As if on cue, the door to the Major’s office opens and a doctor walks in. I know he’s a doctor because he has a stethoscope around his neck and a name plate on his white coat that says, ‘Doctor Neil Hansen’. You give me that many clues, and I’ll get it right nine times out of ten.

The doctor produces an inoculation gun, rubs a spot on my arm with a sterile cleaning patch and gives me a shot. He looks me in the eye and says, “Welcome to SEAL team thirteen, Lieutenant.” He walks away.

Major Southern continues, “Here’s the information in a nutshell. Any time you want, you can change from human to bear. You become a special bear. Not just a grizzly, but a grizzly on steroids.” He pauses. “Well, you won’t actually be on steroids, you understand. But you’ll be damn big and damn strong. You can run thirty-five miles an hour for hours on end, climb trees and tear things apart.” He pauses again. It’s a long pause and full of suspense and importance. I’m a little nervous. If the part about changing from a human to a bear and back again was simply the introduction to something bigger, I’m in for some tough times.

He continues, “Three things make being a werebear less than desirable as an existence. First, humans hate us. In those few cases where they’ve found out about our kind, the response has been violent and uncontrollable. The second might be looked at as a benefit. We live a very long time, from seven hundred to nine hundred years, and we stay in the military. We can live on base in safety and use our special abilities to defend our country. The last thing is almost completely positive. We mate for life. It’s almost always successful. We’ve haven’t had a divorce in the three millennia we’ve existed on earth.” I happen to be looking at Honoria when he says that. I catch the subtle shake of her head. That’s good. I don’t want to be mated to her either. I don’t think I’d like it.

He finishes, “Honoria will help you make your first change and give you an orientation on the whole business.” He stands up. We shake hands, and Honoria and I leave the building.

She walks ahead of me. I trail behind like a good little fellow. Do I sound bitter? Good. We go into another building that looks like the dressing room for Physical Training. She says, “Go inside and take your clothes off. Close you eyes and think ‘Bear’. That’s all you have to do.” She turns away.

So now I’m naked looking into a mirror. I don’t want this to sound egotistical; but, after Carol blew me off and Honoria treated me like dirt, my self-esteem isn’t exactly standing tall and signing autographs. I take a moment to appreciate the body all my hard work in the Navy gave me. I want my bear to look just as good. We’ll see.

I close my eyes and think ‘Bear’, and I feel it happen. I fall over on all fours and feel my body grow in size. I open my eyes. All I can see is the dense cloud.

It dissipates. Wow. Damn. I am so powerful and so big. I feel like I could fell a Redwood with one swipe of my... I lift up my hand and look at it. I have a paw almost a foot wide with magnificent claws.

I stand on my back feet. I’m nine feet high. In the mirror, I see a bear body a yard wide. I’m good looking, thank heavens. My fur is the same color as my hair, sandy brown. I have the face of a bear, but a bear with intelligence and a nice profile.

I bellow just once to see what it sounds like. I’m in a room with tile walls and floor. It’s deafening. And I like it. Very masculine.

If Carol could see me now. I realize that until now I haven’t thought about her once since meeting Honoria in the bar. Maybe, cheating was her way of telling me it wasn’t working out. Anyway, I’ve got a new life.

I walk out of the dressing room. Honoria is waiting for me. She’s changed into bear form. I didn’t get a chance to look at her before. She’s attractive as a bear. Her fur is a lighter color than mine, and I like her bear face.

She grunts, which I understand is her grumpy, dismissive way of telling me to follow her. I wish she was as beautiful inside as she is out.

We spend the next two hours exploring my capabilities. First, we go to a track that goes around the perimeter of the base. I must weigh a thousand pounds, yet I can propel myself around the track faster than a horse can run. After that, we take swipes at trees. I can feel my claws tear through the bark like it’s butter on a slice of bread.

