Chapter 4

Liam was still behind her when she
woke the next morning. His grip on her had not changed. It almost felt like he
was preventing her escape but where would she go? His erection was pressed solidly
into her backside and she tried to ease away from him but only succeeded in
rubbing against him. It grew and her eyes widened, her only hope was that he
was still asleep. He wasn’t she realized when his lips trailed light kisses
along her neck. It felt incredible. Tiny electric tingles raced along her skin
where his lips had been. It was still dark and that offered her a little
privacy for her reactions.

His hands molded to her through her
thermals and she found that she liked it. She wanted more of it. Amy pressed
herself back against him and tilted her head to give him more access. Krista
was right. She was too old to be a virgin. Liam didn’t hesitate, his hands were
everywhere at once and it wasn’t long before she was writhing against him.
“Sweet Amy.” He whispered a second before he turned her so he could claim her
lips.

Amy wanted him. It didn’t matter if
he went back to the stick girls, all that mattered was that he could make her
feel good right now. Some women saved their virginity for someone special and
some threw it away as quick as they could. Amy wasn’t sure which of those women
she was, all she knew was that it was time. This was the most beautiful man
she’d ever seen and she’d lusted after him since the first time she saw him.
Maybe forever wasn’t meant for them but right now was and she meant to have it.
She meant to have him. Her heart thudded loudly against her ribs. Every caress,
every kiss spurred it faster. Soon she thought it will beat its way out of her
chest.

“Sweet Amy.” He murmured against
the bare skin of her shoulder. She wondered briefly where her shirt had gotten
to and when she’d lost it, her bra too. She wasn’t afraid of freezing because
it felt like her skin was on fire. His head dipped lower to her breast, his
tongue rolled her nipple and a soft moan escaped her. She felt his fingers on
her bare hip and working lower under her thermals. The temperature inside the
sleeping bag must be over ninety degrees. Amy began to panic when she felt his
fingers press into her core. No boy or man had ever been this far before.

Amy was always too involved in her
studies, the male population never held any fascination for her until this man
sauntered by and winked at her. “So wet for me.” His warm humid breath left
tingles on her skin wherever it touched. Her hips bucked automatically when he
pressed two fingers deep inside of her. She whimpered and her back bowed. God,
it felt so good, whatever he was doing to her. “Come for me sweet Amy.” His
thumb pressed against her pearl and she saw colors behind her eyes as her body
succumbed to the climax. “Sweet, sweet Amy.” She felt him murmur against her
skin more than she heard it. Her heart still pounded loudly in her ears. “Do
you want me to stop?” He asked softly against her ear.

“No.” It was a breathy reply. She
knew how the women in her books felt now. Knew why there was a sigh instead of
words. She felt what they felt. He claimed her lips again and she threaded her
fingers into his hair. It was such nice hair. It was soft and it curled around
her fingers like silk. It was the richest brown and reminded her of autumn with
its fiery highlights. She’d noticed them when the sun hit them as he’d walked
passed her park bench one day. Copper, gold and chestnut glowed from the loose
curls. She’d thought then that he was getting shaggy and needed a haircut but
now she wanted more of it to grab onto. The wind gusted outside and howled but
she didn’t care. She was warm, dry and very pleased right now.

His lips left a trail from the
hollow of her ear down to her collar bone. He licked the hollow there and
kissed the muscle behind it. Liam eased her pants over her hips to her thighs.
“I want you sweet Amy.” When Amy thought about how her first time would be she
never thought it would be in a tent. She also never thought it would be with
Liam. She had though thought about how she wanted to be taken. The women in her
books always commented on how deep it was if he was behind and she wanted that.
She wanted him deep and for him to dominate her. Amy was a strong woman and
most men were put off by that but this one was not a simpering nerd like most
of the men she knew.

This one was very different. The
way that he carried himself, the way that he was always in charge and the way
he quietly dominated his surroundings. She wanted that. She wanted him to
dominate her. She wanted to feel fragile and dainty. She wanted to feel like
only a strong man could make her feel.

