“Right.”

Kit sensed Sidney felt grateful for the lull in traffic—only thirty minutes until closing, and Tish had been in a good mood all day. That meant she could be cajoled into observing the fifteen-minute rule, and if nobody came in for a last-minute sugar fix they could begin closing procedures a bit early.

Kit pulled out her phone. “Let’s a get a shot of those shoes for the Facebook page. You know the pictures of your outfits are starting to get more likes than our food?”

“Maybe tomorrow I should wear a cupcake bra?” Sidney winked.

“Lady Gaga would have nothing on you.”
I wouldn’t get much work done, either.
The image of Sidney stripped to the waist, sporting swirls of delicious chocolate buttercream on her breasts, bloomed in her mind. She had to take a second snapshot because her fingers trembled a bit the first time around.

“I was thinking for dinner we could order in a pizza and binge-watch a show,” Kit was saying. She posted the picture and already somebody had liked it.

“We do that all the time. Let’s go out to Mick’s, or somewhere at the beach.”

Kit sucked in her breath. “I’m a bit tight this week.” Not the complete truth, but what if somebody saw them together? Yeah, one could assume two co-workers had gone out to eat, but given how Sidney leaned toward affection Kit didn’t want to be put on display.

“I don’t mind treating,” Sidney said.

“I like having you to myself. A restaurant booth is so uncomfortable.”

“What did you think—oh, never mind. Pizza it is.” Sidney stood on her tiptoes and glanced toward the kitchen, then relaxed and leaned into Kit. “During my lunch break I went to the toy store,” she whispered, her voice pitched high and giddy. Kit knew right away she wasn’t talking about dolls or cartoon ponies. Her breath hitched and she leaned on the counter for support. Over the last few weeks they’d introduced more paraphernalia to their play. Her backside still felt sore from last night’s session with some rather wide anal beads.

She cast a nervous glance at the kitchen, hoping Tish stood well out of earshot. “Maybe later on…”

Sidney reached under the counter for her handbag and brought out a black plastic bag. Inside was a blister package advertising the Li’l Honey, which looked to Kit like one of the many bullet vibrators Sidney owned. This one, though, was shaped like a large, thick guitar pick and had elastic straps attached to it.

“You wear it like a thong, with this in front.” Sidney tapped the triangular vibrating contraption. She then reached for a pair of scissors under the cash register and worked on the tough plastic. “It comes with this remote control which you can set up to five different speeds.”

“Uh, you want to do that there?” Kit looked around the shop. The sidewalks of the main shopping district were empty. One car rolled past the store windows. Kit’s anxiety ratcheted up a notch as Sidney hacked at this sex toy sealed with plastic that could withstand a nuclear attack. She wondered why the woman possessed the urgency to open the damn thing during work hours. Granted, they were creeping toward quitting time, but they couldn’t walk away without cleaning up first.

Could one walk in a battery operated thong? Worse yet, what if Tish caught them? How could she explain this?

“Easy, Sidney.” She brushed the hand that wielded the scissors. “That blister packaging is tough. You could slice a finger with this sharp plastic.”

“I just need to puncture it, and it’ll pry apart. There,” Sidney said with triumph as the protective bubble came apart. She scooped up the thong and pressed it into Kit’s hand. “Go try it on.”

“You bought this for me?” she squeaked. Not that she minded if a main squeeze bought her gifts, but Kit had spotted the price sticker on the package. Sex toys didn’t come cheap, especially small ones. Probably the one example where size didn’t matter.

“I bought it for
us
. C’mon, I want to see if it works, and there’s nobody coming in right now.” Sidney nudged her to the unisex bathroom—a single stall with yellow walls with hand-painted flowers and framed pictures of vintage magazine ads. Its proximity to the kitchen had always bothered Kit, which was why she limited liquids at work and did her business during lunch, somewhere else.

“This can’t wait until we’re alone?”

“We’re alone now, Kit. What are you so afraid of?” As Sidney encouraged her, Kit contemplated taking a moment in the bathroom, and felt grateful for the privacy when she locked the door behind her.

“Fine,” she called out. “Just a sec.”

The hell am I doing?
Sidney had to be nuts to suggest she try on a sex aid at the workplace, and the fact that she held onto the remote further excited Kit’s nerves. She might as well give Sidney access to a gigantic cattle prod for stabbing her crotch every time she walked up front.

