He
somehow manages to lift me to my feet. “Call me every day.”

“No. If you leave I swear I’ll never call you again.”

“It’s Thanksgiving baby.” He looks at his watch. “Or it was a few hours ago. You have so much to be thankful for right now, don’t let this get you down.”

“No I don’t. I have nothing to be thankful for!”

“Now you’re being ridiculous.” I tug myself free of his grip and stomp out of the door. He only laughs and shouts after me, “Now what are you doing?”

“I’m going to drink bleach.”
So not true.

Then I’m over his shoulder, which is shaking with the rest of his body. Which is shaking because he’s laughing. “Marie.” I’m thrown onto my bed and a hard and warm body covers me. “I’ll miss you too.”

“Christ, no need to go all soppy on me.”

“You’re a piece of work. You going to be okay?”

Sigh. “I guess I’ll have to be.”

He rubs his nose with mine and kisses my lips
, then he whispers in my ear sweet, sweet words that make my panties wet and make me shudder with a tiny orgasm. Literally. “Call me every day.”

“Do you have to be so clingy?” I joke and wrap my arms around his neck. “Behave baby.”

“I will. Same to you.”

“Okay.”

He smiles, it melts my frozen heart, then he kisses me and I love it. Then he’s gone and I feel empty and lonely and… ooh, Jacob left his ice cream in the freezer. Nom.

Chapter Twenty Four

Asshole and the You Know What Feeling

Marie

So far, the store clerk
has taken away three blunt objects from my grasp. One being the arm of a mannequin, the other being a hanger and the final object of choice (more like the closest object within grabbing distance) was some kind of sparkly table centerpiece.

The reasons behind my wielding these weapons of mass destruction,
(okay weapons of minor damage unless whacked against a sensitive part of the body in which case subject may die or experience severe pain), is Maya. Need I say more?

Oh yes, I need to say more.

Maya. She is no longer my best friend. She’s now my enemy.

“I despise you,” I tell her for the thirteenth time. I’ve been counting. “You suck.” I’ve said this ten times.

She only waves me off, seeming oblivious to my murderous rage. Murderous, shudder. Maybe that’s a bad choice of word.

“You look lovely,”
the dress maker lies through his teeth. Maya cringes with me because I don’t look lovely. I look like a marshmallow having a party with a bunch of fucking sequins and lace.

“Get this off me now.”

“Agreed,” Maya says and shakes her head at the attendant who immediately starts unpinning the various fabrics from the lace gown that falls softly over my curves. The base gown or whatever it’s fucking called. In other words, I don’t care.

I’m the lab rat today. We’re wedding shopping and wedding shopping sucks. My feet hurt, my arms hurt, my back hurts, my entire body hurts and I’ve been stuck with more pins than a pin cushion.

She’s trying to find the perfect dresses for her merry maids. Or bridesmaids, whatever, the meaning is the same in Maya’s mind. Just not in anybody else’s because I am not merry.

Not in the slightest.

Neither is Loryn or Summer.

Unfortunately for her she won’t have any
maids at this rate, certainly not merry ones. I’m about to leave her here or maul her with my finger nails like a bear and Summer and Loryn refuse to help.

Subject:
KILL ME!!!

She took an entire hour choosing a centerpiece! An hour! And then an hour later…. SHE CHANGED HER MIND! I’m going to kill her, I swear… this should be a fun occasion. FUN she says. HA! No, no more. It’s going down. If Godzilla had a bride, this would be her. She almost made a woman cry because one of the flowers in the test bouquet she’s chosen had wilted slightly…. And by slightly I mean the fucking edge of a flower no bigger than a fingernail. IT WAS A TEST BOUQUET.

As you can tell I’m a little bi
t hysterical. Okay, maybe a lot o bit. Help me. Or kill me.

Put that away! He’s fitting something to your waist and you wonder why you keep getting stabbed?” Maya snaps and holds her hand out for my phone. “Hand it over.”

“No.” I even stomp my foot on the one foot high platform I’m standing on.

“Now.”

“I said no.”

“Marie.”

I narrow my eyes, “Touch my phone bitch and I’
ll cut off your hair while you sleep.”

She narrows her own eyes, “Give me that phone or I’ll hide your clothes and make sure you walk out of here naked.”

I grin wickedly, “Honestly babe, I’ve done much worse.”

She taps her chin in thought, “Yeah, you have actually.” Then she starts cackling. “Oh my god, remember the time we flashed James and his friends through our apartment window and the Dean of Admissions drove by behind them?”

I shudder at the memory, “That was embarrassing. Especially when he told your dad.”

“Ugh, what a cunt.”

