Vivian made a soft noise against David’s lips. He quickly recognized her unspoken plea. “I want to make love to you, my dear,” he whispered as he slowly pulled away from Vivian. “But we have removed your veil. Alas, this is not the time or the place.”

The intense disappointment Vivian felt when she heard David’s words made her pause and think her next move over very carefully. With the same trust, respect and now affection, which had made her decision to give her services exclusively to him, she also knew she wanted to experience making love without the veil covering her face with David and no other. “I beg to differ, my lord. Remember who you are dealing with. I am the Vauxhall Vixen. I am a
shrew,
I have my own special methods and my own style. In this instance I have a craving for you with or without my veil. I need you now, come to your Vixen.”

Placing herself directly in front of David, she quickly loosened the string at his waistband and then untied the falls at one side. The front closure fell away, revealing David’s drawers. Only then did she stop and look up at her masked companion.

“I am at your mercy, my Vixen,” he murmured gruffly and then immediately belied his serious tone by grinning down at Vivian. He caught her gloved hand in his own and placed the French letter on her palm.

She untied the silk cord on David’s drawers and released his swollen cock. Vivian took a moment to admire its size before slipping the casing down over his hard shaft.

She wrapped her hand tightly around his sheathed penis. David’s answering groan when he felt her firm touch served as the impetus to action. The knowledge that he was truly at her mercy gave her a feeling of power that was more seductive than any aphrodisiac.

Vivian quickly reached down with her free hand and gathered the fabric from the front of her gown. Lifting the material up to her thighs, she gave David a tempting view of her long, stocking-covered legs.

“Allow me one moment, my dear.” David secured the gown underneath Vivian’s left arm. Then he clasped her other hand and switched places, allowing her to recline with her back against the arch. He leaned down and kissed her hungrily and open-mouthed. Vivian eagerly returned David’s passionate kisses while she reached down to stroke his hard penis. She could not stifle the sigh of regret as he lifted his head away from hers. Vivian dropped her hand to her side. However, her sorrow was short-lived as David reached down and slowly guided his hard cock into her wet, hot pussy.

Vivian delighted in the sensations that flowed throughout her body as David’s penis entered her canal. His arms wrapped around her waist and he lifted her just slightly off the ground for easier penetration.

“Please, David, I want you to push harder,” she gasped.

David stared intently into Vivian’s eyes through the slits in his mask. Suddenly his mouth twisted into a crooked grin. “You are a Vixen, my dear. I will gladly give you what you are asking for.”

One quick push from his penis and Vivian once again marveled at the wondrous sensation of David’s cock buried inside her. She moved her hips slowly up and down as intense feelings of desire coursed throughout her body.

Her action must have been more than appropriate. David responded by matching her motions with his own firm thrusts as he kissed her passionately and open-mouthed.

With her back braced against the arch, Vivian used the support to her benefit, slowly moving her hands underneath his shirt, over his muscular chest to his sensitive, hard nipples.

Vivian felt David’s cock dilate inside her cunt. His movements suddenly became more frenzied and he grunted softly against her mouth. Vivian felt the hunger once more and her body seemed to be on fire. The next moment, a heady wave of sensation flowed over her and she called out David’s name. Seconds later, with one final thrust, David released his semen into the sleeve that was encased inside her canal.

Breathing heavily, David and Vivian stood without speaking, their arms wrapped around each other. They each noted the sounds of the night around them—a softly hooting owl, the muted strains of music, the subdued voices of the couples inhabiting the nearby supper boxes.

David gradually loosened his hold on Vivian and cupped her chin in his hand. She lifted her face to look into his eyes. No other woman had ever made him feel this way—so comfortable, so at peace with himself—while at the same time, allowing him to experience a passion so intense and profound that there was no need to yearn for anything or anyone else to make his life complete. He had to see more of her. “I must request you for my own tomorrow night and many nights to come, my dear.”

Vivian stared silently up at David for several moments. She must choose her next words with care. Lost in thought, she took a small step backward and reached down to attempt to put her gown to rights. This accomplished to her satisfaction, she gazed at David once more. Vivian remained quiet while he finished adjusting his breeches. She spoke quickly when she had his attention once again.

“I must tell you, David, I am finished being the Vauxhall Vixen,” she said soberly. “I received a letter from my father today. The daughter of one of his close friends has passed away suddenly. He now regrets his denial of my existence and wishes to acknowledge me. He has informed both his countess and my mother of his decision. A letter from my mother was also enclosed in the packet. She expresses her wish that I return to
Huntgate
as soon as possible.”

