“It was just by chance. I thought it as good a place as any. I must go, see you soon.”

“Take care mate.”

Draylon was feeling really low, he didn't know what to do, time was going by and he was no closer to finding Adriana. His stubble was growing, his features looking sad and drawn; his colour was off despite his many powers.

Draylon decided he was going to go to Scotland, to Loch Ness; it's a place he wanted to visit, and thought the tranquillity of the loch would help him to think. He bent his knees and leapt with such force that he shattered the pavement behind him. He shot into the sky like lightning, and in seconds he was at the loch.

Loch Ness is the second largest Scottish loch by surface area, but due to its great depth, it is the largest by volume. It contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined.

Draylon found himself at Urquhart castle where the famous picture of the fabled monster was taken. Draylon sat at the water's edge and the only monster he saw was his reflection. His emotions ran as deep as the nigh-on eight hundred feet of Loch Ness. He closed his eyes, sinking into despair. Hours passed. Day turned to night. And then he heard it in his mind. A challenge from the hybrid that had Adriana, he was in the jagged canyons of Death Valley located in the Mojave Desert, on the border of California and Nevada.

Draylon never stopped to think, he shot into the sky like a rocket and in seconds he was at Death Valley. He landed with a force that cracked the rock beneath his feet. He shouted at the top of his voice “I'm here! Come out you coward!” and his voice echoed off canyons for miles and miles.

Chapter Three – Death Valley

Three saucers appeared on the horizon, the sun reflected off their shiny metallic surfaces with awesome brightness. As they approached one of the craft landed, the other two hovered as if waiting instruction.

A door opened beneath the grounded craft and Draylon watched as Adriana was led out by a fierce looking man with his hand around Adriana's throat. He was tall with similar features to Draylon; he had a very large muscular build, brown spiky hair, unshaven and had a very menacing look about him. Adriana looked frail and Draylon pleaded to the hybrid.

“Let her go, it is me you want.”

The hybrid grinned at Draylon, “All in good time, I am Draykon.”

“Why are you doing this? Please let her go, this has nothing to do with her.”

Adriana was crying but unable to speak with Draykon holding her throat so tightly.

“We know of your abilities Draylon, and so she is our leverage, do you think us fools?”

“What do you want?”

“That is simple, your life for hers.”

Draylon couldn't believe what was happening, he was supposed to be a saviour of humanity, and here he was threatened with a choice that could only mean his death. He looked at Adriana and his heart broke. He wanted to save her and live, but if he made an attempt to rescue her Draykon could rip out her throat in an instant. There was only one choice.

“OK! But promise you won't hurt her!” Draylon wished for one more moment with Adriana, but knew it was too late.

Adriana wanted to call out to Draylon, she loved him, and she was hurting so much, but she could neither do nor say anything.

“I promise she will live. Your humanity is pathetic.”

Draykon signalled to the two craft hovering above. They blasted at Draylon with immense firepower, like great beams of white light. At first Draylon resisted, but it started to take its toll on him. He fell to one knee, he looked up to see Adriana one last time and then he collapsed. The craft continued to blast him for seconds more and then stopped. Draykon released Adriana, she screamed “Draylon!” and the hybrid punched her clean out. He then walked over to Draylon; he was still alive, but barely. He put his hand to Draylon's head to read his thoughts, and then released. He said aloud “So you want to be a saviour of humanity eh? Pathetic!” He then picked up a rock that was close by, and manipulating matter he turned it into a jagged crown. He placed it on Draylon's head and then punched at it with all his strength. The crown cracked Draylon's skull and blood started to flow freely. He then kept punching his head, right hook, left hook, over and over and over again, his face was a bloody mess. Draylon's pulse stopped. The hybrid continued to hit him harder and harder. He then stood and kicked him repeatedly in the chest. He then manipulated matter and created a grave; he kicked Draylon in and laughed out loud. He resealed the grave, spat on it, and then made his way back to his craft, and then all three craft left.

