Hello again!

I’m so glad you could join me for this final installment in the PENNIES FROM HEAVEN series. In some ways the last book in a series is always the hardest to let go because you’ve fallen in love with your characters. That’s certainly true with Dallas and Gracie. They started off with such high dreams and sank to the pit of despair before finding each other again.

Gracie had six years to stew and fuss and worry. Though depending on God was always her best choice, she had to make the decision and stick with it in spite of her worst fears. Dallas wanted to honor the commitment he made, but with no past to guide him, he had to hang tight to his faith. What God really wants is for us to be like Misty, blind to everything but the path He leads us on.

I would love to hear from you. Write to me at [email protected] or via snail mail at Box 639, Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada S0E 1E0. You can check me out on the Web at www.loisricher.com.

Till we meet again I wish you God’s richest joy, His deepest peace and His unfaltering love.

Blessings,

Lois Richer

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION
  1. Discuss a time when your deepest hopes and dreams were crushed. What was your response? Did you think this was God’s punishment? How did you move on?
  2. Many people believe being a Christian means a guaranteed life of ease. List Scriptures that disprove this theory. Besides Heaven, what does being a Christian guarantee?
  3. In the story, Misty was born blind. This presented a new set of problems for her mother, but made Misty more attuned to her other senses. Because she’d never known anything else, Misty maximized her sensory abilities. Suggest ways personalities have an impact on our responses to others. Are there ways we can enhance our natural God-given abilities to improve the way we see, hear or touch the lives of others?
  4. Elizabeth Wisdom took great care that the Bar None boasted the latest equipment and most highly trained employees to maximize the children’s results. Discuss the impact charities have in your communities and ways you can assist them in helping others.
  5. Dallas struggled to understand some past choices he’d made. Share ways to ensure our decisions are made for the right reasons.
  6. Most people have issues that push their hot buttons and add worry and concern. Are there ways to diminish these effects? Discuss practical solutions for cracking the cycle of fear.
  7. Gracie discovered that her daughter was picking up on her personal problems even though Gracie tried to hide them. Children are particularly susceptible to their parents’ beliefs, actions and doubts. How does this impact the parental role? What positive things can children adopt from their parents?
  8. Because of one very negative interaction with Dallas’s parents, Gracie built up a problem that loomed large in her life. Share events that you over-magnified. Did any later turn out to be blessings? How so?
  9. When is fear beneficial to a Christian? What impact have your fears had on you? What role has your faith played in overcoming your fears?
  10. The nuclear family is shrinking in society. List ways we can protect our families so that our beliefs and ethics are passed on.
