She had only had one orgasm with a man, and she had almost killed him in the process.

Tears welled up in her eyes. The look of terror on David’s face still haunted her, his screams as her power had surged out of control branded onto her brain. He had been such a sweet guy. But the night meant to be pleasurable seven years earlier had turned into a living terror when her fire powers exploded during orgasm. From that moment forward, she had only allowed herself to climax in private -- and alone. But Val would never understand.

“Do not threaten me, Gitana. Warriors don’t respond well to them.” She cried out when he held her more firmly and moaned as her body responded greedily to his groping hands. “Do not fear me.” The tenderness in his voice made her want to cry. “I would sooner cut out my heart than to ever harm you.”

“It is not you I fear. It is myself.” She hated the wariness in her voice. Her energy built up, and once again she struggled to break free. She didn’t want to hurt Val; he had already been hurt because of her.

She heard his curse, but he did not release her. It was almost laughable how easy he kept her in place. “Relax, v’amarita. I can feel your power building. Are you worried it will hurt me?”

Weakness was unacceptable. Nana had always said so. She certainly felt fragile in this man’s arms, desperately wanting to let go and have one moment of real pleasure with a man.

But she knew she would never have that.

Tears slid down her face, and anger boiled inside of her. It was bad enough to never understand where she was or why she had never had a real family. Knowing she would never have something as simple as an orgasm with a man she desired felt even worse. It was her fault for being weak and unable to control her abilities.

“Why would you think you would harm me?”

Gitana closed her eyes, not sure how to respond to that question. Her nipples were so hard they ached. Her pussy was wet; the only thought in her mind was what his cock would feel like buried deep inside of her.

“I can feel your need of me. It pains me to not appease you. Tell me why you fight me.”

He turned her onto her back and straddled her, forcing her to look him in the eye. “Do not make me force the answer I seek out of you. That is no way to begin our union.”

“What union? You don’t know anything about me, and you will never see me again after this is over.” She tried to look away from him, but his hand compelled her head to remain as it was. She had no choice but to look him in the eye.

“There is so much you have yet to understand. Come back to Mysk with me and see your friend Shana. We will sort all of this out. But first, I want to ease your need.”

Something told her that this warrior rarely apologized or admitted his faults. “It was not your fault that I responded so easily to your touch.” Her admission was met with a heated stare filled with a hunger equal to hers.

“I should have stopped. I knew it was no longer necessary when you began to awaken, but I was greedy and wanted to feel you cum. I have waited so long to possess you, a little longer should not destroy me.”

Possess her? What the hell did he think she was?

As soon as the power hummed in her hands, she released all the pent-up hostility straight toward Val.

He flew backward, slamming up against the cave wall. His enraged growl echoed off the chamber walls. Gitana knew there was no going back now. She threw a fireball, aiming it at his erection. She watched in fascination as he caught it and melted it easily.

She heard footsteps at the entryway of the cave and spun around to see his brothers.

Two of them burst into immediate laughter as he deflected the second fireball she threw.

“Do not make me restrain you. I do not wish to fight you.” Val yelled as he approached her yet again. He glared at his brothers. “Leave us! You are not needed.”

“Oh, brother, we aren’t about to miss this. You finally ticked off the wrong female.” Cal seemed to find humor in the oddest situations. “So, what did he say that pissed you off?”

“I said nothing. She merely attacked me.” He honestly saw nothing wrong with his statements.

“Possess me?” Gitana yelled angrily, launching another attack at him. Val cursed as he landed on his ass for the third time.

“I cannot allow you to continue this nonsense. You are expending too much energy and will only harm yourself.” He wasn’t fighting her. He wasn’t even trying to defend most of her attacks, choosing to only prevent those aimed at his groin.

She glared at Val. She sat down in the corner of the cave and created her shield. She wasn’t crazy enough to think that she could truly win against any one of these warriors, much less all of them. She knew the shocked and amused brothers would intervene at some point. It looked like his twin was willing to throttle her right now. “What is your name, warrior?”

“Van. And I have no problems putting you in line if my brother does not. Lower your shield now. We have wasted enough time on this dull planet. We must return home.”

“I will as soon as he apologizes. I am not a possession.” She could hear Cal and Jax cackling in laughter.

“Oh, this is the ultimate payback, brother. Your mouth has always gotten the best of you, but this truly must be the best yet.”

“Shut up, Cal. Now, will one of you please tell me what began this little battle so that we could perhaps reach a resolution?”

She would truly hate Dar if she ever had to spend too long around him. Did he ever get angry? She had already told them why she was upset. What more could they want?

“She was suffering and in need, and I tried to ease it. I clearly have offended her with my choice of words. She does not know our traditions nearly as well as Shana led us to believe.” Val began pacing around the small cave. Gitana could see his frustration, as his gaze slid to her corner.

“Fucking son of a bitch! Are you saying that they surge too? Shit, wait a minute. Do they surge like we do, or like the rest of our people?”

What was Jax talking about?

“I’m guessing by the level of remnant power in here that she surges like we do. How did that go?” Dar asked Val then looked over at her. Val glared at him and then his lustful gaze caressed her skin.

“I would not know because she began fighting me. I felt it building about the same moment she did. Once she felt it, her eyes grew wide and she began fighting me in earnest.

She was apparently afraid of harming me.”

She knew her face was bright red. Why would Val discuss such private matters with them, like she wasn’t even in the room?

“Our mother would be best to explain things to you when we return to Mysk,” Dar offered. “What you felt is normal. At least, it is normal for us. Val has balancing powers for your fire, Gitana. You would not harm him. He could take it easily, just as you will be able to handle him when he surges.”

