“That is so good to hear. Emma has been asking me about her.  It seems the whole ship knows about her being kidnapped.  You might want to send a general message to those on the ship that she is recovering and well.”

“Let’s just work on getting home first.  How are things coming along?”

“Everything on the inside of the ship has been mostly repaired either temporarily or fully to a functional status until we reach Theron. The damage on the outside will have to wait until we get to the base and have the suitable equipment to rebuild it. I have calculated that the structural integrity of the ship should hold when traveling through the worm hole.  However, as a precautionary measure, I went ahead and transferred additional power to the shields to make sure she holds. Other than that, the ship is ready to move whenever you give the command.” Brylon tapped his palm with the tool that he was holding.

“Perfect. I want to move the ship and get back to Theron as soon as possible. I am not sure that we have seen the last of the Drylons.”

“Commander, I have been looking for you everywhere!” Kurtz came marching into the command center. “The ship is ready to move.”

Brylon and Zeb watched as their towering friend strode over to them.  Despite his size, He looked like a lost child, causing the two men to burst out laughing.

“I am so glad that my mere presence brings you two much amusement!” Kurtz folded his arms over his chest but laughed along with the two men.

“Well, Pernmock why haven’t you got the ship moving. I gave you command of the ship.” Zeb stood straight up, teasing Kurtz.

“And I am now giving it back to you. Your mate must be doing well if you have left her side.” Kurtz leaned against the nearest computer station.

Zeb clapped the Pernmock on the back, “She is doing much better. You did an excellent job with coordinating the repairs. I will assume that you will travel with us Kurtz.”  He directed his next order to the crew in the command center, “Now, let’s get the ship moving and make our way back home. Ceran, ready the engines to enter the next worm hole.”

“Yes, sir!”

“Brylon get back to work so that you don’t get us lost going through the worm holes!” Zeb kicked the man’s boot again, showing him that he had not lost his humor.

Brylon’s mouth dropped open, “Lost? I have never gotten us lost! You on the other hand have gotten us lost a few times that I recall.” He replied defensively and leaned back so that he could wiggle himself back into the tight spot he was working to continue his repairs.

Zeb and Kurtz moved to the center of the room and faced the large viewing window.

“Are the engines a go?” Zeb called to Ceran.

Ceran nodded his head and called back, “Everything is a go commander.”

“Alright then bring the ship around and head for the worm hole.”

The ship moved forward and turned to face the right direction. Once righted, the ship picked up speed quickly and soon the worm hole behind them blended into the blackness of space. In front, the ship moved closer to the next hole located behind one of the larger planets in the Fio star system.

“Increase the ship’s speed and maintain velocity as we go through the hole. Kurtz, is your ship following?” Zeb’s attention was glued to the view in the window before them.

“They are close behind. They have instructions to follow your ship at all times.” Kurtz  was remotely commanding his ship from the Theron command center making sure that the two ships remained together safely.

“Okay Ceran, it is time to enter the hole.” Zeb watched as the ship moved closer and closer to the worm hole. This hole wasn’t as long as the last one so it wouldn’t take as long to go through. This hole would lead them to the Glenco Star System where they would then use smaller worm hole that would bring them into the Seer Star System. The Seer Star System didn’t have any intelligent life forms in it because it was a newly formed system in its early years. However, it did offer the quickest way back to their own star system of X-Tran.

“All systems are working as they should Commander.” Ceran informed the Commander.

Kurtz interrupted Zeb’s thoughts, “Why don’t you go ahead and go back to your mate. I will handle things here and notify you when we are near Theron.”

“I am fine, Kurtz.”

“To be honest Zeb, you look like shit.  You are in dire need of a shower and some rest.  When was the last time you slept?”

Zeb gave Kurtz a look filled with daggers for challenging him in front of his crew.  Thinking about what his friend said, he looked into a reflective panel and saw clearly what Kurtz meant. “Thanks Pernmock. I could say you don’t look so good yourself but you already are green.”

