Chapter Thirty Eight

Petran let his head fall back as Talia’s intimate walls squeezed tight around his hard rod.

By Apa Dobrý, it was almost too much for him to bear.

The moment he saw her climb up the steps of his front porch, he knew all his resolve to keep his word and never see her again was lost.
He
was lost, and right now, being with her was all that mattered. She was daring, brave and much more a leader than he had ever been. How could he not have fallen in love with her?

Fallen...that was the perfect term to describe what he was feeling right now, with his cock buried inside her juicy folds, with her writhing at his touch, and her warm skin flapping against his.

He pulled out then plunged in again, penetrating her deeper, feeling the soft barriers in her core tighten around his shaft. And he wanted more. He needed more.

He caressed her back and lowered his hand down between her buttocks. Talia let out an encouraging moan when he rubbed the spot between her butt cheeks. He needed to penetrate her in every possible way. He wanted to fill her entirely. He rubbed her puckered hole as he rammed her from the front, putting pressure on her from both front and back. When he felt she was ready, he slid his middle finger inside and held it there as he picked up the pace of his thrusting cock.

“Oh, Petran,’ Talia cried out, and clutched her nails into the skin of his shoulders. “Yes, Yes!”

Yes, she also wanted him the same rough way he wanted to take her. He needed to take her, make her lose herself completely in him.

Penetrating her both ways, and never letting his pace slow down, he grabbed a hand full of hair at her nape and forced her head back. Her thick veins popped out, making him salivate. His fangs dripped and itched with a need to taste her. “You will belong to me tonight, in every possible way, my sweet.”

She replied with more cries of encouragement. Lowering her backwards, he forced his finger deeper inside her dark channel while his cock speared her juicy sex, in and out, deep and hard, and then his fangs broke skin and he finally felt the metallic taste of her essence fill his mouth, mixing with her delicious scent of honey and sandalwood. A low growl reverberated in his throat as her cries took on a higher, more desperate pitch.

After just a few moments of sucking and thrusting, Talia shook ferociously in his arms and he felt a powerful wave of heat course through her entire body. Her sex clasped around his cock in a death grip, driving him over the edge as well. His hips kept on rocking even after his juice spurted inside her. His mind exploded into several little pieces, and his cock kept on pumping as if not ready for it to end.

No, he was not ready for this to end—ever.

**********

Oh wow...Talia’s muscles were completely numb. She was so relaxed and at ease, the world felt like it was not crumbling around her anymore. There was no war between her father and Kalaur, no vampire against dragons. There was just Petran.

She lifted her head back up as strong arms lifted her. “Where are you taking me?”

“To bed. I am sorry for not having had the strength to wait for a soft mattress.”

“No apologies necessary.” No apologies indeed for she had enjoyed their first joining, and had convinced herself she was a true wanton after their impromptu coupling in the walk-in closet, but this time?

“Oh, wow, Merciful Soartas,” was all she could say. She was so utterly sated.

A hard mattress pressed against her back and she stretched on it like a kitten. When she came back, she found Petran watching her from under long lashes. His gaze was lazy and hungry at the same time. A small smile curved the side of his lips.

“Do that again and I’ll be forced to take you without allowing you a break.”

“Is that a challenge?” she replied, suddenly feeling wicked.

He lifted an eyebrow at her then covered her body with his. “You do not want to tease me, Duchess,” he murmured kissing her neck.

“I don’t?”

“No, bad things can happen.” His tongue licked her collarbone, and then descended to the vale between her breasts.

“And why is that?”

“You may never be allowed to leave this house again.”

His mouth wrapped around one of her breasts, sucking at it lazily. It was a slow touch but nonetheless, it sent sparks down her legs, lighting up her core again, in what must be record time. By Apa Dobrý, was she ever going to be immune to his touch? She truly hoped not. His other hand caressed her other breast. And her knees fell apart of their own accord.

He stroked her breast and sucked on the other, taking his time. Soft brushes of his fingertips were intermingled with tight pinches capturing and teasing her nipple.

“You are ready for me again, my sweet,” he whispered.

She could not believe it but it was true, her body already craved his again.

She felt Petran’s hard rod drop on her thigh and a hint of satisfaction enveloped her heart. Yes, he too could not get enough of her. She felt a sudden need to touch him, so she reached between their bodies and wrapped her hand around his hardness.

“Same as you, my King,” she murmured back while stroking her hand up and down his shaft. Petran moaned, letting out a shuddering breath against her nipple. “You are hungry for me again.”

“I am always hungry for you,” he replied. His lazy seduction vanished with a sudden strain of desire. He hovered high above, giving her more access to his intimacy.

She took what he gave her, massaging his balls while rubbing his shaft up, and down again. He let his head fall forward, followed by a loud moan.

“Oh, Talia, you’re going to make me lose control again.”

She smiled. That had been her plan. Was it too wicked of her to feel empowered by his admission? Then her upper hand was quickly lost when he dipped his head down and returned to tormenting her breasts.

Lazy strokes suddenly morphed into steady lashes of his tongue on her nipples. Her hands worked him faster, even as his mouth sucked her harder.

Her core quivered as wetness dripped from between her legs. Yes, yes, it was happening again for she felt the addictive dull ache return. “Petran,” she begged. “I need you.”

He lifted his head up and gazed straight into her eyes with his signature crooked smile on his face. “You will always have me, my sweet.”

Then he lunged inside her again, ripping away the last reservations in her heart.

