Sixty-two

Early the next morning, Sean kissed her awake.  She stretched and smiled shyly when he said good morning.

“Are you good?”  He asked.

She nodded yes.

He grinned at her, “I hate to leave, but I have to go to work.”

She kissed him.  “You’ll be home tonight.”

He leered at her, “Can’t wait.”  He showered quickly, dressed and left.

She got up.  The bed was lonely without him.  Tango needed to be fed.  She also needed to call her grandmother who got up early.  She took a quick shower and went downstairs.

Taylor fed Tango and spent time playing with him and brushing him.  She tried to play with him and brush him every day.  She smiled and said to him, “You just love your attention, don’t you boy?  Thankfully we found you and we are going to love you for the rest of your life.  Even when you get old.  You will always be my boy.”  Tango gave her a sloppy kiss and she laughed.  “Not as good as Sean, but a good doggie kiss.”

She fixed herself a bagel and some hot tea.  Then she called her grandmother.

“Hi, Gran.  How are you guys doing?”

“Great, sweetie.  You sound very chipper and happy today.”

“I told Sean I loved him.  He said he loved me first, Gran.”

She was taken aback when her grandmother said, “Now you’ll have to engage in some hot lovemaking, sweetie.”

Taylor’s eyes got big, “Gran.”

“Oh don’t be so shocked, sweetie.  We old folks think about it too.”

Taylor was stunned that she was having this conversation with her dear old grandmother.  Then she started to laugh, “You are too much.”

“Hey, I’m thinking I’m giving some advice too late.  Huh?”

“Gran.”  Her cheeks were turning red even though her grandmother could not see her.

Her grandmother started laughing.  “So was it good, great, or out of this world?”  She asked in a teasing voice.

Taylor had no idea her grandmother was this brazen.  She giggled, “Interstellar.”

Her grandmother called out to her husband, “Grant, Taylor had some interstellar rendezvouses with that nice young man of hers.”

She heard her grandfather shout back, “About time.”

“You guys must be doing a lot better.  I’m still going to visit with you.  My car will be ready soon.”

“No rush, sweetie.  You need to concentrate on that young man of yours first.  We’ll be here.”

Taylor called Lisa and heard more about her new boyfriend.  She finally told her she had met someone too.  Lisa wanted all the details, but Taylor told her he was a police officer and that he was nice, considerate, but little else.

Lisa asked, “Have you slept with him?”

“Have you slept with this older man you’ve been dating?  What’s his name, Jim?”

“I’m going to honest and say yes.  And the only reason I am telling you is so that you will answer me.”

Taylor considered not answering, but what the heck?  “Yes.”

Lisa laughed, “About time you trusted someone and fell in love.  He must be pretty special.”

“He is.  I have to run, but I’ll talk to you later.”

Before roll call, John came in at the last minute.  Sean was laughing and talking to a couple of other officers.  Then they all sat and got briefed before going out.

As they left, Sean looked at him, “Running late are we?”

“I made it on time at least.”

Sean laughed, “Barely.  Not like you.  Is something up?”

“I just didn’t want to get out of bed this morning.”

Sean gave him a studied look.  “I can understand that.”

As usual, John drove.  John kept looking over at Sean.  It must have been the twentieth time so far.

Finally, he had enough of the glances, “What is the problem?”

John grinned from ear to ear.  “Someone looks different today.”

Sean frowned at him, “What are you talking about?”  He suspected he knew.  He felt different.  He was crazy about Taylor and last night had been more than amazing.

John looked over at him, “Someone looks usually cheerful and happy this morning.”

What had he done differently?  How could John possible know that last night had been the best night of his life?  He gave a casual shrug, “Don’t know what you’re talking about.  Just the same as I always am.”

John just smiled.  “You have, what do they say about women, a glow?  So maybe I should say after burn for you.”

Sean kept silent.  He was not going to talk about it and John knew that.  He thought about waking up this morning and having to get up and get ready for work.  Taylor had smiled reservedly at him when he kissed her awake.  He remembered how good she smelled, like lemons and how soft and warm she had been.

He pressed her face into her neck and delayed getting up, nuzzling her neck and telling her he loved her.  He kissed her again and finally got up.

He got a text message and pulled out his phone to read it.

Best night EVER.  Sexy goes to the top of your can do list.  Am I going to get a repeat when you get home?  Love you.

Sean grinned and replied back.
Unbelievable, incredible night.  You better believe it.  Love you too.

John glanced at him, “What’s got you so happy?  I’m sure I know.  You guys finally did it, right?”

