“Right, so give it to me then. You didn’t cave and open it yourself, did you, Rox?” Jemma queries me while pointing her finger at me. She knows me too well.

“No, I didn’t cave though I thought about it more than I’d like to admit. What do you think he wrote, Jem?” I look at her with a worried expression.

“Only one way to find out,” she tells me as she reaches for the envelope and tears it open.

As she unfolds the paper her eyes become glued to the letter, her expression gives nothing away,
goddammit.

“Spill it, what does it say?” I state boldly as I need to know whether it’s a scary stalker letter or the ‘I hope you can forgive and forget’ type.

“Okay
,
Roxy, so the short version is that he is sorry, wants you to know he is paying for his sins, and seeking help for his illness. My version of this letter is that psycho Dylan is trying for an early release on good behaviour, and he is lying through his fucking teeth. He has an illness all right, it’s called schizophrenia, and this bullshit letter is all for show. Don’t buy it, Rox, just pretend that you never got it,” Jemma adds her harsh opinion, and I agree with what she is saying.

“Fucking hallelujah about him getting help,” I state a little relieved about that fact.

“He sure as hell needs it!” I giggle to Jem, at least I know he is safely locked up and can’t come find me. That would scare the bejesus out of me.

You sure know how to pick them, Rox,
I say to myself

In the words of Taylor Swift
,
I am going to ‘Shake it off, shake it off.’

My past that included Dylan is now dead and buried six feet under, covered in dirt, bugs, and lots of other heavy and gross items that will keep it hidden.

The memories of Dylan and the kidnapping and the fire still give me chills like a horror movie. So, what’s in the past will stay that way.

Shaking it off and moving onwards and upwards, reaching for the stars with Kade.

He is my soul mate, my baby, my hero, my knight in shining armour, and my very own Superman rolled into one sexy beast.

I don’t know how I could have gotten through these last few months without him as my saviour and protector. He rescued me in a million different ways.

When a life-threatening event occurs, it definitely puts everything back into perspective.

Kind of like Edward in
Twilight
when he leaves Bella thinking it’s best for her.

Kade did that for me.

It hurt like hell but knowing he was trying to protect me in the long run shows me how deep his love for me really goes.

Then my mind wonders to sexy Jacob and his muscles in
New Moon,
he must have worked out hourly to get that body.

Note to self, girls’ night watching
The Twilight Saga
very soon.

eing the honest girlfriend that I am, I reluctantly decide to tell Kade about the letter from Dylan.
I knew he would be pissed that he wrote to me.

“Who the fuck does he think he is? After what he did to you, he shouldn’t be allowed to make contact with you at all,” he states angrily at the justice system.

“I agree, baby, but I guess in their eyes it’s part of his therapy,” I reply trying to calm him and justify a reason for the letter.

“I just wanted to be honest and upfront about it, that’s why I told you, Kade,” I add to show him that I don’t want there to be any secrets in our relationship.

“Thanks, baby, I am glad you told me, and even more so that Jemma opened the letter and not you,” he confesses and pulls me in for a loving hug.

“How about we head up to the lakehouse Friday after work and get away from reality for a while?” Kade asks me obviously trying to erase the whole letter conversation.

“Sounds perfect to me,” I reply and pull him in tighter and flush to my body. I am relieved that I told him the truth; secrets do nothing but destroy.

Look at Kade’s mother and father and how their lies and secrets tore them apart.
Oh and infidelity, of course.

Friday can’t come fast enough. We crave a weekend of peace and serenity.

I packed a few necessities Thursday night so we could just change clothes and jump in the car after work, and that’s what we do after I change into a cute pink summer dress and my Hav
a
iana beach thongs.
Summer is the best season for sure.

We eagerly drive up to the lake house. The traffic isn’t too bad and we have Nickelback blaring between our chatting.

The line from Matchbox Twenty’s song “Real Word” is what pops into my mind ‘I wish the real world would just stop hassling me.’ It’s perfect for the last week; why can’t we stay in our perfect little bubble where it’s just Kade and me in love, having fun, and not a care in the world?

It’s a gorgeous summer’s night with the sun is just setting as we arrive, our windows are down and the breeze is blowing cool and refreshing across my skin.

“Go and get your bikini on, Rox. It’s a perfect night for a swim unless you want to skinny dip?” Kade says, smirking. I contemplate it for a minute, but then decide on being the mature one in the relationship.

I quickly change into my black bikini in record time and Kade into his Mambo board shorts. We walk hand in hand the few hundred metres to the lake, where we place our towels on the embankment.

Desperate to release the worry of the world, I splash my way out into the soothing lake. The water is beautiful and still warm from the sun. I walk out until its waist deep and hear Kade splashing behind me so I turn to embrace my sexy half-naked surfer.

Kade being Kade, picks me up and wraps my legs around him as he kisses me sweetly. He jumps under the fresh water with me still wrapped around his waist, catching me by surprise.

