She opened sapphire eyes and stared into his with a tender smile. She understood, she felt the same. Dusk began to fall as they lay contentedly together.

Later, comfortably situated, Ronnie's burnished sable head resting in the tender embrace of her husband's shoulder, they began to talk, to laugh, to plan their lives. Funny, though, they didn't really need to speak to communicate. Their, silences were always companionable.

It was during one of those silences that Ronnie realized the vision of dark eyes would always impose upon any other She would never forget the pale blue—she didn't want to. But those wonderful dark eyes that had haunted her from first sight would beguile her for eternity with love, with tenderness, with the understanding that would last even beyond youth and passion. . . .

Drake adjusted his length, as always, sensing her moods.

Dark-brown eyes stared into hers even as she envisioned them, gentle with the understanding she cherished.

"I love you," he said softly. It was all that was necessary.

"Forever," she returned with a smile.

His lips descended upon hers with gentle, overwhelming command, and there was no past.

Only a glittering future of love . . . together, forever.
