Her tiny hands rubbed along each ridge of his six-pack abs, heading downward. The glint in her eyes told him she had a plan and it was one he was going to like. Her fingertips brushed through the thin line of hair that led into the waistband of his pants. Charlie undid the button and then the zipper of his pants. When her finger touched the skin inside the waistband of his boxers, Aaron summoned all his strength not to move. He felt his pants slide down his legs just as she murmured,
“Hold on, the best is yet to come.”

It took him a second to realize what she’d said. Opening his eyes, Aaron was shocked to see Charlie on her knees in front of him. All air fled his lungs as her tongue left a glistening trail on her luscious lips. He could feel the small bead of liquid balanced on the very tip of his cock and yelped when she captured it with the end of her tongue. The sigh that flowed through their mating bond, accompanied by her excitement at being able to please him, made Aaron
and
his beast purr.

He watched as she placed her palms on his thighs, rubbing her cheek from the tip to the base of his extremely hard cock. Goose bumps danced along his spine as she nipped and tasted along the vein that ran the length of his dick, working her way back to the tip. When she licked along the ridge under the mushroom head with just the tip of her tongue, his fists clenched so hard his nails dug into his palm.

Her tongue slipped into the slit at his tip and she hummed her satisfaction at his taste. The muscles in his thighs shook. He was holding on by a thread. Aaron moved his hands to her shoulders and massaged, hoping to distract himself from exploding into her mouth.

She sucked as much of his length into her mouth as she could, and hollowed her cheeks. Through gritted teeth, he spoke aloud, “
Mo ghra’
, I’m not going to last long if you keep doing that.”

Charlie worked him in and out of her mouth for a few more strokes, chuckling at his words. The sensations made him weak in the knees. He shuddered as she sucked first one and then the other of his balls into her mouth. His mate licked and massaged until he thought his head might blow off his shoulders.

Releasing his sac, she kissed the top of one thigh and then the other, before placing both her hands around the base of his cock and taking him deep into her mouth. Charlie worked him in and out, across her lips, sucking and humming until he shouted and gave up the fight. Aaron released into her waiting mouth, all but blacking out at the mind-blowing experience his mate had just given him. Finally regaining some of his senses, he realized she was still massaging his sensitive cock with her precious hands and felt himself begin to harden again.

Sliding his hands under her arms, he picked her up and had her on her back in the middle of his very large bed in the blink of an eye. Kneeling on the floor, he threw her legs over his shoulders; his mouth was just a few inches from her center. He rubbed his nose against the warm wet silk covering what only his mate could give him. The scent of her arousal drove him mad. Slipping two fingers under the lace at her hip, Aaron tore the material and threw them from the bed. He breathed deep, letting his beast bath in the scent of their wet and needy mate. Unable to wait another moment, he leaned forward, letting the just tip of his tongue lick the glistening seam of her pussy, teasing her as she had teased him.

He groaned deep in his throat. Charlie tasted like sunshine and perfection. Placing his hands under her ass, he lifted her closer to his face and began to feast. He drove his tongue deep into her warm, wet channel, licking every inch of her he could reach, curling the end to tease the bundle of nerves at her center, loving the fact that she screamed in pleasure.

Charlie’s hands grabbed his hair, pulling, begging him to continue. She was wound so tightly he could hear her struggling to breathe. Aaron placed the flat of his tongue at the bottom of her outer lips, and slowly licked all the way to her clit. Her excited nub pulsed as he sucked it between his lips. Flicking up and down and in circles with his tongue gave his mate just what she needed. He smiled against her throbbing pussy as she came over and over again.

He licked and swallowed the honey that flowed from his mate, nuzzling her back to earth until she released his hair and her breathing returned to normal. He let her legs slide off his shoulders and massaged the muscles in her thighs. There had never been a lovelier sight than his Charlie completely satiated, spread like a decadent courtesan across his bed.

He kissed her hip, making his way to her stomach where he paid extra attention to her belly button with his tongue and teeth. Charlie giggled as he licked his way up her stomach, and then sighed when he found the sweet spot between her breasts. Palming both her breasts, he squeezed and massaged, feeling the already raised peaks grow harder against his hands. He kissed her neck, worrying the spot behind her ear until she moved her head allowing him more access. He spent a few extra minutes nipping and kissing until her nails dug into his biceps.

Charlie grabbed him by the hair and slammed her mouth into his. He loved that she took control and opened immediately for her. They ate at each other until both were breathless. His mate was as sassy in bed as she was out and
damn
if he didn’t love it. Her hands in his hair and her tongue working his mouth had him ready to explode. He shifted his hips slightly and pushed into her until he could go no farther. Her scream in his head almost had him coming again.
“Aaron! Oh My God, yes!”

