Halting his words as a small group of employees make their way out of the elevator, Mark says a polite good morning to them before giving his full attention back to Ethan.

            “How…how
well
do you know the backgrounds of the interns we hire here?”

Alarm creeping back into Ethan’s voice, he responds,

“Why?  Is there a problem with one of them?  Just tell me who, and I’ll…”

“Oh—no, no…there’s no problem, I just…”

He trails off as he considers whether or not Ethan is the right person to ask.

Ethan had been one of their first hires—a loyal man who took his job quite seriously.  There had never been a security issue he wasn’t already on top of before it became known.  The young man, who couldn’t have been more than thirty, had proven his loyalty to the company…but could he possibly prove his loyalty for something so risqué?

“One of the new girls…Jasmine—I didn’t get her last name…”

“Donovan, sir.”

“Ah…Donovan…”

Mark lets his mind drift off to how sexy “Jasmine Donovan” sounds as he imagines her in nothing but a sheer babydoll nightie…

“Is there a problem with her, Mr. P?  Once again, just say the word, and I’ll have her out of here…”

No
!” Mark yells, a little loudly.  A few people turn to look in his and Ethan’s direction, and Ethan himself seems taken aback.  “No, no—um…”

Mark realizes it’s too late to turn back now, and decides to just let out with it.

“I was wondering…if you had any…
personal
information on her…”

Reading Mark’s expression with ease, both men share a slow smile that then becomes a raunchy laugh.

“You
dog
you,” Ethan jeers, playfully hitting Mark on the arm.  “Can’t say I blame you though—she’s quite a tasty dish.”

“Well, let’s just say she’s a dish I want served up hot, as soon as possible.”

Both men try to stifle their laughter as a few more employees exit the nearby elevator.

“So, how can I help, Mr. P?  You need an address?  You need a phone number?”

“Um…”

Mark thinks this over, but realizes the unimportance of that information.

“Actually…I need to know things on a more
personal
level.  Is she married?  Kids?  Her age?  Who recommended her to work here…that kind of stuff.”

Giving a private salute, Ethan nods quickly as he promises,

“I’ll have that information by the end of the day—just buzz me down to the front desk before you leave tonight.”

Mark gives a big smile and shakes his head in reprieve,

“Who’s better than you, Ethan?”

“No one, sir—and if you
do
find someone better, let me know.  I’ll take him down,
easy
.”

The men share one final laugh as Mark gives Ethan’s back a gentle slap, and Mark is finally able to make it back to his office for good.

The majority of the day passes by uneventfully, and Mark avoids taking long strolls through his department, for fear of running into Jasmine.

I need to know what she’s about first,
he rationalizes.
The last thing I need is to find out that she’s related to Eric or Michael—some unmentioned niece or goddaughter…

The thought of possibly making a bad situation worse by trumping his blabber-mouthed “hotel guest” with the seduction of girl younger than she looks, or toting children she’d later bribe him into pampering and spoiling is enough to keep him bound to his office for as long as he can stand.

Somewhere near the end of the day Mark heads straight to the men’s room, making sure to keep his eyes forward and his expression strictly business. so as not to be disturbed.

He almost reaches around to pat himself on the back as he returns to his office, realizing that he’s proving his partners somewhat wrong—he
can
control himself.

When the need arises, he
can
keep his cravings under wraps.

Continuing to congratulate himself for not seeking out his little redheaded goddess, he doesn’t take notice of the crouched figure behind his desk.

Closing the door behind him, he approaches his seat only to jump back in surprise at the scene before him.

Kneeling down onto the carpet below, Jasmine’s beautiful bare ass stares up at him from underneath a short, loose pleated skirt that’s ridden up her back as she hurriedly scrambles to gather several scattered sheets of paper she seems to have dropped.

Mark’s heartbeats skip for a few seconds as he stares down at her swollen sex softly nestled between her legs, covered in baby blue laced panties.

Feeling the room begin to spin around him, he tries to steady himself by reaching out for his chair—which swivels a bit, causing Jasmine to jump upright.

Throwing the papers she’s managed to retrieve so far onto Mark’s desk top, she stands while pulling her skirt down again.

            “Oh my God, I am
so
sorry,” she begins.  “I came in to bring you these documents, and I was rushing to be out of your office before you returned…I must have placed them too far on the edge of your desk because they fell…”

Trying to breathe normally, Mark finds a calm smile as he assures,

            “It’s quite alright…I’ll get the rest…”

            “Oh
God
,” Jasmine sighs, covering her face in embarrassment.

            “Hey now…hey…”

Mark removes her soft hands in order to make eye contact as he begs her to relax.

“It’s okay, they’re just papers—I’m sure I’d have just
tossed
them to the side myself anyway…”

He tries to get a laugh from her and fails.

Remembering the deal he made with himself, he releases her hands, and averts his gaze.

“I’ve got an important call to make,” he suddenly rushes.  “Leave the papers, it’s okay—I’ll get them myself.”

“Are you sure?” Jasmine whimpers, ready to stoop down again to resume her retrieval.

            “
Yes
!  Yes, I’m sure.”