Sean rolled his eyes at him and did not answer.

“Well for your information, last night was great for me too.”

Sean said nothing about himself.  “I really don’t need to hear about your sex life, old man.”

John broke out into laughter, “Yep.  You did it.”

After several minutes of silence he said, “Who are you calling old, by the way?”

That made Sean laugh.  “You are older than I am.”

“That just means I’m better at everything than you are.”

Sean smirked.

Later, when they were on a break, he called her.  “Hey, Taylor.”

“Hi.”

There was a moment of silence, then he said, “I can’t wait to get home.”

“Well, I can’t wait for you to get home.  What do you feel like having for dinner?  I can make a steak and some steak fries.”

“How about I take you out tonight?  You know I wasn’t talking about getting home to eat your delicious cooking, though, right?”

She giggled, “I can’t imagine what you are talking about Officer Reed, but you can explain it when you get home or you can show me.”

He laughed, “I’ll show you for sure.  Gotta go.  Love you.”

“I love you, Sean.”

Late in the day Sean got another text.
Have I told u that u r amazing?  And really good in bed?  Love you.

Sean grinned.
How do I rate on a scale of 1 to 10?

She replied back.
15  - cant wait 4 u to come home so can practice other stuff I learned.

Damn, she was making him hot.  He would go home right now if he could.  He replied back
.  Stop teasing me I am working do not want to embarrass myself in front of public and will if u keep sending texts like this  love u

When Taylor read his reply she giggled.  So that worked too. She had read on the internet that sending text messages could get a man really hot and anxious to come home.  She decided not to answer.  Best to leave it as it is.

Sean thought the day would never end and he knew he was antsy.  John could tell too.  “See you tomorrow and have a fun night.”  He grinned at Sean.

Sean just gave him a look.  A couple of the guys invited him out for a beer, which earlier he might have taken them up on, but that was before he met Taylor.  Tonight all he wanted to do was get home.

Tango greeted him with a happy bark and tail wag.   He gave him a brief hello and then kissed Taylor.

Taylor said breathlessly, “I didn’t think you would ever get home.”

He grinned before running his hands up her shirt and kissing her neck, “Me either.  And those text messages didn’t help.”

“So did you like them?”

He was kissing her neck, “Like what?”  He was so distracted, he wasn’t following her.

She laughed, “The text messages, silly.”

He stopped and grinned, “Oh, those.  Yeah, I liked them.  But it was making me crazy.”

“Well, someone has to make you crazy, mister sexy.”

“Are you ready to go to dinner?”

“Yes.”

“Let me change and I’ll be right back.”

She sat down on the couch and waited.  Not what she expected for his coming home, but there was always after dinner and she did not want to seem too eager.  Right?

When they got home, he pulled her shirt over her head just inside the door.  She helped him get his shirt off.  He kissed her neck and ran his hands down her sides.

She kissed him back.  His tongue touched her lips and ran along them.  She was melting and burning.  She ran her hands down his chest to his jeans button.  He picked her up and carried her over to the couch.  He stopped and helped her with his pants but he kept kissing her. He unfastened her bra and pulled her jeans off.

They were kissing urgently and frantically.  “Sean, you do realize we’re on the couch?”  It was all she could get out because he was kissing and sucking on her breasts.

“What?”

“The couch.”

“Yeah, perfect.”

“Seriously, Sean.”

She moaned when he ran his hands up her silky soft thighs and he groaned when she caressed him.

They ended up on the couch all night.

The next day, John continued to ask him questions about Taylor.  “Have you guys discussed a date?  What about giving her some flowers?  I want to order some for Sara.  Where is she from?”

“John, enough with the third degree, please.”

It turned out to be a busy day so he did not have to endure the questions after that.

When he got home, Tango greeted him and then he went directly to the kitchen.  He handed her the flowers he had bought her.

“Oh, Sean, they’re beautiful.  I’ve never gotten flowers before but I love them.”

She put them on the counter.  They had come in a pretty purple and white vase.  “What is the special occasion that I get beautiful flowers?”

“No reason other than I love you.”  He proceeded to show her exactly what he had been thinking about all day.  She almost melted and slid off the counter, but Sean held her tightly.

Afterwards, she started to laugh.  “In the kitchen?”

“It worked, didn’t it?  Bet you’ll never look at a kitchen the same way again.”  He grinned at her.

“True.”  She kissed him and told him she loved him.

“So, can I show you how happy I am?”  She kissed his ear.

“Oh yeah.”  He kissed her and murmured, “We can figure out dinner later.”