Amy turned so that she was on her
side, the way this had started. “Like this?” She looked at him over her
shoulder. He smiled softly at her and pulled her hips back to his lap. She
nestled there and relished the heat between them. His fingers pressed gently
into her folds as he eased into her. He hissed and she wiggled against him.

“You’re so small.” He pressed and
pushed. She felt the crown of his penis enter her. It was big and it stung a
little where he stretched her. She wondered for a second if she should tell him
that he was her first but dismissed it. He would know in a moment. Pulling back
and easing forward, Liam worked his way inside of her. Amy did her best not to
cry out in pain and it took all of her will. It still stung and she felt so
full but him abandoning this would hurt more than what was happening. “So hot.”
He pushed all of the way inside of her and stilled when she inhaled sharply.
“Not possible. Amy?”

“Don’t stop.” She pressed herself
deeper into his lap. “Please.” She pushed back against him again. Did she just
beg? No. Amy Garrett did not beg. Oh, what the hell. She wanted this, him.
“Please…”

“Amy.” She turned to look into his
eyes. “You should’ve said something.” His jaw was clenched and she wondered if
her virginity had any physical effect on him. Did it hurt him too? She didn’t
think so.

“Are we done then?” She started to
pull away because this was getting embarrassing. He was giving her the stern
father look and she was beginning to feel like a naughty little girl.

“No. We are not done.” Liam banded
his arm around her center so that she could not wiggle free. “When we are, we
are going to talk about this. At length.” She nodded and he moved again. If she’d
known that her condition was going to be such a buzz kill she might have told
him. Amy’s eyes slid closed in an effort to only feel again. She did not want
him to scold her during her first attempt at sex.  She would not look into
those accusing eyes again until this was finished. He moved inside her. She
felt him deep and the fullness, the way her core stretched around him brought
that previous feeling of euphoria back.

Her cells were alive, her skin
tingled again and the muscles of her core clenched around him. Oh that was an incredible
feeling! All this time her girl parts knew what to do, they’d clenched like
this before but always on nothing. When they finally had something to wrap
around, there was no other word for that feeling other than incredible.

Amy moaned. “That’s it sweetheart.”
His fingers were in her folds again gently circling her clitoris. Her hands
fisted the sleeping bag and she moved against him. She felt his mouth on her
shoulder and she detonated. The world was nothing but blackness with a million
pinpoints of white and purple lights. The loud quick staccato of her heart and
an incredible feeling of release overwhelmed her. All of the tension that she’d
been building up for years was suddenly gone and her bones felt like jelly. This
was the release, the thing that women strove for, the letting go of everything.
Krista was right, sex was awesome. Leave it to her sister.

She wasn’t sure if he’d finished or
not, she was so wrapped up in her own climax but now he was spooned behind her
lazily kissing her bare shoulder. “How are you?” He finally asked. His voice
was gentle. “Did I hurt you?” She shook her head. “You should’ve told me.”

***

When Amy wiggled against him once
she’d woke, he couldn’t believe it. This woman was smart. Smart enough not to
fall for his crap and sometimes he thought she may hate him. The looks, the
tone and the sharp tongue only reinforced that belief but then she’d wiggled
her sweet little behind against him. His wolf surged. The wolf believed she may
be the one. Neither of them were sure yet but the hope was there. Liam had
watched her for months. He waited for any kind of encouragement but he only got
her sideways glances and scowls. He’d tried making her jealous by being where
he knew she would be when he had dates but no response. She would always look
the other way or ignored him like she didn’t care and like he didn’t interest
her. He’d nearly given up until he had this brilliant idea of bringing her out
here so they could get to know each other and so he would finally know. If she
were his mate, it was worth every penny of the fifty thousand. He would’ve paid
a million dollars to find ‘the one.’