“I have decided to return home and to accept the earl’s acknowledgement. My heart was never really in this scheme to become a famous courtesan.” Vivian stopped and looked away from David. “It has been only two nights since I have met you but you have changed me in that short time. I have experienced romance and passion that I had thought never to know at my advanced age. I know in my heart that I cannot perform my services for any other gentleman now that I have known you. And because I have not saved enough money to purchase a cottage, I will return to my father with the hope that he will allow my mother and me to live independently in a house on his estate.”

Silence greeted Vivian’s statements. Then David’s polished Hessians came into view and she raised her head to meet his intent gaze. He had removed his mask. The string dangled loosely in his hand against one thigh. “Sweet Vivian, have you not heard what I have been speaking of since we have met? Yes, we were fated to meet and yes, we certainly have a connection. But you are also the woman of my dreams, both literally and figuratively. I intend to escort you to your father’s estate. Once there, although in this instance it is certainly only a formality, I will ask him for his permission to pay my addresses to you.”

Vivian stood frozen in disbelief as she heard David’s words. A sudden feeling of lightheadedness came over her as she thought over what he had said to her. Just as quickly, she mentally rebuked herself for her foolishness and vowed to quickly clear up the misunderstanding. “You must forgive me, David, but there seems to be some confusion. I am in London plying a trade that makes me little better than a doxy. I am five years older that you, a spinster in many people’s eyes. Until today, I was an unrecognized child of an earl. You are a peer of the realm. You have an old family name to uphold, an estate to manage and a nursery to fill. You cannot mean what you are saying to me.”

“I most definitely desire what I have just declared to you, Vivian. The flower seller told me that the aster flowers I purchased for you last evening were a symbol of love. At first, I was hesitant to give you flowers with such a meaning. However, even at that point I knew that we had a special bond of affection between us and I resolved to present the flowers to you. I now know I love you with all my heart and soul. I want to experience life and love with you. Your mother is welcome to reside with us or, if she prefers, she may live in a cottage on one of my other properties. If I should die without an heir, I have a cousin who will most competently fill my shoes. However, I have no qualms about your ability to bear a child. I know I will greatly enjoy the endeavor.” David smiled warmly and raised her gloved hand to his lips. “I would change nothing about you, my dear. Please say that you will be mine.”

As he released her hand, Vivian lowered her head so that David would not see the tears forming in her eyes. “You can promise me all these things but my recent actions and the stigma surrounding my birth can never be changed. You cannot marry a woman whose mother gave birth to her out of wedlock and who worked as a housemaid. You cannot blot your family history and title by wedding a woman who has recently lived in a house of ill repute.”

David studied Vivian’ bowed head for a moment before reaching down and placing his hand under her chin. When she slowly raised her head, he could make out small droplets of moisture dangling from her eyelashes. He moved his free hand up to wipe the tears away.

“I wish to explain something to you, my dear,” he began gravely as he gently rubbed the soft skin underneath her chin with his fingers. “Many of my so-called friends, who are also peers of the realm, tell me that I am very independent and a dull dog. I often refuse to join them when they carouse around London drinking, gambling and whoring most of the night and then sleeping the days away.

“Eventually these gentlemen will marry.
Women who have been chosen for them at birth or if they are short of funds, an heiress who can replenish their family coffers so they may spend it in nights of revelry.
Naturally, only once their heir has been safely produced.

“I am different from these men. Conveniently, I have no preordained document from my birth telling me whom I must marry. I have no living family members—other than the cousin I mentioned—who will make it their mission to advise me on the best choice for my bride. I am free to make my own choice. I choose you, sweet Vivian, the intelligent, bold and sensual woman of my dreams. Your background and your lodgings in London are of concern to me only as part of an illustration of the person you are. Our love and devotion to each other will sustain us through any unpleasantness from the malicious, gossiping gentlemen and women of the

in the future.”

As he dropped his hand from her chin, Vivian laughed joyously and propelled herself forward into David’s open arms. “I love you so much, David. Your words make me glad for the many hardships that I struggled with in my lifetime and proud of the type of woman I have become. I will gladly spend the rest of my life at your side as your wife.” She caressed his cheek. “And, of course, I will always be your enchanting Vixen!”