He had sworn to go slow, but the feel of her muscles contracting around him made it impossible for him to hold still. He slid out of her, leaving only the very tip of his blissfully hard cock resting inside her.
“Look at me, Charlie”
he commanded.

Her bright blue eyes snapped to his and he thrust back inside her. Immediately pulling back out, Aaron started a rhythm that his mate met stroke for stroke. He stared into her eyes, watching as her passion reached heights that he could tell surprised even her. Grabbing her calves, he pushed her knees forward, lifting her bottom from the bed. His dick slid deeper into her. Rolling his hips, he felt the head of his cock tease the very sensitive bundle of nerves, making the walls of her vagina close so tightly around him; it felt as if they were truly one. Charlie’s eyes rolled back in her head before sliding shut. Aaron slammed into her as far as he could reach, bumping her clit with his pelvis and loving her moans of pleasure.

Reaching between their bodies, Aaron tapped her clit with his pad of his thumb and simply watched as she went into orbit. Her mouth opened in a silent scream as her eyes flew open, catching his. Those beautiful azure depths held the promise of their future. One final thrust and he was helpless but to follow her over the edge. They shared every moment, not only physically but also mentally and spiritually. Aaron knew he would never be the same and it was the best news he’d heard in a long time.

Reluctantly pulling his still semi-erect cock out of her still quaking pussy some time later, Aaron gently lifted his drowsy mate and lay back against the pillows with her draped across his chest. It was the same position they’d been in the night before and the one he decided they would be in every night for all time.

Charlie looked up with a sleepy smile and kissed his chin. Her head landed clumsily back on his chest and in a matter of minutes, her breathing was low and deep. Aaron rubbed her back, enjoying just holding her and glad her markings weren’t bothersome like the night before. All thoughts of anything but his wonderful mate fled his mind as he pulled the sheet over them and let his eyes close.

Sleep well,
mo ghra
’.

CHAPTER TEN

She heard Aaron’s sweet words in her mind and tried to answer, but even her brain cells were tired. He had truly loved every single part of her to exhaustion. Any remaining doubts that they were meant to be together simply evaporated. It defied all explanation, as pretty much everything with her dragon did.

Charlie drifted in and out of sleep. The markings on her back tingled but Aaron’s touch kept the irritation at bay. What everyone kept referring to as her ‘magic’ was glowing more brightly, and in her
euphoric state, she was better able to examine it. It was like the logical side of her brain was asleep, leaving the rest of her to look at the spark with a fresh set of eyes.

What Aaron had told her and Kyra had agreed with, she was now seeing for herself. What had been difficult at first to detect was now glowing in a vibrant lavender color. The longer she watched, the brighter it glowed, the more defined it became, and if she wasn’t simply dreaming, there was an accompanying hum. It kind of reminded her of a note searching for the perfect pitch… high and clear, pure in origin, sweet to the ear.

Finally succumbing to sleep, her dreams came almost immediately. The vision was grainy, as if she was watching an old home movie. It took a moment for everything to come into focus, but when it did, it was as pretty as any painting she’d ever seen.

She could smell what she first thought was honeysuckle, but on closer inspection, the woody, mossy undertone told her it was heather. Turning in circles, Charlie saw rolling hills covered in the tiny lavender flowers, their fresh scent inescapable.

She heard the giggle of a little girl followed by the sound of a woman’s voice. Not able to make out what she was saying but drawn to the sound, she walked over a small bridge and up a hill. Just over the crest, she saw the woman pushing the child on a wooden swing hanging from a huge oak tree. There was no denying they were mother and daughter. Even if Charlie hadn’t had had umpteen genetics classes, it still would have been obvious. Their long blond hair was identical in color, with the top layers clipped at their crowns, and even their curls twisted in the same direction.

The closer she got the more of the woman’s words she could make out. She was telling her daughter a story. One that made Charlie smile. Sitting on a stump beside a clear creek, she listened as the woman wove a tale of dragons, knights, and a fairy princess.

“So you see Ailsa, dragons are the guardians of all the Universe’s secrets and treasures. She trusts them and loves them most of all. It was she that watched from above for so very many years to find human men great enough to fight beside her beloved beasts. When the Universe found the knights battling with all that they were to protect her earth and its inhabitants, she sent the great Dragon Kings to meet with King Arthur.”

