I tried to keep
the smile that was forming from creeping onto my lips. It was too easy to
figure boys out sometimes. Give them a compliment and they would do whatever
you wanted. It was almost too easy. So why couldn’t I figure out the one boy I
actually wanted to figure out? Danger was right about one thing he had said the
other night; I would never meet another man like him.

“I’m just
wondering what it is I have to do to get this guy to notice me. I mean it seems
like no matter what I do I’ll always just be one of the guys to him. I’ll
always just be that girl he wants to be friends with.” I took a small sip out
of my coffee, trying to not give too much away. I wanted to say that no matter
what I did he would always look at me like a kid sister but I was scared that
would give too much away. Trigger wasn’t a fool, he would put two and two
together and figure out I was talking about one of his brothers.

Trigger puffed his
chest out. “Sounds like a little bitch ass to me. Fuck that pussy, if he can’t
see what you’re about he doesn’t deserve to have you anyway.” Trigger clutched
his fist at his sides like just the thought of some guy making me chase him
around was enough to make him want to pound his face in. I doubted he would be
so eager if he knew I was talking about his brother. Or maybe he still would
be, who knew how Trigger or Link would react if they ever found out about what
had happened between Danger and me.

“I know that a
part of you is right but it’s not that simple,” I sighed, wishing I could make
him understand what I was feeling better than how I was expressing it but I
knew there wasn’t really a clear way to do that.

“Yes, it is that
simple. Who the fuck is this bitch ass pussy? I’ll go give him a talking to
right now.”

“Forget it,” I
snapped. “ I should have known better than to think you would understand, I
shouldn’t have come.” I got up and headed for the door, practically running to
get away from him now.

I didn’t know what
I had thought would happen when I got here. Maybe that Trigger would have some
great insight and help me understand what the hell I was feeling or how to make
it go away. But I knew deep down it wasn’t either of those things. I had come
here hoping that he would help me win. That he would help me find a way to get
Danger to sleep with me, that he would help me gain the strength to play
whatever game Danger had started. Because deep down in my heart I knew he was
worth it.

I was almost at
the door when Trigger caught up with me. He put his body between the door and
me, resting his hands on my shoulders. “Okay, okay, chill, chill. My bad, Kat,
sometimes I can’t help but be that over-protective brother. Just come back in
and sit down. Please?”

I shrugged then
turned around and headed back toward the leather sofa. Not necessarily because
I wanted to but because Trigger could be impulsive just like Danger at times.
Chances are if I had tried to push past him and leave he would have followed me
anyway, causing a scene.

“I don’t want to
hear about what a fool he is, Trigger,” I tried to explain it to him again.
“Maybe he is but that’s not going to stop me. He’s worth it; if that makes any
sense.”

Trigger nodded.
“It does but I just have to say I’m against it right now. That’s my duty as
your brother, got it, kid?”

I nodded. I was
all too used to the bullshit they gave me anytime a guy even looked at me. It
was ridiculous. Just because they didn’t want to be in a relationship didn’t
mean everyone else in the family had to obey the same rules.

“Good, glad we got
that part straight. Now if you wanna get this ashy ass bitch’s attention…” he
trailed off and grinned when he saw my face. “I mean if you wanna get this
kid’s attention you need to not be so available to him.”

I frowned. “What
do you mean?”

“I mean men want
what they can’t have. Show up somewhere he is looking hot in a little dress and
pay attention to any other guy around beside him. No guy wants a girl that some
other guy doesn’t want more. Get it?”

Was my stepbrother
honestly telling me trying to make Danger jealous was the best plan? I wasn’t
sure that would go over too well. Danger had an awful temper and it seemed like
egging it on wasn’t the best plan.

“But he gets mad
easily,” I pointed out.

Trigger laughed
loudly and his brown eyes sparkled. “Who cares? That’s not your problem. If you
paying attention to other guys is a problem for him then maybe he should treat
you a little better. Right?”

