He pushed the entire length of his cock into her as she sucked Jelani’s cock to the back of her throat. They all groaned at the immediate feeling. Hers was trapped in the back of her throat where it vibrated along Jelani’s cock.

“Oh, fuck. Yes, Jessica.” Jelani gripped her shoulder with one hand. The other gripped the sheets next to them. Up and down his length she moved to the same pace as Marcario plundered her cunt.

Marcario had an iron grip to her hips and pistoned in and out of her. Each stroke drove her already sensitive muscles twitching around him. “You feel so good, Jess. Never has it felt this good…”

There was nothing in Jessica’s universe except the three of them as they reached higher and higher toward the peak of ecstasy. She kept moaning around Jelani’s cock until he hollered out his release, jerking his cock into her mouth as he shot a hot stream of cum down her throat. She continued to suck every drop from him until he fell back against the bed. She thought for a moment she would outlast Marcario. His rhythm started to falter as his strokes became shorter and more frenzied. Her reached around her and pinched her clit between his callused fingers. She screamed and bucked against him as another orgasm roared through her system.

She faintly heard Marcario holler out her name when she was pulled into the black.

Jessica had no idea what time it was when she opened her eyes. The lights were all out and she lay cocooned between two male bodies. One lay on his side in front of her and the other lay on his back behind her. She shifted slightly but didn’t feel any residue stickiness between her legs. She felt a tingle of embarrassment at having slept through their cleaning her, but was thankful at the same time. Other than a soft ache from muscles she hadn’t exercised in a long time, she felt incredible. She had never felt such an intense moment of hedonistic pleasure in her life. Even lying here between the two of them made her feel as if she found her place in the world.

I’ve got to get out of here.

Her inner animal protested immediately. They were her safe place and she would never be in danger between them. Except that she knew that the Bennett brothers weren’t planning on sticking around. They had fun, and her heart would never love anyone as much as she knew she would love them. But she couldn’t risk it. Sooner or later she would disappoint them, and they would resent her for being clingy and expecting them to keep her protected.

Slipping from their bed was easier then she expected. Finding her clothes was a bigger challenge. She had great night vision, but even she had a hard time finding every stitch. Stepping daintily around, she gathered what she could and shoved the garments into her bag. In the end she was forced to leave behind a sock and her underwear. They might sleep through the night, but she knew that Jelani tended to wake up just before dawn and stare out the window, lost in whatever dreams tormented his sleep.

There wasn’t a single spot on the floor that squeaked as she tiptoed her way down to the main level and out the sliding door to the deck. The cold winter wind immediately bit her skin. She relaxed and allowed the deer to come forward, thankful a heavy coat of fur now protected her from the elements. She bent her knees and picked up the strap of her bag with her teeth. It swung slightly as she walked across the deck and out into the snow-covered forest.

She battled her instinct all the way home. The doe wanted to go back to where she felt safe. Wandering around the forests at night was far from safe. While most wolves in the area were friends, many were natural animals and would view her as a delicious meal to satisfy their hungry bellies.

Chapter Eight

“It’s been three days.” Marcario smacked the steering wheel with his open hand. “How can one woman hide from us for so long in a town this small?” He flicked at his ring with his thumbnail, making it spin around his finger. It was a nervous habit he started in high school and now he didn’t even realize when he did it.

“Considering she’s a shape-shifter, I imagine it’s pretty easy.” Jelani thought back to the doe he saw standing at the edge of the forest this morning. Her soft brown fur glowed almost golden in the soft morning light. Her features were gentle, almost delicate. Intelligence shone in her black eyes and he’d had a crazy thought. As soon as he opened the sliding door, she leapt back into the forest. He almost shouted her name to see if the deer reacted in any way, but she was gone before he had the door open.

“We moved too fast, didn’t we?”

Marcario’s features hardened slightly before he nodded abruptly. “No…maybe. Should we have come on to her separately at first?”

Jelani shrugged. He had known the moment he opened his eyes that morning that they moved too quickly. He didn’t know why she felt the need to escape their bed while they slept. “She lives in a town where polyandrous marriages are normal. I can’t see that both of us being there would be that much of a shock.”

“Then it has to be a trust issue.”

“Considering what we know about her past, it’s a logical assumption.”

“When we find her, we keep it low-key. I don’t want to scare her off, and earning her trust may take longer now.”

“If we do this right, she will crave our touch and then we can get past these barriers she is trying to build.” Both he and Marcario agreed that they would have preferred her to stick around so they could talk and maybe make some plans for the future. They both had been ready to charge after her when Jelani noticed the strange footprints in the snow on the deck. The path started out with a few human footprints and switched to deer hooves.

“Do you think that deer are hunted up here?

“Yes, but I know it isn’t a year-round thing. She would know more about that and not venture out and put herself in more danger.” Marcario leaned down slightly and looked up at the second floor of the building they were passing. “That must be the radio station Mai was listening to this morning.”

They were both at Mai’s for breakfast when the DJ for 3XTC started talking about how important it was to follow your dreams and not let them hide from you. Jelani thought it sounded like a bunch of overly romantic mush until it started to feel like the man was speaking to directly to him and Marcario.

He looked up through the windshield and saw a man waving wildly at him. He lifted a hand to wave back and the man responded by rapidly pointing downward. He looked in that direction and saw three older women holding on to each other and they tried to climb over the snowbank.

“Hey, pull over.” He pointed out the window at the frail-looking trio. “Do you see them?”

“Yeah, hold on.” Marcario parked the truck and got out of it the same time as Jelani. One thing they both liked about some cultures was having a healthy respect for their elders. Neither of them could stomach the new-world attitude toward the growing number of senior citizens.

