“Well, let us
begin by asking Farrah about whether or not she was caught
trespassing at the Tooth Fairy Training Grounds. Yes, the
restricted area, meant only for Tooth Fairies. I guess Farrah
doesn’t care about rules as she blatantly entered the Training
Grounds for her own pleasure.”

This resounded
more shocked oohs from the crowd. Samantha, however, did not wait
for them to quite down. It was clear to Farrah that Samantha wasn’t
going to hold back. Even worse was the fact that Samantha was
relishing every second of it.

“While at the
Training Grounds, Farrah took it upon herself to steal a Veddo.
Yes, you heard me; Farrah took one of the most sacred tools used by
a Tooth Fairy.”

This time the
crowd was silenced, it was as if they could not believe what they
had just heard. Samantha knew that she had them in the palm of her
hand and went in for the kill. This time she stared directly at the
King.

“My friends, I
am sorry to tell you that it gets much, much, worse.”

Samantha
leaned into the speaking horn a little closer to make sure that her
words were clearly heard.

“Farrah
Fancycracker broke into the Miracolo Cave and stole Tooth Fairy
dust.”

The crowd
became outraged. It wasn’t long until they starting hurling their
shoes at the stage in disgust. The King and Queen got up from their
chairs simultaneously and floated swiftly onto stage. The Queen
raised her hand asking the crowd to quiet down, which they did
instantly. She called for Farrah to come forward. Farrah obliged
hesitantly as she feared the repercussions that would be handed
down.

As Farrah
slowly approached the Queen, she felt comfort for a brief second.
The Queen’s weathered yet beautiful face did not emit an ounce of
menace. Farrah stood before the Queen with her hands held behind
her back out of nervousness. Softly, the Queen spoke in a
whisper.

“Farrah, is it
true, what Samantha has told us today? Did you steal a Veddo? Did
you break into the Miracolo cave and did you steal Tooth Fairy
dust?”

“Of course she
did!” shouted Samantha who remained on the stage just behind
Farrah. It was obvious that she was offended by the Queen’s
comments.

“Samantha,
please allow Miss Fancycracker to respond,” requested the
Queen.

Without a
word, Samantha jumped off the stage and headed back to her seat in
the crowd. All eyes were on Farrah now. She was slouched over,
wishing that the whole thing were just a dream. Having delayed her
response long enough, Farrah felt it prudent to be quick and blunt.
She sucked in some air and spoke into the horn.

“Yes!” She
said, before she hung her head in shame.

The crowd
became restless again. They were about to throw their shoes when
they were distracted by the Queen’s actions. Unexpectedly, the
Queen gently placed a finger under Farrah’s chin to raise it
up.

“Young Fairy,
don’t you dare hang your head in shame - we should all be saluting
you. You were able to do what no other Fairy in Fairyland has been
able to do.”

Farrah tilted
her head. She was perplexed by the Queen’s comment. The Queen’s
expression turned to one of envy as she smiled at Farrah. A clap
was heard from the Ordinaria section. Giuseppi’s father had risen
to his feet to give Farrah a standing ovation. Within moments, the
entire Ordinaria section had risen to their feet offering a
thunderous applause in salute to Farrah. The Queen leaned in to
Farrah to whisper into her ear.

“My dear,
Farrah, how is it that a young ordin…fairy girl like yourself was
able to make it into the most well-guarded place in all of
Fairyland?”

Before Farrah
could respond, the King had stepped between them. His expression
was much more threatening than that of the Queen.

“Guards seize
her!” He shouted as the Securo Fairies moved ghostlike onto the
stage toward Farrah. Before she had a chance to run, one of the
Securo Fairies had sprinkled some dust onto her head. A cage of
fire entrapped Farrah at centre stage, much to the discontent of
the Queen.

“What are you
doing?” asked the Queen angrily.

“Can’t you see
that she is a Tuttatti Fairy?”

The King
stared blankly at Farrah who remained entrapped in the cage of
fire, as if he did not hear his wife’s words.

“She found the
Star of Fantaseea.”

“Nonsense!”
responded the King.

“There is no
way that that is the real star.” Not allowing the Queen to get in
another word, the King marched deliberately to the podium.