When her head tipped in invitation
for his mouth it was all he could do to contain the beast. It wanted to mark her
and to mate her. He couldn’t mark her, not yet not until he knew it to be true.
Certainly not before she was educated and consented. Too many broken laws if
she wasn’t advised and if she didn’t consent. He didn’t want to be hunted or
punished. He was not a foolish pup anymore.

Then he’d entered her. He never
dreamed. In this day and her age, it just wasn’t possible. A virgin. He’d had
to stop. He felt the wolf surge and his shift start. He didn’t want to scare
the hell out of her so he’d stilled and calmed the wolf. It was going to claim
her since he hadn’t yet. It wanted her, it was sure that she was his, only his,
his destiny. A virgin, wow. Then she’d said please. He calmed, and the wolf
calmed, she wanted him. The wolf saw it as acceptance and nothing else mattered
but pleasing his mate. He smiled remembering that sharp tongue. “Are we done?”
Oh sweetheart, we will never be done. He thought. Never.

Chapter 5

“What difference would it make if
I’d told you?” Amy’s eyes narrowed. She wanted a fight. He smiled softly.
“What?” Oh, he loved that quickness. The way she pounced for answers, the way
her sharp mind worked and the way that she had no filter. He would never have
to worry if she was choosing her words or if she was hiding anything. She
wasn’t capable. It was in her mouth as soon as it was in her brain. No games,
just her and he loved it.

Most women smiled and talked pretty
when you were looking, when you weren’t they plotted and manipulated. Liam
hated manipulation. He did not like games and wouldn’t play them, which was why
most women lasted no longer than two dates. The other reason was that most
women were every other man’s playground and he did not like to share.

Amy was fresh and pristine, untouched,
only his. What she wanted, he could give her. Destiny said so because it had
flung them together. He only took the job at the institute on a whim, something
had called to him and he believed that was destiny.

“I just…would’ve liked to have
known. Maybe I could’ve been gentler. Maybe it could’ve been more romantic or waited
until we were in a bed for God’s sake.” She harrumphed.

“I didn’t think that my first time
would be on a glacier either but it happened. Now let’s move on, shall we?”

“We aren’t done with this.” He
quirked an eyebrow. “This must be discussed.”

“You discuss it, I need to pee.”
She’d been frantically pulling her clothes on. He watched his favorite body
parts disappear. He would see them again soon he consoled himself. She scowled
at him and crawled out of the tent. Liam dressed and checked his results from
yesterday again. When she didn’t return, he set out to find her.

Amy was sitting on a rock beside
the glacier. She was tucked into a hollow of the rocky wall of the mountain out
of the wind just sitting there. He thought she was probably mulling over this
morning’s incidents. He couldn’t wait to hear her thoughts on the matter. He
couldn’t wait to take her slowly later and again after that. She was so
beautiful. He doubted that she had a clue about that fact. She wore little makeup
and didn’t dress up or wear much jewelry. Her nails were short and unpolished,
her lips never glossed. He could see every freckle and loved it. No part of her
was hidden under goop.

“Take this and go up there.” He
pointed up the hill. “We’re measuring slope today.” Amy stood pursing her lips
and strolled up the side of the ice. He could hear her making fun of him but kept
his retort to himself. No sense poking a bear. He smiled at that. He’d poked
more than one bear in his lifetime. They’d been blacks or browns and it was
really his wolf that did the poking but he had a feeling this little bear would
be much feistier than any of them. She would have sharper claws and be much
more of a challenge than any of the others.

He set his tripod up and waited.
She was near the top and still walking. He waited and tapped the Smartphone.
When he looked up again, she was gone. Liam scanned the horizon. The sun had
begun its ascent but he saw no silhouette, no movement. He craned his head and
waited a few more seconds before beginning his climb. He took long strides,
working his muscles. The wolf wanted out, it wanted her, where the hell was
she? He barely controlled his shift. The wolf wanted its mate, it wanted to
hunt and find her.

Liam’s steps ate up the glacier,
his eyes always on the horizon always searching for her. She was nowhere to be
found. Then he heard her cursing.

