He sucked in a breath the second her rump came up against
his cock.
Fuck! How am I ever going to
make it home like this?
Callie’s soft sound of surprise revealed that she
finally knew what his predicament was. She immediately sat up and away from his
body, but all that did was force her ass tighter against him. He closed his
eyes and clenched his teeth. Well, there was nothing he could do about it now.

He gave Calypso a firm squeeze with his calves, and they took
off. He’d have to come back and get Satan in the morning.

Chapter 2

Ohmygod he has a
hard-on!

Callie forced herself to take deep, even breaths and tried
to ignore the movement against her backside. She thought she’d felt movement
earlier, when she’d been facing him, but couldn’t be sure with the material of
her skirt bunched up between them. Now there was no mistaking it. And every
jolt of the horse forced her further into the biggest erection she’d ever felt.
The man must be hung like a horse!

She giggled, while at the same time a little thrill shot
through her, knowing that it was meant for her. Callie couldn’t remember the
last time she was nestled against a warm man that desired her. She’d been on
the run for so long that she was never in one place long enough to form
friendships, much less a relationship. The man was a stranger but she didn’t
fear him. A friend of a friend knew Blade Evans and that was good enough for
her.

Callie only hoped this was the end of the line, and she
would be able to put down roots and not be afraid of looking over her shoulder
anymore, that Donald would finally give up and leave her alone. He just had to
get it through his head that their relationship was dead and she wasn’t going
back to him. It was bad enough that she’d given him eight years of her life.

Her thoughts were interrupted when Blade’s arm snaked around
her waist and he pulled her closer to him. She caught her breath, releasing it
when his horse picked up speed, and she understood why. She was nestled tightly
in the crevice of his thighs and her butt was riding up and down his cock with
every movement. For the first time Callie noticed heavy breathing in her ear.

The darkness surrounding them, the rough movement of the
horse beneath her, and the strength and hard body of the man behind her began
to affect Callie in a delicious, sensual way. Soon a warmth surged through her
body and she realized she was getting aroused. How could that be? She’d never
contemplated having sex with a stranger before, but she might consider it with
a man like Blade. From the moment she’d looked into his dark, slightly humorous
eyes she’d felt a spark.

And he must have felt something, too, since his cock was
still hard against her. Maybe they were just two lonely people caught up in a
moment, hungry for something they hadn’t had in a long while, a physical
connection between them feeding the hunger of the moment. Callie knew she
wouldn’t mind getting a little, especially from a man as sexy as Blade.

She could have gotten out of the tree on her own, but when
she’d glanced down to see a big, handsome cowboy below, the situation had
changed. At a hundred and seventy-five pounds and five-feet-ten, Callie had
curves, but he’d looked like he could handle them. So she’d played the damsel
in distress and accepted his help, falling into his lap as ladylike as she
could in a skirt.

Now she was sorry she had because she was getting hornier by
the second. So much so that she wished the hand controlling the reins in front
of her would let them go long enough to slide under her skirt and touch her.
Just the thought caused her clit to tingle. When they’d first taken off, Callie
had tried to hold herself away from him-she didn’t want Blade to think she was
a slut or something. But as the minutes ticked by she grew more and more
relaxed against him, enjoying the ride and the feel of his desire, even while
it made her grow hotter.

She hoped the lights ahead were an indication that they were
nearing the ranch. It was pitch dark now, and Callie guessed they’d been riding
for about fifteen minutes. She was surprised when Blade slowed his horse down
to a walk.

`“It’s very dark out here.” She felt compelled to break the
silence between them. “Where I come from you can’t see the stars.”

“You’re going to find a lot of things are different out
here.”

His voice was close to Callie’s ear, sending a shiver of
awareness down her spine.

“Cold?”

Callie decided it was better to let him believe that, even
though the temperature felt good to her.

“Maybe a little.”

“We’re almost there. I’ll let you off at the house so you
can go in and get warm.”

“Please don’t go to any trouble. You’ve done enough for me.”

“No trouble at all, ma’am.”