The water is invigorating as it hits my face and washes away my troubles.

It is only waist deep so we stay sitting on the bottom of the lake with my legs still wrapped around him, embracing each other and relaxing, the last rays of the sun on our cheeks, the slight breeze against my skin as it hits the drops of water left behind.

“This is pure heaven, baby. Why can’t we live up here and do this all day every day?” I state as he pulls me in closer for a wet, salty kiss.
I love that kind the best
.

“If we win the lottery, I will keep you hostage up here. There will be no working, just swimming, sex, eating, and maybe beer.”

“I’m buying a ticket, Mr. Thomas. Those activities sound like the ultimate way to spend the rest of my life,” I reply. His smile widens and he kisses me again with what feels like all of the love in his heart.

T
he next morning, I’m in a deep sleep, and totally looking forward to no alarm to wake me up, when I feel Kade trying to lift me gently out of the bed.

“What are you doing, Kade? Why are you trying to drag me out of bed when it’s still dark?” “I’m about to go crazy ninja on you, let me sleep,” I tell him feeling pissed off that he is waking me, but also intrigued as to why since it’s not something he does regularly unless it’s for sex.

“Baby, it will be worth it I promise. Just trust me,” his deep husky voice tells me. Damn, it’s sexy as hell.

“Well, it better be worth it, this princess needs her beauty sleep,” I remark to him sarcastically. Sometimes I wonder if it is my second language.

Kade sweeps me up into his arms and I nuzzle into his neck. It’s rewarding and worth it already, but I’m not admitting it just yet.

“Let’s stay in bed and you can show me another way you are worthy, baby,” I whisper as he carries me through the back deck and through the lake’s entrance.

“You will get that, too, if you are patient, Miss Thorne,” he replies back with a fantastic response that has me grinning widely.

Kade sweetly carries me down to the sandy bank of the lake and lays me down on a picnic blanket he had obviously prepared earlier.

I am speechless as I get a glimpse of the beautiful and amazing sky in front of me.

The sun is rising through the clouds and colours of burnt orange, crimson red and canary yellow fill the sky as it slowly gets higher and higher in the sky.

Kade lies behind me and embraces me tightly as we both stare at the sight unfolding before us on this gorgeous Saturday morning.

“Wow, Kade this is magnificent. Truly an amazing beauty,” I tell him in awe of the picture perfect moment and really of his idea of bring me out here to watch it together.

“It sure is a beautiful and mesmerising sight,” Kade states. I feel his chocolate brown eyes on me and turn around to find him staring at me intensely. He obviously isn’t talking about the sunrise. I can’t help but smile at him with adoration.

“Your beauty is much more radiant than any sunrise Roxy. To me, you are the ultimate when it comes to wonders of the world.” I can’t help but shed a tear at the beautiful words he just confessed.

Right now in this magical, enchanting moment, Kade has written his name on my heart and I swear it will stay etched there forever.

“Wow, you are outdoing yourself today baby, first this beautiful sunrise and now that sensational declaration. I love you so much Kade,” I tell him and lean back to kiss him with all of the love I feel right at this moment.

I’m not sure how much time passes, but we lay that way just embracing and kissing lovingly.

Eventually, Kade pulls back and stands scooping me up as he carries me back up to the house and lays me on the lounge before he takes off his shirt. I can’t help but stare at the second beautiful sight I’ve seen this morning.

“Kade, do you know how damn perfect your body is? Tanned and toned to perfection, rock hard abs, and these muscles in your arms... I could orgasm from these alone baby,”

I tell him as I rub my hands over every inch of his amazing body.

We take our time making love slowly and tenderly for hours; showing each other just how deep our love runs.
Pure bliss.

A
fter getting a couple more hours of sleep, we enjoy fluffy, delicious pancakes that Kade cooks to perfection with maple syrup and whipped cream. He even brought strawberries that perfectly complement the flavours.

Feeling satisfied and full, we quickly shower and pack for a day trip on the boat, not wanting to miss out on the beautiful blue sky and sunshine.

Kade’s phone starts to vibrate and ring as we get ready to leave. We are eagerly awaiting the news of Pete and Emma’s bundle of joy arriving, so I stop what I’m doing and pick up the phone and hand it to Kade. Feeling excited to see if it is Pete calling with the good news I look questioningly at Kade. He looks at me smiling and gives a nod confirming it is Pete’s number.

Putting the phone on speaker Kade answers the phone. “Hey Pete, are you a daddy yet, big boy?” he asks his best mate the million dollar question.

“Kade, my daughter is here. I’m a father, dude! Can you friggin’ believe it?” Pete literally screams with joy into the handset.

“Well done, Daddy Pete. Congrats, man. You and Emma will be awesome parents,” Kade says back to him, and I can tell by his tone and smile he is feeling happy and thrilled for them. This is the next step in their lives and they deserve happiness.