“Stupid ice. Stupidest ice ever
frozen.” She screeched and he heard a thud, he’d begun making his way to the
right. Then he saw the void and Amy. She was sprawled out on the icy floor of a
void. “What are you looking at? Get me out of this damned hole.” He couldn’t
help but grin. She was fine and as feisty as ever. She was too deep to reach.

“I’ll need rope, stay there. I’ll
hurry.” He started to walk away.

“Bring a splint too.” She muttered
and he turned around then stood over the side. “You heard me. I think I broke
my arm, bring a splint and aspirin if you have any. It’s starting to throb.” He
nodded and turned away from the hole. He raced back to the tent. The wolf was
faster than he was and it would travel quicker over the ice but the wolf didn’t
have pockets. Once inside the tent Liam found the items he needed and hurried
back to her. She was still sitting at the bottom holding her wrist. Shit. She’d
gotten hurt and it was his fault. He’d made her walk up the glacier because he
liked to watch her walk but he should’ve done it himself. If he had, she would
be fine.

“Damn it.” He cursed himself as he
jogged back to where she was waiting. He wouldn’t let her suffer. If the break
was bad, he had a Satellite phone and a chopper on standby. They would have to
drop back below the tree line and find the clearing but if need be, he could
have her out of here within a few hours. His mate would not suffer. She
wouldn’t know pain long, not if he could help it. The wolf had decided. Amy was
his.

He threw the rope over the side
after staking it in the ice for extra support. “Tie it around your waist and
hold on with your good arm. I’ll pull you out.” He heard her mutter.

“Sure you will.” She was petulant.
That was unlike her, it must really hurt.

“Amy. Tie it around your waist. I
will pull you out.” She nodded.

***

The last thing that Amy wanted Liam
to do was pull her out of the damned hole. If he had any delusions about her
weight before, he wouldn’t after hauling her up. How embarrassing! This was the
crappiest glacier ever made. She tied the rope off and hissed when a pain shot
through her wrist.

“Take it easy, don’t hurt yourself
worse.” She tried to step up the side of the ice to help him pull her but her
feet kept slipping. How embarrassing. Liam hauled her over the side and pulled
her safely away from the hole. “Let me see.” Amy jerked her arm away and hissed
again. “Don’t be a baby.” He said evenly. “Let me see.” Amy held her wrist out
for him to examine. He gently pulled her glove off. “That is definitely
fractured.” He turned it over careful not to hurt her. It was swelled, red and
purple bruises were forming. “Do we need to go back?” She shook her head. “Are
you sure? I can have a chopper on the mountain within the hour. I don’t want
you in pain.”

“I’m fine. Let’s continue. Where is
my aspirin?” Liam pulled an ACE bandage from his coat pocket and wrapped her
wrist sturdily. “It’s fine.” Amy pulled her arm away when he kept looking at
it. She wanted to put her glove back on because it was freezing out here. He
fished in his pocket for the pills and handed her the bottle.

“Shit, I didn’t bring water.” He
started back in the direction of the tent.

“All gone. Yummy. Let’s finish the
slope. I’ll try not to fall in anymore holes.” She called after him. He turned
and grimaced. “Really. I’m a big girl and I’m fine. Let’s go boss.”

He grinned at that. He liked that
she’d said it, so did the wolf. Liam hurried down the slope until he got back
to the device that he’d left when she disappeared. He lined up his laser with
hers and pushed the appropriate buttons on the top of it. He motioned for her
to move over and line up with him again. They took fifteen more measurements
before going back to the tent.

This time when she walked, he kept
his eyes trained on her. He watched her breaths and studied her face. She was
in pain. She had the damned aspirin why didn’t she take more if she hurt. He
asked when she got close enough. “Because I still haven’t gotten that nasty
taste out of my mouth. I’ll take more when we get to the tent.”

“Amy, don’t be a martyr. If you’re
in pain, say so.” He scowled at her. The beast inside was angry and trying to
shift. Liam took long deep gulps of air. No sense scaring the shit out of her
now.

