But Cameron wasn’t hearing her. Cameron grabbed Monique by her mouth. He gripped it so hard that her lips were at the point of splitting.

“Let me go, Cameron, you’re hurting me,” Monique uttered, trying to squirm out of Cameron’s hold.

As expected, the word about Monique hiding in Li’l Boo’s closet had spread all over the city. It was said that Monique was in nothing but a pair of underwear and was recording Li’l Boo and Cherry having sex. Cameron was hit with the news the second he was released from jail and he was angry beyond words. Cameron was at his mother’s house in her spare bedroom, where Monique and the babies had been staying since the gunmen came and shot up their home.

“You stupid as fuck if you even think a nigga would EVER believe some bullshit like that! So cuh must be yo’ little side nigga or something. Tell the truth, Nique! Was he the nigga you was with when you left and weren’t taking my calls?” Cameron demanded to know. He so was infuriated and his pride was on the line, and once again, he was being looked upon as a fool.
First Keisha, and now this bitch. Fuck that shit!
Cameron continued to curse Monique out, calling her every stupid and weak bitch in the book. He slammed her up against the bedroom wall and then held her by her hair. “So you gon’ stand here and keep lyin’ to nigga!”

“I’m not lying, Cameron, I swear on our son’s life!” she sobbed. “I was only there to fix and resolve things, that’s all, Cameron. I was fully clothed and wasn’t recording them having sex. Please just believe me, Cam, I’m not lying to you!” She tried to pull her hair from his hand, but he yanked her back into the wall. “After those men came into our home with those ski masks on and guns looking for you and then started shooting up our home, I thought Li’l Boo had something to do with it. And then I went to his house, hoping to get to the bottom of everything,” she continued. “I just couldn’t think of another person that hated you enough to come after you. I was only trying to help!”

Cameron was boiling over in anger. “I know who the fuck is after me! But if all this bullshit you’re telling me is the truth, then tell me, Nique…what the fuck was you possibly going to do to fix shit with cuh?” Cameron’s monstrous demeanor threw fear throughout Monique’s entire being. She was frightened that he would beat her. She had never seen him so upset before.

“I don’t know what I was going to do,” Monique said truthfully. She didn’t have an answer. “All I know is I wanted the madness to end, because if it weren’t for your mother shooting back at them, we could have all been dead.” She grabbed her husband’s arm, desperate for him to believe her.

Cameron snatched his hand and hauled off and tried to slap Monique, but she scrambled to the other side of the room, leaving Cameron with a hand full of her hair.

“So you gave the nigga some pussy to fix it? When, Nique? You fuck that cuh before or after that slut Cherry?”

“I didn’t, Cameron! He will tell you that. I never slept with him, never in my life. I wouldn’t -”

“How the fuck you know where the nigga lives?” Cameron wanted to know. “What, you a frequent piece of pussy for cuh?”

“Baby, please stop yelling at me. Everybody inside and outside the house can hear you.”

“And the whole gotdamn city of Compton knows that my wife was hiding in a nigga’s closet, the one I hate the most, with no clothes on, while he was fucking another bitch!” He paced the room. “I feel like knocking yo’ ass out like a nigga, cuh, just for disrespecting me. I swear to God!” He flinched at her. “How you now where he stayed at?”

“I asked around -”

“So now you in the city checking for cuh?” Cameron punched a hole in the wall, waking both of his sons.

“NO! NO! NO! Cameron, it wasn’t like that. I went there to talk, that was it! I would never -”

“You’d never what, Nique?” Cameron continued to cut Monique off, looking at her disgustedly. He was tired of hearing her continuous lies. “You’ll never lie, cheat, or hurt me, huh? ‘Cause you did all three and now you got a nigga looking like a fool in these streets. Fuck you, cuh, fuck you!” Cameron retorted angrily.

Monique threw the towel in. She couldn’t convince Cameron to believe the truth and it was heart-wrenching. She dropped to the bed, devastated to the maximum. As Cameron stared down at Monique, she looked up at him, exhausted, and said, “You’ve lied and cheated on me. I’m raising your
illegitimate
child, for Christ’s sake! And still after everything, I believed you, Cam, so why can’t you just trust and believe in me? Cherry lied on me.”

Before Cameron seriously hurt Monique, he stormed toward the bedroom,
officially ready to send Li’l Boo to the morgue
. “Don’t take ya ass no fucking where with my sons either, do you understand me?”

