Chapter 20 – Apollo

Kasey and I made our way down to the bar at the hotel and sat out beachside. They had a live jazz band playing and the atmosphere was serene and tranquil. I was really conflicted with my feelings right now. I knew I had strong feelings for Kasey, but when I thought about the situation I didn’t know Kasey as a person aside from her being with Jaden and the things they went through. I wanted to get to know Kasey as the individual. I was pondering if my thoughts for her were related to the Hero’s Syndrome, that Kasey was my damsel in distress. When I woke up this morning my mind was made up that I would be letting Kasey know about my feelings and see if we would be able to establish something; however after everything my mom had told me today I just wasn’t sure about any of it anymore.

“Apollo you going to let me in on what’s going on with you?”

“Not sure you ready for that yet, why you don’t tell me something about you I don’t know. What are your dreams?”

“I used to have dreams of becoming this top notch executive consultant when I got my MBA; however those dreams took a backseat when I became a mother and a wife. Not too long ago I did get some consulting work that wouldn’t require me to go in the office.”

“That’s what’s up, how you like it?”

“I love it, it gives me purpose. You know when the boys went to school I had nothing but time on my hands with nothing to do. I don’t think the Susie Homemaker thing is for me, it got played out really quick.”

“So what you on your independent woman thing now?”

“Well, I think every woman should have something going on for herself regardless if their husband, boyfriend or baby daddy takes care of them. A woman should never get so caught up in them that she loses her own identity. Compromising self should never be an option,”

“Is that your way of telling me that you are done with relationships and love?”

“Nall, I haven’t given up on it just because my marriage didn’t work and I’m not. I know there’s that someone special out there that was made just for me. Someone that will know what I need before I do someone that I’m connected to emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually; so much to the point that if we are not around each other, we can still feel each other. You know what I’m saying?”

“I hear what you saying,” I replied.

We sat there for a while without talking; it appeared that we both were in our thoughts. I wrestling with myself on whether or not I should divulge my feelings.

I thought to myself,
What the hell if I never say anything I will always wonder.

“Aye, come on Kase let’s go back upstairs, I want to talk to you about a couple of things.”

“Well damn, it sounds serious. I hope you not about to tell me no more bad news.”

“It depends on what you define as bad.”

No other words were exchanged between the two of us, as we made our way back to the room. As soon as we made our way inside of the room I took a seat on the couch

“Come here Kase, I want to be eye to eye when I tell you what I got to say.”

“Okay, I’m really starting to get scared.”

“No need to, you asked me to let you in my world and I’m about to.”

“Dammit man, why you just didn’t say that shit in the first place. Got my nerves all bad, feeling like my anxiety about to kick in.”

“Kase, do you feel a connection to me?” I interrupted her rant.

“Ummmm well yeah Apollo. You have been there for me through a lot; I think it’s only natural.”

“Fuck all that, I’ve wanted you since the day I laid eyes on you, but the cards just didn’t work in my favor that night. I know it sound bad me telling my cousin wife that I want her; however the hearts wants what it want. If Jaden had been that guy, I never would come at you like this. What I’m trying to say is he fucked up, you say you’re done with him so why should I sit back and let someone else get you when I know you were meant to be mine in the first place.”

“Apollo I don’t even know what to say right now, better yet if I should even say anything.”

“You don’t have to say nothing Kase, I just needed to get this off my chest. I had this dream about you last night that seemed so real. I could feel you and smell you, then when I woke up and I couldn’t believe it was an actual dream.”

“Wait a minute; you had a dream too last night.”

“What you mean too?”

“Because I had a dream about you as well that felt real.”

“That’s your word? What was it about?”

“I’m not about to go into all that.”

“You don’t even have to tell me because I felt you in mine so I already know what it was about.”

“So what now?”

“Nothing, you know how I feel and in so many words I already know how you feel. You get yourself together and if it’s truly meant it will fall into place. Nothing has to be worked out tonight or tomorrow for that matter. Right now the main objective is to get you and the boys situated.

“Ok, cool. So what you about to do?”

“Take my shoes off, kick back on this couch and relax.”

“Wait a minute, what will people think if they knew you stayed here,”

“No disrespect Kase, but worrying about what people thought about you is part of the reason why you stayed with Jaden so long. You gone keep putting people in front of you or are you going to do what makes Kase happy for once.”

“How do you know that you staying here is going to make me happy?”

“The eyes never lie, that’s how I know.”

Kasey didn’t verbally respond to me, she just laid the back of her head on my chest as she exhaled heavily. I wrapped my arms around her body and whispered into her ear, “Everything is going to be okay, but I’m tired let’s go get some rest.”

Kasey got off the couch and led me to the bedroom area of her suite while cutting off the lights.

“Kase you don’t have to be nervous, I’m not going to try anything with you tonight. I know you’re vulnerable right now no matter how hard you’re trying to appear to be so strong. When I get you I want you for a lifetime, I don’t want no oops this shouldn’t have happened shit.”

“Apollo I never noticed, but you talk a lot of shit you know that.”

“Yeah I know and you’ll grow to love it.”

Kasey disappeared in the bathroom to put on her nightgown. I just kicked off my shoes, took off my T-shirt and decided to sleep in my basketball shorts with my tank so things wouldn’t be awkward for Kasey.

“I hope you don’t snore Apollo.”

“Nall I hope your ass don’t snore.”

We got in the bed at the same time, it surprised me when Kasey came and laid part of her body on top of my chest and began to massage the top of my head with one of her hands.

I thought,
Damn that head massage was feeling good, I could get use to this
as I begin to drift off to sleep.

“Apollo do you hear that?”

“Hear what Kase.”

“Our hearts beating together.”

I bent down and begin to passionately kiss Kasey as I allowed my hands to roam over her body. Kasey climbed over me as she began to straddle me while never breaking our kiss. I cupped her ass squeezing it bringing her deeper into me so that she could feel the growth in my dick that she causing. Kasey broke the kiss and begin staring in my eyes.

“Apollo I know you told me how you feel about me, I want you to show me now.”

I didn’t respond to Kasey because I knew she wasn’t ready for what would come behind it if we went there tonight. I kissed her on the forehead and pulled her back down to lay on my chest.

“Kasey I don’t want any regrets between us, so just for tonight let’s just enjoy each other’s presence.”

Kasey and I drifted off into sleep wrapped up in each other. The next morning I woke up to a sleeping Kasey still in my arms. I bent down and kissed her on the forehead while tightening my grip around her as she began stirring in her sleep.

“Good morning Kase.”

“Good morning Apollo.”

“How did you sleep?”

“Good, shit I haven’t slept that good in a long time.”

“I’ve been known to have that kind of effect on people. Come on and get up so we can go by your new house.”

Kasey and I got up and got our hygiene together so we could get this day started. I told Kasey we would get breakfast after checking the house out first. It was this little diner down the street from her house that had the best breakfast ever. As we left out the room and got on the elevator, Kasey turned to me and said,

“I know to the natural eye this is going to seem so wrong on many levels, but it felt right in your arms last night.”

“Let me find out you feeling me,” I said to Kasey as I hugged her from behind placing kisses on the side of her neck. I only looked up because I heard the ding sound letting me know that the elevators doors were opening up.

I looked up and right there in front of us stood Jaden and the girl he was dating prior to Kasey staring at me and I thought,
Fuck, I really need to get better with this timing thing.

“What the fuck? So they trading trap houses for bitches now, where the fuck they do that at cuz?”
