So after I heard her words, all the memories of hardship and difficulty just vanished into a vast whiteness and then I felt a sharp tingly thing in my nose then all this water started pouring out of my eyes and nose. And so though I wanted to tell her

No words were coming out of my mouth

Sure enough. There were couples on benches on both sides . . .
she began to pet my face which by now was all scrunched up and a wild mess
‘You saying you liked me made me like you even more’
she said, as she got up onto her tippytoes and kissed me a few times around my sideburns. Just when I thought time had stopped, the tap in my nose and eyes started to gush uncontrollably. I gritted my teeth and tried my best not to let any noise escape from my mouth.
‘I’m sorry. No girl has ever treated me so kindly’ was what I really wanted to say but those weren’t the words that came tumbling out. She just nodded and wiped what could have been either snot or tears from my face with some tissue paper.
I have no idea how much time passed but when I finally lifted my head I saw that her eyes were bright red . . .
I let out a confused ‘Ah . . . ’ as I looked into her face
‘Watching you made me cry’
she said as she wiped some
tears from her face with the back of her fingers.
This blow opened up the floodgates connected to the Geeks’ tearducts which had long been arid as the land on Mars.
