He quickly switched the position by allowing her to roll over him. He grabbed her by the waist and helped her bounce off his stiff penis that seemed to have perpetual energy for erection. She sank her fingernails right inside his chest, then dragged her fingers down, knowing that his wound would heal very quickly, and it did. She began moaning intensely, but not Adrian. He was concentrating on her completely. He was noticing every movement of her body. It was easy for him to play everything by slow motion. He could see things happening in nano-seconds. He could hear her panting, watch sweat slide down her skin, and enjoy her fine, bouncing breasts. He could feel her approaching her orgasm and increased the intensity of his movements.  As she climaxed his fangs grew longer.

He knew the next decision he was going to make was going to affect both their lives.

Chapter 9: The Visitor

Adrian cuddled Cindy and kissed her a couple of times on the neck, trying not to wake her up from her beauty sleep. He could feel the transformation he had been through. The cold hearted and ruthless vampire had now turned into a warm-hearted lover. He touched Cindy’s golden locks, and even brushed them with his long fingers. Cindy was fast asleep. She needed that after what she had been through.

Adrian felt the hair on the back of his neck rise and he could sense someone’s presence. He slowly slipped out of his bed and put on his robe. He walked out of the bedroom and towards the great hall. Inaudible footsteps were getting closer and closer. He could hear the person with his heightened senses. It wasn’t just human, because that person’s movement was leaving strange energies in the air, dark energy.

As he reached the great hall the sound of the movement suddenly stopped. He was ready for whatever it was.

There was a slow tap, like a dying heartbeat. He looked up to find Ms. Biel, his mother and maker, standing right in front of him, with a gloomy look on her face.

“Adrian,” she said gently, “I’m sorry for what I said last night.”

“It’s alright,” he answered, and stepped aside, as a gesture for her to walk in.

She walked into his place and began to observe it very carefully. She was sensing heat, in attempt to find the girl he had brought in.

“Are you looking for something mother?” he inquired hastily.

“Where’s the girl?” she questioned.

“Mom, I thought we were good.”

“I told you not to call me your mother, it’d give way to a lot of complications,” she complained.

“Okay, Ms. Biel. I want you to get out of my house right now.”

“Son, I’m doing this for you. I’m the head of the council. I’m the one who makes decisions. I don’t want anybody to know that I’m favoring you because you’re my son,” she spoke in a Romanian accent this time.

“I thought we were good, Ms. Biel, mom, or whatever you like to be called, I thought that you were okay with my decision, so that’s why you came here to make amends, but you’re here to find the girl, right? You’re here to deal with the business you left unfinished the other night?”

“Listen to me… you committed a murder, alright? How do you expect me to sleep with that, after all I’m head of the council and your mother too?”

“So you’re here to charge me with murder? What about the murders we commit every day, killing limitless human lives to keep our own dead hearts ticking. Why aren’t we accountable for those murders?”

“This is the way we are Adrian, this is our biological makeup, and the sooner you learn to accept it, the easier for you it will be, to live life as the prince of darkness and do whatever you want. But, even we creatures are accountable, for one crime only, that is murdering your own kind. Of all crimes, you chose to murder one of your own kind, without fearing the consequences?”

“He got what he deserved. He had it coming the moment he jumped on Cindy. I tried to warn everybody and him twice, but he was too blind to see that. So I had to end it that instance. I couldn’t let anyone harm that girl.”

“So now you’re telling me that you’re in love with that girl right?” she sat on a nice comfy sofa that was placed in the hall, and reached for the bottle of whisky that was placed on the table. She poured a glass for herself and slipped it down her throat,” she smiled, “you’re still into Maker’s Mark?”

“Mom, I’m asking you for the very last time. Leave. Please,” he almost pleaded.

“Or what?” she crushed the glass in her fragile old hands and slowly flew a couple of feet in the air, “are you gonna kill me the way you did the other night? Do you have the balls on you to kill your own goddamn mother Adrian? I fucking kept you in me for nine months. I raised you. You were nothing. I fed you my milk. Now, that you’re such a fucking strong vampire, you’re ready to cast aside your mother and her century’s old love, for what? For a girl, who you barely know? A girl with whom you felt this intimacy for less than twenty-four hours?”

