“Think nothing of it, it's good to have the company, now are you going to drive or what?” Draylon smiled, happy that Paul was having such a good time.

Paul connected his MP3 player, selected his playlist and pulled out of the car park area and onto the main road. The tank was already full, so no need to stop for fuel. Paul put his foot to the floor and the car roared up the road, echoing off all of the buildings as it went. They had the roof down, the sun was shining, the wind was in their hair and it was a perfect day for driving; the sky was blue; the scenery awesome as they headed out onto the open road toward Nazca.

After several stops and a gallon of water, they arrived at the city of Nazca. They booked a room with a couple of single beds at the Nazca Lines Hotel. Draylon decided to go for a swim, as they had a lovely pool at the hotel. Paul thought he'd just lie out on a deck chair and catch a few rays – he wasn't feeling as energetic as Draylon. One hundred lengths later, Draylon emerged from the pool. His muscles were ripped to shreds, and he looked the epitome of health and fitness.

“Put some clothes on, there are women and children about,” Paul laughed.

“Are you not going to do a few lengths? It'll revitalise you. Exercise is essential to a long, healthy life.”

“How long do you live anyway Draylon?”

“About two hundred of your Earth years, I would guess,” Draylon laughed at his friend. “Get in the pool and maybe you'll add a few years to your life span.”

“I'm quite happy with my life span, thank you!”

The afternoon approached evening and they decided to freshen up, get dressed into some clean clothes and have a meal in the hotel. When they arrived at the restaurant, feeling recharged, they found a seat outside and ordered their food. Draylon ordered a large bowl of pasta and pushed his luck asking for a pint of milk, but they acquiesced to his request. Paul ordered rice and chicken and a cold pint of lager. Draylon suggested they leave at six in the morning the next day, to avoid being seen out by the lines of Nazca. Paul thought it was a good idea, although he was missing his lie-ins. Their meals and drinks arrived and they remained silent until they had finished. Draylon finished first and Paul made a comment that he had seen Hoovers work slower. After their meals, they retired for the evening, ready for an early start the next day.

It was five a.m. when Paul's alarm woke them. They got up and washed, grabbed some bottles of water and were out by the car just before six. Paul started the car, put on the MP3 player and headed out on the highway toward the Nazca lines. It was only a short drive, less than 30 minutes, and they pulled up on the side of the highway. They grabbed a bottle of water each and started their hike over the plains. Draylon knew exactly where he was going.

The Nazca lines are a series of ancient geoglyphs, and the area encompassing the lines is nearly five hundred square kilometres. The geoglyphs include that of a hummingbird, a monkey, an astronaut, a landing strip and many more. The geoglyphs have been there for many hundreds of years.

They arrived at the famous landing strip and made their way to the end of the runway, the wide end. Draylon could sense an entity below. They both dug with their hands. About two feet down, they came across a hard surface. Draylon, using his power to manipulate matter, cleared the area of rock to reveal a circular metal door. Draylon placed his hand to the door and caused it to open. He looked at Paul.

“This is an old saucer, it's one of ours.”

“What are we waiting for, let's take a look around.”

Draylon entered first and was surprised to find there was still power, he activated the saucer and the inside lit up. Paul climbed in behind him. They were both shocked by what they saw. Paul especially felt sick, just as Draylon did at the museum at Roswell. There were five incubators. Each one had a failed attempt at an alien-human hybrid. Two looked more human, whilst the other three were more alien, but they were severely deformed. It was clearly not a voluntary experiment, and Paul wondered what sort of race Draylon's kind really were.

Draylon was equally shocked and upset at this revelation. The craft was a very old one – Draylon imagined at least two thousand years old, which meant they had been experimenting with human beings for at least two thousand years, possibly a lot longer. He explained to Paul that the aliens he saw before him were not of the greys on his planet but the pale greens from an entirely different galaxy. He said that the greens looked very similar to his kind; only their skin was of a very pale green, where-as his kind were a very pale grey. He said that as far as he knew, the greens were destroyed in a civil war about six hundred years ago and none now existed.