She liked the way he said ‘ma’am’. The Texas drawl made his
tone almost seem like a caress. It had an intimate ring to it that gave her
goose bumps. Again she felt his warm breath against her ear, and a sigh escaped
her before she could stop it. That monster cock of his hadn’t let up one bit.
She wondered if he might be wondering what was going through her mind. There
was no way not to notice the persistent pounding.

Is he waiting for some
kind of acknowledgement from me?
Well, it was only fair wasn’t it? She knew
he was hot for her, why shouldn’t she show him that she was just as turned on?
It’s not as if anything was going to happen between them. And besides, it was
his fault that she was horny.

As the horse jolted forward with every step, she leaned
further into Blade. He already thought she was cold. She wiggled her hips into
the cradle of his, melting inside when his dick pushed against the crack of her
ass.

Blade sucked in his breath and the arm around her waist
flexed. “What the hell are you doing?” The anger in his tone was laced with
another emotion, something raw and basic. His tone was ragged.

Callie smiled, knowing that he couldn’t see her. “I’m sorry,
I’m cold, remember?”

She wasn’t normally
a tease, but her naughty side had surfaced. She suddenly felt empowered with
the knowledge that he wanted her, and it was only natural that she wanted to
see how far she could push him.

They reached the large ranch-style house and Blade pulled
his horse to a stop next to a door where the outside light was on. Several lights
were also on inside the house. He quickly slipped to the ground and reached up
for Callie. Smiling innocently, she linked arms with him and slide down the
front of his body until her feet were on the ground.

For a moment they stood there, body’s flush, meeting each
other’s eyes. Blade was a lot bigger than she had first thought. He towered
over her head, and his large frame made her feel small. She could feel the
defined muscles in his arms where her hands were gripping him. Her breasts were
crushed against him, and she could feel the thickness and power of his thighs
through her skirt.

“Thank you.”

Was that
her soft voice?

“Let’s get you inside where it’s warmer.”

He released Callie and turned. She followed him up some
steps and through a door that led into the kitchen where a woman was sitting at
a small round table. She’d been writing something, but her head came up as they
entered.

A smile spread across her face upon seeing them. “Well, I’d
about given up hope on you.” Her comment was meant for Blade. “I was just
writing you a note.” Then she turned her gaze on Callie. “You must be Callie.”
She got to her feet and wobbled over to them. She had to be about eight months
pregnant.

“And you must be Marissa.” Callie accepted the hand Marissa
held out to her. “I would have been here earlier but I got lost.”

“And Blade found you?”

She cast an amused glance at him. “So I guess I don’t need to introduce
you to your new housekeeper.”

“Nope.”

His gaze
moved from her to Callie.

Lord, he’s a sexy man.
Under the kitchen light she was able to see his dark complexion, and how
handsome he was. His jet black hair was long to the point that he’d tied it
back with a strip of leather. Dressed in a denim work shirt that hugged his
powerful torso, faded jeans, and worn, muddy boots, he looked almost dangerous.

“I have some work to take care of. Do you mind taking care
of Callie for me, and showing her around?”

“Sure,” Marissa smiled.

Both women watched him pivot and leave the kitchen before looking at
each other again.

“When is your little one due?”

Marissa’s hand automatically smoothed over her protruding
belly. She was a beautiful woman, more so in person than on TV or in the
newspapers. Her hair was a beautiful shade of sable and long bangs emphasized
her smiling, dark eyes. Minimal makeup exposed flawless skin that had a natural
glow to it. And it was obvious that even without the huge baby bump the woman
had curves.

Callie knew Marissa was a plus-sized model, and that she and
her husband, Beau, had recently moved to a new ranch, leaving the family ranch
to be run by Beau’s brothers, Blade and Chaz.

“In six weeks.” She smiled. “Are you hungry?”

Callie shook her head no.

“Well, there’s a pan of lasagna in the oven when you’re
ready. Come and I’ll give you a quick tour.”

Marissa walked Callie through the house and showed her where
the bedrooms, baths, den, main living room, formal dining room, and pool area
were located. The layout of the house was divided so that the bedrooms were
located at one end, the public rooms in the middle, then the kitchen and what
she soon found out was the main bedroom at the other end.