“Mom, you were never there for me. You gave me birth but then you abandoned me. I didn’t know shit. Dad was chased out of Romania. You only turned me because you were bored. You always had this lust for power in you. It was dad’s mission to unite every vampire around the world, not so that we could kill human beings, so that we could protect our own kind by finding alternate methods of survival. You just took over the council that dad left, and you’re leading it for the last three hundred years, doing what you please. This is not going to work. You have to step back or I’ll forget that I’m your son.”

“Son, do you think they would have let me run the council if I had held on to my motherly emotions for you. I had to be strong. Women had no stature back in those times. Even among vampires. So I had to prove that I was worth that seat. I had huge boots to fill, so I had to leave you, but it was for the better good son.”

“I don’t believe a single word you said. You’re just a power hungry woman, who wants nobody to question her leadership, that’s why you’re here, that’s why you want to kill this innocent human girl, who hasn’t even lived long enough to see what the world is like.”

“The world is shitty enough boy, I’m just here to end her misery before she cuts her own throat.” she cupped her hands, closed her eyes, and started chanting something very slowly. Before Adrian could move her icy hands clenched deep in Adrian’s throat. He fell down unconscious.

“Now let’s find you.” She smiled, raised her eyebrows, and started looking for Cindy in the house. It did not take her long to figure out where she would be.

Chapter 10: The Betrayal

Ms. Biel sensed Cindy’s body heat, and went straight to the bedroom. Adrian was lying unconscious on the floor. She just walked right through the door, to find Cindy tangled up in her sheets, naked. She walked toward her with light footsteps and sat beside her, at the edge of the bed, examining her body.

“I guess my son has a good taste,” she gasped. She lifted her hand up and with that movement; Cindy rose up in the air, a few feet above the bed. The sheets slipped over her body, revealing her nakedness. “I thought you’re just a kid, but you have a woman’s body. What a waste.”

Ms. Biel closed her fist. It felt as if an invisible hand was choking Cindy. Cindy awoke in horror to see Ms. Biel’s face.

“Good bye, Cindy. You were a good housecleaner. I didn’t want things to end like this, but… I’m sorry.” Before she could twist her wrist, a hand pierced through her chest, holding out her dead unbeating heart, drenched in icy-cold blood. Ms. Biel’s hold over Cindy was over. Cindy collapsed back onto the bed.

It was Adrian’s hand. He quickly drew his hand out of Ms. Biel. Ms. Biel had enough strength left in her, to look back at the person who took away her life in seconds. Her reign as the vampire queen was over. She was surprised to see that it was Adrian, standing right behind him, holding her heart.

She touched her fair long face with her cold lifeless hands. “I love you, Adrian,” she said in an almost inaudible voice that was low and shaky.

“I’m sorry mom,” he cried. He felt her heart turn into black dust. “I love you too, but I know you killed my father and your reign has to end,” he cried once again. He wrapped his arms around her.

“Son, your bloodline is pure, so I wanted to protect you. You have royal blood in you, and you get to be the King of all the vampires in the world,” those were her last words. Her body turned into dust.

Adrian knelt down on the floor and started to dig the dust, out of frustration, hoping to revive his mother once again, but it was too late. He had made his choice. Only time could tell whether he made the right decision or not, but he had to do that, because Cindy’s life was at stake. He had to do that to finally honor his father’s death.

Cindy became conscious again, and in horror realized what had just happened.

“Adrian, I am sorry.”

She got up and wrapped a sheet around herself. Then she sat beside Adrian, and hugged him as tightly as she could.

“It’s my fault,” she said, “I wish I hadn’t come to the party.”

“No, it’s not. I asked mom a number of times, that it didn’t have to be this way, but she was so blinded by power that she couldn’t get a hold on her burning rage, which eventually got her killed.”

They sat on the floor for a while and then slept tangled in each other’s arms.

“Cindy,” he said, “I would like you to live here in the Hamptons with me. I want a life with you in it.”

Chapter 11: New Beginning

After a month, Adrian became the head of the vampire council. Not because he was the son of Ms. Biel, but because he was the strongest, wealthiest, and wisest vampire around to make decisions for the various vampire communities around the world. He carried on from where his father left.