Draylon suddenly heard the high-pitched noise again coming from outside. He said to Paul that they should get out now. Paul followed him, and Draylon sealed the door behind them and manipulated matter to form rock over the metallic ship so that it could not be seen. They quickly filled the hole with the two feet of gravel and made the area look as if no one had ever been there. Draylon ran to the narrow end of the landing strip and dug down; he pulled out a large rock and manipulated matter to open it up. He found another cool, metallic, rectangular-shaped tablet and what appeared to be part of an amulet. He placed his right hand over the tablet. The information within it flooded into his subconscious at the speed of light and then it disintegrated into tiny particles. Draylon placed the piece of amulet in his jean pocket.

Draylon sat down, thinking. Paul asked him what had happened. Draylon explained that when he placed his hand on the alien tablet, all of the information within it flooded into his sub conscious and the knowledge now belonged to him. He went on to explain that the green alien race had not become extinct by civil war, but they had been destroyed by his own race, the greys. Like your government, he said, my government also keeps secrets. Apparently, these pale green aliens nurtured human life and sought to educate and protect them.

One of their exceptional gifts was that of being able to predict future events. They predicted their demise and realised it was unavoidable, but as a legacy they wanted to protect the human race, knowing that my kind would eventually decide to destroy Earth when human intelligence became a threat. They used all of their power and knowledge to create an amulet, an amulet that would bestow power to the protector of the human race, an amulet for an alien-human hybrid, an amulet created for the coming of Draylon – that is me. My being here was predicted by the pale greens over six hundred years ago. This piece of amulet will find the other two pieces that make it whole. There is also information contained within this piece of amulet, and it says that our next destination is The Great Pyramid in Egypt.

“That is a lot to take in. What sort of power will the amulet bestow?”

“That I do not know. What I do know is that I am exhausted – let's get back to the car before we're seen, and go back to town to get some refreshments and something to eat.”

“You are always hungry,” Paul laughed at his friend. “To be honest, I have a little bit of a head-ache. One minute, I'm on Easter Island isolated from the world, now I'm in the centre of an alien battle.”

Draylon laughed out loud, “You always make me laugh – come on, let's go.”

They hiked back to the 1967 Plymouth Belvedere convertible, and made their way back to their hotel. They decided to take a stroll into town to find a place to eat. They eventually came across a little diner called Lines Café. The waitress came over to take their order. Paul ordered a large glass of water and eggs on toast; Draylon ordered a large glass of water also and four pieces of wholegrain toast.

“Why do you think this amulet is in three pieces?” Paul was a little confused – he couldn't believe they had visited so many places in such a short period of time, and now they were about to head off again.

“I can only assume to protect it. If one piece had been removed, I could still find it with one of the other two pieces.”

“That makes sense. Don't you find all of this a little overwhelming though?”

“Absolutely, I'm just going to take it one step at a time, otherwise I think my head will explode.”

Their breakfast arrived and they both ate heartily. Draylon asked Paul what he would like to do next. Paul suggested relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of Nazca, and maybe stay four days and head back to the airport in Lima on Friday. Draylon, although eager to get to Egypt, relented. He had been taking Paul all over the place, without really giving him time to relax and enjoy the break from everyday life. Draylon took the piece of amulet out of his pocket. Its shape was like a semicircle, but a bit smaller, with no markings. It was metallic and shiny. Paul wondered at how such a small insignificant looking thing could retain so much power when whole. Draylon placed it back in his pocket; they paid the bill and then made their way back to the hotel to relax by the pool. The next four days were going to involve lie-ins, relaxing, eating and just enjoying the serenity of the place that is Nazca.

It was Friday, 28th January. Draylon and Paul got up at six a.m. refreshed and ready to start their journey again. They checked out of their hotel and headed out to their 1967 Plymouth Belvedere convertible, with their belongings. Paul couldn't wait to drive it again. He got into the car, wired up his MP3 player and started the engine. He sat there just listening to it for a minute or so, and then they were off.