We change back to human and get dressed. It’s time to meet with the CO in his office. He says, “I’m sorry. I know you need more time to get used to being a bear, but I need a small piece of reconnaissance completed.” He talks just to me. “It’s unlikely you’ll make contact with the enemy or have to deal with anything that requires fighting. Just wander around and listen.” He gives Honoria the location information, and we leave.

I’m beginning to dislike this next part more than anything else. When we’re traveling in the car, right next to each other, she doesn’t talk or look at me. She just drives.

We stop in a parking lot. She shows me the location of the target. It’s a small camp on the coast of the island. I need to change to bear form and walk around. I’ll listen and remember anything I can.

I change into my big, furry self and trot around the camp. They speak Farsi. I speak Farsi too, but they don’t say anything worth remembering. However, they carry silenced Heckler and Koch UMP45’s, very expensive, new and sophisticated. These folks have money behind them.

I see a tent pitched right next to the forest. I run over by it and change to human. The back of the tent is open and I creep in. There’s a desk and a small portable computer. Everything on the computer is in Farsi. Apparently, whoever owns the computer thinks that’s all the security he needs. I get past the welcome screen and bring up the remote session icon. I open it up and enter the ip address of a computer in our comm section. I’m about to press ‘enter’ when I hear a man approach the tent.

I’m naked. I don’t mind being captured, but I don’t want to do it naked. I hit the ‘enter’ key and scurry out of the tent. Fifteen seconds later and I’m a bear again.

Suddenly, a bullet hits the tree next to me. I turn around and see my attacker aiming a second shot. He misses with this one as well. The others in the campground wake up and start shooting. I can’t run away. Time to try out my bear.

I charge out from behind the tent and literally run right into the first man I see. I send him flying across the campground into the ocean. My CO didn’t mention it, but the acceleration as a werebear is incredible. I can go from standing still to a blur across the landscape in a second. I run around hitting as many as I can. The ones I can’t hit I swipe at. My swipe is excellent.

Only five left now, but they have me cornered. They’re all around me firing their weapons directly into me.

The UMP45 shoots our .45 caliber pistol bullet, well known for its knock down power. I feel them hit me but it doesn’t seem to do anything.

It’s time. I rear up on my hind legs to my full nine foot height and bellow. Damn, that’s loud. It shakes them up. I tear out of there at full speed. I make it to the edge of the forest and see Honoria. She’s white with fear. I change back to human and look down at myself. I’m covered with very faint, round scars. I’ve healed so fast that the bullet wounds have already scarred over.

Honoria studies me. Her eyes go from scar to scar. I turn around so she can see the back. By the time I turn back, her face has lost its panicky expression and a new one has taken its place. She’s never seen my body in the light and standing still. I watch her eyes.

This is the way women must feel when a man looks them over. She looks at all the right spots. Her eyes move across my shoulders and my chest and belly. I have to admit a little pride when they pause at my crotch. She checks out my legs then comes back up.

She touches the same places she looked. I watch her lips move. She names the body parts she’s touching. After a few seconds, she stops narrating to herself. Her mouth relaxes. Her blue eyes dilate. Her chest heaves as if she can’t breathe very well, and her skin is slightly flushed. She swallows three times.

I like this.

When she’s finished, the old Honoria comes storming back. She says, “Good. You’re still alive. Did you finish your mission?” Her voice is cold and detached. She was worried that one of her tools had gotten damaged. It wasn’t so she put it away until she needed it again.

“Yes. I connected a personal computer to our network back at base.”

“Excellent. I’ll wait for you in the car.”

She doesn’t talk as we drive, but maybe this time it’s because I’ve impressed her.

The secretary tells us that the Major wants to talk with us in an hour. I go to the new housing I’ve been given, and wait. I don’t mourn Carol any more.

An hour later, we’re inside the CO’s office. He looks guilty. I don’t like that. Men like him send men like me on missions that get us killed and don’t show any more guilt than when they’ve parked in a handicapped space. He says, “I’m sorry.”

I really don’t like that. He gives me the strangest order I’ve ever gotten. He says, “Smell Honoria’s neck.”