“Fine. My wrist hurts. I have no
idea how I am going to get this suit down to sleep let alone to pee. I’m
hungry, I’m thirsty, and I’m tired. You’re a lousy date.” She scolded him. He
grinned.

“I am. You are exactly right. Do
you have to pee now?” Her lips pursed. “I’ll take that as a yes, the only thing
worse than that is being wet out here. So let’s get that taken care of right
now.” Her head was shaking violently. “If you have to go, you’re going to go. I
won’t look. Promise.” She scoffed. “Look, the last time I found you going you
said that I hadn’t seen yours, now I have, so there’s no need to be bashful. I
will only help you undress then dress again, I won’t hang around and watch
okay?” They were standing at her makeshift latrine.

“Fine.” She finally consented and
let him undress her. “You can go now.” She said when he didn’t move. “Shoo.”
She motioned with her good wrist. He grinned and trotted off.

Liam waited around the corner for
her to finish. He was listening but she didn’t need to know that and she didn’t
need to freeze waiting for him to come back or to try and dress by herself. He
was calling the chopper. She wasn’t suffering because of him. It wasn’t as if
they were being paid for this work. It was his experiment. He planned to study
the measurements and publish his findings. The core samples he planned to give
to her. He had enough data to publish and they’d taken six samples for her to
study. They would keep her busy for a year or more while in the meantime he would
make her his mate.

Liam popped around the corner and
went to her. He hiked her under clothes and snow pants up then tugged her coat
down. “You were right around the corner weren’t you?” She asked. He couldn’t
tell if her cheeks were red from wind or embarrassment. He ignored her question
and went to the tent. He held it open for her. “Shit.” He heard her mutter.

“Don’t put any pressure on it.” He
stooped beside her. “Stop. I have an idea. Sit down.” Her brow crinkled. “Just
do it.” Liam crawled past her and turned around. He sat behind her and wrapped
his arms around her then pulled her inside into his lap.

“How convenient.” He grinned down
at her.

“Not convenient enough, we’re both
still dressed. Liam unzipped her coat then wiggled out from behind her to
fasten the tent opening. “There.” He pulled the snow pants from her once her
boots were off. “Now the jacket. Let me know if I hurt you.” She grimaced and
nodded. He slipped the gloves from her hands. He unwrapped her as if she was
made of fine porcelain. Liam tucked her into the sleeping bag and made her
comfortable. He got a candy bar out for her but even that didn’t brighten her
up.

“I think I should eat a ration bar
first then the candy.” She took it from him and he smiled getting her a ration
bar and the water bottle.

“Take the aspirin first. Your wrist
is swollen.” She looked at the puffy wrist and took the aspirin that he’d
gotten from her coat pocket. He blew out a breath. “I think I should call that
chopper.

“I’m fine Liam. I just need to eat
and get some rest. In the morning, I will be fine. You’ll see.” She bit off a
piece of the ration bar and chewed mechanically.

“When we do get back, I’m taking
you out for a real dinner. I owe you that much. This trip has been less than
enjoyable for you.” She smirked and reached for the book with the wolf on the
cover. Liam got the Smartphone out and started tapping on the screen.

“How is that thing even working up
here? It should be frozen by now.” She looked over at it.

“I keep it in my inside pocket
close to my heart where it’s warm and toasty. It’s about to die though. It
needs charged. I thought it would last longer than this if I wasn’t using it.
I’ve kept it off when I wasn’t working on it but it has about twenty percent
left.” He huffed out a breath. “Oh well, we’ll just add that to the list.” He
looked over at her. The book was lying on her chest face down and she was
asleep. He took the book and put it away. “I’ll make up for it sweetheart.”

“Amy.” She mumbled and he laughed.

Liam undressed and wiggled inside
the bag with her. He spooned himself around her to keep her warm hoping for a
repeat of this morning when they woke. His wolf was calmest this way. If it had
its mate close, it would rest. He fell asleep almost immediately.
