The sensations drove Michelle to her release with a scream of pleasure. With her orgasm he let himself go, pounding inside her. He groaned her name against her breasts and his come filled her. He rolled to his back with their bodies still intimately connected while they tried to catch their breath. The bed made a painful groaning sound before it shifted beneath them and then it gave out. The mattress and base hit the floor with a thump and they looked at each other before laughing.

“You broke it, you bought it,” Bior shouted. “You’re incessant copulation is destroying the house and incredibly noisy!”

They laughed even harder, and that combined with her body occasionally shaking with mini tremors of delight. They settled down from their laughter and he stroked her body as they waited for her body to cease trembling. All the while he whispered words to her in a language that sounded ancient but beautiful and lyrical.

“What are you saying?” she whispered.

The moonlight spilled through the open French doors and across the bed. To Michelle the sheets practically shimmered and caused his handsome face to look as if he was carved from marble.

“We say these words when the male dragon feels he has caused his female to create eggs,” Mursi said. “I think for all the times we’ve been together, that time we created life.”

“You can tell that?” she asked.

“It’s more like an instinct in us,” he answered. “Maybe hope, but it’s usually correct.”

“And you want this with me?” Michelle asked.

“Very much so, you’re bound to me and my heart and love is yours.” Mursi’s answer was quiet but the words made her heart leap. “For too long I’ve suffered, and you’re right. I will rejoice in what we have and we’ll fight for it together.”

“Then say it right,” Michelle teased, because as much as she tried to deny it she truly needed to hear the words.

“I love you Michelle, daughter of Vatryn and caretaker of my heart,” he said with husky emotion in his voice. “What was once broken you have now healed, and I am forever yours if you will have me.”

“Oh I will have you, Dragon, because we’re mated and my heart is also yours. I love you,” Michelle repeated, and the beast that shared her skin roared. “If we did create a child tonight, like my mother I’d prefer to hold it within me, safe in my belly until the time is right and the danger has passed from this war. Then our family, our children, would be safe to grow free from the vileness of the Shen.”

He picked up her hand and kissed her knuckles. “I agree with you on that, and I will keep you both safe.”

Michelle smiled up at him and amended his statement. “We’ll keep each other safe.”

She heard him whisper it in her ear a few times in the night as they slept and made love. Sometimes it was so intense her heart ached for him, and other times he said it with the wonderment that he truly was in love. She held him tight each time he said the words and said them in return so he knew she felt the same way.

They spent the rest of the weekend in bed and only came out for food. Bior glanced at them in amusement and then at times its exasperation and commented about broken furniture. In the end he shook his head and went out on patrol. Mursi was wallowing in happiness and didn’t care who knew it. He felt new and revitalized even though the pangs of loss were still there. It had evolved to something different, not the burning, gut-wrenching ache but acceptance that while time could not heal those wounds it could change them. Something amazing could grow from loss while not forgetting past loves. Mursi understood that he could give his heart to another and still feel that emotion without guilt.

He’d gone downstairs to clean their tray from the night before and to get them coffee and breakfast. It was his turn since she was the one that made them dinner last night. Bior left a sticky note of thanks for actually leaving him a plate of the meatloaf and mashed potatoes with asparagus on the side warming in the oven. He balanced the tray easily with one hand and opened the door with the other. The sight of her on the bed, legs bent and spread touching herself, almost made him drop the tray. Her head was leaned back against the pillow and her dark hair had fallen across her shoulders and skimmed the tip of her hard nipples. Her lips parted in pleasure and he could hear her tiny gasps while her hips undulated in the rhythm of her fingers on her clit. When she plunged two fingers inside her wet sex, he almost lost it. Having a mate in heat was like being plunged head first into lava. He forgot about the food and put the tray on the writing desk. He took her hand from its position on her sex and licked her juices off them. He groaned and his cock jumped in his loose sweat pants.

