Saturday night and most of Sunday, they hadn’t done much other than talk and cuddle. He loved that Deacon enjoyed snuggling so much, but hoped they would do a bit more than that and oral the next time. Especially considering Kade had seen the swing and ropes in the playroom. He’d even told Deacon how much he loved being bound when his Sir was in total question mode.

“Earth to Kade,” Katie said, interrupting his thoughts of Deacon. “I’m sure he likes you. Why wouldn’t he?”

Kade pointed to his chair, his usual worries rearing their ugly heads before he managed to push them down again.

“Eh.” She waved his words away. “He knew about your chair and mobility issues when he asked you out, you goof. That’s no reason to worry.”

When she opened her mouth to continue, he cut her off. “Don’t you have victims to prep?” He eyed her, then his computer. “I know we have patients scheduled for today.”

“Brat,” she snapped but then giggled. “Fine, I’ll stop prying, for now. But remember, I just want you happy, Kade. That’s why I ask these things.”

He held out his arms and waggled his fingers. A moment later he was wrapped in her embrace as she sighed. “I know, Katie girl, and I appreciate your fussing most of the time. I just… I don’t know. I want to keep our time together to myself for now. Okay?”

“Yeah, it is. Can’t believe that Dane’s the one that found you a guy, though,” Katie groused and pulled away. “Seriously, how does a straight guy find you a date when I can’t?”

“Stop pouting, hon. It makes your pretty face all scrunchy. Now, smile, go to work, and plot ways to get your boyfriend back for being a great judge of gay men.”

Happier than he could ever remember, Kade was still chuckling as Katie exited his office. He was still scared, but for now the doubts seemed quiet, letting him breathe and enjoy life. He hoped things continued to go so well.

Alone again, Kade took a few minutes to do his regular stretching exercise for his legs, as he did multiple times a day, both for his comfort and health, as well as in hopes of being able to better please Deacon. As he booted up his computer and checked his schedule—something he did every day, even though he never forgot an appointment or surgery—his cell chimed. When he looked at it, there was a text from Deacon.

Have a good day, boy. Know I’m thinking of you.

A huge smile on his face and a lightness to his heart he was unaccustomed to, he turned to begin his workday and his preparations for his patients.

his office door and stepped out to where his assistant worked, looking around when she wasn’t at her desk. “Lina?”

“Just a second,” her disembodied voice said. A moment later, she stepped around the corner, two cups of coffee in hand. “Yes, sir?”

“I’m… wait, is that for me?” Deacon asked, confused as Lina handed him one of the mugs.

“Of course it is. It’s eleven-thirty.”

“Right.” He hated that she knew him so well. “I’m heading out actually, but I will be back in time for my two o’clock.”

Lina looked up with her big brown eyes that always made him think of the term

. “You don’t have a lunch appointment today, Mr. James.”

A snicker slipped out as he grinned down at the petite little woman who guarded him and his office better than any soldier could. She was fierce, protective, and loyal, but she was also meddlesome at times, and of course, today had to be one of those. “I am allowed a social life, yes?”

“Well, yes, of course. I didn’t mean it that way, but you usually note on your calendar when you’re going to be out of the office. That’s all I meant.”

Getting her flustered was one of the joys of having a personal assistant. “Last minute. I will be back in time, so just be the happy, polite woman you always are and keep all the rabid annoyances at bay while I go have lunch.”

At that, she smirked and nodded. “Of course. Have a good time.”

Twenty minutes later, Deacon sat at a small table at Fierce, a local BDSM club, sipping coffee as he waited for his best friend and old college buddy, Sam Skyler, to join him. Pulled out of his thoughts when the chair across from him scraped against the wood floor, he looked up.

“Hey, Deacon. What brings you here for lunch? Your message was a little cryptic.”

“Change of scenery?”

Sam snorted. “Pull the other one, man. Seriously, what up? You never come by the club, so….”

“It’s Kade.” Deacon hated going to another Dom for help, even if it was one of the best men he had ever known. “I have some ideas and have done some research, but I’m worried about how far and how fast to take things with him. You think you would be willing to stop by tomorrow evening and bring Jake with you? Another sub might be able to feel out what Kade really wants as opposed to what he thinks I want.”

“I’ll talk to Jake. I won’t make him if he’s not comfortable though.”

“Of course not. I don’t know him as well, so I didn’t want to ask him, plus I wouldn’t do that without you in on it anyway.” Deacon rubbed his temples.

“What’s got you so freaked? You’re usually the calm, cool one.”

Yeah, usually, as in before he’d had the kindest, sexiest sub counting on him to want him no matter what, to know how to push him without breaking, to give pleasure in his pain without hurting him…. “Kade’s so scared I’m going to tire of the modifications he needs that I don’t trust him to use his safe words or speak up about anything right now.”

“That’s… I would say that’s not right, but you told me about his chair and all. That’s got to be hard on him.”

“That, and it seems the community, well, the Doms he knew at the time didn’t seem interested in him once he was in the chair. I haven’t pushed too much yet about the attack and subsequent changes in his life, but if you saw how skittish he is at times….”

“We’ll support you and your boy. Well, I can promise I will, though I can’t imagine Jake not wanting to help. You know he takes the wellbeing of the house subs personally.”

Deacon nodded, having heard over the last year or so how dedicated Jake was to protecting others. The boy had gotten himself badly injured helping one of the other subs who worked for the club when he found out the kid was being abused at home.

Sam clapped his hands together, the crack loud enough to make Deacon and a passing worker jump slightly. “I’ll talk to Jake and, barring some bizarre meltdown of the universe, we’ll see you at your home tomorrow.”