Monique sat on the bed rocking the babies in her arms in time with the nodding of her head and with tears rolling down her face. She tried pleading with him not to do anything that would jeopardize his freedom, but Cameron slammed the bedroom door without any further words.

I’m sending her ass back to her parent’s house and then I’m divorcing her ass, on Crip. Fuck being committed! These ho’s ain’t shit!
Cameron left his mother’s house.

The second Cameron left, Cameron’s sister Tonya walked inside the bedroom without knocking on the door. Tonya had never cared too much for Monique to begin with because of her uppity, goody two shoes nature, but since she was interested in hearing Monique’s side of the story, she sat beside Monique on the bed and began questioning her. Cherry had the streets talking, and she hated that her brother was made to look like a fool by yet another woman with the same man: Li’l Boo.

“You okay, girl?” Tonya asked in a faked genuine tone.

Monique nodded her head yes, although it was clear that she was in bad shape. “I want to be alone,” Monique said to Tonya.

“You gon’ be alone alright if Li’l Boo’s dirty dick ass tells my brother y’all fucked,” Tonya replied.

Monique shot Tonya a look that could kill. “I didn’t screw him, Tonya.”

Tonya sucked her teeth. “Well why was you all in his closet with nothing on but your panties then, Monique?” Tonya rolled her eyes. “I heard everything, so there ain’t use in lying.”

Monique’s eyes grew wide in disbelief. “I wasn’t in his closet in my panties, Tonya. I was fully clothed, and the only reason I was in his closet in the first place was to avoid all of this. It’s all fucking lies.”

Tonya rolled her eyes to the back of her head, sucking her teeth. “So why were you at his house in the first place then? It just don’t make sense to me.” She paused, looking Monique up and down. “I thought maybe you fucked Li’l Boo to get back at my brother for cheating on you with that K.C. and having a baby -”

“Well I didn’t, Tonya,” Monique stated, putting emphasis on Tonya’s name. “Just get out. You can believe whatever you want; I don’t care anymore, alright!” Monique intolerantly waved Tonya off.

Tonya gave Monique a sour expression. “Girl, boo, this is my mama’s house, bitch, and I ain’t gotta go nowhere, so excuse you!” Tonya rose from the bed. “But if my brother goes to prison for killing a nigga over you, you gon’ have some real problems!” Tonya started to the door. “My brother is too good to have to keep choosing you no-good-ass bitches!” Tonya spat before slamming the door behind herself.

Monique grabbed her cell phone, “Little fucking hoodrat-ass bitch!” She steamed inside as
she dialed Cameron up. Monique didn’t want her husband to murder Li’l Boo over her poor decisions and end up going to prison for the rest of his life, but she also had no intention of staying at Cameron’s mother’s house to continue being treated poorly, getting side-eyed, and hearing the ongoing sly remarks from his mother and sister. Especially when her only mistake was going to Li’l Boo’s house in the first place. Her mind was made up to go to her parent’s house.

Monique’s call was forwarded to his voicemail. Without further thought, Monique began to pack hers and her son’s things, and then she picked him up from the bed where he had been lying next to his brother. She had to get over to Li’l Boo’s house to stop her husband from making a fatal mistake.

With her son in her arms, Monique looked back at Cameron’s other junior, whom she c
alled Tiger because he was so feisty, and then decided to take him with her too. Teresa avoided and ignored him and Tonya didn’t acknowledge him period.

I’m going to look so stupid taking Cam’s other son to my parents, but I can’t just leave him here without Cam. Knowing Teresa and Tonya, he’ll probably be left to cry of hunger and be left in wet Pampers. I can’t leave him.
Monique’s heart wouldn’t allow her to do that, so she packed up additional baby clothes and then walked out of the room with a duffel bag in hand, a baby covered up in each arm, and a diaper bag full of baby clothes hanging off of her shoulder.

As Monique entered the living room, she managed to open the front door to leave without the recognition of anybody in the house, and she was glad of it.
Guess I have to drive the Escalade since he took the Ranger Rover.
Monique frowned. It was a five-year-ol
d model that Keisha used to drive when she and Cameron were together and she hated it, which was the real reason it stayed parked at his mother’s house. Cameron had taken the key to the Chrysler to assure that she wouldn’t leave, but Monique had left the door unlocked earlier that day after grabbing the baby wipes out of it.

