“I understand,” Mae said but she wished she could sleep in Seth’s arms.

“Tomorrow, come for breakfast? I’m making waffles.” He asked her

“Waffles, huh? Sounds wonderful.”

“My waffles have notoriety in four states” he said with that sexy smile of his. “9:00 AM on the dot. Good night honey.” Seth kissed her deeply and groaned as she ended the kiss.

Outside, in the silent night, the moonlight still rippled on the water…

FIVE

Mae awoke feeling tender in places she didn’t know existed. She showered and dressed quickly. Looking at her reflection in the full-length mirror, Mae wondered if she looked different. She felt like a completely different woman from yesterday, and she knew why. She couldn’t stop smiling as she put her wedge sandals on. She walked downstairs and out the door.

She reached Seth’s door and stood stumped. Not knowing whether she should just let herself in or if she should knock. What was the appropriate lover etiquette? As she tried to reason it out, Lynne opened the door.

“Well good morning Sweet Mae. How are you this fine Saturday?”

Mae answered, “I’m wonderful. How are you?”

Lynne smiled kindly and said, “well I woke up this morning, so it could be worse.” And then she winked at Mae.

“How true you are.”

Mae followed Lynne to the kitchen, where a large amount of food was spread temptingly on the counter. There were hamburgers and hot dogs, steaks and crab legs, a variety of produce and enough condiments to feed a small army.

“What’s all this?” Mae asked.

“Hey Mae” Aidan said from the couch. “That’s all the food for the barbeque we are having today. Dad has invited everyone.” Well, this was news to Mae.

“Let me guess, Seth didn’t tell you.” Lynne said with a motherly sigh.

“No he didn’t, he doesn’t need to run anything by me though.”

However,
mentioning
it
would
have
been
nice
she thought.

Just then Seth came down the stairs and saw Mae. She looked mouthwatering. She was dressed casually enough, but her body just shouted sex appeal. He dreamed of all they did last night, desperate to get her back under, over, on him again.

“Morning honey.” He came to her side and kissed her on her forehead.

Even with the feeling of being left out, she couldn’t help but smile at him

“Hello, Mr. Finn. I was invited to sample Seth Finn’s famous waffles.”

“That you were.” He leaned into her ear and whispered “I thought of you all last night. My bed was quite lonely.” He gave her a soft kiss on her temple and went to the kitchen to start waffle prep.

“Oh Lynne, you are a dream come true.” Seth leaned over and kissed Lynne on the top of her head.

“Seth Finn if you are dreaming about me because I get everything on the grocery list, then you need a hobby.” Lynne teased.

“I dream of you in hopes that you will leave that no good, fish smelling husband of yours and run off with me,” Seth said, grabbing Lynne’s hand and placing it over her heart.

Lynne turned red and swatted at Seth. The both laughed and Seth gave Lynne another kiss.

Mae had never seen Seth so playful. Just then Seth looked at her and winked.

Seth made quick work of the waffles. Everything was ready and on the table when Seth asked Aidan where Megan was.

“I don’t know. I’m not her keeper.”

Seth looked to Conner. “Have you seen her?”

“No, I haven’t.”

Lynne looked at Seth with concern and said “I haven’t seen her since she came down for a glass of juice. That was over 90 minutes ago.”

Mae watched as the Finn’s looked around for Megan. Conner ran up to Megan’s room, Aidan searched the remaining downstairs.

“Seth, where could she be?” Mae asked.

Seth gave her hand a squeeze and said “she does this quite often. She hides and thinks it is a game. My little spitfire best have not gone too far.”

Even though Seth seemed relaxed, Mae could tell there were equal parts anger and concern stirring in him over his missing daughter.

Seth and Conner decided to try some of her tried and true hiding spots out in the yard. Aidan looked in the garage and Lynne looked through the house once again.

Mae checked the decks and gazebo, with no luck. Where could she be? Just then Mae had a thought. She quickly climbed the stairs to her apartment and went in. She climbed the stairs to her bedroom and opened the closet door. Sitting under a row of folded sweaters was Megan. She was sitting with her legs crossed and her back against the wall. Her Hello Kitty pajamas were wrinkled and the buttons were lopsided.

