tions to the planet. In such diverse areas as the environment, politics, poverty, hunger and economic abundance and equality, they

silently guide and send positive energy where they can have influ-

ence. I have also talked to souls on the other side who share their specific knowledge and interests with other souls, helping them to

evolve and grow. Whatever those on the other side are involved in,

they share and give because it feels so good to do so. Like our oxy-gen, love is everywhere in the spirit realm and the heart is the center of our being. When we selflessly give we thrive.

The Mechanics

The following story is a common one. Most of us know of someone

who has suddenly and without warning died from a heart attack.

The family and friends of those who pass in this way are usually

shocked. Looking back on the events that led up to their loved ones passing, they try to discover clues or warnings that they may have

missed. Along with their grief and mourning, many also feel a sense of insecurity and fear in the randomness of life. Although many

heart attacks appear to be unpredictable and sudden, they often

occur after a lifelong or prolonged period of repression of the heart and spirit. Although there are many significant dietary and life style choices that contribute to the hearts sudden failure, the ability to express and give and share love is often a core factor.

Unlike many of my clients, when Brian contacted me for a read-

ing, he was most interested in connecting to his spirit guides. He

did not elaborate on why this was important or what he was hop-

ing to learn. Yet, just knowing that this was his interest told me that his spiritual life was important to him. The morning of our session Brian came into my office with a broad smile and warmly shook

my hand. Many of my clients are nervous before we begin the ses-

sion. Not Brian, he seemed comfortable and excited.

I began the session with a prayer and immediately felt the pres-

ence of his father. I knew that Brian most wanted to communicate

with his spirit guides. But, sometimes loved ones can be so intent

on being heard, I cannot continue with the reading until I allow

them to communicate.

“Your father is here.” I tell Brian. “He very much wants to talk to you. Would you like to hear what he has to say?”

Heart Disease, Call to Love ~ 105

“Yes, my father died when I was in college. This is a surprise.

For some reason I did not expect to hear from him. Yes, please what does he have to say?”

“I get the impression from your father that a blast or jolting

shock went through his body. Did he pass over as the result of a

heart attack? He is clutching his heart.”

“He died at his job, on a Monday morning.” Brian confirms.

“I hear the name Jim or Tim. Is this your father or someone in

your father’s family? It feels like another man might also be coming in.” I ask him.

“He has a brother Jim who is on the other side. My Dad’s name

is Curtis. They were not particularly close. I am surprised that he is here. I didn’t know him very well. “

“I have to tell you. There is someone else. I see three men. This

feels like your grandfather. I get the feeling you did not know him.

He passed over before you were born. Is this correct?

“Your right, I never knew my grandfather. He died when my fa-

ther was young. We do not have longevity of my father’s side of the family. All three of these men died of some type of cardiovascular

disease. Why are they all here?” Brian asks me with a perplexed look on his face.

“I get the impression that they are all here to thank you. I feel a lot of love and gratitude coming from them to you.” Words cannot

fully convey their feelings. I only hope that Brian can feel this too.

“Thank me for what?” Brian asks me.

With this question, I immediately begin to receive images and

impressions from Brian’s father. “I take it your father and his father worked with their hands. I see a shop or garage? It seems busy. I get the feeling of dread with this though. I am not sure that he liked his work.” I tell Brian.

“That is an understatement.” Brian interrupts me. “My father,

his father and his father before him were mechanics. My father

worked for a while in the family business, a garage. It goes way

106 ~ Heart Disease, Call to Love

back. They worked on engines almost from the time that they were

invented. My father hated it though.”

“I get the impression from your father that he was a jack of all

trades. Did he sell cars too? I see him in what looks like a car lot.”

Brian quickly answers. “Yes, he sold cars for a while. Then he

went on to selling insurance. His last job was as a manager at an

auto parts store. He was always searching for the job that would

make him happy. I don’t think he ever found it through.”

“Your father is telling me that he wanted to be free. He felt that

work was a burden. He is apologizing for his complaining and now

understands that he could have been happy in any of these jobs.” I

share with Brian.

Brian breathes deeply and tells me. “That is quite a leap in

growth for him. He always said that work was killing him. He felt

burdened by the responsibly of a family. I never asked for much.

None of us did. We all felt kind of guilty for making him so miser-

able.”

“Your Uncle Jim is now coming in. I get the impression from

him that he worked in the mechanic shop too. He was a bit of a

grump, it feels like. I imagine that he was not a friendly and outgoing Uncle. Did he have a heart attack too? He is also clutching his chest. “

“Yes, also died young.” Brian shares. “I still do not understand

why he is here. I barely ever really spoke to him. Actually I was afraid of him.”

“It occurs to me.” I tell Brian. “That there are marked differ-

ences between you and most of the other members of your family.

