“I don’t know where I’m going.”

“I’ll tell you where we need to go. Did you really
think I’d pick the fight over you?”

“You took your time to make a choice.”

“Backing out of fight has never been in my nature. I
was fighting the need to protect you. They’d seen you. They knew who you were,
and I couldn’t risk the danger.”

“What happened for you to get inside?” she asked.

“We’re leaving together. I don’t need to worry about
them coming after us. We’re going to be gone. I’m protecting you by pulling
out.” He kissed her hand, tightening his hold around her fingers.

“Okay, where shall I go?” she asked. It was late, and
she was tired.

He gave her the directions toward his grandparents’
ranch. “I’ve got enough money to put a down payment on a house or an apartment
if you don’t want to go to the ranch. I think we can stop at a hotel for the
night. It’ll give us chance to talk about the future.”

“I don’t mind living on a ranch. I know next to
nothing about ranching, but I’ll always help out. How do you have so much
money?” she asked. “I mean, I’ve been saving for years so that I’ve got a tidy
sum to get us by, but I don’t have enough to get us a down payment or
anything.”

“I’ve been fighting since I was eighteen. I earn more
than I spend. Twice a week, maybe more I was taking home easily three thousand
dollars a time.”

She gasped. “Okay, erm, I don’t know what to make of
that.”

He gripped the back of her neck, massaging the
muscles. “You’ve got nothing to be worried about.”

“I’ll pay for the room.”

Jasper laughed. “I know you’re not after the money,
baby. We’ll make a go of it. You’ll see.”

Amber didn’t know what to make out of it. An hour
later they were showered and lying in bed together. Neither of them had the
energy to fuck, but she didn’t mind simply being held by him.

“Maybe we should do what Harold and Brooke did,” he
said.

“What? Open a strip club? You’ve got to be kidding
me.”

“No. I couldn’t watch other men admiring this body,”
he said, gripping her ass.

“What about a sex shop?” she asked. “You could parade
around naked holding the products. We’d get a lot of customers coming to see
you.”

She giggled at the look of horror on his face.

“I don’t think so.”

“Okay, I’m out of ideas. I don’t have a clue what to
do. I guess we’re both going to have to work hard at ranching.” She rested her
chin on his chest, looking up at him.

He caressed her cheek. “I’ve got it all covered. I
just wanted you to have a choice. We’ve got the rest of our lives to figure everything
else out.”

Amber nodded, kissing his lips before settling down to
sleep. She trusted him.

Epilogue

Three years
later

Amber rubbed her stomach as she made her way out of
the back of their ranch. The last three years had been amazing. She had been right
to trust him as Jasper knew exactly what he was doing, in ranching and in life.
The first few days after they left the city behind, he gave her directions for the
middle of nowhere. She had driven down a long dirt road, pulling up to an
abandoned ranch house.

“My grandparents left me this in their will. They
didn’t like the way my parents were raising me, so they made sure I’d have
something to fall back on.”

She recalled climbing out of the car and falling in
love with the house instantly. Jasper owned it outright, and together, they’d
spent the next year getting the house and the ranch back to its former glory.
They combined their money, working together to make a life. Within the year the
house was livable, and Jasper started to work the ranch. He told her about his
life visiting with his grandparents and what he learned. She helped it at every
turn as they started to build up livestock. It took her several months of
reading before she knew what she was doing.

Harold and Brooke visited them whenever they could,
but they stayed to themselves mostly.

After the first year, Jasper proposed to her on
Valentine’s Day, to which she accepted. There was no other man she wanted to be
with than him. They were married a month later with Harold and Brooke as their
witnesses.

“Hey, baby,” he said, coming up behind her.

She closed her eyes, sinking against her man. His
hands landed on her stomach, rubbing.
“Hey, yourself.”

“How are my two girls doing?” He kissed her neck then
bent down to kiss her rounded stomach.

“We’re doing okay today.” She ran her fingers through
his blond hair.

“Good. I didn’t know if I could handle more vomiting
in the morning.”

She laughed. “You weren’t the woman hacking her guts
up.”

“You did it so well.” He stood, slamming his lips down
on hers. They’d been married for two years, dating for over three, and the
chemistry, the passion, was as fiery as the first night. Several of the ranch
hands whistled toward them as they passed by.

Resting her head against his chest, she groaned. “I’m
never going to get used to this.”

“Hey, wife, you’ll get used to it.” He brought their
hands up for her to see both of their rings, binding them together.

“I love you,” she said.

The life they left behind had never invaded their life
at the present. Jasper didn’t fight anymore either. He put all of his energies
into creating them a life together.

“I told you to trust me, didn’t I?” he asked, leading
her backwards toward the barn.

“What are you doing?” She felt her body melt at the
heat in his gaze. The rest of the ranch hands would be out rounding up the
cows. For an hour they were alone. The meat she’d prepared for dinner was
cooking in the oven.

“I’ve been desperate for you since I left you alone
naked this morning. You really need to stop going to bed naked, if you don’t
want to be fucked in the morning.” He closed the door to the barn. He lifted
her onto the hay, easing back her dress.

“I want to be fucked in the morning. It’s why I go to
bed naked.” She cried out as he touched her clit.

“Good, you’re ready.” He dropped his pants and slid
the length of his cock inside her. In one quick move he had her pressed against
the wall with her legs wrapped around him. They cried out together as he thrust
inside her pussy. “Look at me.”

She stared into his blue eyes, losing herself again.

“You’re so fucking beautiful, Amber, and I’m going to
spend the rest of my life showing you.”

“I love you, Jasper.” He reached down between them to
stroke her clit.

Within seconds she came and he followed her into
bliss.

He held her close, refusing to let go.

“That didn’t take long,” she said, chuckling.

“You’ve kept me at arms’ length with the puking. I’ve
been taking care of business with my hand.”

She laughed. “I’m really pleased I trusted you.”

“Baby, you should never ever doubt me.” He pressed
another kiss to her lips and she had no choice but to relent. After all, he’d
been right about their lives so far, and his cock was the best in the world.