“Good, we’ll discuss my observations about male deer.”

He carried her upstairs and they started discussing deer.  Then he showed her how right she had been.

Sara came by and they decided to go into town.  She seemed anxious to talk.  When they drove to the mall, they sat at the fountain.

Taylor looked at her, “Sean brought me here.  We sat on this very bench.  I love going to the movies so we went after lunch.”  She told her about the restaurant and waitress.

Sara was laughing so hard, she had tears running down her cheeks.  “Thanks.  I needed that.  I wanted to talk to you.  Sean being so into you has John remembering how much we used to do things together and how much we love each other.  Life can get in the way sometimes and you take for granted what you have and Sean has shown him that.  I am very grateful because we have always been so happy but recently it has been better than ever.  I am not sure if it is you and Sean or the fact that he got shot or a combination of the two.”

“Did Sean say anything?”

“Oh no.  He doesn’t talk about it but he has opened up more and is smiling a lot and John has seen that.  I haven’t told John, so please don’t say anything to Sean, but I think I might be pregnant.”

“Really?  That’s wonderful.”  She saw the look on Sara’s face.  “You’re not happy?”

Sara smiled, “I am but I don’t know how John will feel.  Remember I have a 13 year old and 10 year old.  Having a baby is a big deal.”

“When are you going to tell him?”

“I want to be sure first.  I have an appointment at the clinic this afternoon.  Will you come with me?”

Taylor hugged her, “Of course I will.  I can’t wait for you to tell John if you are.”

“I hope he’s as happy about as you are.”

“Why do you say that?  John loves you and the kids and he will be thrilled.”

Sara gave her a smile, “You are so good for me.  You make feel like everything is going to wonderful.”

“It will be.  And you know you are a wonderful mother.  I wish I had a mother who was even half of what you are to your family.”

Sara looked at her curiously, so Taylor told her more about her mother.

“Oh, Taylor, I am so sorry.”

Taylor stared at the fountain, her eyes filling with tears.  “Sean told me to stop hoping she will change.  I know he’s right and I’m stupid for hoping she will, but.”   She shrugged and wiped the tears spilling down her cheeks.

Sara hugged her, “Of course you want it to be different.  I can’t imagine how hard it must have been when you were young and did not have a loving mother.  I cannot imagine not loving my kids.  So, let’s cheer ourselves up and eat lunch before I go to the clinic.”

They ate lunch at an Italian restaurant.  Taylor realized that they had become very good friends, something she had never really had except for Lisa who she realized she had not been all that close to.

When they came out of the clinic, Sara let out a big breath, “Wow.  Three months.”

Taylor grinned, “Yep.  Maybe it will be a shock to John, but he has to know it might happen and he’ll get over it fast.”

Sara laughed, “Wait until you and Sean are married and you need to tell him he’s about to be a father.”

Taylor tilted her head a bit, “I think Sean would be an amazing father.  He has no role model but he would be.”

Sara had a puzzled look on her face, “I thought both of his parents were alive and in Australia.”

“Yes, but neither one of them cared about him.  They were too busy hating each other.”

“I didn’t know.  I bet he will be a wonderful father one day.”

“Yeah, just not too soon.”

“John and I waited two years before we got serious about it.  Still it’s going to be weird to have a baby at my age.”

“You aren’t old.”

“No, but if I were your age, I think it would be easier.”

They got into the car.  Taylor asked, “Do you want a boy or a girl?”

“John and I have never really cared but if I had to pick I think a boy would be nice.  But don’t tell John or Sean I said that because I would be thrilled with either.”

Taylor laughed, “Maybe you can have twins so that you can have both.”

Sara shook her head, “Please no.”

A few minutes later, they heard sirens.  Sara looked down at the speedometer, “Damn it.”

She pulled the car over and looked at Taylor, “Well, this will really add to John’s day.  A baby and a ticket.”

Taylor giggled as Sara put her window down.

“License, registration, and proof of insurance.”

Sara got out the documents and handed it to him.  “Officer, would you consider giving me a break on the ticket?  My husband is a cop and I would really rather not he find out I was speeding.  I’ve never had a ticket.”

The officer asked her to step out of the car.  Sara slid out.  Taylor could not hear what they were saying, so she got out of the car.  The officer pointed at her and said loudly, “Get back in the car.”

Taylor stared at him in surprise.  “I’m not doing anything.  I just want to make sure you don’t mess with my friend.”

His partner came over to Taylor.  “Ma’am, put your hands on the vehicle.”

“Why?  I haven’t done anything except get out of the car, Officer.”