“The collaboration was a success and for years knights and dragons together kept order, but as all things go, the evil of the world sought to destroy the good. The dragons were forced to join their souls, the part of them that was the most special, with that of earth’s great men.”

“It took boundless magic to perform such a feat; a mage that had lived almost as long as the Universe herself was the only one strong enough. He worked his magic. Man and dragon became one. All that was left was to teach the men to become a dragon and then to fly. For that he called upon the Fairy Princess, Ailsa.”

The girl squealed with delight, “Her name is just like mine.”

“Yes, sweetling, it is,” her mother answered as she continued. “The Princess Ailsa was happy to help. Along with her came the mighty Fey Army. For who better than winged warriors to teach the knights how to soar the skies?”

“It took several days, but the warrior fairies were successful and the men who became dragons learned to fly. Princess Ailsa was so pleased that she promised the day would come when a fairy princess from her own line would wed a dragon made man. The Universe blessed the Princess’ proclamation, assuring that when the time was right, it would come to pass.”

“Did it happen, momma? Did the fairy and the dragon man get married?”

“Not yet, little one, and do you know why?”

The little girl jumped from the swing, dancing in a circle and clapping her hands. She sang her answer as only a child could do. “Because I am the fairy princess! Right momma? It’s me?”

The mother laughed, picking up the child and hugging her close. “Yes, my beautiful Ailsa, it is you. You are the fairy princess that will wed the dragon man.”

Charlie stood to go, feeling as if she was intruding when the mother’s voice rang out. “Charlene! Charlene Gallagher!”

Charlie turned, not believing her ears, to find both mother and daughter motioning her to them. The closer she got, the fainter the image of the child became. Taking the final step that brought her to within touching distance of the woman, the little girl completely disappeared.

“What happened? Where did she go?” Charlie asked.

“She had to go. You and she are one and the same,” the woman answered.

“I think I’m confused. What exactly does that mean?”

“It means, here in your dream, you were able to see yourself as a child. Not the way you actually were, but the way I see you. And when you came close, your younger image had to go back where she came from.” The woman patted her chest above her heart. “You two cannot occupy the same place at the same time.”

“Well, I shouldn’t be surprised after all I’ve seen but…”

“I know, it has to be terribly disconcerting, and for that I am so very sorry, my sweetling.”

“Wait a minute. If that was me, then you are…” Charlie stopped, unable to utter the word.

Smiling a sweet smile, the woman nodded and finished Charlie’s question, “Your mother.”

Not believing her ears, Charlie just stood, waiting for whatever was to come.

“I know it’s hard to believe and I wish there had been another way. I can’t come to you in person, so I had to wait until you touched your magic and then began to dream.”

“Where are you? Why can’t you come to me?” She had almost thirty years of questions stored up for the woman that gave her life, but those were the first two that popped out.

“I am in Fairy and for now must stay. The day will come when I can walk the mortal plane again and then I will find you. I promise with all my heart that I want nothing more than to meet you and the wonderful people that raised you. I watched the Gallaghers from the moment I knew you were growing inside me. They were the best humans I’d ever seen. Your father had gone to the Heavens and because of that, I was being called home. Fairy is no place for a hybrid, even one of Royal blood. Princess Ailsa agreed. All she asked was that you be named in her honor. I was allowed the time to make sure you were cared for. You, my sweet Ailsa, are so very important to so many people.”

“Okay I have to ask…is this for real, or a byproduct of falling in love?”

The woman laughed and it sounded like the tinkling of bells, just like Charlie’s dad used to describe hers.

“I assure you it is very real. I am Brynna of Princess Ailsa’s blood, Keeper of the Hill. It is for that reason that I cannot come see you in person. Not until a new Keeper is born. I was given the freedom to find love by the Princess. Coming to the mortal plane, I found your father. His name was Matthew, a good man with a good heart… a fireman. One night while fighting a blaze, the building collapsed and he was caught inside. Thankfully, he did not suffer.”

The sadness she saw in Brynna’s eyes was palpable. Charlie felt the pain like it was her own, which she guessed it rather was.

“The following months were lonely, but I had you and the hope of your future that sustained me. The night of your birth, after I knew you were healthy, I took you to the church, made sure the priest came right to the door and persuaded him, as we fairy can do, to call Det. Gallagher. I followed you and the good detective to the hospital, waited and then watched as they took you home.”

“Over the years, as Princess Ailsa allowed others of our clan to visit the mortal plane, they would check on you and send home reports of your wellbeing. Your first day of kindergarten, your high school and college graduations, and the day you became a doctor…all the milestones were recorded in this crystal.”