They do not seem as if they were the happiest bunch when they

were here in the physical world. I get the impression that you are

self-aware and did not follow the family work tradition. Do you

help others? Are you in the medical field? I keep seeing you work-

ing with people on improving their health.”

Heart Disease, Call to Love ~ 107

“I am a chiropractor.” Brian shares with me. “This is a sec-

ond career. I started off in computer programing. I enjoy figuring

things out, seeing patterns and finding solutions. I switched from

working with things to working with people.”

“A spirit guide of yours has just come in.” I tell Brian. “He calls himself Dr. Lin. I feel that he is guiding you as you work with your patients. He is showing me an image of you at work. He is standing

behind you. Directing and helping you in your work. He says that

you are a quick learner. I get the impression from him that he was

attracted to working with you because of your devotion and your

intuitive aptitude.”

“This is one reason I wanted a reading. I get a feeling when I

am in the clinic that there is someone with me. As I am working

on people I am beginning to see images and I am guided to certain

parts of their body. Important connections within the mind, body

and spirit that I never knew existed and I didn’t learn in school are intuitively coming to me. I am really excited by what is happening.

Is there anything else that Dr. Lin wants to share with me?” Brian

asks.

“He tells me, to tell you, not to forget the important service that you are providing for your family. He is not talking about your

family here in the physical. It is your family on the other side that he is referring to. I get the impression that this is why they are here today, your father, uncle and grandfather. You were born into the

family for a purpose. You have been healing the family patterns. I

get the impression from Dr. Lin that there is a long term history

of heart disease in some form in the family. You are helping to

heal not just the physical, but the mental, emotional and spiritual health as well. He is assisting you.” I tell Brian.

“I think I understand. I have always felt that I wanted to help

my father. He clung to his beliefs and couldn’t move forward. He

was always so unhappy and searching for the next best thing. Never

108 ~ Heart Disease, Call to Love

content in what was. But, how am I helping them now?” Brian un-

derstandably asks me.

“Dr. Lin says that your father, uncle and grandfather are close

to you. Their guides and angels have sent them to you to learn.

Through you they are discovering how to grow and heal. I get

the impression that they felt that life owed them happiness. They

smoked and drank and hung out at bars, looking for a good time.

Yet, they were miserable. Your joy comes from giving to others and

helping where you can. I get the impression that this was not some-

thing that they would have considered. Working was just a way to

make money. This was their contribution to their families. They

paid the bills. But in most ways they were absent. I feel that they are learning how to open their hearts and give.” I share with Brian.

“Soon before my father’s death I remember feeling that he

would not be here very long.” Brian continues. “Even though he

was not sickly, he did not live a healthy life. He was overweight,

his diet was horrible and he liked his beer. I tried to talk to him about it. But, he laughed at me. I think he thought that I was not a

“real man”, whatever that meant. He would often tease me because

I exercised and ate a vegetarian diet … wow, the tables have turned.

Now he is learning from me. I never thought that this would hap-

pen.”

As Brian is talking I feel his father’s presence begin to commu-

nicate with me again. “Your father wants you to know that he re-

spects you and he likes the person that you are. He is showing me

a Buddha statue and what looks like a meditation pillow. I get the

impression that you meditate. This may sound hard to believe but

your father says that he is meditating with you. His heart is open-

ing. I feel so much love coming from him to you.”

Brian laughs and tells me. “Your right, the image of my tough

beer drinking father meditating is almost too hard to believe.

Please, tell him that I love him.

Heart Disease, Call to Love ~ 109

“Your father thanks you.” I share with Brian. “He says that he

lived his life as your father with a closed heart. No wonder he had a heart attack. His spirit couldn’t take it anymore. He had to learn how to feel and express love. He couldn’t do it here. But he wants

you to know he can now.”

Suicide and Transformation

to New Ways of Being

One of the most common reasons that people come to me for

readings is to communicate with loved ones who have com-

mitted suicide. For people who have lost loved ones in this way,

the journey to healing can be long and difficult. The decision to

end one’s life, very rarely if ever, makes rational sense to those who are left behind. They almost always feel guilty and believe that they could have done something to prevent this tragedy. Life is never

the same after a loved one’s suicide. Those left behind in the physical realm can experience confusion, anguish, unrelenting grief and

senseless loss. It can take a long time to fully heal and accept the heart-rending passing.

I have communicated with hundreds of spirit people on the

other side who took their own lives. Their earthly family and

friends come to me in part in the hope that I can shed some light

on their decision to end their life. My clients sit in rapt attention in my office, wanting to hear from their loved one and know that

they are finally at peace. Even though they desire to understand and know why their loved ones left the earth in this way, once revealed, the reasons never seem justified. The problems, stresses, depression
111

and suffering that led to their loved one’s decision to leave the earth in this way never makes sense.

Transformation

The impulse to end one’s life is a confused response to the cry of

a soul in crisis. From the depths of one’s being the soul sends a

wake-up call to the conscious self. Serious and profound change