Later after their desires were once more sated, Petran lay down on his back and pulled Talia against his chest. She was panting, probably still breathless from their lovemaking. Admittedly, so was he but by Apa Dobrý, he couldn’t keep his hands off this woman. As she smoothed herself into the crook of his arm, the inevitable reality crushed him.

He had to do something about the mess he had created.

His castle had been taken, Hillia was being kept under house-arrest and his son was still missing, and no matter how hard his spies tried, they hadn’t been able to find clues to Tardieh’s whereabouts.

“What are you thinking about?”

Talia’s soft voice brought him back from his dark thoughts. He ran his hand through her luscious red mane and kissed her on the forehead. “Nothing of any importance.”

“Liar,” she replied jokingly, resting her chin on his muscles. “You had that look on your face.”

“What look?”

“That determined yet detached look you get whenever Kalaur enters the room. As if you were saying,
I’m going to kill you but don’t take it personally
.”

“Oh, it is personal all right,” he replied hugging her closer. “I promise you, my sweet, Kalaur’s days are numbered. He won the first battle, but I will win the war.”

“Well, then you need best be prepared for it because he’s gathering every ounce of silver in the kingdom to forge weapons.”

A low growl escaped Petran’s lips, startling Talia. He forced himself to quiet down. “I have heard of the atrocities he’s been committing for the sake of conquering my lands. He’s raided every house in every village in search for silver. That’s not tyranny anymore, that’s straightforward armed robbery.”

Talia winced and Petran regretted having started such a dark conversation, marring their time together.

“My father is trying to gather support but the other dragon lords are afraid of Kalaur. Not even Lindworm has answered my father’s missives.”

Cowards.
“I know,” Petran replied, giving her a peck on the mouth. “I too have met silence from my own counterparts in the West but I promise you, I will not rest until Kalaur’s head is severed from his miserable body. Even if it’s the last thing I do as king.”

Talia looked away.

Damn the Soartas, there he was again, ruining their moment together. “I’m sorry, Talia, the wound is still open. I didn’t mean to bring troubles to your mind.”

She lifted herself by the elbows and glared at him. “Do not take me for a child or an invalid, Petran. I am well aware of the consequences of war, and the sacrifices needed to win it.” She pulled out of his arms and sat upright on the bed.

Well done, Petran
, he scolded himself. He sat behind her, brushed aside the long ginger strands from her back, and then started massaging the tight knots in her back he had caused. “You must know how hard it is for me not to feel protective of you.”

“And why is that?” she asked without turning around, but her tone was lighter than her harsh choice of words.

He leaned closer and murmured in her ear. “Because you are the cutest mutineer I have ever met in my entire life.”

She finally turned around and folded her arms over her delicious breasts. “I am not a mutineer.”

“No?”

“No.”

“So, your father gave you permission to come see me then.”

She blinked a few times and a light blush reddened her cheeks making her look even more desirable, if that was even possible. “He agreed that I needed to find out where you were, yes.”

Petran chuckled lightly, nibbling on her ear. “That is not the same. Nonetheless, he would still kill me if he knew I disobeyed his orders.”

“What orders?” She pulled away slightly, making him look her in the eye.

Damn the Soartas. Petran took a deep breath trying to gain some time.

“Petran, what orders?” she repeated.

“Your father made me promise I would never see you again. That was our agreement.” The truth came out of his mouth before his brain could even think of another way out. Strangely enough though, it felt wrong to lie to her.

But the rage radiating off her made him regret it almost immediately.

“He made you agree not to see me in return for rescuing me? Is that what happened?”

Oh, bullocks.
“No, Talia, it is not. Your father just wants the best for you, he is just...” He paused and released a tired breath. He did not want to fight but once again words came out of his mouth before he could stop them. “Your father is just old.
I
am old, Talia. I have been around for a very long time and yes, modern times are upon us as you said it yourself so many times, but it is very hard for old inmãs like ours to simply ignore the past and change at whim. I did not mind my life before you came along, it wasn’t happy but everything had an order. I knew who my enemies were, whom I needed to support and whom I needed to crush, when the tides would change, and when the sun would go down. But now, the world is upside down, I am supporting the end of slavery, following the orders of a neighbor, and have fallen in love with a draconian duchess. I truly have no idea what will happen next.”

Talia gaped at him, obviously not knowing what to say. “You…fell in love with…”

Bugger, he had said it out loud. Well, there was no point in denying it any further.

He released a long breath and gazed into her beautiful grey eyes. “Of course I fell in love with you, my sweet,” he whispered, capturing her face in his hands. “How could I have not?”

A beautiful smile lifted her features and the stiffness finally dissolved from her shoulders, warming his heart. She closed the gap between them and kissed him on the mouth. “I love you too.”

And just like that, order was restored to his world.

How bizarre.

The entire evening had felt so alien to Petran yet so right—having Talia in his arms, ensuring her safety, for her happiness had become paramount to him somehow during their ordeal of the past months. If she were any other mistress, he would have chided her for asking too many questions right before sending her packing. But not Talia, he would beg her for forgiveness even before knowing of what he was being accused. Yes, he had become that pathetic.

“You are not pathetic,” she chuckled, making him realize he was speaking aloud.

Great, he was going senile too.

“And if you were, I could care less.”

She kissed him again and he embraced the peacefulness she brought to him. It felt as if everything would be all right somehow. But it would not as long as Kalaur was alive.