He stood on the balcony of his mansion and stared out at the calm waters of the Atlantic that silhouetted the full moon. Cindy walked toward him, naked, holding a couple of champagne glasses in her hands. Adrian turned to look at her, and grabbed her from the waist. The glasses in her hand fell down and broke.

He started kissing her everywhere. “I wanna make love to you,” he said, as he tore off his clothes. “I wanna make you mine forever.”

“This is what I want Adrian,” she ripped his pants off.

He pressed her breasts with both his hands and kissed her belly, while kneeling down on the floor. Cindy grabbed him from his long blonde hair and pulled him up. He pushed her against his chest and asked in a seductive voice. “Let me ask you one last time, are you ready to be my vampire bride? Because if you say yes, then you’ll no longer be a human, you’ll be much more than that, and for survival you’ll be needing blood.”

“Do you drink human blood?” she inquired anxiously.

“I used to drink human blood,”

“So how do you get to survive without it then?”

“There are so many ways to survive, but all we need is a little love and commitment. If we promise to be truthful to each other forever then I believe that our life will be so much easier.”

“What are the alternate ways to survive?”

“We could feed on blood bags and animals,”

“Sounds fair enough to me,” she kissed him on the lips, “make me yours forever then.”

“Okay, now I want you to hold me tight, because it’s going to sting a little,” he said, “Is this your first time?”

“Of course it is, I don’t run into sexy vampires every day,” she giggled.

She wrapped her arms around him as tightly as she could. Adrian brushed her long hair away from her neck, and began to kiss it. His fangs clicked down and he sank them into her tender neck. Cindy felt a little pain, but mostly intense pleasure. He sucked from her. Then he drew his fangs out and bit his own wrist. “Drink,” he said with a sweet smile on his face. Cindy took a deep breath and drank from his wrist.

Her pulse dropped, and her heartbeat slowed down. In a moment, she was unconscious. Adrian picked up her in his arms, and took her right to bed, and waited for her vampire queen to wake up when the time was right. And that was how Vamperella, queen of the vampires, was born.

Shiftr Book 2

To be honest, Blake Miles intimidated Arthur. Even through the photo, he exuded an air of confidence. Arthur could imagine him leading an army into battle in the old-fashioned knights-riding-on-horses style, waving his sword in the air as he gave a rousing speech…or something like that. He could also imagine him in a bar, sauntering cockily up to someone who caught his brilliant, mysterious eye, buying them a drink and taking them home effortlessly. What on earth was someone like this doing on a dating app? There was no way he couldn’t get whoever he wanted just by looking at them.

Arthur scrolled down the profile. There was no more information about the guy aside from the “Alpha” label in his sidebar. So this guy was an Alpha Shifter, but what kind of Shifter? Talk about mysterious. There was nothing at all that Arthur could deduce about Blake Miles from his profile. Surely this was a red flag.

But damnit, Arthur was curious. He was so curious that he could hardly contain himself. And he wasn’t going to try to, really. Not much, anyway.

Arthur reversed to the message page and stared, for a few seconds, at the “Hi” that stared back at him. Then, he took a deep breath, typed a greeting back, and hit “send”.

Two seconds, and then the dull grey circle next to Blake’s name that indicated his offline status turned green. Arthur’s heart jumped slightly, and its beat began to accelerate within his ribcage. Quickly, he shook himself and adamantly put down his phone.

“This is ridiculous,” he muttered to himself. He didn’t know this Blake Miles person. He could be using a stolen picture, or it could be edited, or maybe he was a creep or murderer or something like that. And he was just one of many interested Alphas. He shouldn’t be special or different.

But he was. Different, at least. Somehow.

Another notification sound, and Arthur’s fingers practically leaped for his phone to see if Blake Miles had replied. He quickly calmed himself down, chastising his enthusiasm, and waited until his pulse had slowed down significantly before reading the response.

It read: “What’s up?”

Arthur’s heart was pounding again, and no amount of slow, deep breathing could bring it down to a more relaxed state. He tried, in vain, to regulate his breathing, but it was apparent that his respiratory system had a mind of its own.

