Chapter One

Adelaide sat in front of her vanity.  The ivory handle of a brush Daman, her lover, had stolen from an African tribe a few months back rested in her dainty hand. She held her thick blond hair with one hand as she gazed at the way the curls caressed the bristles of her brush, flipping back almost of their own accord. The corners of her sensuous, pink lips turned up into a smile at the sensation of the hard bristles pulling, lightly at her scalp. It was calming and even slightly orgasmic. She had only made it through half of her heavy, full head of curls when she heard the flap to their tent shift.

Her heart flipped in her chest, but she sighed as she realized who it was.  She saw the figure of Daman materialize behind her in the mirror. Her blue eyes went wide at the image of him standing there.  His deep, olive skin glimmered in the soft light. His black eyes seemed to penetrate deep down into her soul, even through the lens of a mirror. She scanned him and took in the sight of him.   His wispy white-gray hair he wore in a ponytail at the base of his neck, his broad shoulders, and the perfect muscles cut beneath his smooth, seamless skin enticed her.

“How goes the night?” she asked as he ran his phantom hands over her shoulders, gently caressing her folded wings.

He shrugged. “It goes.”

Adelaide clamped her jaw shut. She knew him well enough to know that there was nothing more she was going to get by way of conversation for the rest of the night. She swallowed, attempting to dislodge the lump in her throat. Something about Daman made her feel like she was alone, even while she was with him.

He leaned over her, spilling his essence all over her. She tilted her head up towards him as she drank in his satisfying darkness. “I’ve missed you, Addie.”

It was a whisper she could hear deep in the darkest corners of her mind as if he had penetrated her. She thought about smiling. In fact, it would seem that the most natural response would be to smile. Yet, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Something about Daman’s cool, collected, stoic, emotionless gaze bored her impossibly.

“I missed you too.” She lied. In fact, she felt no different with him around than she had when she was alone.

“What did you get into today?” he asked as he continued to stroke her wings and her arms.

“Absolutely nothing.” She snapped, turning to look at him. She flinched at the sensation of his eyes, penetrating deep into her. She felt filled with them, yet drowning in them at the same time.

He frowned. “Most people would find it happy news that your services are not needed.”

Adelaide shook her head. “I am not most people.” She replied with a hard voice. It made her blood run cold the way that he always seemed to mistake her for mere human. She had passed her human life.  Now, she wanted to forget it at all costs.

He just laughed, an action that shook his heavy frame as the sound boomed through the entire room. “Relax.” He replied in a smooth voice, planting a ghostly kiss on her shoulder.

She could feel her bones tingling as his demon-eyes flashed red, a tell-all sign of his own excitement. Like clockwork, she felt her desire mounting. Something about seeing those red eyes flash for her made her want to climb him.

“I mean it.” she pressed, struggling to grasp her thoughts under his fiery gaze.

“I’m sorry. It was just a slip of the tongue. You are just so beautifully human.”

Adelaide rolled her eyes, expertly dodging a kiss of his. “There is nothing beautiful about being human.” she snapped.

He raised an eyebrow, the movement, or rather, ghost of a movement changing his facial structure like a puddle of thick fluid. “Says the angel that fled her life of the skies to live with the humans.”

Adelaide pursed her lips. “I didn’t leave because I wanted to be human. I left because I couldn’t stand living there anymore.” She replied in a harsh voice.

He only laughed at this, the chuckle ringing through the small space. He planted a kiss on her forehead that sent Adelaide into a proper frenzy. Her heart fluttered, battering against her chest as she squeezed her eyes shut and willed herself to ignore the desire knocking on her back door.

“I know. You have told me this story countless times.”

“Only because you aren’t listening to me.” She replied, her voice coming out as an excited hiss despite her efforts to control herself. She titled her head back as he planted kisses under her chin and down the side of her neck. She could feel her nipples harden, poking through the satin housedress she had not taken off all day. His kisses gave her goose bumps, lifting the fine hairs on her skin and drawing her thick, sweet blood to the surface of her skin.