Jelani glanced both ways and then jogged the short distance to where the women were struggling. “Ladies! Wait, please. Let us help you.”

The three of them all looked up in tandem and he slipped slightly under their direct gaze. It felt a little unnerving being under such scrutiny. For a moment he felt as though they looked right into the heart of him and saw all of his secrets.

“Not too creepy, huh?” Marcario muttered under his breath, and Jelani knew his brother was feeling the same.

“Ladies, please allow us to escort you across the street?” Marcario bowed slightly and held out his good arm.

“You’re Mai Solfalvi’s…”

“…brothers, aren’t you?”

“Yes, ma’am, we are.” Jelani glanced behind them at the yarn shop they came out of. “And you must be the McGuigan sisters. Mai told me you’re teaching her how to knit.”

“That’s right. I’m Lavender, and these are my sisters, Lily and Poppy.” She pointed to each woman as she introduced them.

“It’s a pleasure to meet the three of you,” Jelani replied. “Where are you ladies headed to this afternoon?”

“Oh, boys. You have…” Lily answered.

“…wonderful timing,” Poppy continued.

“We weren’t certain if we could make it on time…” Lily started to speak.

“…for our afternoon tea at The Shack.” Lavender finished up.

“We’ll make sure you get over there.” Jelani offered his arm to Poppy. She slipped her fingers around his elbow and held on tight enough. Her grip was much stronger than he expected. Before he could comment, Lily gripped his other elbow with right hand and gripped Marcario with her left.

“I get the middle. Every girl wants the middle. ” Lily crooned in a singsong voice and then giggled.

Jelani met Marcario’s amused look over her head and grinned himself. They made their way across the street. Poppy slipped slightly and Jelani heard Marcario’s swift intake of breath. His brother had great reflexes, but the woman was practically hanging off his arm. The stress on his shoulder would be incredibly painful. Typical of his brother, Marcario smiled down at her and didn’t say a word.

“Good thing you are a healthy boy.” She patted him right on his bad bicep. Jelani wanted to cringe for his brother, but didn’t want to upset the ladies.

“I try to stay that way.” Jelani recognized the stress in his brother’s voice and tried to hurry them up slightly.

They walked the three women to the front door of The Shack. “Be sure to have someone walk you back across the street when you’re done.”

“Thank you, boys.”

“We’ll be careful.”

“We promise.”

The three of them walked through the door looking much sturdier then they did when he first saw them.

“Why do I think we might have been taken?”

“Because you were.”

Jelani turned to the man standing behind them. He was taller then he and Marcario. Long blond hair stuck out from beneath his cap, and laid his leather coat. Plop a horned hat on him and he would look like a Viking.

“I’m Marcario, and this is my brother, Jelani.”

“The Solfalvi’s brothers-in-law. I heard you were in town for a visit.” He shook both their hands. “I’m Lars. Don’t let the McGuigan sisters fool you. They’re as spry as mountain goats. They like being escorted by younger men.” The large man grinned at both of them. “Thanks for helping them, though.”

“No problem,” Marcario answered. “We are running an errand for our sister. Can you make certain that they get back safely?”

“Never fear, the three of them will rook someone into escorting them back to the shop.” Lars looked across the street and lifted a hand to wave to someone.

He glanced across the street in time to see Jessica’s profile move away from the large window. “That’s who he was pointing at!”

“There she is.” Marcario started across the street.

“It was nice meeting you, Lars.”

“Ditto. You might want to catch up to your brother before he claims your woman before you do.”

Jelani looked at the other man in surprise. “What makes you say that? Jessica is a friend of ours. That’s all.”

Lars laughed, his voice a deep booming sound that echoed down the street. “You keep telling yourself that, boy, and we’ll see who’s right in the end. Nice to meet you both.”

The big man stepped into the shop, leaving Jelani standing outside with more questions. “Was he a shape-shifter, too?” That answer could wait until later. Jelani headed back across the street, waving up at the DJ, who was talking intently into a microphone.

Jess darted back into the wool shop, afraid that they spotted her. She didn’t expect Mai’s brothers to still be in town.
Didn’t they have to go back to Africa soon?
She assumed they would want to do some partying in Toronto before leaving.

The reason she came to visit the McGuigan sisters today was to try to distract herself. Marcario and Jelani consistently rotated through her thoughts. Did they mean what they said about getting to know her better? How would they feel about finding out she was a shape-shifter? Why the hell would they want her, anyway? Her ass and hips were much curvier, and she didn’t look anything like she did when they first met. If she still looked like that, then she would have some fun with them…who was she kidding? Even at that size and physical condition she wasn’t brave enough to do anything more with them.

She’d been so surprised to see them come jogging down the street when the sisters went across to The Shack for their afternoon tea. When Poppy slipped and pulled on Marcario’s bad arm she expected him to yell at her or do something. But he didn’t. He didn’t lash out at the oldest sister. Jess was ready for it and heading for the door, but she didn’t have to say anything. In fact, Marcario kept a smile on his face, right up until he saw her.

She retreated back into the corner where there was a large display of merino silk blends. This yarn was so soft and soothing to her senses. Sometimes she liked to wrap up in a blanket and pretend she had arms around her, hugging her. But it wasn’t even close to the feeling of contentment she felt in their arms. The bell above the door chimed and she knew who it was the moment his scent hit her nose. She turned around, still gripping the ball of soft yarn in front of her. Marcario stood there, his gaze direct as if he was a predator and she was his prey.