“You could’ve called me to assist you in this,” Mursi said. He ran his finger down the slit of her pussy and watched her hips rise reflexively.

“Oh yes.” Michelle gasped and writhed under his touch. “I was hungry, then I wasn’t hungry, it was a toss-up and I decided to play until you came back.”

“I was not disappointed in what I saw in the least.” He moved her finger slowly over her clit. She gasped out his name and spread her legs farther apart in silent plea. “I love how you respond to my touch, do you want more my sweet dragon mate?”

She nodded but Mursi needed to hear it. She was his mate and he needed to feel the dominant excitement of hearing her call his name and beg for more.

“Tell me, love of my life, do you want more?” Mursi asked.

He slid his fingers lower between the folds of her pussy circling the entrance of her wet sex. He would not give her what she sought, so she lifted her hips to take his digits inside her. Watching her bite her lip to keep from moaning was almost as enticing as hearing her moan his name. He continued to switch between circling her clit and barely dipping into the cavern of her pussy.

“Tell me my warrior queen,” Mursi encouraged gently.

She gave a frustrated growl that ended on a moan. “Mursi, use your fingers to fuck me, please baby.”

“Your wish is my command,” he said in approval.

Mursi buried his fingers to the hilt inside her body and she whimpered in delight. A groan was wrenched from him when he felt her pussy contract around the digits. Her hips undulated at a feverish pace as she sought her release. Mursi matched the rhythm easily and give her a little more by leaning forward and sucking her nipple into his mouth.

“Yes baby, I’m coming!” Michelle cried out, writhing on the bed.

“And I’m going to taste you when you do,” Mursi announced.

He never stopped his ministrations as he settled between her legs excitedly. Her body trembled as she reached the summit of her pleasure. He found her g-spot inside her pussy and used that to bring her to completion. His mouth was on her clit when she came and creamed against his hand, soaking his fingers and filling his mouth with her essence. Her tiny mewls of satisfaction were driving him mad. He craved to have her like a drowning man.

He pulled her into his arms and their kiss was fierce and hot. Their tongues dueled and parried and she reached between them to stroke his cock. He loved her hands, how she touched him, each stroke, how she nuzzled his neck, and the way she spooned herself around him no matter how they turned as they slept. There was so much to learn about her but right now he knew that together they were perfect and right. She slipped a long, lean ebony leg over his body like a lithe water nymph, took his hardness in her grasp, and in one simple movement took him inside her. His hands cupped the smooth cheeks of her ass and he plunged deep. Michelle picked up the rhythm of his thrust and together they were magic. He was thick and longer than most men, yet her body accepted each hard thrust as he sank into her heated depths.

“Michelle.” He said her name reverently.

Michelle looked at him poised above her, and the way her body moved almost took his breath away. The sun caressed her skin and for a moment it reminded him of her in her dragon form with her bronze scales. Her slick wetness took him deeper then released him only to bring him back to her succulent depths once more. It was so damn good, he arched his neck as she bent over and sucked on the sensitive skin. Michelle began to tease him by slowly taking his turgid length inch by torturous inch then using her body to piston against him. He played with her nipples and was rewarded by her low cry of pleasure.
All of her now!
The thought ricocheted through his head and he grabbed her to him, impaling her onto his steel-hard cock hard and fast. He felt the building of his release, the tightening of his balls to an almost painful ache, the flush of heat that washed across his body. Michelle took him to heights he never thought possible. They both went over the edge into their orgasm simultaneously, leaving him reeling. They were panting, and she was arched above him until her satisfied body fell against him. Mursi trailed his hands down her body and with his eyes closed just drifted. Breakfast was forgotten for the moment because the woman he loved was kissing him gently on the shoulder and whispering how much she loved him in return.

