Lindsey forced a smile and relaxed her body in Lord Shade’s arms. This made him loosen his grip slightly.
“Can you make the labyrinth again?” Lindsey asked him innocently.
“Oh my dear one, do you really think you can fool me?” Lord Shade cackled.
His grip became lose enough for Lindsey to slip out and she soon put some distance between them, making sure she edged closer to the mirrors.
Lord Shade stepped forward, taking a step towards her each time she stepped away. His eyes burned into hers.
“You couldn’t get through a red door Lindsey because I own your soul,” Lord Shade went onto explain. “So even if I made the labyrinth you would be trapped here still, because I own you completely.”
Lindsey paused. She knew then that the risk she was about to take was even greater. If the mirror even was a door in disguise, she may not be able to even get through it.
“Lindsey,” Lord Shade said in a low voice. “Stop there.”
Lindsey slowly moved her hands behind her back and tried her best to keep Lord Shade’s gaze upon her face by smiling brightly.
“Come to bed with me, my dearest love,” Lord Shade coaxed.
Lindsey’s hands were moving secretly behind her back.
“To bed?” She asked.
“Yes,” Lord Shade replied. “I want you.”
Lindsey could feel her cheeks flushing red as he eyed her with a desire Lindsey had only seen once in Kyle. But this time she could feel it slowly consuming her, drawing her in, and this time she feared she may not be able to fight back.
“I’ve never experienced the joys of the flesh,” Lord Shade admitted. He took another step forward.
Lindsey backed up against the mirror and pressed her hands against it, feeling around for an opening or a handle.
“But being a demon, my expertise is the pleasure of sin,” Lord Shade said feverishly.
He reached out for Lindsey, ready to scoop her into his arms, but then he stopped. All of a sudden the heat disappeared from the air and it was cold. Lord Shade’s face paled and his smile faded away.
“Lindsey,” he sighed. “What are you doing?”
Lindsey slid her fingers into a small crack in the glass and behind it she could feel wood brush against her fingertips.
“You can’t escape Lindsey,” Lord Shade smirked. “It’s pointless.”
Lindsey opened up the mirror, revealing the red door below.
“Clever girl,” Lord Shade grinned proudly.
Lindsey opened the red door and was faced with darkness. She stared into it, trying to make out something, anything.
“Try it Lindsey,” Lord Shade laughed in amusement. “But you won’t be going anywhere, my dearest soul.”
Lindsey turned to and door, naively turning her back to Lord Shade. She stepped forwards and could feel cold air coming from the other side. Before she could have any more doubts, Lindsey reached out and slid her fingers into the darkness.
She gasped; her hand had gone through.
“No!” Lord Shade screamed inhumanly. “It can’t be!”
But he was too late.
A cold, calmly hand grabbed Lindsey’s from the other side and dragged her through the dark, swirling void.
“Lindsey!” Lord Shade wailed her name over and over again, but there was no reply.
Lindsey was gone.