I thought about
what he was saying for a minute and then decided he was right. I was eight-teen
now, a grown woman. If I wanted to go out in a short dress and get attention
from guys who actually seemed interested in me that was my business. Who was
Danger to say what I could or couldn’t do? He was the one who didn’t want to
sleep with me. I had made a fool of myself when I pretty much threw myself at
him that morning. Why couldn’t I find someone who was actually interested in me
if I wanted?

I leaned up and
kissed Trigger on his cheek. “Thanks, Trigger. You’re kind of the best.”

Trigger smiled the
same cocky smile that all three brothers seemed to carry with them everywhere
they went. “Hey, man, that’s what I do.” His grin disappeared and a look of
confusion came across his face. “So, you know who Jennifer Moore is, right? She
was in our grade.”

I did know who she was, actually. She was
pretty in a less obvious way, some might even call her nerdy but she had always
been nice to me in school. She was one of those girls that didn’t care what you
looked like. If you were cool she was cool. She seemed too good to be on any of
my stepbrother’s radar; unless her momma was using again and she owed them
money or something.

“Yeah, I know
her,” I said, choosing my words wisely. “She’s a good girl.”

“Yeah,” Trigger
looked deep in thought for a second. “Didn’t she use to date Johnson from down
on the 3rd?”

I raised my
eyebrows at him. “Maybe. Why do you care?”

“Oh, I don’t. I
don’t at all,” he told me. “I just ran into her the other night and I was
thinking about how I hadn’t seen JT around in a while.”

Something about
his tone made me think there was more to what he was saying than what he was
telling me. But I knew better than to push Trigger about the girls in his life.
Besides I couldn’t really blame him, it’s not like I was being that honest
about what my intentions were with the guys in my life.

“Anyway,” Trigger
asked, playfully hitting me on the knee. “You gonna hang out for a while, kid?”

“Why not?” I asked
him. “Why not?”

He grinned and
grabbed the remote off the floor where he must have thrown it the last time he
watched T.V. The screen sprang to life and I leaned back on the sofa,
pretending that there aren’t fifty million thoughts running through my mind at
the moment.

Damn Danger and
the hold he had on me.

***

“You look bad,
girl.” Meghan looked me up and down, admiring her handy work. She had been hard
at work since I showed up at her house two hours ago telling her I needed her
to make me look like the sexiest bitch she had ever seen. She had clapped her
hands together, jumping up and down on the floor of her tiny apartment. “I have
been waiting years for this exact moment!” She had practically screamed out.

Now, looking at
myself in the mirror, I knew I had come to the right person. Meghan definitely
had a knack for making all the girls in our city look good. Way better than we
would look otherwise. I almost didn’t recognize myself. I couldn’t remember a
time when I had ever looked this good in my life. If this didn’t make every guy
in the city look at me as more than the kid sister of the famous Ford brothers
then I didn’t know what would.

This was sure to
get Danger’s attention.

My normal shoulder
length hair was blown and ironed out, extensions weaved in and out of my head
made my hair look fuller and longer. My makeup was flawless, dark and sexy
around the eyes, bright and attention getting around my cheeks and lips. My
eyes drifted down to the dress that I was wearing. If Danger thought the dress
he had seen at the club last night was bad he hadn’t seen anything yet. This
one was way worse.

The fabric was
silky and short, a dark red color. It hugged my butt just right, showing off
how big it was. The front dipped down low, revealing my C cups perfectly. The
white heels I was wearing made my legs look long and smooth.

“Your boobs are on
point in that dress, girl,” Meghan said, reading my thoughts.

“I don’t even know
who I’m looking at,” I admitted, still admiring myself.

Meghan laughed, her
long hair swaying back and forth in front of her dark skin. “You looking at
you, baby! The you that has just been waiting to come on out and be wild!”

I laughed loudly,
not being able to help myself. Meghan had a way of bringing that side out of
you, the side that just wanted to have fun and not worry about anything else
but the moment.