They went back through the portal three weeks later. They’d cleaned up any Shen they found but the bigger mass was still hiding. Mike was convinced they were in the swamps. Because of the conditions, it was the perfect place for them to wallow and hide in the vast everglades. As usual he wanted to go and to hunt, but she asked him for caution. They were back on Paladin for three reasons. First, for Mursi to announce her to the court as his mate. Second, for her to accept the twelfth seat with the warriors that was offered to her, and third, to get more help and resources to search the everglades just in case Mike’s assumption was correct. They’d done all three quickly, because she got the feeling that Orin wasn’t going to give her a chance to say no again. Or Mursi for that matter, since they’d declared their love for each other.

The man who she had first met and the man she loved now were two different people. They still butted heads, he’d prefer she was out of the fray and protected like the rest of the wives of Paladin warriors. But she was born from a warrior and raised to be a fighter. There was no way she could sit back and watch others go into danger. She doubted very much that Valencia and the other mates would be sitting quiet for too much longer.

The end game was coming soon, and to protect their families and their children she knew they would take up arms. Ginna approached her in secret to ask for more training for her and the others. Raven approached Raul and the other dragons about human guns and maybe crossbows for training. Another attack on Paladin would come. There was no other way to say it and through the discussion of the warriors it was decided that while they wanted the people they protected to be happy and carefree, they must know what was coming and how to defend themselves. Orin made the decree that Paladin men and women would train to protect themselves and the place they loved and called home. The winds of change were blowing hard in a realm that had known only peace. For dragons to roam free all would need to work toward the decimation of the Shen.

They sat in the main hall where they held feasts and celebrations. She looked around the room feeling like part of something bigger and yet missing her mother. They’d come full circle, and now the daughter of Vatyrn and the last of the seventh house one again held a place and had a home on Paladin. In the future there would be another generation. The one that rested in her belly, secure until the day they chose to bring her into this world. Michelle knew the day her egg took shape and in her heart she knew it would be a girl. The choice of holding her secure was made by both her and her mate, and they were fine with knowing they protected something more precious than any of the gems on Paladin.

Michelle had plans. She already knew she would use some of the jewelry her mother left to maintain better facilities for her team. She and her mother trained them well and there were too many to bring through the portal to keep them safe. Not that they would leave anyway, just like Paladin their world needed to be protected. She understood Paladin and the warriors were not for humans to know about, but they were losing lives and it was more than most realized. Orin vowed more dragons would keep watch on the earth realm in strategic places. First they would help search for the large Shen cell that had seemingly disappeared.

“You’re deep in thought,” Mursi murmured and kissed her shoulder. “Is it that or are you intrigued by Caye’s father’s cop stories?”

“He is very entertaining, and he reminds me of those guys from the old cop shows. I’m just worried about why the serpent activity decreased in Florida as we followed the nest there,” Michelle said. “Something is so off and my Spidey sense in tingling.”

“Your what?” He gave her a look of confusion.

“Sorry, I liked comic books as a kid, it means my instinct is telling me something is very wrong,” she answered.

“We’ll go back through the portal tomorrow and keep searching,” Mursi said.

“That sounds great. I don’t like leaving my people for too long especially now that Mike has decided to get a testosterone boost,” Michelle answered.

“He had a thing for you, honey,” Mursi answered. “Having an influx of dragon males… It’s a man thing.”

“It’s a stupid thing, they are people we care about….” Michelle muttered and then stopped talking.

She grabbed Mursi’s hand and squeezed to get his attention to where her gaze was in the corner. He followed her gaze and laced fingers with her as they saw what no one else could see. Larissa stood in the corner, her face radiant with a smile and she gave them a nod before she faded away from sight. Mursi brought her hand to his lips and kissed the skin of her wrist. Michelle knew they’d never see her again but she would be the guardian of their children.

Just then Caye’s best friends, Jeff and Dale, rushed into the main hall. Their faces looked worried and Michelle was instantly wary. A sense of urgency gripped her gut, something was very wrong.

“One of the messengers we keep on the other side of the portal just came through with a message,” Jeff said grimly.
