Mike swung by her office and picked her up and they left for the karaoke bar to meet up with her team mates for a drink and more goodbyes. Control was hopping that night and Taunya saw Audrey running around like a wild woman making sure that everyone's drinks were filled and that her customers were satisfied. Taunya smiled to herself and went over to the bar to order two whiskey sours with Jameson. Taunya and Mike sipped their drinks and walked over to the table surrounded by Gina and her now former co-workers. Mike was introduced to everyone and Gina gave Taunya a wink of approval behind his back to let her know that she was pleased.

             
Taunya filled out a karaoke slip and brought it to the KJ. They all sat around drinking and sharing in the merriment of another week down the hatch, looking forward to the weekend and what was to come.

             
“Please welcome Taunya to the stage.” the KJ announced.

             
Taunya marched up to the stage and grabbed the mic stand as her song began. It was her favorite song by Stevie Wonder. She sang:

For once in my life I have someone who needs me/ someone I've needed so long
For once, unafraid, I can go where life leads me /and somehow I know I'll be strong

She looked out at the crowd, and, seeing her friends, former work mates, and new lover, she felt genuinely happy.

For once I can touch what my heart used to dream oooof/ long before I knew

She had perished the thought of James from her mind entirely and she had a feeling that her nightmares were soon to be banished as well.

She thought about the new adventures she was bound to have and all the new memories she was yet to make.

She thought about how Mike fulfilled her and about how her life was only just beginning.