“Stop. Wait.” She interrupted, lifting his head up. The grip was a tentative one, as grasping a demon was one of the most physically difficult things an angel could do and all but impossible to humans.

He lifted his head.  His dark skin flashed white for only a short moment, and the light burned Adelaide’s eyes. She could recognize that anger and frustration anywhere, and it only frustrated her more.

“My God. What is it Adelaide?” he hissed.

“I want you to tell me what has happened today.” She demanded.

He rolled his eyes. “You don’t need to know.”

Her stomach rolled at the sound of that almost-insult coming out of his perfectly formed lips. “I am just as much of a fighter as you are. Of course I need to know.” She demanded.

“I will not discuss these matters with you.” He replied as he snaked his arms around her waist, desire oozing from his skin.

Adelaide sucked in a heavy, shaking breath. Almost against her better judgment, she could feel herself melting in his arms. Her eyes flickered shut as her wings began to flutter. “But, I want to know…”

Her voice trailed off as he kissed her neck again, sucking at her soft skin. A shock shot up her spine as her skin crawled with desire at the sensation of his lips, which taunted her in that impossible way. She needed him, all of him, right now. Her mind registered no thoughts; her body remained completely unable to distinguish self from him. She oozed into his every crevice, and responded to his every touch. She was an amalgam of buttons and switches to be turned, pressed and flipped by him or she would self-destruct.

He waited until she begged him with every bit of her being to kiss her, hovering his lips just over her cheek, her eyebrows, and her eyelids, ran them over her nose and stopped just short of her own lips. He teased her, sending pangs of pleasure throughout her entire body. She was an angel, but his impossible patience drove her mad with desire. Her wings fanned out as it made a whooshing sound, which filled their tent as they forced their way through the heavy air. Her muscles contracted, almost of their own accord as she lifted her feet off of the soil, some of the tension seeping through her wings. She clutched his chest, her fingers slipping easily into  the chain mail covering his chest and lifted him with her.

She slammed him onto their bed, her feet gripping the sheets on either side of him as she straddled him. She could feel him in her fingers and between her legs, his body almost impossible to grasp, but just within reach. With her wings fanned out as she could felt the full extent of her energy. It coursed through her veins like heavenly electricity, driving her to do more and more. Her muscles contracted, pulling Daman up. His chest slammed against hers, the impact oozing through her body and making her bones tremble in their sockets.

His ghostly chuckle rang through the air; rang through her head as he finally kissed her, his lips dancing with hers. She could feel her energy slipped through her skin, out of her mouth and into his, the tension; the pulling and tugging was almost orgasmic in and of its self. She drank him in, revealing in the black-cherry molasses she could feel coursing through her veins. In one quick movement, he popped her satin housedress open.

The buttons flew across the room, scattering, pattering against the soil. She looked at the pearl beads, glinting in the soft light, watching the rest of her housedress float through the air before landing, like a feather against her vanity. He licked her chest, his tongue touching every inch of her chest as he had his way with her, wrapping his perfect lips around her breast. He moved like a shadow, so quick that Adelaide could barely keep up with him. She leaned back, her arms extended with her wings as she felt him caress her, her energy forming a hot dome around them, beads of sweat forming on her forehead and dripping down her naked back.

Soon enough, she couldn’t take it anymore. She slammed him against the bed, ignored the flash of fatigue that shot through her muscles. She sunk her teeth into his should, the taste driving her crazy. She pressed her fingers into his chain mail, the substance melting apart under her touch and exposing his perfect chest. He leaned his head back, stretching his neck taught as she traced her fingers down his chest, her hands effortlessly slipping into his pants. A sigh of satisfaction slipped through her lips as she wrapped her hand around his member, thick, throbbing. Hard.

“Come here.” He hissed as he pulled himself up, sinking his fingers into the skin on her shoulders and forcing her onto the bed.