There was some function that Maya and I went to, Maya’s father had to go because he was a serious benefactor for the College science program. Well the Dean decided to tell her father right in front of us. I quickly escaped because all Maya did was burst into a fit of champagne fueled giggles and all her dad did was sigh and pinch the back of her neck. What made it worse was the fact James was there and Maya just had to announce it was all for him which made him blush and her father almost have a heart attack at the realization his baby girl was no longer a baby and was currently being wooed by his right hand man.

“Your dad didn’t seem surprised.”

Maya starts cackling once more. “Nah, I’ve been flashing people since birth. I think the first time I was three and I peed in the pool in front of the nanny and Daddy.”

What?
“You stripped naked in a pool?”

“Umm… no, I squatted over it. I wanted to see it turn yellow.” She sighs, I think it’s because she’s embarrassed, I’m wrong. It’s a sigh of sorrow. “It didn’t turn yellow.”

“You are disgusting.”

“Yep.” She puts extra emphasis on the P.

“Twisted.”

“I am not.”

“No,” I choke and tug on the fabric that’s pricking my skin all over. “The dude just twisted the… get this fucking thing off me before I bleed.”

“So, why haven’t you told Jacob about your dad yet?” Wow, subject change.

“I haven’t really had time, we’ve been getting on pretty great.”

“That’s not going to change because of your dad you know?”

I shrug, “I know that. I trust Jacob.”

She smiles, it’s big and beautiful. “That’s so…”

“Don’t say it.”

“But it is!”

“I’m warning you.”

“Sweet.” And she says it anyway.

I grunt at her like the big Gorilla on the movie Tarzan grunts at Tarzan when he’s pissed off.
“I’m not sweet.”

“Honey, you are.”

“Dick head, I’m not.”

She grins, unfazed by my snarl
, “Yeah, you’re right. You’re not. Although I remember many times you were extremely sweet. In bed… with me… fondling my…”

“LA
LA LA LA LA!” I start shouting, my fingers in my ears. These are not memories I want to remember.

“Now give me the damn phone.”

“No.” Stomp.

Jacob

“I swear, she means nothing to me. Nothing!” I grip her shoulders, searching for her eyes with my own. My anguish playing on my face and in the tense muscles of my body. “Natalie, please look at me.”

“You say she doesn’t mean anything yet you’ve spent the past month in her bed.” Her voice is empty, devoid of emotion.

“I love
you
, it wasn’t like that. I was weak, foolish. I’ve ruined us for nothing,” I grip the back of her neck, forcing her to look at me. Tears spill from her eyes. “Don’t let this ruin us. I swear I’ll change.”

She hiccups out a sob, her emotion now clear. I’ve broken her heart. “You’ve said that before. Too many times and you never change.”

“I can’t live without you.” I place her palm flat against my chest. “Feel it. It’s yours, it’ll always be yours.”

“When it’s not someone else’s you mean.” She scoffs and shoves me away. “I hate you. Hate you
for making me feel this way.”

“Don’t say that, please.” My head shakes, I disagree, completely and totally. This isn’t the end.

“That’s a wrap!” The director calls and I take a step back from my coworker. “Brilliant. We’ll run through it again in a minute, when you force her to look in your eyes, dip your head slightly. Say it quieter.” His instructions continue, I absorb his guidance like a sponge in water.

“That was fucking awesome,” someone comments, I don’t turn their way. My mind is on one person only. One person who isn’t here but I can see her name on my phone screen. She’s emailed me.

I don’t hesitate to respond.

You have a penis? O_o

If you keep the boobs I can overlook a penis… I think. Please don’t show this to anybody. It may be misconstrued.

I’m on a ten minute break while they remake the set. I messed up with the eye contact and the volume of my voice so we’ve got to go through that again in a minute. It’s going well though.

Definitely Skype later. Hell yeah. Why would you even ask me that?

Will you be naked? Please tell me you’ll be naked. Will you have a toy? Please tell me you’ll have a toy.

P.S. Inserted word (I’m not sure if I should say this but I’m going to say it) EVERYTHING. I miss your everything. When you were begging me to say I came this close . < -- (See that dot?) I came that close to staying. If you’d begged one more time I would have stayed.

P.P.S.S. What are you doing today? Tomorrow? Tell me everything, I won’t get to read it until later.

Yeah I have a penis!

A guy named Jake is looking after him for me. Keep him well pumped.

I’m going out with Kev again in a couple of hours after I’ve dealt with Maya. She and James are picking out rings together, they want a second opinion. Don’t ask me why, I don’t have a clue. Have you started planning the bachelor party with Lucas yet?

I started on the bachelorette party a few weeks ago. I have a plan but I can’t book anything because Maya keeps changing her date. Which is driving everyone crazy as you already know.

P.S. I miss you too. More than I should.
Xox (Don’t show this to anybody, they may misconstrue it and think me to be a sweet person… I can’t have my reputation slandered so badly.)