Brynna showed Charlie a beautiful light green crystal with copper mountings on both ends. Each mounting was etched with the same symbol as Charlie’s pendant and birthmark.

“Those symbols?” Charlie pointed at the fairy’s necklace.

“Yes, I’m coming to that. This crystal is Apophyllite. It’s very rare and very precious. It can hold the memories of someone the owner loves. The etchings are of our clan and for protection. The four wings of the four elementals to protect us no matter what direction our foes may come. The knotted ring represents the
love, faith, loyalty, and friendship
we share with all fey, our allies, and the Universe. And the cross to signify the Holy Creator. I prayed for you to be marked with our sigil and also gave you one made of copper and blessed by the Princess, the Holy Ones of Fairy, a man of faith from Earth, and of course, the Universe. I am happier than you will ever know that you wear it to this day.”

“Wow. I have to admit it means a lot to know that you didn’t just abandon me. I guess I kinda knew that all along. It was just something I felt in my heart, but to hear you say the words really means something. Thank you.” Charlie spoke past the lump in her throat, trying hard not to cry.

“I am glad I can give you some solace. It warms my heart to know that even though separated, you felt my love for you. I am also overjoyed you found your magic…or should I say your mate found your magic.” Brynna smiled knowingly.

“Yeah, about that.”

The fairy laughed, “Do not worry. It is as it was meant to be. You heard the story I told your younger self?”

“Yes.”

“That is not just a tale, but a history lesson for her
and
for you. Your Aaron shares blood with one of the original Dragon Kings and you, my lovely daughter, are of Ailsa’s line. You are the lovers in the story.”

“Yeah, right,” Charlie snorted. “I would know if I was a fairy princess.”

“Would you?”

Charlie thought for a moment and then looked back at Brynna.  Answering with a certainty she didn’t feel, the young doctor answered, “I would,” then added, “wouldn’t I?”

“Let me ask you a question. Did you know you had magic inside you?”

“No,” Charlie answered.

“And did you know that dragons existed before a few weeks ago?”

“Well, no. But…”

Brynna held up her index finger and grinned. “One more question. Was anyone ever able to explain the markings on your back?”

No sooner had the words left her mother’s mouth than Charlie’s markings began to tingle. Shrugging her shoulders, she quickly answered, “No, but now that you mention it…”

“What did you call them when you were younger?”

“My wings.”

“Because that is what they are, sweetling. They
are
your wings.” Brynna nodded as she answered.

Charlie felt as if the world had somehow tilted on its axis. This woman had come to her in a dream, told her she was her birth mother, told her she’d been monitoring her, and to top it off, she was now telling her that she, Charlene Gallagher, was a fairy.

Brynna laid her hand on Charlie’s arm. An immediate sense of calm washed over the younger woman and the air around them was suddenly filled with the scent of heather. “Don’t worry, Charlie. I’m not just going to drop this on you and run away. Yes, my time is almost up for now, but I cannot leave you with so many doubts, and Princess Ailsa has said she will allow me to visit you whenever I can in your dreams. Therefore, I’ll tell you what you need to know right now. First, let me ask…what is your middle name?”

It was as if a light bulb went off in her head, and when she answered, Charlie couldn’t help but sound surprised. “Well, hell, it’s Ailsa, but I guess you knew that. Here you’ve been saying it over and over and I never put two and two together.” Shaking her head, she patted her mother’s hand where it still laid on her arm. “My dad used to say it was an old family name that no one had used for years, but when he saw me he thought of it and since it fit, they made it my middle name. I guess you had something to do with that?”

Winking, Brynna only nodded. “Secondly, the Dragon Healer and the little white witch will be of great help to you. Please thank the daughter of the Grand Priestess for using her powerful earthen magic to help me find you. Tell the Healer I am in her debt for using her great intellect and wisdom to aide you and that she will find the answers to her questions. She will understand.”

“Enjoy the love the Universe has given you, daughter mine. You and your dragon mate will live long, happy lives. Fate deemed it so from the moment of your conception. And lastly, please give my undying gratitude to the Gallaghers for being exactly what you needed, for loving you like their own, and for being wonderful parents to you when I couldn’t be there.”

“Now I must return to Fairy and you must wake up. It is time for you to share your heritage with your mate. Never fear, he loves you and will accept you for exactly who you are. You are the light of his soul. He is dragon. He is one of the Universe’s chosen. Together there is nothing you two cannot accomplish.  Never forget who you are. Never forget that I love you. Wake, sweet Charlie, and wear your wings.”