She looked away, trying to understand what they were talking about without having to ask. Surging must have something to do with orgasms but perhaps more powerful, which would explain why what happened earlier had come as such a surprise to her. She looked over at Val. He had stopped pacing and was merely watching her. Why would he have his brother speak to her?

“Val is horrid at dealing with these sorts of things,” Dar said. “Do not be embarrassed, Gitana. We are all very close. But, given the circumstances, we must resolve everything Prince’s Fire

shortly. It is not safe for us to remain here, and Val refuses to leave without you.” Dar stooped to her level and lowered his voice. “Do not fear Val’s ability to handle whatever happens. He is one of the most powerful people around. He can handle whatever powers you possess.”

“It’s just the ones that deal with atmospheric energy that get out of control when I get excited.” She really hated admitting anything like this to a total stranger. She didn’t understand why she had just said that. It felt as if she was being encouraged to. Like a compulsion had made her respond. She glared at him accusingly.

“I’m sorry. It was necessary for me to give you an extra bit of help. We needed to know what was wrong. Your energy powers get out of control when you are stimulated? How out of control?”

She looked away, wishing she could crawl into the crevices of the cave. That power would be useful right now. She wasn’t going to talk about what had happened seven years ago. No way.

“Cal, a little help would be appreciated.”

“Hell no. I’m not getting around that walking electrical line. Get Jax to do it.”

“Leave me the fuck of out this, you ass! You know I’m younger than you by a few years. You have a better grasp on that power than I do.”

Gitana laughed when Cal swore and turned toward her. Before she could taunt him, Val touched the shield. It disappeared immediately.

Suddenly, she felt a dull ache in her head. She brought her hands up to her temples, massaging them. Cal’s presence invaded in her mind. It was like he was opening drawers until he found the one he was looking for. All she could do was stand there and take it.

“I fucking hate doing this shit, Gitana. Show me what I want, and I won’t have to see more than that. If you make me muddle around in here, I’m going to go searching for what I 28 Cara Carnes

really want to know -- what happened earlier before we arrived. Do you want me to do that?”

“No, please no.”

“Then relax, and let me see what I’m forced to view.”

Hot tears pooled down her cheeks. She felt so violated as she shared her memory of that night with Cal. The only thing that made her feel calmer was the pained expression on Val’s face. She could swear he was about to vomit he was so visibly upset.

She tried to fight sharing the pain and loneliness of the memory, but they were all intertwined. She saw herself consumed with sexual need and felt the orgasm flood her body.

She groaned as she vividly recollected the sequence of events. And then she saw David’s wide eyes.

She screamed just as she had that night. She wished Cal would sever the link. Her powers were building, and she didn’t want to hurt anyone. Jax approached. She fought his presence in her mind.

her power to control it.”

The serious tone told her the severity of her situation. She had yet to hear either one of them act serious. Something bad was going to happen.

“I will remain. We will not intrude on any othe

r memorie she has. Only this one.”

“I intend to discover the events of today.”

“No, brother. I will fight you on this here and now. She is far too scared and has pressed it far back into her mind trying to protect it from us. There mu

protecting it so. I saw a brief glimpse of it before she moved it back and all I heard was ‘the fate of worlds.’ The voice I heard uttering that phrase is one that I wish not to cross.”

A calming wind swept through her mind as a soft rhythm began. Like a heartbeat. It was hypnotic.

“Remain calm, Gitana. There is no need to use your powers this day or any other day.

None of us would ever harm you.”

As quickly as they entered her mind, they left it. Relief washed through her when the mental invasion subsided. Having her memories and private thoughts available to strangers was disconcerting, and the fact that they had done it frustrated her. The fact that someone even had that ability was terrifying.

She looked around the cave as Jax and Cal stepped back and sat on rocks beside the wall. It was obvious it had taken an enormous amount of strength to retrieve the information.

Val came over to her and brought her into his lap. She wanted to be very upset but could only cling to him as the calming sensation continued coursing through her body and mind. Whatever Jax had done, she had never felt this relaxed in her entire life.

She let her hands wander over Val’s massive chest, pulling the leather vest he wore aside so that she could touch his heated skin. She groaned as she faced him fully and wrapped her arms around his chest and let them roam freely on his back, lightly running her nails down it as she did.

“What the hell did you do to her?”

She wanted him to get rid of her brothers so she could finally satisfy her need. She had resisted it for far too long, and she was so relaxed she knew the time was right.

“I merely relaxed her a bit and took away her concerns for a couple of hours. It won’t last longer than that, so enjoy it while you can. You are on your own after that, brother.” Jax grinned. “And get that shocked look off of your face. I can refrain from the curse words when I want to.”

The brothers left the cave. Finally. She groaned into Val’s mouth as he wrapped her hair into his hand and brought her lips to his. He growled when he pulled her mouth away 30 Cara Carnes

from his. “There is only room for one person to be in control tonight, v’amarita. We have such a short amount of time, Gitana. I won’t be able to take the time I want to with you.”

She didn’t care about time; she wanted him buried deep inside of her. She grabbed at his leather pants, trying to figure out how to remove them. He seized her hands and pulled them above her head, lowering her slowly to the ground. With deft speed that defied reason, Val stripped them both.

It wasn’t nearly enough, but his body on top of hers would satisfy her for now. She writhed against his thigh and moaned as he played with her breasts, pinching her hardened nipples lightly.

“You are so ready for me, aren’t you? Your nipples are so hard. Do they ache for my mouth on them?”

“Yes, please, Val. Don’t make me wait any longer.” Gitana gasped when his fingers probed her moist slit.

“You are so wet. It’s going to feel good around my cock as I fuck you hard, isn’t it?”

Gitana moaned her response. She lost all desire to talk when his mouth captured her nipple. Hot one moment; ice cold the next. She gasped and clung to his arms, thrusting her body upward.