The room erupted in laughter with the commander’s quick come back. Both warriors looked at each other then quickly joined in. Kurtz was doubled over laughing, “My friend I think we all needed that laugh. I am being serious though. Go see to your mate.”

“I think I will take your advice. Command center crew, Kurtz is in charge. I will see you later.” Zeb walked towards the transport tubes still laughing. He had to admit that laughing sure felt good. He couldn’t wait to get back to Avery. Earlier he hadn’t wanted to leave her but he needed to see to the ship was alright and his crew was alright. The ship was still under his control even though he had given Kurtz temporary command.

He went back to his quarters and took the fastest shower ever and quickly dressed.  He wanted to be clean and look refreshed when he saw Avery again.  He couldn’t bear to have her see him as he was when he left her.  He checked on Boots and Knox, giving them some food and then made his way to the clinic.  Once he reached the infirmary he spoke with Zane for a few moments about Avery’s condition. Satisfied with what Zane said he went into Avery’s private room. She was awake and had another visitor, Gracie.

“Hello ladies.” He announced as he walked into the room.

Gracie got up off the bed and gave Zeb a big hug which confused the hell out of him. “What was that for?”

Gracie looked up at the big guy smiling, “If you hadn’t acted so quickly we probably would have lost Avery. I also got to thank you for finding me and calling for Zane.”

“Gracie there is no need to thank me. I would do anything for any of the Earth females, especially with regard to mine.” Gracie had let him go and he moved over to Avery. Bending over her, he took her face in both of his large hands and kissed her on the lips.

“I have missed you, Nea hela.” He kissed her again, lingering a bit longer this time.

Gracie coughed, “I think I will leave the two of you alone. See you later Avery. Go easy on her big boy.” She said to Zeb and gave Avery a wink as she exited the room.

“How are you feeling?” He still hadn’t let go of her face.

Avery had closed her good eye at the feel of his hands on her face. She felt to secure when he was near her.

“I still have a bit of a headache but Zane says he noticed that a little bit of the swelling has gone down. I can open my other eye a crack now.” He hadn’t noticed her eye when he first kissed her.

“Well, look at that, but can you see out of it?” Now he looked concerned. Zane said she should recover completely but would her eye sight still be intact?

“Things are blurry out of that eye which is a good sign. Zane said that if I would have had any permanent damage to it I would not be able to see out of it at all.  It might take a few days or a few weeks but my sight should return to normal.” She smiled shyly at him.

“Why do you look so sad Nea hela?” He sat on the edge of the bed.

She shrugged her shoulders before she answered, “Will you still want me if I am blind in one eye?”

“How could you even think that little one? You are mine forever. I told you that. Nothing would ever make me give you up. I love you!” He pulled her into his embraced. “Don’t you ever think like that again, do you understand me?” His voice had an edge of anger boarding on disbelief. “Do you understand me?” He lifted her chin so that he could see her face.

She had tears in her eyes when she responded to his question, “I believe you.  Zeb, I love you, too.”

He kissed her again but this time it had a sense of vigor behind it that caused her to yelp.

“Sorry. I cannot wait to have you in my arms again.” He watched her smile return then added, “Naked!” He laughed heartedly when she swatted him on the arm. “What! It’s true!”

“You are so relentless, Zeb!”

“You make me that way little one. Gods, I want you right here.” He moved in to plant small kisses on her exposed neck while pulling aside the gown that she had been put in after her initial examination. “Your skin is so soft.” He had snuck his hand up until it rested on her breast.

“Umm…Excuse me, I need a word when you manage to stop fondling the patient Commander.”

Zeb whipped around to see who had intruded on them while Avery pulled the gown back over her shoulder.

“I did not mean to interrupt.  I came to check on my patient but I can see that she appears to be doing just fine.” Zane walked into the room with Jeeka close behind. “How is the eye feeling? Are you able to open it any further?” He moved to the opposite side of the bed. He angled her head gently towards him so that he could examine her face. “More of the swelling has gone down but it will be bruised for a while. Jeeka brought you an ice compress that I want you to keep on as much as possible in 15 minute time intervals.  It is cold and will remain so as this is the natural state of the material inside of it.” Jeeka handed Zane the compress and he gently placed it against her face over her eye.