“Where you going, Nique?” Cameron’s homeboy from his neighborhood, Dime, shone a flashlight in Monique’s direction with a gun in his hand. Since the occurrence at their home, Cameron had two homies at a time securing his mother’s home for their protection.

“I’m going to meet up with Cameron. Now can you please get
th
at flashlight out of my face and grab the other car seat out of the Chrysler for me?” She secured her son in his car seat.

“Cam didn’t call and let me know of any movement.” Dime looked at his cell phone for any missed calls. “He said to make sure you didn’t leave.”

Monique sighed with attitude, “Oh my goodness, whatever, Dime! Don’t worry, I’ll get it myself.” She moved past Dime, grabbed the car seat from the car, and put it in the back of the Escalade.

“Monique, it isn’t safe for you to be riding alone right now.” Dime tried calling Cameron on his new cell phone. He didn’t want to snatch Monique up without his permission. But Cameron didn’t answer.

After Monique placed Tiger in his car seat and then strapped him in, she pulled the heavy metal gate back so that she’d be able to back out of the driveway.
Forget what Dime talking about!
I’m out of here!
Monique climbed behind the driver’s seat of the truck and then told Dime to get out of her way.

Hearing the back and forth between Monique and Dime, Teresa came to the door and yelled for Monique to come talk to her. She had just finished cursing her daughter Tonya out after she came in her bedroom and told her what had transpired between them.

Ignoring Teresa, Monique continued to back out.
Oh, so now you wanna talk? I’m good!

Teresa yelled, “Stop her, Dime!”
Dime was like one of her own sons.

“Ay, Monique, stop. Ma wanna holler at you!” Dime hit the front of the truck in an attempt to get Monique’s attention, but she continued out the gate.

“No!” Monique swerved into the street recklessly. As she took off down the street, a car approached from behind with the headlights off and then suddenly floored it, driving alongside the Escalade, and then shots were fired at the truck.

Monique cried, “Oh my God, oh no, not again…NO!” Stricken with fear, Monique’s eyes widened in fright as she stared at the
masked g
unman’s face hanging out of the back passenger window of a black Impala. He continued to aim and release fire at the Escalade. In a panicked and frightened state of mind, Monique let go of the wheel, concerned for the babies. Dropping low for cover, she quickly crawled in the back seat to protect her crying son and his brother. She yelled at the top of her lungs for them to stop.

“I HAVE BABIES IN HERE! PLEASE STOP!” Monique continued to cry out.

The truck shifted to the left and then slowly crashed into the back of a parked car. The bullets continued to spray the truck, shattering glass exploded from the windows, and then seconds later, the car could be heard burning rubber down the street.

From behind, Dime and another homeboy from his neighborhood ran up the street, busting back at the car until it disappeared off the street.

Monique screamed from inside the truck, seeing blood leaking from Cameron Jr.‘s head while his brother continued to cry violently. “NO! OH MY GOD! SOMEBODY HELP ME!” she cried out until Dime opened the truck door, immediately dialing 911.

Keisha

Poo Baby woke up from the thirty minutes of rest that she had finally dozed off into on the interstate to Miami when she saw Niya’s number flash across the screen of her phone.
Good, it’s not Li’l Boo’s ass calling again. I hope Niya has some good news, please!
Poo Baby reclined her seat in a sitting position and then looked in the row ahead of her to see if Keisha was still asleep before she answered.

“About time, girl! Is everything alright?” Poo Baby put her hand in front of Keisha’s nose to make sure she was breathing. After leaving her grandmother’s house, Keisha took what looked like a handful of pills that she claimed were only a few Xanax to help her rest, but just to be on the safe side, Poo Baby checked on her friend. She knew how Keisha could fall into depression under a lot of pressure.

“Poo,” Niya replied frantically in a hushed tone. “Shit just got real! I don’t think you should tell Kesh.” She began to whisper into the phone.

Poo Baby swallowed the lump in her throat. She remained calm, though her heart rate began to increase. “Tell me.”

“The baby… it’s not looking good, Poo.” Niya sniffled. “Cameron’s wife was driving the Escalade and some dudes shot it up. Both of the babies were inside!” she cried. “A bullet hit the baby in the head.”
