“I want to show you something.” he mumbled and pressed his lips against mine for a few second and then stood up.
I simply nodded and followed him upstairs and into his room. There where even more canvas in his room but all were covered. He walked to the window where one was leaning against it. He took off the cover and I gasped.
He finished my painting.
“How? How did you-”
“Let’s just say I couldn’t get you out of my mind.” he kissed my cheek and I couldn’t take my eyes off the painting.
Damn he is good. Excellent.
“When did you finish it?” finally I managed to take my eyes off the painting and stared right at him.
“Around a month ago.” he cleared his throat and rubbed his neck. He only does that when he’s nervous. “So what do you think?”
“Mitch.“ I sighed. “Its fabulous.”
He visibly relaxed. “I’m taking it to the exhibit in a couple of months.”
“You’re selling it?”
What?!
“No, I’m keeping it. I just want to show it. The ones that are on sell are all those.” he pointed to all the other canvas laying around his room. “I was wondering if you wanted to come, its going to be in a few months but yeah.”
“I would love to.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
The rest of the evening was peaceful and happy. We went inside the pool and played around a bit. We even played some video games in which I lost badly.
When it was time to go…lets just say it took us a while to say good bye.
“I have to go.” I pulled away from the kiss.
He sighed. “Fine.”
“I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”
“Even better, I’ll tell my parents to drop me off at your place.” he suggested.
“Alright.” I smiled and kissed him one last time and I walked out to my car.
“I love you!” he yelled form the door and I felt my cheeks heat.
“Love you too!” I yelled back.
Tomorrow I’ll make sure Mitch has a good time. And when the day of the surgery comes I’ll make sure to not leave his side. I meant it when I said he wont get rid of me so easily.
Chapter 31
“How about this one?” Ambrose held up a black punk-ish skirt and a red spaghetti strap shirt on the other. “And with this leather jacket. Oh and this boots.” I have to admit I liked those black boots with 11 inch heels.
“Perfect, but how about these jeans? I held up a pair of black skinny jeans.
“Good. That way Mitch is not going to be staring at your bare legs throughout the movie.” Ambrose winked.
I chuckled and started changing. I didn’t bother to kick Ambrose out of my room or go inside my bathroom. He’s my best friend since I have memory and is a hundred percent gay so there’s no problem.
Mitch was downstairs with Chris and Chad, waiting for me. He’s been here since 9:00 a.m. and now its 3:35 p.m. The movie starts at 4:15 p.m.
I haven’t told anyone but Ambrose about the incident with Chad how simply lost control. Of course Ambrose wanted to rip him to shreds. Since then he hasn’t taken his eyes off Chad.
“Girl you look stunning.” Ambrose said once I was fully dressed.
I’m not really the type to dress all fancy for a date. I dress like the usual me. Maybe that’s because I never really went to dates.
As always I only used a small amount of makeup and let my hair fall in its crazy waves.
“Thanks Ambrose. What would I do without you?”
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “I don’t know, jump off a ten story building?”
“Funny.” I punched his arm playfully. “Alright lets go.”
Ambrose smiled and kissed my forehead then took a hold of my hand and we went downstairs.
Mitch was seating next to Chris and they seemed to be having a good time since both were laughing. Chad on the other hand glared at both of them
Once he saw he me turned away, finding the floor interesting.
Mitch noticed me and smiled, then he frowned. “If it wasn’t because you’re gay and I happen to befriend your boyfriend and the fact that you’re
my
girlfriend’s best friend I would be really jealous.” he said and glared at our joined hands. “And probably smack you with my crutches.”
I blushed but didn’t pull my hand out of Ambrose’s.
“You even try that and I’ll make sure you wont have kids.” Chris threatened somewhat playfully.
Mitch gulped and rolled his eyes. “Whatever kid.” then he got up.
Ambrose laughed and let go of my hand to go to a blushing Chris.
“I’m sixteen!” Chris said to his defense.
Mitch grinned. “And I’ll be twenty in a couple of months. So you’re a kid to me.”
Chris pouted and that had Ambrose kissing him all over the face and hugging him.
“You look beautiful.” Mitch whispered and kissed me gently on the lips.
“Disgusting.” Chad spat.
“Fuck you.” Ambrose said. “I’m not happy with you, so cut the crap before I decide to kill you.”
Chad glared at him and stormed upstairs.
“Calm down baby.” Chris got a hold of Ambrose’s hand and pulled him down.
I sighed. “Should we leave?”
Mitch frowned and then nodded.
“We are heading home.” Chris told Ambrose and we all got out of the house.
They got in their car and we got inside mine.
“What’s up with Chad. He’s exceeding his asshole-ness self.” Mitch commented.
“I have no idea.” I lied swiftly.
If I told him what happened he would go on a rampage and I knew Chad would take advantage of Mitch’s disadvantage. Meaning his crutches.

Once on the theater we had to wait in line because it was packed.
People where looking at Mitch for various reasons. Some stared at his crutches, some glared as if knowing who he was and hated him…drooled over him.
Can’t they see I’m with him?!
Out of anger and jealousy I grabbed Mitch’s face in my hands and pulled him down for a long kiss. As soon as he deepened it I forgot why I was mad and lost myself completely. When he pulled back it took me a moment to get my brain cells working again.
“What was that for? No that I minded, you can do it again anytime you want, no one will stop you.” Mitch smirked.
