“Would you mind if I joined you and the kids on your ride? I’ve got my bike right over there,” she asks not letting go of me. And it is exactly then when my all time
favorite song comes to me. I wrap my arms around her back inhaling her exquisite scent and allowing the purest of joys to overwhelm me. I hold her tightly and squeeze her as close to me as I can. Then I release her only slightly so I can look at her face. We are nose to nose looking into each other’s eyes.

Elton John’s ‘Your Song’ plays in my head. I hear the lyrics about how wonderful life is now that that special person is in the world
. . . I’m staring into Caroline’s hazel
eyes and thinking about Victor Hugo’s words when Elton’s last line, my favorite lyric of all time, comes to me and, for the first time ever, I recite the lyric out loud.

You should look it up sometime. Because, in case, you’ve been wondering
. . . .

That’s
my song.