They arrived at Lima just after midday. They took the car back to Lima Car Hire and got a taxi to the airport. They went into the airport and booked their flights. The flight wasn't due to leave until early evening, so they decided to wait it out in the café with some magazines and lots of coffee and tea. Finally, it was time to depart. They were on their way to The Great Pyramid of Egypt – first stop, Madrid, and then onto Cairo.

Chapter Six – Egypt

They arrived at Cairo at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, 29th January. They had managed to sleep on the long journey, but still felt a little jet-lagged. Draylon was intrigued as to the nature of the amulet and couldn't help but wonder if the power within it was for good or for bad. Once bitten, twice shy, and Draylon had been devastated by the knowledge that his own people had wanted him dead. Trust was something that Draylon had become wary of. Paul interrupted Draylon's thoughts and suggested they stop and get some refreshments at one of the cafés at the airport. Draylon thought that a splendid idea.

At the café, Paul found a nice comfy seat whilst Draylon ordered refreshments; a pot of tea for Paul and a ham and cheese toasty, and three lattes for Draylon and two fresh croissants. Paul was very excited about seeing The Great Pyramid, but a little apprehensive about the narrow tunnels within.

“What's our plan of action then?” Paul asked, hoping that an early night was an option.

“I think we should book into a hotel first and unload our luggage and then head off to the pyramid.”

“What, at night time? It'll be dark!” Paul felt a little nervous about the idea of walking around a tomb in the pitch black.

“We won't be able to look around during the day with tourists about; it'll have to be at night. Using the internet on your mobile and my abilities, I'll be able to shut down all surveillance in the area. We can then sneak past any mounted police and make our way into the pyramid. We can get a couple of torches in one of the shops before we leave the airport.”

“I must admit that makes me nervous as hell. I'll do it though, I think.” Paul's adrenaline was coursing at the thought.

“Thank you, I owe you. Tomorrow we relax though, what do you say?” Draylon admired his friend for his courage and felt as if none of this would have been possible on his own. He was lucky to have a friend like Paul.

“Relaxing tomorrow and a long lie-in would be perfect!” He smiled at the thought.

“Agreed then, and just so you know, if this truly was foretold and this journey is destiny, you share that destiny – that's an encouraging thought.” Draylon clapped his friend on the shoulder. “Let's head off – this is going to be a long night.”

Before they left the airport, they stopped off to buy a couple of torches and batteries, and then flagged down a taxi outside and headed off into the city to find a hotel.

They found a hotel named Hotel Khufu and checked in for several days. They took their luggage straight to their room and decided to relax a little until midnight and then head off to the pyramid. Paul felt a little anxious about the whole thing. Draylon assured him there was nothing to worry about – they'd be in and out of there in no time at all.

It was midnight. They left their hotel room and started their journey on foot towards The Great Pyramid. When they were getting near, Draylon used Paul's mobile phone to access the internet, and using his technopathic abilities, he shut down all surveillance cameras in the area. They saw the occasional mounted officer, but found it easy to stay hidden; they soon made it just inside the entrance to the pyramid.

Once inside, they started descending down the passageway. It was pitch black, but they waited until they had made a bit of ground before putting on their flashlights. Paul was the first to put his torch on. Although in awe of the mighty pyramid, he felt uneasy and claustrophobic, and prayed he never saw any spiders. As they approached the bottom of the descending passageway, Draylon heard the high-pitched noise again. He told Paul and it eased his nerves a little. The passageway brought them out to a very large subterranean chamber; Draylon could sense the noise emanating from the dead centre of the chamber. He approached the area and using his ability to manipulate matter, he opened up the rock to reveal another piece of the amulet; piece two of the three pieces. The piece seemed to be the opposing piece to the one he found at Nazca. It was a semi-circle but slightly smaller than half a circle, which meant the next piece must be the sliver in the middle to complete the circular amulet. This piece had a singular line across it at an angle. Paul suggested it might be part of a hieroglyph that existed on the centrepiece. Draylon agreed. Draylon placed his right hand over the new piece of amulet; he closed his eyes and focused. The amulet gave him the resting place of the third and final piece, Tunguska ground zero, where the alien craft had struck on June 30th 1908.