All was quiet, the day wore on and nightfall approached. The temperature dropped, Adriana was still unconscious and Draylon was dead.

Chapter Four – Perception

It was Friday 18th February. Paul was in his front room thinking of Draylon and Adriana. He was glad that Draylon had rung him today, but saddened by the news that he still hadn't found Adriana. It really had been a whirlwind of a year so far and Paul wished that things would pause just for a second. It was getting late; Paul yawned, finished off his cup of tea and decided it was time for bed. Paul started to stand and at that second his head pounded, his legs buckled, and he collapsed on his sofa, images flooded before his eyes. Then it stopped. Paul opened his eyes and gasped, he said out loud “Draylon!”

Paul sat in shock at this revelation. He assumed that when Draylon had brought him back from the dead, he must have inherited the ability of being able to perceive events. To what extent he did not know yet, but it worried him, because he had just witnessed Draylon's death. He tried to call Draylon on his mobile but was unable to connect, he feared the worst. There was nothing that Paul could do, and it upset him. He made his way to his bedroom, and hoped that when he awoke things would be clearer.

It was Saturday 19th February. Paul awoke early, and decided to take a long walk across the island to Ahu Tongariki. He grabbed a bite to eat and set off on his journey. He felt more lonely now than he had for a very long time, everyone he cared for were disappearing. After several hours he arrived at the site of the fifteen Moai statues. He sat down and stared at the proud faces of the Moai for many hours, contemplating, waiting, and hoping. As the day wore on, Paul just sat there in a trance without the energy or desire to move.

Chapter Five – Exhumed

It was Friday the 18th of February, almost midnight. All was dark. Adriana was still unconscious, Draylon buried. A beam of white light appeared on the horizon, and it came closer and closer, then gently hovered above Adriana. It was a saucer similar to that of the greys, only bigger. The white lights reflected off the shiny metallic surface and the canyon lit up with the brightness of the craft. It lowered slowly to the ground and the door opened beneath.

It was a pale green alien, almost identical to that of the greys but for the colour. It was just over four feet tall, large head and eyes, very long arms with four fingers on each hand. The alien was followed by another two, and they made their way towards Adriana. The one leading signalled the other two to take Adriana on board, whilst he stood at the point Draylon was buried. He raised up his hands and manipulated matter to exhume Draylon from his grave. He reached in and carefully picked up Draylon, sadness in his eyes. He carried Draylon up into the craft and the door closed behind. The craft started to lift and gently revolve, then shot up into the night sky with a flash of white light like a comet.

Draylon was laid out on a raised metallic table. The three pale green aliens all closed their eyes, held out their hands and focused. Many minutes went by and Draylon's body started to warm, more minutes went by and the wounds started to heal. And then Draylon's eyes started to open, his piercing blue eyes looking at the pale greens inquisitively.

Draylon struggled to speak, “I thought you were extinct?”

One of the aliens leaned in towards him and said telepathically, “We thought you extinct too,” with a smile.

“Where's Adriana? Is she ok?” Draylon tried to get up.

The pale green that appeared to be in charge gestured to Draylon to rest, “She is ok. We thought it best we keep her gently sedated, we feel this would all be too traumatic for her.”

“Thank you!” Draylon paused. “I died didn't I?”

“Yes you did, as it was foretold. But now you live, the legend begins.”

“Is everything foretold? Can I not change anything?”

“We know little else now. Only that you are here for a reason, a saviour of Earth, our legacy.” The pale green leader placed his hand on Draylon's head, “Rest now.”

Draylon fell asleep in an instant and slept for many hours. When he awoke the pale green leader introduced himself as Brandlin, he told Draylon that just over ten thousand escaped the slaughter on his home planet. He said that they had found another hospitable planet in their galaxy, and are starting to repopulate. He explained to Draylon that after his beating at the hands of Draykon, many of his powers will be lost, at least for now, and it could take a while for them to return.