Yet here she stood in the bathroom, toeing off her Vans and undoing her jeans. She couldn’t resist Sidney, her charms or her massive sexual appetite. The petite blonde should come with a warning label: more addictive than drugs.

Kit knew she should dress and give back the vibrator, and tell Sidney they could have their fun after closing. Instead the elastic straps cut into her waist and thighs as she adjusted the triangular device over her mound. She put it on over her panties because she didn’t know what to expect. The tiny puck might likely bring a few shivers of pleasure or else shoot her to the moon. She’d soon find out.

I must really like her
, she thought. Who else would she place on a list of people for whom she’d do crazy things?

Fully dressed again, she opened the door as Sidney snapped the back casing on the remote. “It didn’t come with batteries, but I got some at the store while I was there. I needed extras, anyway.”

“Probably cheaper at Target.”

Sidney shook her head. “Toys need special batteries to work well.”

Kit couldn’t argue with that. In the two weeks she’d spent with Sidney, the woman burned through them like a chain smoker with a carton of Lucky Strikes.

Sidney’s gaze panned her body and she smiled. “Wow, it is discreet. I can’t tell you have it on.”

“It feels weird.” Kit shifted her hips but the vibrator stayed put. “Maybe this is what it’s like for a guy wearing a protective cu-UP!”

The first buzz shot over her covered pussy and up her spine. Kit jerked and grabbed the counter in case her knees buckled.

“Now I can tell.” Sidney’s grin appeared innocent, but Kit didn’t mistake the mischievous gleam magnified in her glasses.

“You really need to warn me when you push that thing to eleven.”

“Aw, where’s the fun in that?” Sidney’s lower lip pushed out. Kit wavered between wanting to pull her closer to nibble on it or faking affection to grab for the remote.

“Cute. It’s coming off.” Kit backed into the bathroom door and felt for the knob, her gaze pinned to Sidney’s hand. “We know it works. We’ll have some fun tonight, okay?” Maybe she’d turn the tables on Sidney and crank up the speed while she writhed in the electro-thong.

Sidney held out her free hand, looking contrite for once. “Kit, no. I was just teasing. Here.” She held up the plastic black rectangle and turned the dial to the lowest setting. This produced a low buzz that massaged Kit’s labia. It actually felt pleasant, a sensation she probably wouldn’t have minded if she were home alone in bed, or watching TV.

Kit tried a few steps, relieved to keep a straight path rather than a Monty Python silly walk. “This is okay,” she said. “Not too distracting and it doesn’t hurt.”

“I can’t wait to try it together. Leave it on and we’ll do some heavy scissoring.” Sidney moved closer for a quick demonstration.

“What are you doing?” she nearly cried, her heart pounding. Tish could walk out of the kitchen any second now. Maybe the faculty of Dareville Academy might walk in to buy after-school snacks. Somebody could be spying on them from a window across the street.

“Why are you so jittery?” Sidney brushed against Kit and thrust forward. Tiny thimbles and top hats pressed against the crotch of her jeans and for a moment intensified the vibration. Having Sidney so close usually turned Kit’s pussy wet, but at this moment her anxiety heightened.

“You’re all stiff. This is supposed to be turning you on.” Sidney searched her face. “You know I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize your work, right?”

“I know.” Kit’s voice trembled, either from the vibe or fear. Maybe a bit of both.

“I figured after working a few weeks, I’d get the gist of the customer flow. It’s slowed to nothing around this time the past several days. I thought we’d liven it up,” Sidney frowned, “but you look like you’d rather be somewhere else.”

“What? No. I don’t ever think that.” Her voice lowered. “You don’t know what I’ve been thinking all day, what I want to do later.”

“You can talk in a normal voice, Kit. Nobody is listening.” Sidney turned cold and pulled away.

“Sid—” Her apologies went unsaid as Tish called for her from the kitchen.

She cursed under her breath. “We’re not done here, I promise. What do you think the range is on that thing?” she asked. She opened the swinging door and crossed the threshold into the kitchen.

“The package didn’t say.”

Kit couldn’t mistake the mischief in her tone. She said nothing and loped deeper into the workspace. The vibe still hummed over her panties all the way into the large walk-in closet Tish had converted into the office.

