“Where are we going?” Ennis asked again, annoying the security.

“Shut it, Ennis.”

They stopped and entered a room that was definitely not a holding cell. It was an armory with weapons. And their own weapons and ammunition were sitting on a table. “Why are we here?”

The Drastan with a bald head pointed to the weapons. “You did not complete your mission.”

“What do you mean?” Ennis asked.

But Leonard knew. “We can’t kill the girl now. We’re on board and have no way off. We’re surrounded by Drastans. If we kill the girl, we are dead men.”

“You’re dead men anyway.”

“Why not have Dusty do it? He was your contact, wasn’t he?”

“Too much security surrounding him. But the moment we have a chance, we’ll kill him.”

Ennis picked up a gun and loaded it with shaking hands. But Leonard still refused. “I’ll do it, but we need a way off this ship.”

The other security guard thought about it for a moment. “Agreed. We will leave a pre-programmed transport in the docking bay. All you have to do is enter the code 1-2-3 and it will take you down to Earth.”

“We’ll be seen and caught before we get there.”

The security guard walked over to a drawer and opened it. He pulled out two uniforms. “Wear these and those two helmets over there. No one will see that you are human.”

Ennis watched him and he gave a nod. “We’ll do it.”

“The woman Rachel and her sister Maggie are in the Great Commander’s family suite. You can follow us there but do not do anything until we are out of sight. Kill both of them.”

“How do we get to the docking bay?” Leonard started to put on his uniform.

“When leaving the suite, take a right and use the lift to the second level. You will see signs for the docking bay there. The transport number will be number nineteen. You will have twenty minutes to get to the transport before all exits from the command ship are shut down. We’ll step out in the hallway while you finish getting dressed and sort out your weapon. Don’t forget to put on the helmets.”

Ennis shook his head. “I can’t believe we’re going to do this.”

“We don’t have a choice.”

*****

The first security guard shook his head at the taller one. “Why are you giving them a way off?”

“They won’t escape. I will set explosives on the transport. As soon as they clear the command ship, it will detonate. Then there will be only one witness to testify against us. We’ll get to Dusty sooner or later.”

Chapter 20

Rachel sighed with relief. Finally, everyone had left. Everyone except her, Kyle and Maggie. It had been an intense room for a while. They discussed what was going on with the search for Quinn. Nothing was known yet but the leader of Dome 23 was being extremely helpful.

She and Kyle were in the kitchen, finishing the dinner that Maggie had started but had lost all energy to make. Maggie was lying on her side on the couch. Kyle was directing Rachel from his chair, teaching her how to cook using Drastan equipment. Everything heated much faster.

“Crap, I burned that.”

“No, no. It’s only a little burnt. It was your first time. You did much better than Maggie. She almost caught the kitchen on fire.”

“I heard that!” Maggie yelled from the couch. “It was a few small flames.”

Rachel looked Kyle, who motioned with his hands and mouth that it was a
huge
fire. Rachel giggled. She removed the burnt sides of the omelet and handed it to Kyle to taste.

“Yes, it is very, very good.”

“Pregnant lady over here is hungry!” Maggie called out.

“Well, pregnant lady in here has to make another batch, so just be patient!”

Kyle laughed at their antics. Maggie had been pulling the
pregnant lady
card for a while to get her way. Now she and Rachel were almost canceling each other out. It was hilarious.

The doorbell to the suite rang, surprising all of them. They weren’t expecting anyone.

“I’ll get it,” Maggie said, as she pulled herself to a standing position.

“Wait, Maggie!” Kyle turned his chair as fast as he could. By the time he came up behind Maggie, she had partially opened the door. Rachel grabbed what was in her hand and took it with her. Her heart began racing when she heard Maggie’s words.

“You guys aren’t our regular guards,” Maggie said and tried to close the door back.

One of the men pushed the door, shoving it open, and came inside. He grabbed Maggie’s arm and began fighting with her as she tried to shove him away.

Another man came inside, but neither of them saw Kyle. Kyle leaped up from his chair and tackled the second man, knocking him to the ground. He began pummeling him in the face.

Rachel ran over to help Maggie and called loudly out the door. “Security breach in the Great Commander’s suite!”

The automated computer system activated the alarm system. Lights flashed on and off and a loud beeping sound echoed through the whole ship. The computer repeated what Rachel had called out, and then notified her that security was on its way.

Maggie took her open palm and slammed it up at Ennis’s nose, causing him to release her as he cried out in pain. Rachel came up behind him and swung at his head with the frying pan that she had been holding. She hit him squarely in the forehead, causing a bright red mark to appear, and he fell over onto the floor, unconscious.

Rachel looked at her sister. “Are you okay?”

“Yes.” She was breathing hard.

“Go to your bedroom and lock the door. Use the security code Liam gave you and no one will get in unless they are family.”

“I can’t leave you here.”

“I’ll help Kyle. Think of the baby. You need to go
now
!” She shoved her sister down the hallway. She waited until she heard Maggie lock the door. Then she headed back to help Kyle.