It was getting late on Saturday 19th February. Brandlin said that he would drop Adriana off near her home on Easter Island whilst still mildly sedated, and then drop Draylon off near his abode. He told Draylon to be careful, get his strength up, and don't do anything foolish. Just before drop off he bid Draylon a very fond farewell, Draylon thanked him and said that he would never forget what he had done for him.

Paul received a phone call just after 11 p.m. It was Angelica, she practically shouted down the phone, “Adriana has been found not far from our home, she's going to be OK!” Paul couldn't believe it, he was overjoyed, and he started to run. He hoped that Draylon was back too, so he never stopped running until he arrived home.

All was dark in his flat and nobody appeared to be there. He felt a pang of sadness. He switched on the light and almost jumped out of his skin, Draylon was asleep on the sofa. He went over to him and gently shook him, Draylon awoke.

“Hello my friend, how have you been?” said Draylon in a sleepy tone.

“I've been fine. You found Adriana, she's home safe,” said Paul trying to contain his excitement at having both of his friends back.

“It wasn't easy, and it's a long story. I am so tired, would you mind if we spoke in the morning?”

“No problem, good night, good to have you back.” Paul clapped Draylon's shoulder, switched off the light and then made his way to his room. He was exhausted also and it had been a long day. He made a quick phone call to Angelica to let her know Draylon was also home safely and then went to bed.

Chapter Six – Convalesce

It was Sunday the 20th of February at seven a.m. Draylon awoke early eager to find out the extent of the damage to his health, he hoped only temporary. He got dressed into his blue jeans, grey T-shirt and trainers and left the flat. He started at a steady jog for his first mile and was shocked to notice his chest felt restricted and he was starting to wheeze. He battled through the sensation, but came to a stop a short while later struggling for air. Draylon felt really upset at this revelation, he had always been super fit and when he got his powers he became almost invulnerable with terrific abilities. He was determined that this was not going to beat him; he was going to get it all back piece by piece. Draylon walked down to the coastline of Hanga Roa, Easter Island and found himself a rock. He picked it up and focused his ability to manipulate matter. He shaped the rock into a smooth ball shape and was happy that at least that ability was still working. He then focused his telekinetic powers on a slightly larger rock, he found it hard work, but was able to raise it several feet from the ground before his powers gave way and the rock crashed to the ground. Draylon was happy that he had retained some of his abilities, but his powers bestowed by the amulet were lost.

Draylon made his way back to Paul's flat, and when he arrived Paul had just got up. Paul asked where he had been so early and Draylon told him all about it. He went on to tell Paul all about his journey to Alton Hampshire, his fight at Death Valley and the news of the pale green aliens still existing. Paul was saddened to hear of Draylon's death at the hands of the new kid on the block, and vowed to help him with his training until he gets all of his powers back. Paul looked at Draylon and said, “You will get all of your powers back, and you will beat him.” Draylon felt uplifted by Paul's optimism.

Paul went on to tell Draylon about his vision, he explained that he must have inherited the gift of foresight when Draylon brought him back from the dead in The Great Pyramid at Egypt. Draylon was intrigued by this and suggested it'd be a good idea to try meditation and maybe try to have control over his gift. Paul explained that he wasn't sure if it was only a temporary thing, Draylon said it was worth practicing just in case. He explained that Paul's foresight could be a valuable tool in the battle against Draykon and the greys.

Draylon told Paul that during his visit to Alton Hampshire, he had tried to become a harder person, a person who would be capable of killing, should it be necessary. He had felt he never really had it in him to take a life, but that wouldn't be an option if the greys decided to attack. He explained he tried drinking alcohol, smoking and just trying to see the bad in people. No matter how hard he had tried, there was always more than enough good to combat the bad and always enough light to combat the dark. He said the world is in perfect balance as it should be, and he was just going to be himself and do what's necessary when the time comes.

Paul asked Draylon what he intended to do about his relationship with Adriana. Draylon said that as much as he likes her it cannot be, and that he cannot put her life in danger. Draylon went quiet and felt saddened at the thought, he desperately wanted to be with her, and he thought that maybe someday he could, but not yet.