“Get the door, please? I wanted to ask what you thought about Sidney, how you think she’d doing? She’s caught on quick with the routine here, and the customers seem to like her.” Tish sat at her desk and shifted around paperwork as she talked. Kit noticed her filing system, rather lack of one, took up the majority of space in the cramped area. Tish’s laptop sat piled on a stack of cookbooks on the desk, the browser window opened to an eye-crossing spreadsheet.

Kit shrugged. “She’s great. I definitely like her better than Gloria. She’s more suited to the job.” She wasn’t just saying that because they were fucking. Making love. Dating. Whatever either wanted to call their relationship—they had yet to approach such a discussion.

“Yeah, but what I want to know is how long do you think she’ll hang around?” Tish’s voice turned soft and serious. Kit saw the concern on her employer’s face and took the chair facing the desk. Thankfully the vibrator’s buzz proved quiet enough not to attract attention, yet when Kit sat it shifted the point of contact. The sensation quickened closer to her clitoral hood and she twitched. The thought of crossing her legs to further conceal the device passed, with Kit assuming she’d come right there.

Damn.
The vibe worked through wooden doors? Who the hell devised this thing, NASA?

“Well, she’s said she wants to make chocolates. I imagine she’d stay if she knew there was a chance she would end up in the kitchen,” Kit said. “Personally, I love working back here with you. I’ve wanted that for a long time.”

“You’re not getting replaced, Kit. You’re not Gloria, and I think the world of you.” Tish smiled. “At this rate, I just might move Sidney over with us and hire somebody else to work the register. We have so many leads on catering… Are you all right?”

Kit had held her breath. She probably looked like a beet with eyebrows to her boss. The clit stimulator hit its mark so well, and Kit swore it leveled up a notch. “I’m good,” she squeaked.

“You look like you’re either going to have a heart attack or climax. I hope it’s the latter, since it’s easier to recover from that.”

“Can you hold that thought for a second?” Tish’s expression turned bewildered as Kit launched from the chair and streaked through the kitchen.

In the retail area she passed Annalise, who leaned on the counter gabbing with Sidney, but she didn’t bother to say hello. She bolted into the bathroom, unzipped her jeans, and yanked on the vibrating thong so the buzzing triangle massaged her thigh. Kit collapsed on the toilet lid and sighed with relief. “Oh, God, that was starting to hurt.”

A knock fell on the ajar door, and Annalise peered at her. “What the hell, chick?” Her gaze panned down to the vibe. “Have you had that on all day? I’m surprised it didn’t fall off.”

“It’s got elastic bands to keep it in place.”

“I was talking about your lady parts.” Annalise shook with quiet laughter. “What would possess you to wear that to work? I mean, I heard Tish sometimes makes naughty candies for those shades of gray parties or whatever, but this…”

Kit held up her hand. “Shut up about it, okay? Just… no. Let me have a few secrets.” She lurched up and forward and closed the door. The vibe still clung to her thigh but the motion slowed to a weak purr.

“Okay, Mrs. Grey. So, what’s the deal with the hot blonde working the counter?” Annalise cocked her head toward the door. “I picked up on something there.”

Oh, don’t you dare, you pussy vulture.
“What happened to Barb?”

“Who?” Realization dawned and softened Annalise’s frown after a few seconds. “Yeah, Barb. That didn’t work out.”

“You don’t say.”

“She’s one of those animal rights people. All she ever talks about.” Annalise made a yapping puppet out of one of her hands and rolled her eyes. “I didn’t have a problem eating plain spaghetti around her, but when she lit into me about my Doc Maarten’s she had to go.”

“Good to know you have your priorities settled. Anyway, Sidney and I are kind of a thing.” Kit righted her jeans and stood tall, hoping to assert herself over her slightly shorter friend. Annalise didn’t appear intimidated, however. She stuck out her tongue far enough to show off her thick stud piercing and licked her lower lip.

“Yeah? How long’s that been going on?”

“Couple weeks, almost since we met.”

“And you said nothing to me?” Annalise cried. Kit hoped the small bathroom absorbed most the volume of her friend’s outburst, and she motioned to keep it down. “All this time I’m asking why you can’t hang out, and you’re getting some of
that
.” She hooked her thumb behind her.

“I don’t like to broadcast my love life.” Kit’s voice hissed. “Plus you never asked outright if I was seeing somebody.”