Zeb started to fill Zane in on the current events of the ship, “We started moving again. It shouldn’t take us much longer to reach Theron. The Pernmocks are going to travel with us. Kurtz is temporary commander of the ship and is going to see the ship through the holes.”

“This is one mission I will be so happy to see end.” Zane replied. “I am ready to get Gracie off this bucket of bolts and into my home. Avery, you are going to love our planet I just know it.”

“I hope so.” She leaned back in the bed so that the ice pack would stay on her face without her having to hold it.

“You will little one, you will.”

Chapter 30

The ship had made the rest of the journey to Theron without any additional problems or encounters. The mother ship docked on to the station that orbited the planet since it was too large to land on the surface. The external repairs that the ship required would happen while docked.  Additionally, the interior of the ship and all of its systems would be checked, refitted, and upgraded.

Zeb had gone to collect Avery from the infirmary when the ship was secured to the docking station. Kurtz had returned to his own ship and crew, promising that he would meet them down on the planet this evening at Zeb’s home.

“Zeb, what about Knox and Books?  I want to go get them. Books will be so scared if anyone else tries to put him in the carrier again. Please Zeb!” She was pulling his hand in the direction of the transportation tubes.

“Okay, come on.  We will go get them now.”

After Avery expressed her anxiety about having to fly in one of the shuttles to the surface, Zeb had decided to bring Avery to his home by electronportation.  It only took them a few extra minutes to gather up her animals and make their way to the electronportation room. The rest of her belongings would be sent to his home directly.

“Are you ready? We will beam directly into my home.”

Avery took hold of Zeb’s hand, “I’m ready.  Let’s go.”

Once he was given the order from Zeb, Brylon beamed the couple down on to the surface of Theron. The coordinates were perfectly entered into the system that would bring them directly into Zeb’s home. Avery’s hand clutched the much larger one as she began to feel the tingling sensation. Just like the first time she was beamed aboard the ship, she watched as parts of her and Zeb began to fade. Seconds later a much different room materialized.

“We are home now, little one.” He looked down at her to watch her expression as she took in the first glances of his home, a home that they would now share.

Avery couldn’t move her eyes fast enough to survey the room that she was now in. It was huge and beautifully decorated. The walls reminded her of a log cabin back home. The ceiling had massive beams that crossed and appeared to be made out of branches of some sort. The floor was the most gorgeous hard wood floors she had ever seen. She had no clue to what kind of wood it was but it reminded her of oak.

“Do you like it Nea hela?” He shyly asked her.

She let go of his hand and moved forward slowly in a circle, “Like it? It is beautiful! I never imagined your home would look like this!” She was just so overwhelmed by the sights all around her. Although she still couldn’t see clearly out of her injured eye, it was a breathtaking display.

He moved up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. Moving her hair to the side so that he could place a kiss on the side of her neck he said, “Come, let me show you to our room.” He kissed her neck again while pulling her bottom back against the bulge in the front of his pants.

“I am afraid that if you continue these activities, we might cause a scene if someone walked in or beamed in on us.” She stretched her neck to the side to give him more access.

His kisses now moved up to her ear where he nipped it gently with his teeth, “I wouldn’t care who walked in on us.” His hands were inching up her chest underneath her shirt.

She halted the progression of his hands before they could reach their target and spun around, taking him by surprise. Her eyes were sparkling with excitement, “Show me the rest of the house!” She pulled his hands in leading as she backed up.

“Ok.  However, we will finish what we just started.” His eyes were filled with desire and excitement as he walked with her. He showed her through the rooms that were all beautifully decorated in the same manner as the room they had beamed into. The next room that they walked into appeared to be a library. The walls were all the same exposed wood design as the rest of the house with three of the walls completely covered with bookshelves. On the fourth wall was a large window with a glass door in the center. When she approached the window and looked outside the glass she noticed that it was night.  She could see the twinkling stars and the bright light of the two moons shining brightly in the dark sky Theron sky.
