Caden Morning held her face and looked into Anna’s eyes.
“I’m going to give you a personal day. Paid time off.”
“Are you sure everything’s going to be alright? With what I owe the company and the trouble I’m in.”
Caden jutted his chin and looked at her through his mahogany lashes.
“I’ll make all that disappear in a puff of smoke. Executive privilege, my sweet.”
“What about this mess?” Anna waved her hand at the disaster they’d left in the break room.
“The janitors will be here in a few hours. They can handle this.” Caden reached in his pocket and drew out a flash of green. A hundred dollar bill. He laid it on the table.
With a bleach wipe he produced as if by magic, Caden cleaned and packed up his whips and straps. Anna wondered what the janitor would think about the ladder with the drops of dried milk-like fluid all over it. The napkins and crumbs now scatted all over the floor.
Her stomach growled.
“You’re hungry. I’ll order us some Italian. I know a great place. They deliver.”
She rubbed the welts on her legs. The majority were fading now, though a few of the substantial ones looked to last through until morning.
Will any of them leave scars?
Probably not, although a reminder or two of her first time with Caden might be nice to have.
“Now, about that bath.”
Hand in hand, they walked back through the hallways lit by emergency lights, to the Branch Manager’s office, gathering their clothes on the way. Anna learned that the other door lead into the Executive Apartment, which turned out to have a very nice tub, indeed.