“This is your room.” Marissa opened the door that led to a
huge bedroom located just off the kitchen. “You’ll have all the privacy you
need at this end of the house.”

“Very nice,” Callie said, walking around the room. She could
tell by the faint smell that it had recently been painted. The furniture was
antique mahogany. She knew because her grandmother had a set that was very
similar. The quilted spread and curtains looked new. There were plenty of
windows and a set of French doors that led outside.

“There’s a connecting bathroom over there.”

“This is great,” Callie said with mild surprise. “I don’t
think my last apartment was this spacious.” She gave Marissa a smile.

“When the whole family lived here this was the parent’s
bedroom.” Marissa sat down on the end of the bed. “The only two who live here
now are Chaz and Blade. Once Beau and I decided to move to our own place Blade
decided to stop working for their security company so he could run this ranch.
Chaz is gone most of the time on business.”

“So it will just be me and Blade here most of the time?”
Callie didn’t know whether to feel excited or nervous at the thought of being
cooped up alone with Blade.

Marissa nodded. “Callie, Val explained your situation to me.
I haven’t said anything to Blade out of respect for your wishes. But I think
you need to tell him. ”

Callie sank down on the bed next to Marissa. “I’m so tired
of running. If Donald manages to track me down this time…” She bit her bottom
lip, not sure what she would do.

“All the more reason to tell Blade what’s going on. Look,
it’s what he does. He knows how to protect people. Beau, Blade, and Chaz are
Evans Security. And they’re very good at what they do.”

Callie chuckled. “Do you really think Blade will want me to
stay when he finds out I’m being stalked? I guess we can trade services, my
housekeeping duties for his protection services.”

“That’s not a bad idea,” Marissa laughed teasingly. “But
seriously, Blade’s a good man.” She stood. “Look, Val’s going to call me in the
morning. She has resources and she’s going to find out where Donald is and what
he’s doing. We’ll talk more about it then.”

Callie nodded in agreement. “Thank you.” She got to her
feet. “I don’t know what I would have done without Val.” They started to walk
back towards the kitchen.

Marissa laughed. “Val and I go way back. She’s a gem. When I
told her we wanted to hire a live-in housekeeper she immediately thought of
you. It’s the perfect solution.” She picked up a sheet of paper from the table.
“Do you have any questions before I go?”

“Only a hundred and one with regard to Blade. I know nothing
about him.” Except that he was sexy, and hot.

“It’s all here on this sheet,” Marissa said, handing it to
Callie. “Everything I could think of and then some. And my phone number is at
the bottom, so call me anytime. Plus, I’ll be around on and off.”

Callie took a quick glance down the legal-sized sheet of
paper. The list was extensive. Most of it contained the kind of food Blade
liked, the schedule when he liked to eat, how he liked his coffee. She smiled
when she got to the part that said, ‘he has an occasional migraine, stay away
from him, he’s like a rabid bear’.

“You’re reading the part about the migraine?”

Callie met Marissa’s laughing eyes. “I know migraines aren’t
a laughing matter, but it’s hard to picture a big man like Blade suffering with
them.

“Not often, but when he gets one it can lay him up for days.
No telling what sets them off. The best thing you can do is just leave him
alone.” She picked up her purse. “No telling how long he’ll be working tonight.
Why don’t you take a shower and relax. Begin work tomorrow.”

“I’m afraid everything is in my car, miles down the road.”

“Just a minute.”

Callie watched Marissa turn, walk down a hallway and
disappear into one of the bedrooms. When she came out she had something in her
hands.

“If you don’t mind wearing something borrowed.” Marissa
handed the soft ivory colored garment to Callie. “It’s clean.”

“Thank you.” Marissa held the shirt-style garment up, taking
in the tiny pearl buttons that ran from the neck to the hem. The material was
thin and delicate. “It’s beautiful.”

“It’s yours. And now I need to get home before Beau comes looking
for me.”

Callie closed the door behind her, turned, and sighed.
Remembering the lasagna in the oven, she checked to see if it was done before
removing it from the rack and turning the oven off. The clock on the stovetop
said it was six-forty-five. She’d been up since five o’clock that morning, and
suddenly exhaustion had caught up with her.
