My eyes filled with tears. I hated him.

I got up and ran outside toward the pool house. He
wasn’t
going to keep me from checking on Chance. I didn’t care if I lived out of my car.

When I got closer to the pool house I could hear them yelling.

“I don’t have a choice Buffy.” Chance said.

“You could have said no. Do you have any idea w
hat this is going to do to her?” Buffy asked.

“Of course I do, don’t you think this is killing me? I don’t know what else to do. I am kind of stuck. I have no other options.” He exclaimed.

My heart started beating faster. I knew something was wrong. I rushed into the pool house and stood there waiting for an explanation.

“Maybe I should leave you two alone.” Buffy suggested.

I shook my head. “No please stay.” I said.

Chance pulled me over and sat me down on the chair. “Hope.” He said and then started to get choked up. “I have to leave.”

This couldn’t be happening.

Chance

That son of a bitch didn’t believe me last night and then w
h
e
n he
saw me protecting his daughter he couldn’t take it. He must have made some calls last night or early this morning because I was on the next flight to South Carolina to work on the construction of a hotel. He didn’t give me an option. He said
it
was an opportunity I need
ed
to take and that he had done a lot to get me the position. I did not thank him.  I wanted to hurt him. He was such a fucking coward.

Now I had to leave Hope when she needed me the most. It broke my heart and it killed me more that I had to be the one to tell her. She was never going to understand.

“What do you mean you have to leave? Where are you going? When will you be home?” She asked.

My eyes filled with tears and I didn’t want to feel like a pussy, but this was hard. “Your father got me a job working on a construction site in South Carolina. It lasts for a few months and then he said I can come back.”

“No! No way! This can’t be happening. Why would you agree to it? Please Chance, you can’t just leave me here.” Hope was clinging to my arms, her words were hard to make out because she was crying so badly.

“Hope, I don’t have a choice. I haven’t had much time to think about this, but I think he wants me to be out of the picture until this deal is finalized.” I explained.

“Does either of you see how convoluted this is?” Hope screamed.

I tried to grab her, but she pulled away. “Hope please just listen to me.” She wouldn’t look at me. Instead she buried her face into her hands. “Nothing between us has to change baby. We can talk every day and I will find a way to come home on the weekends.”

Buffy put her hands on Hope

s shoulders and started rubbing her back. “In the meantime I can keep talking to your dad. We will get Chance home as fast as we can.” She said.

“No! This can’t be happening. He saved me. He saved me last night and this is what happens? I don’t understand.” Hope cried.

I knelt down in front of her. “Hope look at me.”

She finally looked up past her tear filled eyes. “There is nothing you can say to make this better Chance. My father has done nothing but hurt me and now he is taking the person that I love the most away from me.”

“I know baby. Please just calm down. I know that things seem horrible right now, but we are still going to see each other. I will call you every day. The months will fly by and then I will be home.” I explained.

My heart was breaking even more seeing her reaction to all of this. I wanted to walk in that house and punch that bastard in his face. His daughter needed support, but instead he was torturing her, and he didn’t even realize how much.

“I am going to head into the house. Hope
,
don’t be too long okay.” Buffy said as she walked outside.

The shades were down in the pool house windows, so that Hope’s father couldn’t see in if he were outside. “Hope I love you. I promise you that we are going to get through this. I promise you baby.”

She fell into my arms and I let her cry. I could feel the tears running down my cheeks, but I held her tight and tried to think positive, even though I knew we had just hit yet another hurdle.

Chapter 32

Hope

When Chance told me he had to leave I felt like my whole world was crashing down on me. Buffy and I drove him to the airport and we both cried as he boarded his plane.  He called us once he had made it there safely and later that night before he went to sleep.

I refused to speak to my father, even at meals
when he sat at the same table with
us. Buffy finally gave in and started talking to him after holding out for a week. He seemed remorseful, but my heart was shattered.

Chance called me at least twice a day. He called me to wake me up in the mornings and then to tell me goodnight. Although, sometimes our nighttime talks would last for
hours. One good thing about him
being away was that we got to talk a lot more than around the house. We didn’t really have to hide. Since I spent most of my time in my room, my father never even knew.

Buffy called Chance every few days, always making it a habit to bring it up at dinner time when my father was around. She talked about how much he hated it, and wished he could be here where his only family was.

Obviously
,
the news of Chances being homesick did not faze him in the least. He played golf with Mr. Greg Thomas at least once a week. They shot the shit at least once every morning
,
and I even heard him mentioning Trevor and Michael in a positive conversation.

Chances boss was not as lenient with him leaving to visit us on the weekends. After three weeks he still hadn’t been home at all. I missed him terribly.

My mother finally moved into her new place. There was one whole week when I wanted to just move back home with her, but
once I saw the size,
I knew why she hadn’t asked me in the first place. It was tiny and only had one bedroom.

Her boyfriend Noah was a great guy. He had a outstanding sense of humor and seemed to be madly in love with her. I could tell immediately why she was so crazy about him. He made me promise that once a week I would come over to his place and have dinner with he and my mother. She was thrilled that he asked and I kept to my promise.

