Fred aged 17, on his motorbike with his youngest brother Doug and sisters Daisy, Kitty and Gwen in the
garden at Moorcroft cottage.

25 Midland Road. This was home to young teenager Rose and her own little family, and where she was already working as a prostitute.

Picture taken in the summer of 1971, just after Fred’s release from prison. Rose is 17 and has already murdered her first
victim, 8-year old Charmaine.

Sisters Charmaine aged 7, and Anna-Marie West aged 6 – Fred’s children from his marriage to Rena Costello – and Rose and Fred’s
first child together, baby Heather. Of the three children, only Anna-Marie would survive.

Rose and Fred married in January 1972. Although Fred put ‘bachelor’ on the certificate, he had not divorced Rena.

Catherine (Rena) Costello, Fred’s first wife, murdered sometime after Charmaine disappeared.

Rose aged 19, with her first son, Stephen West, who was born in August 1973. She had killed twice by this time and in a matter
of weeks after this picture was taken, would become a serial killer.

25 Cromwell Street, which Rose and Fred become the proud owners of.