“Now if you are
done gawking at yourself let’s get a move on. It’s already late enough.” Meghan
knocked her thick hips into me and laughed. I couldn’t help but admire how effortlessly
good she looked as we leave her building and started the walk toward the club.
She was wearing a dress that was even shorter than mine, her hair and makeup
just as good as mine. Meghan never had problems getting attention from any
guys. She definitely had it going on.

We had picked a
club on the other side of town, deciding to stay away from the place we had
been at last night. Not that a shooting would happen twice in the same weekend
at the same club. But who knew? In this city, anything was possible.

I had no idea
where Danger was tonight, just like most nights. He never told me anything
about his business, anything about where he was or what he was doing with his
brothers or club. I wasn’t worried about where I was going, though. It didn’t really
matter. Danger knew everyone. That meant it didn’t matter where the hell I
went; if I was flirting with a guy someone would tell Danger, and fast.
Everyone was just dying to do the most recent thing that got him or her on his
good side.

The club was
already packed by the time we got there. People were swimming in and out of the
dance floor and bar. I could tell my new look was working for me based off of
all the attention I was getting. Guys had been staring me up and down since I
stepped out of Meghan’s building. Both on the street and in the club, it was
only a matter of time until one of them came up to make their move. I was sure
most of them knew I was the Ford brother’s little stepsister, but you got
enough alcohol in someone and they became brave.

I sipped on the
drink Meghan ordered me by the bar and waited patiently. I didn’t know why I
was so nervous, but I was. I hadn’t felt nervous the entire day but now that
the moment was actually here I felt like I had bricks in my stomach. Maybe this
was a horrible idea, why had I listened to Trigger? It’s not like he had the
best track record when it came to girls. He had never even had a girlfriend!

“Dance with me.”

The voice was dark
and mysterious in my ear. I turned around and come face to face with a
dark-haired guy with light brown eyes. He looked around my age. His face was
hard and he licked his lips approvingly as he looked me up and down. I might
have waited for someone better but I could see at least two of Danger’s boys
watching us from across the bar. He would have to do.

I took a long swig
out of my drink, finishing it, and held my hand out for him to take. He grabbed
it harder than necessary and dragged me out toward the dance floor. Someone was
eager to get his groove on. We barely made it to the dance floor before he
swung me around, pushing my ass into him.

I grabbed his
hands and started dancing on him slowly. I could see one of Danger’s boys
shaking his head and taking his phone out of his pocket. It wouldn’t be too
long now; unless Danger sent one of them over to do his dirty work, then all
this would have been for nothing. The thought annoyed me but I pushed it out of
my mind.

The first few
songs were okay but by the 3rd I could tell the guy I was dancing with was
getting bored. I glanced around but Danger was nowhere in sight. The guy
flipped me around roughly and pulled my waist against him hard. He slapped my
ass through my dress really hard and I jumped back a little bit.

He laughed loudly.
“Look at that jiggle.” He slapped my ass again, even harder this time.

Great.

I tried to laugh
him off and move my body further away from him but he grabbed me hard, pulling
me closer to him again. He grabbed my hand hard and dragged it down to the top
of his pants, rubbing it over his rock hard cock. “Look what you did, bad
girl.”

I rolled my eyes.
Of course, the first guy who had come up to me was the one who was the corniest
one in the club. I tried to move away from him again but his other hand was
around my waist, holding me tight.

I yanked my hand
away from his crotch but made little progress. He was way stronger than me. He
grinned and I could feel his hand drift down to my butt again, grabbing it
roughly. “You’re a bad girl.”

“I need a drink,”
I yelled over the music, hoping to slip away from the situation. I would have
to find another guy to make Danger jealous with. This one clearly wanted to
fuck right in the middle of the dance floor.

The grip on my
wrist tightened. “You aren’t going anywhere. You can’t just get me excited then
walk away. Don’t be a stupid bitch.” He slipped his fingers underneath my skirt
and I gasped. I yanked myself back and tried to get away but he just laughed
and tightened his grip on me again.