One night while on the phone
,
Chance told me about what Trevor said he and Rylee did. I had been going on and on about her being such a trustworthy friend and he said he had to tell me. I got angry about it, and then finally called her.

At
first
she denied it, but soon after
,
she called me crying saying that it happened a couple times when they were drinking. As angry as I was with her, I didn’t really care. I hated Trevor, now more than ever before.

I was so happy with mine and Chances relationship that I just let it go.

Some days, I would spend all of my time in the pool house. I told my father I went in there to study, but I never really studied.

Chance convinced me to enroll in co
mmunity college, so when Septem
ber came around I headed to college. I was enrolled in three classes and they kept me busy enough to where I wasn’t dwelling in depression.

After two long months Chance got three days off to come and visit. Buffy never mentioned it
to
my father, but he was rarely
home anyway. Some new strip mall was taking up all of his time. Buffy said she would tell my dad I was staying at a friend’s house so that Chance and I could have the night together.

I drove all the way to the airport myself to pick him up. I was so excited that I missed my exit twice and when I finally pulled up to get him I locked my keys in the car, with it running.  While a nice officer
got my car opened
,
I spotted Chance walking towards me. I ran as fast as I could and jumped into his arms. He swung me around as I squeezed him tight.

Chance

Hope had no idea how much I missed her. I couldn’t believe she was finally here in my arms. I tried to get home to see her every week, but my boss was a real prick. Apparently the hotel we were building had a deadline and if we finished it ahead of schedule they got a bonus. The crew had to work on weekends and one guy got one weekend off at a time. Since I was the newest on the crew, I was the last person to get a weekend.

Being away from Hope had been so hard on me, but I tried to keep myself busy. I impressed the bosses by working overtime almost every night. Little did they know it was because I didn’t want to sit in my motel room and miss being with Hope anymore than I already did. I would work late enough to where I could go home and call her
,
and then crash for the night. I felt like a robot, by falling into the same daily routine for two months.

Having Hope back in my arms felt like heaven. “God Hope, I missed you so much baby.”

She pulled away and pressed her lips against mine. When she pulled away she hugged me again. “I missed you too
.”

I looked around and noticed she was alone. “Where is Buffy?”

“She said she wanted to give us the night together. We have a room for the night about a mile from here. Nobody knows.” Hope explained.

I couldn’t help but smile. “Really?”

Hope nodded and bit her lip.

“What are we waiting for then?” I said as I picked her up and carried her to her car. I was surprised when an officer gave Hope her keys.

“I locked them in the car.” She explained while getting into the passenger side.

I climbed in the
driver’s
side and we made it to the hotel in less than five minutes. Apparently
,
Buffy had paid cash for a room and reserved it under my name. I held Hope’s hand while we got our key card and headed up to our room.  When we got into the elevator I couldn’t control myself. I pulled Hope into my arms and kissed her bottom lip. My tongue slid over it and then made its way into her mouth. When her t
ongue brushed against mine
,
I bec
a
me
instantly aroused. It had been too long.

The sound of the elevator opening made us break out of our
lip lock
. An old woman with a walker waited for us to exit. She was shaking her head and giving us dirty looks.
We laughed as we walked past her. Hope and I made it into the hallway and finally located our room. Once the key card slide into the key slot the green light lit and we flung the door open. Our bags dropped at the door and we made it to the bed without even noticing what the room looked like.

Hope’s hands grabbed my shirt and ripped it over my head. Her lips were pressed against mine again. I pulled away. “Don’t you want to slow down?” I asked between kisses.

“No!” She stated as she started kissing me on my chest. I had been standing, but she pulled me down on the bed next to her and started unbuttoning my jeans. “Please don’t slow down Chance. I have waited two months to touch you.”

Her shirt had buttons, but it didn’t once I was finished ripping it open, revealing her see through white bra. It hooked in the front and I didn’t waste time freeing her beautiful breasts. While she finished removing her shirt off of her arms, I cupped both of her breasts
and
squeezed
them with both of my hands. “I missed these.” I whispered.

Hope bit her lip and started slipping off her pants. They were some stretch kind of fabric and took no time to disappear from her legs. Fortunate for me, her panties came down with the pants.  Hope lay naked on the bed beneath me and I couldn’t help but take in her beauty. After all of this time she was still as beautiful as I remembered.
I stood up off the bed to finish removing my pants, but I never took my eyes off of Hopes. When I climbed back down on top of her
, I
i
mmediately
found her lips. If I could kiss her all night I would have been happy. Her
s
oft lips played with mine as her
tongue slid into my mouth. Our kisses deepened and our teeth kept hitting as it intensified. My hand cupped one of her breasts and I used my finger to squeeze her nipple before taking it into my mouth. Hopes body flexed and she let out a moan.

Her legs
intertwined
with mine and she used her strength to flip herself on top of me.  She sat straight up and I couldn’t help but admire her perfect breasts.
Hope took her hand and ran it over my face,
slowly moving it across my lips so that I could kiss them as they continued moving down.  They made their way down my neck and then to my chest. When she reached my navel she slid her hands back up against my chest. “I think your muscles are bigger.” She said as she leaned down and kissed my chest. Her hips were moving back and forth against me and I knew she could feel how ready I was.