Jasmine’s wide eyes instantly reduce Mark to a field of guilt trips, and he tries to comfort her without reaching out—as much as he wants to.

“Thanks so much, Jasmine.  I really appreciate you bringing them in to me—I promise you, I’ll handle it from here.”

Hanging her head in shame as she slumps her shoulders, Jasmine shuffles over to the other side of the room.

Mark is both heartbroken at her leaving, and joyful at the relief it will bring.

“Sorry, again,” she whispers, and before he can respond, she’s gone.

Waiting around impatiently at the front desk, making small talk with the guard nearby, Mark taps his briefcase against his leg.

It seems to take forever for Ethan to appear, and as he does, both men smile.

“How ‘bout I walk you out to your car, Mr. P?” Ethan offers, and after accepting, they head out the front doors to the marked parking space not too far away.

            “So, what’s the scoop?”

Leaning on his car, Mark is told the best news he could ever hope for.

“She’s just turned twenty, and is trying to get her bachelor in Performing Arts and Sciences.  Never married, no kids—and the person listed as her reference is Keysha Adams, who works for Michael in the Marketing Department.”

Grinning from ear-to-ear, Mark opens his car door in order to toss the briefcase inside.

“So…what you’re saying is I’m free and clear?”

“As a bird over the ocean, sir.”

            Mark chuckles at the analogy.

            “Wonderful.”

“Glad I could be of service—let me know if there’s anything else you need…”

“That’ll do, Ethan,” Mark replies, staring up at the building as he recalls seeing a blushing Jasmine give him a nervous smile as he headed for the elevator to leave for the night.

            “Cool—you have a good night, Mr. P.”

            “Oh!  One more thing…”

Mark closes his car door before heading around to Ethan, who’s standing near the passenger side.

“I know this goes without saying, but I’d really appreciate it if this was kept between us…”

            “If
what
was kept between us, sir?” Ethan responds, feigning ignorance.

Mark grins at him, and reaches out to rest a hand on his shoulder.

            “Perfect.”

The rest of the evening is spent formulating the perfect plan.

With the green light that he’s been waiting for, Mark is now able to focus solely on how he can get Jasmine alone, and find out just how far she’s willing to go to make it to the top.

It isn’t uncommon for female interns at
JL&P
to be aspiring actresses or models.  Some really believe in the hard work they’re willing to put forth propelling them to the top…but most…most have no qualms about accepting a helping hand—even if that hand is placed on their firm little backsides.

Counting down to a hundred sit-ups, Mark finds himself slapping together the perfect scenario in order to snag himself the perfect score with his pretty little redhead.

He’s in late the next day.  After heading to the gym to continue to work off some steam to prepare for the night ahead, he waltzes into the office at around noon.

Upon entering the department’s small kitchen, his heart races as he spots Jasmine amongst a group of giggling young girls—all of which stop mid-laugh when they spot their boss.

Scattering quickly, they greet him as they walk around him and out of the room, and he turns his attention to Jasmine before she makes to do the same.

“Ms. Donovan, I was hoping I could speak to you about those papers you brought to my office yesterday,” he begins, sternly.  “It seems they were seriously out of order, not to mention that a few pages were missing—some very important pages…”

Jasmine’s beautiful blue eyes widen, and he can almost hear her heartbeats thudding wildly under her yellow sundress and white cotton shrug.

“Oh my God,” she cries, “I am
so
sorry!  How…
where
can I get another copy?  I’ll fix it, I swear!”

Mark holds up an unsympathetic hand to silence her.

“I’ve spent the entire morning trying to figure it out, but I have other things I need to attend to, and won’t be able to devote more time to it until this evening.”

            “
I
can do it!” she almost sobs.  “I can take care of it right
now
—you don’t have to worry about it, it was
my
fault!”

            “Actually, I
do
have to worry,” Mark snaps.  “I’ll need those papers by tomorrow morning.”

“Oh my God,” she whispers.  “Oh God…
please
don’t fire me…”

It takes everything in Mark not to cross the distance between them, take her into his arms, and drop the act.  She appears to be on the verge of tears, and it breaks his heart.

He finds himself wanting to find another way to get her, and almost decides to withdraw from the plan.

“Hey now,” he soothes, trying his best not to reach out to touch her.  “No one’s getting fired.  We all make mistakes, and this one is fixable…I’m just…”

Realizing the plan is not lost, Mark smiles down at her as he whispers his next words.

“I’m just going to need someone to stay a little late tonight to help me get those papers in order, and make a few notes on them, as well as several copies.”

            “Oh
God
, yes,
definitely

I
can stay!”

Mark feigns uncertainty as he replies,

“I wouldn’t feel right about having you here alone so late at night—someone suggested Justin Pierce or Ian Stanley…”

Watching her backbone spring into action at the mere mention of two other interns, Mark tries not to smile at her indignation.

            “Sir, with all due respect,
I
created the problem—
I’d
like to be the one to clean it up.”

“A young girl here all alone with me at night won’t look right,” he explains, shaking his head believably as he holds both hands up.  “Thank you, Jasmine, but I’m going to have to decline.”
