Sex Me Up

arms, and braced her against his chest. She watched the flex of Dare’s back as he steadily moved away from her, from them. “Why do you turn your back on me? What could be so horrible that you can’t look me in the eye when you tell me?”

A wave of rage washed over her and she knew it came from Dare, knew he didn’t like the fact she’d called him on his cowardice. Good. Let him be mad, maybe then she’d get some straight answers.

I suggest you don’t try my temper, natoya. I won’t
be as lenient in your punishment as I was earlier.
Go to hell, Dare.

Outraged, hurt, and disillusioned, Jaynee shrugged out of Lucan’s arms and ran out of the kitchen. They’d expect her to hide in her room, to lock herself away in familiar surroundings. They didn’t know her at all.

She couldn’t bear to be in the same room—the same building—as the two men who claimed to want to share their lives with her. If they couldn’t share the truth, couldn’t be honest with her, then there was nothing more for her to hope for. Their relationship was over before it ever really began. With tears blinding her, and the aching loss and despair driving her on, she raced away from her store, from her home, and from the missing part of her heart, her soul.

She ran as far and as fast as she could, blindly running to a place where she knew she would be alone. A place where she knew she could find solace. She reached the square in record time. Usually she walked to the square, she didn’t run, until now. She sat on the bench and contemplated what Dare said.

Could she just pick up and leave? She didn’t know either of those men. Not really. What about her home, her shop? And what would happen if things didn’t work out between them? She would have nowhere to go, nothing to do.

She wiped her damp hands on her legs. Such a decision couldn’t be made in day. It was unfair for him to think she could do so. Something this huge, took months to decide. Yet, according to Dare, she no longer had months. She had days to make such a momentous decision. Days spent aboard a stranger’s ship, living by his people’s rules and laws. What if she made the worst decision of her life?

Jaynee rested her head in her hands and finally gave in to the urge to cry. A life without Dare, Lucan and children, or facing the unknown with two men she barely knew. What kind of choice was that?

She felt two people sit down next to her on the bench. Knew without looking who had joined her. Besides, she knew Dare’s and Luc’s scents already. 56