I liked my lips. “That ought to keep girls and guys from trying to get to you.”
Mitch raised an eyebrow and looked really amused. “Jealous, love?”
“So what if I am?”
“You look cute when embarrassed.” he kissed my cheek and I’m one hundred and ten percent sure my face is redder than a tomato.
The line walked fast and soon we were asking for tickets to the hunger games. And they were sold out. I nearly cried and laughed at the same time. So we got tickets for the Avengers.
We bought popcorns and a soda. Once we were inside we had to seat in the middle and there were kids all around us.
“This should be fun.” Mitch commented as the movie started.
After eating too much popcorn I rested my head on his shoulder. Halfway through the movie kids where yelling, throwing popcorn and kicking our seats. Mitch growled. “They shouldn’t have allowed them in.” he said referring to the kids.
“I know.”
He sighed. “Want to get out?”
“Yes!”
With a lot of effort, and me half carrying Mitch, we got to the exit.
“Jesus, so many kids!”
“Tell me about it, I’ve been babysitting for two years.” I said.
He frowned as we walked on the sidewalk. “Why didn’t you get a job or something?”
“I used to be my dad’s personal nurse so to speak, and hated the fact to leave him alone. I thought he would also disappeared and I didn’t want him out of my life too.”
“What happened to your family?”
I blinked and looked away. After seeing that I wasn’t going to answer he sighed.
“Hey don’t worry. We don’t have to talk about it. You can tell me when ever you feel fine with it. No worries.”
I turned to look at him, trying to figure him out. Is he making fun of me or something?
“I’m serious.”
I smiled a little and nodded.
We decided to go to the park and spend the rest of the day there, neither of us wanting to be home. We talked for hours. About ourselves and things that happened, things we hated, things we liked.
I found out some interesting things about him.
“I used to be one of those mayor nerds and used to get bullied every single day. They came at me every chance they got.” his eyes turned into annoyance but he was smiling.
“You, a
nerd?!
” I had to laugh. “Not that I have anything against them actually I find them incredibly adorable, but I cant see you as one.”
He chuckled. “Well one day I got really tired of being the victim and decided to stand up to them and make them stop. So I grabbed my buzz light-year gun and hid it in my backpack. During lunch, in which I sat with Nathan, they came. I remember the leader’s name. Johann. I always called him Johanna behind his back.” he smiled. “So he came and started talking big and all. So I took out my buzz lightyear gun and hid it under my sweater. I stood up and pointed at them. I bragged how it was loaded and since then they stopped bullying me. They started worshipping the ground I walked on and respected me.”
“Such a bad boy.” I laughed. “I never got bullied. It was always my sister and it was me defending her.” I smiled at the memory.
“I had many unfortunate events. I guess I had some sort of mild OCD towards some things. Then my parents figured out that I was a magnet for bad things and they enrolled me in art class so I could take my anger out on a canvas. It worked out pretty well actually.”
“I want to see your other paintings.”
Mitch grinned. “You will.” he paused to kiss my nose. “At the art gallery.”
I groaned and like that we kept talking some more until it was getting too late and I was driving him home.
“I feel like a girl who just came back from the first date.” Mitch complained as we stood at his doorstep.
I chuckled. “Well girlfriend I’ll come see you tomorrow.”
“Promise me, boyfriend because if you don’t I’ll cry in my bed and eat a ton of ice cream.” he faked a girly voice and we both laughed.
He ended up leaning against the door with his crutches on his sides. He easily pulled me to him and hugged me.
“Please go visit me to the hospital.” he said in a serious voice.
“Of course I will, you wont get rid of me that easily.” I said against his chest. “I’ll visit you every single day from morning to night. I’m not leaving your side anytime soon.”
“I hope so, I really do.” he said and I pulled back placing a swift kiss on his lips.
“I won’t. I love you.”
His face softened. “I love you too.”
I kissed his cheek. “Well get inside before your parents accuse me of kidnapping their son on his own free will.”
He made a shocked face. “That’s doesn’t make any sense.”
“I know.” I smiled and pushed him inside. “I’ll be here before you leave to the hospital.”
“Promise?” he sounded like a little kid just then. I wanted to cry.
“I promise.”
And then I was watching him close the door and then heading to my car and leaving to my house.
I have to admit I was a bit worried. Alright who am I fooling I’m dying of nerves! This is a big step for him and I don’t want his hopes to go crashing into a muddle of nothing.
From the worry I had within me, I didn’t notice anyone on the living room or anything for that matter. Everything was blurry and the only thing I was seeing was Mitch.
And the only thing I dreamt was Mitch.
When I woke up, which was pretty late, was Mitch.
I cursed god only knows how many times as I hurried and changed into something comfortable. A pair of jeans, a loose shirt and a sweater. Hospitals get cold sometimes. I pulled my hair in a pony tail and didn’t bother with make up.
Soon enough I was running downstairs and into the kitchen. I made myself a quick sandwich and ate it so fast that I started feeling a bit nauseous afterwards. Then I grabbed an apple.
“Why the rush?” Maggie asked from her seat in the living room.
“Where’s dad?”
“Sleeping.” she sighed. “Don’t avoid the question.”
“I’m not, I was simply asking. And I’m going to the hospital.”
“The hospital? What’s wrong?” she got up.
I took a bite of my apple. “Mitch. Surgery. Eleven.” was all I managed with the fruit in my mouth.