“Wonderful! And thanks, Sam.”

“No worries. You know I’ve always got your back.”

on his porch, staring at the mountains that surrounded the area and the night sky beyond it, enjoying the slight bite to the evening air. Of all the places he had traveled, the mountains were still the most beautiful things he’d ever seen. His cell ringing startled him, but the ringtone, “Uprising,” made him smile. He’d downloaded it and assigned it to Deacon the week before, and every time he heard it, his heart raced.

Fumbling for the phone, Kade managed to get it to his ear before voice mail kicked in. “Hello?”

“Hello, boy. How are you tonight?”

God, he loved Deacon’s deep voice, it was all dark and sensual, and Kade knew the man wasn’t even trying. “Good, Sir. You still want me to come over tomorrow night?”
Please say yes!

“Of course, with your overnight bag this time.”

Yes!
“Yes, Sir. It’s already packed.”
Damn, way to sound too needy.
“I—”

“Relax, Kade. I’m glad you’re excited. I have a few things planned for us, including more extensive time in the playroom. Would you like that, boy?”

A moan slipped out before he could contain it. “God, yes. Please,” he added in a whisper. All he’d been able to think about all week was Deacon. Monday and Wednesday night, Deacon had invited him over. They had eaten and then settled in the living room to watch movies, chatting some during the meal and while cuddled up together on the couch.

Deacon had not, however, allowed Kade to do more than oral once. Other than that, there had been nothing that could be construed as sex no matter how hard he’d been or how much he had wanted to give more. In a way, it was almost cruel, not that he would say that to Deacon. No, he’d fought to not show how frustrated he was, just as he would again if need be. Messing this up by coming off too weak or greedy wasn’t an option. Kade resolved to work hard to please his Dom and give him everything he asked. Period. He just hoped Deacon would ask more of him than he had been.

The pleased rumble against his ear drew him back to the present.

“I’m so glad. I have a surprise for you once you get here tomorrow. Be ready and prepared like I explained to you before, but I want you in your cage this time as well.” Kade’s mind flashed to the heated look Deacon had given him the last time they’d been together when he saw Kade clean-shaven below and caged.

Does that mean a full scene? Full penetrative sex? What the hell does that mean? “Yes, Sir. I’ll be ready to your desired specifications when I arrive.”

“You please me so much, Kade. I hope you know that. But it’s late and I know you need your rest. I wanted to see how you were doing. Good night, boy.”

“Good night, Sir,” Kade replied, excited yet feeling peaceful.

The instructions gave him hope, as did the fact Deacon had called to check on him. After he clicked end, Kade put the cell in his pocket and rolled back inside the house, seriously doubting he would be sleeping anytime soon.

home after his last patient Friday afternoon, so excited he could barely get the door of his home unlocked and open. He was going to Deacon’s! He needed to be ready! He hoped that really meant what he thought. He so badly wanted things to work with Deacon. Of course, the fact Deacon had invited him over twice earlier that week made the anticipation higher.

Dropping his bag on the couch, Kade hurried to shower and dress, though nothing was actually fast when you had to deal with a wheelchair and legs like his, but he had planned for that, deliberately making his last patient appointment earlier than usual for a Friday. He dried off and moved back to his chair before rolling into the bedroom. Kade maneuvered onto his bed and spent fifteen minutes working through his stretching exercises before he lay back. He then picked up the double cock ring that went with his cage and carefully slipped it on, thrilling at the feel of the cold steel against his freshly shaved skin. Focusing, he gathered the cage and fitted it into place. He hoped Deacon would be happy. He had seemed to love it the previous weekend when they’d played. The memory made his breath catch, and his dick tried to harden, but of course, it couldn’t do anything within its confines.

With a last look at himself caged, Kade sat up again and went through the slow process of getting dressed and ready. It always took time, but he still wasn’t used to the cage, so he had to be even more careful than normal not to hurt his bits and pieces. Showing up at his Dom’s with an injury

didn’t sound like a good idea. When he was finally dressed, Kade gathered his cell, keys, backpack, and overnight bag, then headed out to his car, taking the time to make sure he’d locked up properly.

Once he and his things were in the car, Kade took a deep breath, said a silent prayer to any deity that would listen, and pulled out into traffic, pointing his car to Deacon’s—and hopefully a weekend to remember.

at the sight before him, confused more than hurt, though hurt was catching up fast. When Rose, the cute little spitfire who worked for Deacon, had answered the door and told him to go on into the front sitting room, Kade had thought nothing of it. He’d met her a couple of times when he’d come over during the week. He and Deacon hadn’t been together unless you counted cuddling while watching movies or chatting. Blinking back the tears threatening, he had a sinking feeling he now knew why.

Kneeling in front of Deacon was a beautiful man, long, lean, and—Kade knew from years ago—able to take anything any Dom he’d ever known could give. Kade hadn’t seen the man since shortly after the attack. The beautiful, kinky, and brilliant Jake Prism knelt by

Deacon!

His thoughts flashed back to that night, the one he wished he could forget, but Kade knew he never would. He had just had a great time at Fierce with a Dom he didn’t know and Jake. He didn’t often play with other subs, but Jake was always so fun and passionate, when the Dom picked them both for the evening, Kade had been more than happy to follow along. Things had been fine until he was outside and almost to his car. That’s when he noticed the group of men following him.

“Hey, fag!”

Kade sped his pace, hoping to make it to his car and get inside. He bit his tongue to stop himself from responding when the men continued to ridicule him. Well, until one of them grabbed him by his arm and spun him around. “Let go,” he demanded, trying to pull free of the iron grasp.
