I had done Forbidden Broadway briefly as a fill-in, and then in 1986 I went into the
show for about a year and a half. I auditioned with a piece I had written about Barbra
Streisand doing a musical version of Out of Africa, and Gerard subsequently wrote
the Barbra "Somewhere" parody for me: "There's a show for me, someday a show for
me..."
