He
smiles, and opens his mouth to say something…

I
wake in the plane. Eyes bleary, I stare at
my
arm.

The
plane jolts beneath me, landing. As we bump along forward on the
runway, people stand to gather their belongings, but I can’t
move. My gaze refuses to stop tracing the Thai-letters that Räum
‘gifted’ me with.

My
mark.

It
was the mark that woke me. The mark woke me… because it seared

Acknowledgements

More
than anything I want to thank my mother. Supportive doesn’t
even begin to cover what she is of me. She made this book possible.
People never ‘deserve’ their parents, but I am so
thankful that I have mine.

I
also want to send out a huge ‘THANK YOU’ to my beta
reader extraordinaire/sister Anna; she’s been my best friend
since day one—and always will be. Her enthusiasm for this
series has kept me on task through this whole process.

Austin,
my husband, has been awesome also; he pretty much makes this whole
writing-thing possible. Thank you, husband.

A
big ‘thank you’ to India Hobson, who gave me permission
to draw from one of her beautiful photographs for the cover of this
book.

I
also want to thank my friends and family for their continued support.

And…To
all the bloggers and readers who took a chance on this series: thank
you!
