I can

t believe you managed to get us
tickets for the concert tonight,” Sarah said joyously as she threw
her arms around Blake.

Just sitting here watching
Take Me
To Mars
made her want to squeal like a
teenager. She bubbled with excitement as she looked around the
venue. It brought back old memories from when she was younger and
would attend their show each time they had a stop in
Toronto.

One
year, she'd even waited in line in sub-zero temperatures so she
could meet the band. By the time they let everyone into the store,
she was exhausted and freezing, but by then it didn't matter. It
had all been worth it. The crazy things she'd done as a young
girl.

As
always, the band put on one heck of a show. Every time she'd seen
them they'd never disappointed their fans. She always left wanting
more.

The
lights had gone dim and everyone waited for the band to come back
out onstage and do an encore.

"I know
how much you wanted to go and as it happens, one of my clients is
related to Travis. I'd mentioned it in a conversation how much you
wanted to go and that's when he told me they were related. He came
by a few days ago after he got me the tickets."

Remind me to thank that client for this.”

"Trust
me, I've thanked him enough for the both of us."

She
stole a sweet kiss from him. This really meant so much to her. Not
only could she do a write up of tonight’s show for one of her
freelance sites, she'd be able to have one amazing night enjoying
the best band in the world with the love of her life sitting right
next to her.

Blake
tangled his fingers around hers and raised her hand to his lips.
His hot breath bathed her skin before he placed a light kiss on her
palm. The kiss sent a light shiver down her back. His kisses always
had an effect on her. They made her melt like hot
butter.

I

m just happy that you're having a
good time. We haven

t been able to do much fun stuff
these last few weeks because I've been working late. I've missed
you," he told her.

She'd
missed him as well during the past couple of weeks. It felt good to
spend time with him. It gave them the chance to
reconnect.

Yes,
she'd seen him in the morning and at night when he'd gotten home
from the firm, but it wasn't enough. At times she’d started to feel
like they'd become strangers in their own home, and a distance
formed between them. Part of her felt like something was missing, a
part of her felt empty.

Sarah
knew he wasn't staying late at work because he wanted to. The
advertising company had landed a huge contract and he was heading
the account since he’d sealed the deal. They'd put him on tight
deadlines to get the preliminary sketches of their pitches done
just in time for the meeting coming up next week.

All
those long nights spent drawing and creating had definitely paid
off for him. Now all that was left was getting approval for
everything he'd come up with.

Her attention focused back onto the stage as the crowd began
to cheer and holler. One by one, shadow

s emerged
from the sides of the stage. She watched as Travis took a seat in
the middle behind the drums. Slowly, the beat began to fill the
arena.

Mike and
Johnny joined Travis on stage.

"Tonight, we

ve got something special going
on. One lucky winner will be joining us up here for the last song
of the night. Who wants to come up here?" He turned his head and
raised a hand to his ear.

The
whole arena broke out in screams as fans waved their hands in hopes
of getting noticed and plucked out of the crowd. She watched the
sea of lights brighten the arena. Fans waved handmade signs, glow
sticks, lighters and their mobile phones.

Sarah
joined in and screamed as loud as she possibly could. Her attempt
got lost in the screams and hollers of all the other fans around
her. Blake joined her in cheering.

"I can't
hear you. Who wants to join us on stage?" Johnny asked one more
time.

The
crowd went even wilder this time around

Everyone got their tickets? Would the owner of the following
ticket please come up. Section one-twenty, row nine, seat two,"
Johnny called out.

Sarah

s eyes widened as she realized
the winner was in her area. Looking around, she tried to see who
the lucky fan was.

Sarah, that

s your seat. You won. Look at
your ticket,” Blake told her.

Her seat
had been called. She couldn't believe it. When she got the ticket
from Blake, she hadn't really paid much attention to where they
were sitting. All that mattered to her was the fact that she would
be at the show and with him. The night was getting even better than
she'd expected. Suddenly, a spotlight shone on the section she was
sitting in and a middle-aged female security guard came over,
looked at her ticket, then escorted her down.

The
arena continued to cheer as she made her way up onto the stage
where the band waited.

"Congratulations," Johnny said.

One of
the crew members appeared on stage from behind her and handed her a
microphone. Sarah glanced out into the sea of people before her.
Flashlights from cameras and phone's went off all the way to the
top section. Glow sticks and lights blanketed the crowd. The view
was amazing and, all together, overwhelming.

The beat
of the drums quieted.

"So who
do we have the honor of being with tonight?" Johnny asked
her.

"I'm
Sarah Wats," she said and waved to the fans as they continued to
cheer.

"Welcome, Sarah. You ready to help us finish off the night
with our last song
Scattered and
Faded
?"

A huge
smile spread across her face. This was unreal. She couldn't believe
she was standing next to Johnny Shore and joining him and the rest
of the band on stage for the encore of the night.

"Are you
serious?"

"The
show’s gotta’ finish off with a bang, and I'm very
serious."