She wasn’t sure what to do. Leonard had had a gun when he came inside the suite but Kyle had knocked it out of his hand when he jumped on him. Normally, Leonard would have been no match for Kyle, but Kyle’s injuries were impacting his ability to fight.

Her breath caught when she saw Leonard grab his gun and aim it toward Kyle. Rachel had to do something. She leaped at Leonard, trying to grab the gun. It flew out of his hands and Kyle quickly reached for it. Leonard shoved Rachel out of the way and made a move toward the door to escape, but Kyle raised the weapon and fired. Leonard was hit in the head and fell dead to the ground.

Kyle turned to look at her. “Are you okay? Maggie?”

“We’re fine. I made Maggie lock herself in her bedroom. We took Ennis down over there. He’s still alive, but he’s going to have quite a headache. Are you okay?” She approached him and noticed his legs were starting to wobble.

“I was on pure adrenaline, but it’s starting to fade, and so are my legs.”

She rushed forward and caught him around his waist. He was too heavy for her to lift, so they both ended up stumbling to the floor.

“I was scared,” she admitted to him.

“I was too. I saw them grab Maggie and I knew I had to get to her.”

“You did great. You’re definitely my hero.”

It all became a whirlwind as security rushed into secure the area. The guards took Ennis into custody again, but there was nothing they could do for Leonard.

The commander and her father showed up too. They looked at the dead body and at Ennis’s swaying figure, as he was half-carried out of the room.

Her father was frantic. “Are you okay? Where’s Maggie?”

“We’re all fine. Maggie is in her bedroom. I told her to stay until family came.” She got up and went down the hall. Seconds later, she returned, with Maggie hugging her. Her father was relieved and went to hug and kiss both them.

The commander looked surprised at the two downed men. He bent to help Kyle up to his chair. “Did you take both of them out in your condition?”

Kyle shook his head. “I fought the dead one and ended up having to shoot him or be shot. Maggie and Rachel handled the other guy.”

Her father looked around as he ran a hand through his hair. “How did you guys take him down?”

Maggie straightened her shoulders. “I threw my palm up at his nose and broke it. Then Rachel hit him in the forehead and knocked him unconscious.”

Her father grinned at his daughters. Clearly, he felt proud of them. “What did you use to knock him unconscious, Rachel?”

“My frying pan.”

Everyone laughed. Rachel looked insulted. “Hey, it worked. I may not be the best cook, but I can hit hard when I have to.”

The lieutenant colonel walked around the disheveled room. “I don’t get it. How did these two get out of lock-up? Not only that, but they got hold of weapons and Drastan uniforms.”

The room went quiet. The commander reached for his communicator. “This is Great Commander Estro. I need a private line to Chief of Visuals.” He waited a second, and then spoke again. “I want the visual feed check on holding cells, the weapons room, and the hallway outside my suite for the past hour. Have the visuals ready with secure access and sent to my personal computer.” He ended his transmission.

Kyle shook his head. “We need to have more security guarding the two remaining prisoners. Whoever the traitor or traitors are, they won’t want to leave anyone alive.”

“I’m going to my ready room to review the visuals. Did you want to come with me?” He asked the lieutenant colonel.

“Yes, I need to do something. I feel helpless. But what about the girls?”

“I’ve got security that will be in the hallway and in the suite. These are guards who are completely loyal.”

Maggie sat on the couch. “What happened to the guards that Liam assigned to guard the door?”

“They were knocked unconscious and drug around the corner. They are headed to medical to be checked over thoroughly. I gave them the next shift off to rest.” The commander motioned for the lieutenant colonel to follow him.

“Fuck,” Kyle grunted, as he moved his chair over to the couch.

“What is it?” Rachel asked with concern.

“Somebody’s got to tell Liam about the attack. He’s going to be pissed.”

Maggie laughed. “Don’t worry. Tell him I took care of things.”

“That’s what is going to piss him off the most.”

Chapter 21

Five days later

It had taken less than two hours for the commander to review the visuals. He had not been pleased with the results. The Drastan warriors knew exactly where the cameras were so they always had their faces turned away. Something drastic was needed.

Rachel sat with Kyle and her sister in the living room of their suite. They had a monitor on and were watching a digital transmission being aired on the Drastan ships, all throughout Earth’s domes, and within the subway areas that received video feeds. The video showed her father and the commander standing side by side. Both had very serious expressions on their faces. The commander spoke first.

“Attempts to kidnap and kill humans involved with Drastans were recently discovered and thwarted. Those behind these attempts have betrayed their own governments. As the Great Commander of the Drastan fleet, I am issuing a Galactic Law. Anyone who attempts to injure a human or a Drastan outside of self-defense will be brought in by a special task force for judgment. The penalty will depend on the severity of the crime, and the maximum penalty is death.”

Her father stepped forward to speak. “With the authority of all heads of Earth’s governments, we back this Galactic Law. We will be participating in the task force as a joint effort.”