Mae went to the balcony, opened the door and stepped out. Seth and Conner were each in one of the boats looking under the seats.

“Seth!” At the sound of Mae’s voice Seth looked up, the concern she saw on his face had increased tenfold.

“She’s up here. We will be done in a minute.” She prayed he would be relieved and give Mae a moment to talk to Megan. Mae had a feeling she knew what this was about.

Mae walked back over to the closet and sat down in front of Megan just as she did in the gazebo.

Megan’s head was pointed down at her bare feet and she was brushing her dolls hair.

“Hi Megan, I’m so happy I found you. You made everyone so worried.”

Megan didn’t move or acknowledge Mae

“Megan, sweetie, tell me what is wrong. Maybe I can help?”

Still nothing.

Mae decided to try a different approach

“Yesterday was so fun being out on the boat, huh. I bet it was a shock to see your Dad kiss me, huh?”

Megan stopped brushing her dolls hair but she still didn’t look up from her feet.

“You know I like to kiss your Dad but I can imagine it must be weird to see someone kiss him.”

“I’ve seen him kiss ladies before.”

How
many
ladies?
Mae mentally gave herself a shake; now wasn’t the time to inquire into Seth’s past relationships.

“Oh, so, is it you didn’t like your Dad kissing me?”

Megan remained mute but started brushing her dolls hair again.

“It’s just…” Megan began quietly

Mae waited for Megan to finish what she was going to say. When Megan didn’t continue Mae tried again.

“Just what, sweetie?”

That moment, Megan looked up at Mae and she could see the tears in her eyes. Mae moved beside the little girl and took her small hand into hers.

Megan looked at Mae and said “I thought you liked me, I thought you were my friend. But now I think it is just because you like my Daddy.”

Oh
you
wonderful
child
Mae thought. Mae put her arm around Megan and pulled her into her chest. She kissed the top of her head and laid her cheek on the crown of Megan’s head.

“Megan, I do like you. And you are my friend. You will always be my friend even if me and your Dad don’t see each other anymore.”

Megan looked at her with tears running down her face and said “Really?”

Mae smiled and kissed her head again. “Cross my heart.”

Megan stopped crying and remained leaning against Mae. They sat there for a few more minutes before they were joined by Seth.

Seth walked in and picked up Megan. She willingly went into his embrace. While cuddling his daughter he sent Mae a quizzical look. Mae looked at him and mouthed she’s ok.

“You know what, I think I’m going to have to fight Aidan for the first waffle” Mae winked at father and daughter and quickly gave them privacy.

As soon as Seth heard the door close he kissed his daughters head. “Megan you scared me. Don’t ever do that to me again, I thought I might have lost you.”

“I’m sorry Daddy, I was just sad.”

“What were you sad about Baby?”

“I was afraid that Mae was only pretending to like me because of you.” Megan held on to Seth’s shirt “besides Auntie Robyn and Lynne, all the other ladies always leave.”

Seth smiled; his baby girl was growing up so fast. He thought to himself that her antics usually didn’t help with Seth’s past few relationships, but he thought that was best left unsaid.

“Well I can’t tell you that Mae isn’t going to leave but I can tell you that I don’t want her to leave. I like her very much.”

“As much as you liked my real mommy?”

Oh boy! “Well, yes, as much as I liked your mommy.”

“Ok” Megan said and then bounced off his lap and down the stairs carrying her doll by the leg.

Lynne cleared the table while Seth and Conner talked about the Red Sox game on television. Aidan was busy playing on his handheld gaming system and while Megan amused herself with a tea party for her dolls.

“Mae why don’t you go and sit and relax, I’ll have this finished in no time.”

Mae smiled and kissed Lynne on the cheek, “why don’t you go sit and I’ll finish this up.”

Lynne squeezed Mae’s hand. Lynne decided to take Mae up on here suggestion and left humming a tune.

Mae quickly loaded the dishwasher and was just wiping down the counters when Seth came up behind her.

“Hey honey, do you realize how sexy you look when you load a dishwasher? I thought I was going into cardiac arrest when you bent over.” He whispered in her ear and gave her fantastic ass a squeeze.

