Lucan’s rumbling purr interrupted the tense silence as they waited for her to make her decision.

Yes, they’d only known each other a very short time, and had no courting to speak of, but he knew, as Lucan knew, they were a part of each other, and nothing would change that. When he thought she’d refuse out of sheer stubbornness, she heaved a shuddering breath then nodded her acquiescence. Joy winged its way through his heart. Beneath her, Lucan’s throaty purr announced his own happiness with her agreement.

And love her they did. For three days and nights until they reached
Savar
, Dare and Lucan did their best to see that her every waking desire was seen to, from making sure her favorite foods were available to quenching her body’s demands to mate.

It was up to Jaynee whether or not she fulfilled her promise to them, and they could only hope they’d earned her trust, her belief in them. Giant trees loomed over her head. They were so tall, it made her dizzy when she craned her neck to see the tops. The large leaves were a vibrant shade of purple. As big as her hand, they resembled those pressed between the pages of the spell-book she’d found. Oak, though the color was something she’d never before seen. The author of the book wrote in her own hand that the tree was called oak. This must be a hybrid of those Earthen trees.

It seemed strange to find this world so much like her own, yet still so foreign. She bit her lip, still trying to overcome her silent rage at being brought here against her will. Still she promised to 70