Enough calming down – Arthur had to focus on sending a coherent response to this Miles guy. Shaking himself, he typed back, “Nm, u?” and pressed send. A second later, he was already berating himself. Nothing much? Really, Arthur? How could he say nothing was up? He sounded boring and predictable and completely uncaring. There was no way Blake Miles was going to message back now.

That notification sounded again. “In my room, watching TV.”

Arthur breathed a huge sigh of relief. Okay, so he hadn’t completely ruined his chances, but he had to be more careful from here on out. “Cool, what’s on?” he typed.

“Some show about the military.”

“Any good?”

“No, it’s all wrong.”

“What do you mean?”

“Military isn’t like this.”

Arthur’s heart was still hammering in his chest. “You would know?” he typed.

“Used to be in the army,” replied Blake.

That would explain the muscle, Arthur supposed. But then again, he still had no idea if this guy was for real. Before he could think of something to say, Blake had sent another message.

“What are you into?”

Here it was. The quintessential proof that Shiftr was a hook-up app. Blake Miles, sexy Alpha bastard, was asking about Arthur’s fetishes. That’s what it seemed like, at least. Maybe Arthur could play innocent and pretend he misunderstood and talk about the latest video game he was into. But Arthur didn’t want to come off as a virginal, naïve nut either. He needed to strike the balance between oblivious and aware.

“Like sex?” Arthur typed. It took three whole seconds for him to realise how stupid that must have sounded. Surely Blake Miles was going to write him off now.

But he still replied. “Sure, if you want. But I meant hobbies and shit.”

Arthur wasn’t sure whether to be relieved or ashamed of himself. Either way, his face was suddenly flushing very, very red.

Blake had sent another text. “Let’s start with the hobbies. We can move to other things later.”

Arthur smiled, half-grateful that Blake Miles didn’t completely hate him yet. There were butterflies fluttering from Arthur’s pounding heart and settling in his stomach. He had no idea where this was going, but he sure as hell wanted to find out, preferably as soon as possible. “Deal.”

The forest was silent apart from the careful, soft treading of Arthur’s paws on the snowy ground beneath him. With each step, he seemed to sink deeper into the ground, his dark brown fur the only insulation he was able to garner as snow closed in around him like a frozen blanket. The snow only further dampened any sounds that may have been heard, and Arthur was tense, on edge, coiled like a spring bursting with potential energy.

A sharp growl came from somewhere behind him, and Arthur spun his head around harshly, baring his sharp teeth as a growl of his own broke through his throat. There were only thick trees behind him, and not a silhouette could be made out.

Another snarl sounded, this time from Arthur’s left. He immediately tensed further, his eyes flicking between the two sound sources, and then there was a third snarl from his right. Arthur backed up, making noises of warning as he unsteadily attempted to solidly ground himself.

Three Bears burst suddenly from the dense forest trees and bounded straight towards him. Arthur roared in defiance and raised himself up on his hind legs, ready to claw and bite and fight to the death, but the bears were now running past him and barely paying him any attention. He turned to see where they were rushing towards, and he saw a cave at the end of the path. Its entrance was completely dark and impossible to see into, but these Bears seemed adamant on attacking it.

A sudden protective urge overcame him. He didn’t know what it was, but there was something in that cave, something precious, something valuable, something he would die to keep safe. His feral instincts took over, and he bounded after the three Bears, jaw snapping and throat straining as he roared in pure, unfiltered anger, but he was too far behind by now to catch up to them. Panic was overwhelming his brain, making his head spin and the dizziness fogged up his vision, making it hard to see –

And then a giant Grizzly Bear appeared at the entrance of the cave, let out a tremendous, thunderous roar, and snapped his teeth at the closest enemy. Arthur’s breathing was frantic, and he knew that even a Bear that strong wouldn’t be able to survive being outnumbered, and he called out desperately, “Don’t hurt him! Don’t hurt him! Don’t –”

“Arthur! Arthur, hey!”

Arthur jerked awake. A cold sweat was breaking out over his forehead, and his throat felt sore, like he’d been screaming. Jeb was standing over him, frowning.

“What the fuck happened?” Jeb asked.

