Keller walked over. He’d finally finished his
discussion with Anne.

“What’s Anne up to now?”

“Driving me crazy.”
Keller sat next to him on the couch.

“Why don’t you spank her and get on with it?”

Keller stretched his legs but didn’t acknowledge the
question. “Thanks for inviting me tonight.”

“You asked that I remember, and I did. I don’t know
how you do it, but thanks.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Keller
plucked a piece of lint from his pants. “Can I see it?”

“Sure.” Jake pulled the sterling silver necklace
from his pocket. It resembled a rope, and the lock was in the shape of a heart.
The delicate collar spoke volumes in the club and revealed only love to the
outside world.

“It’s perfect for her.”

“I hope she agrees.” He put the collar back in his
pocket and checked his watch.

“Anne said Charlie needed just a few more minutes to
prepare her. They’ll be out soon.”

Jake would give her a couple more minutes, and then
he would go find her himself. He needed a distraction. “I haven’t seen Gina at
the club for a couple months, and she’s been awfully quiet at work. Do you know
what she’s been up to?

“I might.”

“I’m not sure who I feel sorrier for, Gina or the
poor sap you’ve set her up with.” Jake shook his head.

Raised voices
came
tumbling
from a couple at the edge of the seating area. Keller looked back at Jake.

“Your work here is done my friend.”

“Thanks.” Keller squeezed Jake’s shoulder, and he
was off.

Jake looked to the door again and wondered when
she’d finally make her entrance. Through the crowd he saw Anne and Charlie walking
towards him. When they got within a few feet of him they stepped aside and
raised their arms in presentation.

There she was, the love of his life.

He stood and watched Lydia approach. Thinking back
on the first day of their project, he was very thankful for that first chance
he took. It would take several more before he finally made her his, and she was
worth it.