“Fairies of
Fairyland, you have standing before you a criminal. She has
admitted to not only breaking and entering, but also to theft. I
promise you that she will be dealt with like any other criminal in
Fairyland.”

The King
looked over at Farrah who was trying hard to stay in the centre of
the cage, not wanting to be seared by the fiery bars.

“Guards, take
her to Grazi Prison.”

That was met
by shouts of horror by the Ordinaria section as the Securo Fairies
used their power to lift the cage along with Farrah off the ground.
With the entrapped Farrah floating in front of them, the Securo
Fairies departed the stage.

Farrah peered
over her shoulder at her mom. She had gotten out of her seat and
was shouting out in horror.

“My baby – you
can’t do this!”

Chapter 28: Slam!

Slam! The iron
bars of the cell door thudded shut. Although Farrah felt like
crying, she was far too stunned. Just moments earlier, she was
being heralded as the most magnificent fairy in all of Fairyland.
Now she found herself in a cold, sterile, jail cell, locked away
from her friends and family.

The cell was
absolutely ghastly. There was a toilet, which was oddly shaped like
a heart and a ceramic sink, which was also in the shape of a heart.
There was a cot with no sheets, stained by something that Farrah
could only guess was the blood of an injured fairy. As Farrah sat
on the floor with her back up against the white-bricked wall, she
began to sob. A Scurri, a rat like creature with five tails and two
noses, which was feeding on something crunchy, startled Farrah and
she leapt up to her feet. She reached into her pocket, forgetting
that they had confiscated the Star of Fantaseea, as well as her
Pixie dust and all of her personal possessions for that matter.

My
Fairies, what am I going to do?”

Thankfully,
the Scurri scurried through the bars and under the desk of a large
Ogre Fairy that had been instructed to guard the prisoner. Farrah
found it momentarily funny to hear the large Ogre shrieking like a
little girl. Her brief laughter quickly turned to sadness when she
reminded herself of the dreadful dilemma that she was in.

Having watched
the Ogre Fairy jump on his desk to get away from the creature,
Farrah’s eyes fell on another Securo guard in front of the barred
door of Farrah’s cell. Like all of the cells in the Grazi prison,
there was a Securo Fairy guarding the entrance to each cell that
was occupied. This particular Securo Fairy guarding Farrah’s cell
was massive. Apparently, the King didn’t want to take any
chances.

The massive
Securo stood still, but on guard, ready for anything. This made it
virtually impossible for any prisoner to escape, that and the fact
that each cell had been enchanted. If any Fairy attempted to leave
their cell, the door would collapse down. Like a mousetrap, it
would crush the prisoner’s body to the floor.

Without the
Star of Fantaseea, Farrah would not dare attempt and escape.
Instead, she took off the spring jacket that she was wearing and
laid it on the cot to cover up the stain. Lying on the cot with her
knees tucked into her chest, Farrah attempted to fall asleep. She
prayed that when she woke up she would discover that it was all a
dream.

The next day
Farrah was wakened by the sound of shouting. From out of a tiny
window, which looked more like a hole that had been punched out of
the side of the wall, Farrah could see a large mob of Fairies. The
angry group walked determinedly toward the front of the Grazi
Prison. They were shouting in unison. At first, Farrah couldn’t
make out what they were saying, but as they moved closer, it became
clear.

He He Ho
Ho! We won’t go, so let Farrah go!”

He He Ho
Ho! We won’t go, so let Farrah Go!”

Farrah sat
back on the cot, taken aback by the site. By noon, almost all of
Fairyland, both Ordinaria and Superiora alike, had come to Grazi
prison to protest Farrah’s capture. The whole time they continued
to shout. It became loud, but instead of becoming annoyed, the rest
of the prisoners decided to join in on the chanting. Unexpectedly,
the door to the outside lobby of the prison swung open. The King
marched in, followed by four Securo Fairies who followed behind him
like his shadow.

The King held
a tiny piece of paper in his hand. Using his Pixie dust, he
dissolved the door to Farrah’s cell. Still reluctant to move,
Farrah stood pat.

The King
floated into the cell and took a seat beside Farrah on the cot.