She knew the transmission would be met with mixed feelings. But, hopefully, the threat of the maximum punishment would be enough deterrent to prevent any future attempts. Kyle had asked to lead the task force and was waiting for a final answer from the commander.

Rachel wasn’t sure how she felt about Kyle’s involvement with the task force. He would be put in danger every time he was called to go after those lawbreakers. But since the task force was on-call it would allow Kyle more time to be with her and the baby.

They hadn’t found the Drastan betrayers yet, but at least Liam had found Quinn, although he was in bad shape. Jared was looking over Quinn’s recovery. He thought that Quinn’s slow recovery was due to a type of poisoning. He had to figure out what poison was used before he could find a proper treatment.

Her parents were back at their dome. They would visit again when Kyle and Rachel had their ceremony. She wanted Quinn to recover first. Her father still wasn’t thrilled about their union, but he accepted that she had made her choice. She had no regrets.

“You are in deep thought. Are you worried over my request to be part of the task force?”

“I am worried, but you will be great at leading it. Just promise me when they call you out that you take precautions.”

He took her in his arms and kissed her. “I have everything to live for so I am going to be super careful. I won’t be by myself, either. Liam has also asked to work on the task force part-time so that he can spend time with Maggie and the baby.”

She wrapped her arms around his neck and their bodies swayed together. “I didn’t know Drastans danced.”

“Oh, we do a lot of things that you don’t know about.”

“Really? Like what?”

“We are really good at walking backwards.” He took her hands and began walking backward toward his bedroom, pulling her arms to get her to follow him.

She giggled. “Where do you think you are taking me?”

“I still want to make love to you in a bed. Now that I have my legs and the rest of me in working order, I want to work you.”

“Kyle…” He lifted her in his arms and carried her the rest of the way to his bed. He dropped her into the center of it, letting her bounce with the impact. He walked away.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m making sure that the door is locked properly. The old one was replaced with a security door like Liam’s. It would take a nuclear blast to open that door.”

She laughed as she got to her knees. She pulled her dress up her body and threw it to the floor. She wanted nothing between them so she quickly removed her bra and underwear, and then reclined on the bed to wait for him. He returned, then paused as he undressed and looked at her.

“Is something wrong?”

“No, everything is exactly right.” He kicked off his boots and shoved his pants down his legs. He ripped his shirt off and buttons flew to the floor.

He leaped onto the bed, making her bounce again. She laughed. “You nutball.” She playfully shoved his shoulders.

“I’m your nutball.”

“True.” Her laughter transformed into a wide warm smile. “You are amazing.”

“No, you are.” He trailed a finger down her chest between her breasts. He cupped her left breast in his hand and smiled. “You amaze me every day. I can’t wait until these swell with milk for our child. He or she will feed from here.” He leaned down and sucked her breasts. He applied pressure, which sent a zing of pleasure through her whole body, straight to her pussy.

He kissed his way down her flat stomach and hovered there. “Our child will grow here and I look forward to seeing the daily changes in your body.”

“I will be as big as a house like Maggie, and will have to waddle around everywhere.”

“You will be even more beautiful. I will worship every inch of you.” He kissed her stomach before moving on. He shifted his body until he was hovered above her mound. He blew warm air over her short dark blonde curls. This is where it all began. And this will be where our child will come into the world. He kissed her mound softly.

“Kyle, you don’t have to...you know. I’m already ready for you.”

“Are you? Let me see.” He spread her thighs, opening her up to his view. She watched as he closed his eyes and inhaled her scent. It was strange to see, but the Drastans had keener senses than humans. Their sense of smell was more enhanced. Curiosity got to her.

“What do I smell like?”

She opened his eyes slowly and gave her a devastating smile. “Like mine. You smile like mine.” Then he bent his head and plunged his tongue deep inside her. No playing or teasing. He went straight for the gold.

“Oh God.” She reached down and took hold of his dark hair, keeping him right where he was. His tongue was fucking her, deeply and thoroughly. It was the most wicked and the most delicious feeling in the world to have a man tasting her, eating her, devouring her like that.

Sparks of desire shot through her and she arched her hips, giving him more to taste. She felt like she was being round up tight and then all of a sudden, she let go and she was flung out far and wide. Ripples of pleasure moved through her as he climbed up her body.

His lips claimed hers at the same time that he plunged his cock deep inside her. She couldn’t help it. The feeling of suddenly being filled while still reeling from the effects of the last orgasm sent her off and she climaxed again.

“Damn, you feel so good. I don’t ever want to leave you.”

“Kyle...” She exhaled as he began to move in and out of her. Was it possible to have three in a row? She felt the tightness building again inside. Each move of his shaft in and out brought her closer and closer to the edge. Then, in one blinding, screaming moment, they both reached their peak and called out their release. They clung to each other as they both came back from the stars. Kyle turned them to their sides and held her against his chest.

“I love you, Rachel, with everything I am.”

“I love you, Kyle, with everything I am.”