The beat
of the drums started once again and she watched as Johnny plucked
away at the strings of his guitar. His eyes focused on the fans in
front of him and not once on his instrument.

Sara
turned around and looked at the other band members. She wanted to
take it all in since this would probably the first and last time
she’d ever get this opportunity of a lifetime.

I won't let you watch me waste away while I chase after
nothing."

"Keep fighting for someone who's lost all faith."

"Taken away the honesty of life."

Sarah
joined in one line and then the next.

You promised me you'd never run away from what we
had."

"I loved you with everything."

"The good and bad."

Through
the music, she could still hear the crowd cheering and singing
along with the band. Word for word, they sang the lines without
missing a beat; like her, they were having the time of their
lives.

After a
few more lines, all the television screens around them changed the
image from what was going on at the stage to shots of the people
around the venue. Suddenly, Johnny stopped singing.

"Ladies
and gentlemen, tonight is a very special night. Not just because of
the contest. Would you all look up at the screens for
me?"

With
curiosity, the crowd of fans, including Sarah, glanced up toward
the giant screens where raindrops were falling faster and faster.
Suddenly, the rain began turning into red hearts. They slowly began
to swirl around like a tornado, then suddenly stopped. As they
fell, they began to form words.

WILL YOU
MARRY ME SARAH WATS?

LOVE
BLAKE

Sarah
stood, unsure if she’d read the writing correctly.

Another
spotlight shone on the side of the stage, and she saw Blake with a
ring box in his hand. He smiled with each step that led him closer
to where she stood.

This was
actually happening. Blake was proposing to her tonight at the
concert. Right in front of the thousands of people watching
them.

Her
heart beat increased. Her legs felt like they were turning into
jelly.

He
arrived and reached for her hand, and she watched as he got down on
one knee.

"Sarah,
I can't imagine my life without you. Will you make me the luckiest
man in the world and be my wife?" he said as he took the sparkling
diamond ring out of the little white box and slipped it on her
finger.

She'd
dreamt about this moment just like every woman. Thought about when
the time would come. When the man of her dreams would sweep her off
her feet. When he would get down on his knee and ask her to marry
him. She thought about how it would happen. Would it be
spontaneous, traditional or just as romantic as in the
movies?

It never
crossed her mind that Blake would plan all this and propose to her
at a concert. She loved it.

"Of
course I will," she replied.

The
moment Blake stood up she threw herself in his arms and captured
his lips for a kiss.

Whatever
happened after that was nonexistent. All she could focus on was the
man in her arms. The one she would spend the rest of her life
with.

CHAPTER THREE

Present
time...

The sound of the alarm beeping
signaled
the
arrival of five a.m. Time to wake up and get dressed. She wished
she could have a few more minutes of sleep. Exhaustion blanketed
her.
That's
what you get when you spend
half the night worrying whether you've done everything for a
wedding that's only a few hours away
. No
matter how many times she'd gone over the details in her head, she
still couldn't help but worry. Could anyone blame her? It was only
the most important day of her and Blake's life.

Eyes
still shut, she rolled over and turned off the alarm clock. Today,
hitting the snooze button was not even an option. She looked at the
empty space on the other side of the bed and placed her hand on
it.

They'd
decided they would spend the night before the wedding apart. She
didn't believe in superstitions, but she still wanted to do it.
Them being away from one another would make her walk down the aisle
all the more special. A fresh beginning to their new life as
husband and wife. A new start to their future.

Sarah
tossed the covers and got out of bed. Today, every minute counted.
She had to meet the hairdresser in a little over an hour and get
her makeup done before getting into her gown. She still wanted to
stop by the church to check out how the final decorations
looked.

The
sudden beeping of her phone startled her. The red light flickered
signaling a message. Probably her maid of honor, Sue, calling to
see if she was up and getting ready to meet her at the salon. She'd
promised to make sure the day would run like a finely-tuned Swiss
watch.

Sarah
reached for the phone and dialed into her messaging service. After
keying in her password, she put the phone on speaker.

You have one new message. To listen, press one," the machine
informed her.

The sound of Blake

s voice made her heart
leap with joy.

"Hi, baby. I guess I missed you this morning. You're probably
in the shower getting ready to head out to the salon. I just wanted
to call and tell you I missed not being with you last night. I
tossed and turned. All I could think about is how much I missed
looking into your beautiful, brown eyes. Not having you next to me
felt empty. I know we decided to spend the night apart, but I
thought I would never fall asleep. At one point, I was going to get
up and get dressed to drive over there to the apartment. I missed
you so much and I can't wait to see you today. In just a few hours
you will be my wife, and we will officially be Mr. And Mrs.
Gibson. I love how that sounds, calling you my
wife. I love you so much, Sarah. I'm the luckiest man in the
world."

"End of
messages. To erase, press seven; to save, press nine," the
messaging service instructed.

Blake
thought he was the luckiest man, and she considered herself the
luckiest woman to have found an amazing man like him. He was
everything she could ever want and more. He completed her and was
the missing piece she'd waited all her life to find. To think she'd
almost lost him after that rainy cab ride home.