She gasped as he pressed his fingers into her, his lips sucking at hers, his free hand massaging her beasts. She lifted her arms above her head, allowing herself to be consumed by him. His hands read her every movement, her every breath, giving her exactly what she wanted when she needed it, not a second before, or too late. She sunk her fingers into his back, pressing her bare chest against hers. “Fuck me.” She breathed.

He just chuckled, that sexy chuckle ringing through the air as he continued to finger her. She reached down, easily wrapping her hand around his penis and getting him off. Her knees were hiked up; her feet as far up her body as she could get them as her toes curled under. She couldn’t get enough, bending like a concave lens as he continued to drive himself into her. She moaned and groaned, the sound filling the hot air around her. He slipped up, ripping his fingers out of her as he lifted her hand away from his manhood and pinned them above her head. “Mmm….” She murmured as she watched him stroke his own penis, his eyes trained firmly on her.

“Do it.” She growled. Her frown relaxed and a sigh slipped out of her mouth as he placed himself inside of her, nothing too much, just the tip. He withdrew it quickly. She released a sharp breath. “Oh…” but before she could form her complaint, he drove himself into her. She felt herself stretch to accommodate him, her hips fanning out and her feet flexing at the sensation. He pulled almost completely out of her, and then did it again, the force of it slamming her against the headboard. Her laugh, like bells, filled their little energy cloud, echoing in the small oasis she had built for the two of them.

He flipped her over, pushing her back down and lifting her waist with both of his hands, before entering her again. She moaned, the sound of her enjoyment mixing in with his and she clutched the sheets with her thin fingers, her breasts bouncing backwards and forwards with his every movement. He rammed himself into her, the impact vibrating all the way down her legs and up her torso. His hands pressed deeper and deeper into her hips as he went faster and faster, her wings and her hair flipped back and forth.

She could feel him coming almost as sure as she could feel herself reaching that climax. She squeezed at her lower abdomen to take all of him in, the sensation of his seed shooting into her back walls through her over the edge. Her screams slammed against their energy field as her sweat dripped onto the sheets. She gripped at the headboard; sucking in shallow breaths of air as her orgasm ripped through her body. As it slipped from her fingers and seeped from the pores of her skin the energy cloud vanished and she collapsed onto the mattress, taking him with her.

His panting caressed her skin as he stroked her still-sensitive chest. “I needed that.” He mumbled.

She nodded. “I know.” But she had scarcely gotten those words out of her mouth before her fatigue took over. She could hardly move she was so tired, and even what little energy it took for her to keep her eyes open was too much to bear.

Her wings fluttered back to her side, realigning themselves to her back as she fell into a deep slumber.

Chapter Two

Adelaide opened her eyes to the sounds of the military encampment bustling around her. She sat up, a deep yawn shaking her bones as she stretched her arms over her head. She felt rested, yet tired, like she had run a marathon the day before and only barely recovered her strength through the night. Excited voices darted around just outside of her tent, the ghostly whispers she had become accustomed to morph into screams and screeches of argument. One glance to her right told her that Daman was nowhere to be found. His side of the bed was empty, indicating that he had most likely gone out to train or to meet with the general. She slipped out of bed, her bare feet crushing one of the pearl beads that used to hold her housedress close. With a sigh, she began the long process of gathering all of it. On the one hand, she found it mildly frustrating that the thing had been ruined, but on the other hand, the prospect of actually having something to fill her day with, namely, repairing the robe, was enough to lift her spirits.

She bent down at the foot of her bed for something to wear, sifting through the stacks of leather pants and tight-fitting tank tops designed for spy work and settling on an unassuming denim dress. She had barely rapped her fingers around the piece of clothing before the front of her tent was hastily moved aside, allowing Daman to pass through. She barely looked at her, as he went for his armor that sat stacked on the chair in the back corner of their small room. “That dress is not suitable for today. Put something else on. I have an assignment for you.”