Arthur sat up. He felt simultaneously hot and cold all over. “I… I don’t know,” he said.

“Dude, you were roaring in your sleep,” Jeb said.

“Moaning, you mean?” Arthur asked.

“No, dude, you were fucking roaring like you were ‘bout to go full Grizzly!” Jeb exclaimed.  “Bears probably heard you for miles, man!”

Arthur rolled himself off the bed and onto the floor. He felt sick and nauseous, and his stomach was turning like it was doing a barrel roll. “Was it that bad?”

“I wasn’t even in the room, I was on the other side of the dorms, and I could hear it – it was like a fucking explosion,” Jeb replied.

“You were in a girl’s dorm again?” Arthur groaned.

“That isn’t the point, man,” Jeb snapped. “Anyone could’ve heard you. Your mom’s probably on a flight right now trying to see what fight you’re getting yourself into.”

“It can’t have been that loud.”

“It was,” Jeb replied. “You good now, though?”

“Yeah, I think so,” Arthur moaned. It had been the third day in a row that he’d had that same nightmare, but this was the first time his body had reacted to imitate what he had seen. “What time is it?”

Jeb shrugged, so Arthur reached over for his phone, which had been sitting on the bedside table. It read 3:25am, and there were twelve notifications from Shiftr. He opened the app and sifted through the rubble. Ten notifications from lonely strangers who wanted a late-night booty call, and two from Blake Miles.

Jeb was speaking again, but Arthur’s heart was pounding so loudly that it was resonating through his ears and was all he could hear.

Two messages: “Hi.” Then, “You up? Wanna talk?”

Arthur and the ever-elusive Blake Miles had spoken for three days in a row, often late into the night. He still hadn’t found out much about the man, aside from the fact that he’d been in the military, seemed to watch a lot of TV, and refused to reveal his Shifter identity. But from what Arthur could tell, he had the personality of a hardened but lively soul; a person who’d seen trouble but wanted more of it, if not craved it.

“I’m up,” Arthur replied. He considered, then added, “Had a nightmare.”

“Helloooo,” Jeb said.

Arthur snapped his head up to look at him. “Huh?”

“You sure you’re going to be okay?” Jeb asked, an eyebrow raised. “You’re awfully preoccupied.”

“Oh.” Arthur blushed and quickly looked back down at his phone to hide it. “There’s this guy I met on that stupid app you told me about.”

“Already?” Jeb said, grinning. “An Alpha Bear?”

Arthur shrugged. “Well, he’s an Alpha…”

Jeb’s smile had altered into a frown. “Wait, you don’t know what kind of Shifter he is? But –”

Realising how bad it sounded, Arthur quickly interjected, “He just likes keeping mystery. He’s not a bad person, he just doesn’t think technicalities should get in the way.”

Jeb’s eyebrows were raised so high that they were in danger of disappearing in his messy hair. “This guy sounds like bad news to me.”

Arthur’s heart sank. Even he knew that some of the things Blake Miles was doing just didn’t add up, but he couldn’t help it. He liked Blake. He liked Blake a lot. And maybe this was going to end badly, and maybe Blake Miles wasn’t real, but there was something about him, something different, something out of the ordinary, and Arthur wasn’t going to stop until he figured out what it was.

It was a Wednesday when he got the message from Blake Miles. Arthur honestly didn’t know why he was so surprised. Surely he and Blake didn’t want to keep this veiled flirting strictly virtual. Surely this was bound to happen at some point, but it didn’t stop Arthur from nearly dying from a heart attack when the message came in.

“Wanna meet?”

There was no way that Arthur was going to agree to this. He didn’t know this person, and knew nothing about him save his name (which could be fake), how he looked (which might be edited), and that he had been in the military (which may have been a ruse). Even worse, what if Blake Miles was just a horny Alpha taking advantage of lonely Omegas? What if he wanted a one night stand and would leave the minute it was over? Arthur could not be sure that he could trust this man, and it would be incredibly stupid of him to agree.

The message, “Wanna meet?” hung in the air above Arthur as he stared at his phone, running through all the reasons he should say no.

He typed a message out and hit send.

“Yeah.”

Soft, warm, gentle, touch, taste, feel.