Mae loved that Seth found her sexy. It was a new feeling for her but she knew she wanted to be sexy for him.

“So what time are your barbeque attendees coming?”

“Our barbeque is starting at two, so you better go call your friends and let them know to come and join us.” He said as he watched a huge smile spread across her face. Her dimple called to him and he placed a soft kiss upon it.

“Really? You want me to invite my friends?” Could this man become any more wonderful?

“Absolutely honey”

Mae kissed him and went back to her apartment to call Leo and Robert.

Mae came back to Seth’s house twenty minutes later to find Lynne cutting vegetables. All three kids were playing the Wii and from the look of it, Megan was kicking some brotherly butt.

Lynne looked up from chopping onions and smiled at Mae.

“Seth asked me to tell you to join him upstairs when you came back,” Lynne winked at her.

As Mae walked by the kids she could here Megan taunting her brothers. Mae couldn’t resist. “Way to go Megan, be sure to teach them that girls rule and boys drool.”

Megan let out a squeal of delight. As Mae walked toward the stairs, she could here Megan repeating the taunt over and over again.

Mae noticed a large black grand piano in the corner of the front room. The polished shine reflected the incoming sunshine. A red leather sofa sat facing the piano and an antique chest stood against the far wall. The stairs leading to up started and quickly curved in an elegant design that was just another stunning bit of the home’s quality craftsmanship.

When Mae reached the landing she looked to her right and saw a room covered in pink from floor to ceiling. No doubt this was Megan’s room. Across the hall from that room were two doors, which Mae assumed to be each of the boys rooms. Both doors were open and she could see that in one there was a life size mural of Angry Birds; that would be Aidan’s room she mused. The other room was dark in color but bright from the sun streaming in from the large windows. She turned to the left and walked past a full bath and then came to a large door that stood ajar. She knocked, a moment later Seth opened the door. He quickly pulled her into the room and closed the door. Seth gave Mae a moment to take in his room. Like most of the downstairs, Seth’s room was large and earthy. The colors on the wall and floor were muted compared to the dark green and black jacquard that covered the bed and windows.

Seth pulled Mae along to his large bed and noticed that her waist didn’t even reach the top of his mattress. He gave her a little help and picked her up and placed her on the bed.

Mae gave a small yelp but quickly quieted as Seth stepped between her spread thighs.

“Sorry honey, but I just had to know how you’d look in my bed.” Seth then leaned down and gave her a kiss. He sat next to her and gave her knee a squeeze.

“So did you talk to your friend?” he asked

“Yes I did. Robert is working a double shift at the hospital, but Leo is going to come for a little while until he has to start his shift.”

“Robert and Leo, I assume those were your gentleman callers the other night?” he asked with a sexy grin.

“Gentleman callers my foot,” she laughed. “But yes they were my friends from the other night.”

Seth didn’t know why her laugh made him warm inside but he just knew that he liked the feeling.

“So you are probably wondering why I asked Lynne to direct you up here?”

“Well the thought did cross my mind.”

He loved how she could be playful with him. “I wanted to show you that if you think your shower had a lot of knobs you should see mine.”

With that he pulled Mae off the bed by her hands and guided her into his master bath.

Mae stared at the room he called a bath. It was bigger than her bath and closet combined. There was a Jacuzzi tub big enough for three people on one wall and a shower with glass doors on the other. Mae walked towards the shower and opened the glass door. Inside she found tiling in different hues of gray, which covered the ceiling, walls and floor. Jetting out from the walls and ceiling were shower heads of different sizes and heights; there must have been at least ten of them.

“So what do you think?” He asked from the other side of the room where he leaned against a double sink.

“I think you have a water fetish,” Mae said flirtatiously.

A wicked smile spread across Seth’s face and he stalked toward her. When he reached Mae he gave her a slight push so that she fell into the shower and landed against the far wall.

Tower over her and using his great size to surround her he spoke against her lips in a devilish whisper, “You want to see how much of a water fetish I have?”

He placed both his hands on either side of her head and used his body to hold her against the wall. He took her mouth with ravaging speed. He found her tongue and sucked it. Mae moaned as the sensation went right to her center.