“It is madness
out there. If you don’t do something there will be a full out
riot,” said the King sounding nervous.

What do
you want
me
to do?”
Responded Farrah smugly as she was not amused.

“I want you to
step outside for a moment and read this.”

The King
handed Farrah the piece of paper. She read over the first two lines
and threw it to the ground.

“There is no
way I’m reading that!” She shouted in resentment.

The King
remained calm with his voice matching his feeling.

“Farrah, if
you don’t, someone could get hurt. You may not have realized it,
but your parents are out there. If this continues, my Securo
Fairies will have to engage. Your parents’ safety could be in
jeopardy.”

Although it
was killing Farrah to admit it, she knew the King was right. Not
giving it another thought, she picked the note up from the ground
and stood up.

“Okay, let’s
get this thing over with.”

Farrah was
escorted out of her cell and to the front entrance of the prison.
As the front door opened, the crowd stopped their chanting and
began hooting, hollering and clapping as they thought that Farrah
had been released. Farrah’s mom and dad, however, could tell by the
expression on Farrah’s face, that the news wasn’t good.

One of the
Securo Fairies handed Farrah a large horn. Her hands and voice
shook as she began to read.

“Fairies of
Fairyland. I want to thank you all for coming here today to show
your support. I am truly touched. However, I am here to tell all of
you to please go home.”

Unpleased by
Farrah’s words, the crowd started up again, this time booing
loudly.

“Fairies
please,” continued Farrah, raising her hand up, requesting their
silence.

“The truth is
that I deserve to be locked up in prison. I did commit the crimes
that I am accused of. For this is am forever regretful.”

“She’s been
brainwashed,” shouted an indistinguishable fairy from the crowd.
This resulted in another series of boos.

“Fairies, if
you don’t go home, the Securo Fairies will have to use force. You
will all be in danger.”

Now restless,
the crowd’s boos turned to shouts. A few fairies decided to heave
their shoes at the Securo Fairies who stood in a line at both sides
of Farrah. With a sprinkle of dust into his hand, the Securo to
Farrah’s left formed a fiery orb. His hand was cocked, ready to
launch the orb at the King’s request.

Instead, the
King took the horn from Farrah as he attempted to settle down the
crowd.

“Fairies of
Fairyland.” Shouted the King’s voice over the shouts and boos of
the crowd.

“Farrah has
admitted to her crime. She knows that justice in Fairyland is
crucial. The essence of Fairyland will be lost if we allow
criminals to fly freely among us.”

These words
were not heard by the mob. The angered voices were so loud that the
speaking horn was rendered useless. Having to make a decision with
the Securo Fairies awaiting his instruction, the King gave them a
nod. As if in slow motion, the fiery orb was thrust toward the
crowd.

Farrah
screamed out.

“No!”

It was too
late. One by one, the Securo Fairies pelted the crowd with fiery
orbs. This dispersed the crowd as they ran chaotically in all
directions. Not wanting to get hurt, the group of fairies attempted
to make a quick exit off the premises. Unfortunately, more than a
few fairies were not as lucky. Blood poured out of their noses, as
they lay wounded on the ground.

“You’re a
monster!” shouted Farrah at the King.

King Comoradi
rushed Farrah in anger, his finger pointed at her nose.

“Oh, I’m the
monster? If you had just stayed home yesterday and had not decided
to make a mockery of our sacred talent contest, none of this would
have happened.”

Farrah was
distracted before she had a chance to respond. The Securo Fairies
that had been tending to the wounded were now running frantically
back into the prison.

“It’s the
Cornuto creatures! They’re here!” shouted the last Securo Fairy,
pausing for a moment to face the stunned King.

Chapter 29: Attack!

Farrah took
shelter in the prison. She, along with the King and two Securo
Fairies, had run into the head office. The thick metal door closed
with an echoing thud behind them. For protection, the two Securo
Fairies enchanted the door with their dust, electrifying it.

Although the
walls of the head office were double the thickness of the other
rooms, the horrendous sounds from outside echoed relentlessly.
Farrah covered her ears to block out the bomb-like sounds that were
reminiscent of the brutal video games that human children often
play.