I look at her. She tilts her head to the side. A slight smile plays around on her lips. I bend over and sniff. Her scent overwhelms me. I smell again then put my hands on the sides of her chest and lift her up to my face as if she’s a bouquet of flowers. She doesn’t resist or fight back. In fact, she seems to melt a little. I take in a lungful of her scent. It’s better than anything I’ve ever smelled.

I drop her, and she steps back. I must look like a man undergoing a religious experience.

The Major says, “That’s the ‘urge’. Bears get it several times a year. You’ll stay human but your bear side will govern you. You’ll have to mate several times over the next twenty four hours. You don’t have a choice, and you won’t be able to think of anything else. You’ll do it with Honoria.” He holds up his hands in a stopping gesture although neither of us objected. “I’ve checked our personnel records. There isn’t anyone else. All of the women stationed here are either married or offbase. So you’ll have to mate with each other.”

That brings me back into the real world. I look at her. She doesn’t seem too put out. That’s not what I expected. I thought she’d be filling the office with curses.

The Major says, “Both of you go to Craig’s apartment and stay there until it’s over with.”

I’m completely flummoxed. The CO has given Honoria an order which should send her into complete hysterics. But instead she’s walking resolutely toward my apartment.

I reach out and grab her arm and pull her back. I say, “Walk beside me. Not in front.”

She nods then loops her arm in mine. The sanity train has officially left the station. I’ll have to ask her later what happened.

Inside my quarters, we stand apart from each other and circle the room. We’re both wary. She’s about to be in close, physical contact with a being that can rip her apart and might even be out of control. I’m completely confused. Everything has changed so much in the last twenty-four hours that I can’t process it all.

But then a faint reddish film comes over my vision, and my mind clears of everything but mating. The need to mate. I spread my arms and turn my head to the ceiling and bellow. Now I understand.

Honoria is stripping very quickly. I’m not stripping. I’m ripping. In fifteen seconds, we’re both naked. She looks very good naked. She walks toward me with her arms out and a smile on her face. It’s a real smile. How about that.

I pick her up and slam her against the wall then lunge into her, pinning her. Her toes are a foot in the air. She grunts and grimaces. I can hear a vague voice that sounds like me say, “Are you alright?”

She says, “Yes. Go ahead. Take me.”

I’d like to be gentle, but gentle isn’t in my list of ways to touch a woman right now. I spread her legs with mine and keep her in the air with my body, freeing my hands.

I rub her neck and shoulders, not the kind, tender way a man usually caresses a woman, but forcefully. My hands bring out a blush on her skin. She seems to enjoy it. She twists and grunts; but she’s not trying to get away, she wants me to deal with another part of her skin that needs attention. I do her neck and shoulders until her skin is red. She plasters her hands against the wall. Her mouth is open and her face empty. She’s living in some other part of her body.

I lift her higher on the wall until her breasts are in front of my face. I really like them. I put one of her nipples in my mouth and suck hard and open my mouth wide and suck her entire breast inside. I bite her, increasing the force until she groans then I let go a little and let a little of her breast slip out. I do it again and again, leaving a series of bite marks down her breast.

I take her nipple in my mouth again. This time, I suck and bite gently. I’m glad I can control myself enough that I don’t hurt her. When I was mauling her with my hands and biting her with my teeth, she gave little grunts and groans. Now, I’m tenderly dealing with her nipples, and she’s groaning continuously like a house shifting in an earthquake.

I slip one hand between her legs and take her pussy in my hand. I stroke her like a cat, a very big, sturdy cat that can stand a lot of force when it’s rubbed. When I feel heat coming from between her legs, I put one finger inside her.

She lifts her head up to the ceiling and cries, “Oh, my God!” I’m going to assume that’s a good sign.

I stay with what I’m doing for a long time.

Ladies, you already know this. Men, listen up. When you’re touching the woman you love and you do something that really affects her, keep doing it without change. She’ll tell you when you need to move on.
