All their frustration, their hunting, their sacrifices paid off at last.

“Bro?”

Once again, silence met Micah.
Very well.
It would be easier to work with Kasa without Slade’s insatiable hunger butting into the mix. The man was horny practically every waking moment.

Not that Micah wasn’t hurting his own fair share.

He lifted the lid on the solid chest and pawed around the contents. Books, CDs, female accessories. Nothing that would shed light on her strategy of hunting down the Dark Moon rebels. He suspected Jordan might keep all the important documents, but somehow, the wolf in him believed his mate required her own backup.

When he found it, he’d destroy it. Kasa would no longer be putting herself out for those lunatics to pounce on.

The lock on the bathroom door clicked, and the door hinges creaked. Micah glanced over his shoulder as he slid open the drawer to the nightstand. Kasa emerged from the bathroom and stood in the short hallway. The profound, and delightful, sight of his mate stole his breath, and he helplessly stared. Her dark hair clung to bare shoulders, thick locks snaking down her toned arms. Her creamy flesh held an alluring hint of rose, a color he pictured would cover her when
he
brought her to climax. Her slender fingers clenched the towel at her breast. Not even the terrycloth could hide the full swells from the eyes of a hunter.

He being said hunter.

Kasa’s head snapped to the side and her amber eyes landed on him. Her plump lips parted on a breath a moment before she stormed over to him.

“Get away from there,” she growled, slapping his hand from the knob. The corner of Micah’s mouth curled into a dark grin. He let out a small chuckle. Kasa’s lip pulled back in a scowl. “Don’t snoop around my room. I know jack about you and I don’t want you in my private area.”

“What do you want to know about me? Slade introduced me after your engagement on the kitchen table. You know we’re your mates, from what he told me after you ran off to shower. Your brother placed you in our care at the conclusion of my talk with him before coming here. The arrangement is set. What more is there to know?”

Her jaw stiffened. Her lips drew into a tight line. Her knuckles paled as her fingers fisted around the towel even more. His grin widened. He reached out and combed a damp chunk of hair away from her breathtaking eyes. She blinked once, twice. The stubborn tension in her expression drained. She pressed her cheek into his open palm and sighed. Ah, yes. She knew her place with him. The wolf never mistakes it mate.

“Why are you in my room?” Kasa asked. Micah groaned inward as the sensual husk in her voice tingled down his spine. He’d managed to douse his raging hunger only to relive the pain from a short while before. His cock stretched against his jeans, the metal zipper pressing into his sensitive erection.

“Getting to know you,” he murmured, brushing his thumb over her lips. “Small place you have here.”

“I don’t require a mansion. Just a few hundred acres of running grounds to play on.” She lifted her free hand to the back of his and pressed her face firmly against him.

Somehow, he doubted Kasa didn’t need more. The brief glance he stole of her closet earlier held more clothes than any woman’s he ever had a passing affair with. The books in the chest had been romances. She had home living magazines tucked into the mix. There were no pictures, artwork, or anything that would lend an air of comfort to this place. Her parents had been killed, like all the infant whites’ parents in Hood River on that fateful evening, leaving her a babe in the care of an adolescent Jordan.

“You need a home, sweetheart. Not a house with land that holds no boundaries.” Kasa closed her eyes. Micah drew her closer to him, wanting nothing more than to hold her. “There is a wealth of freedom to be had through other means. Taking to the wild in search of something to fill an emptiness inside you will eventually get you hurt.”

“You speak as if you know this personally,” she murmured. Her hand splayed over his chest, the tips of her fingers molding along his pec.

There was something terribly sad, terribly vulnerable, about his mate at that moment. It caused the protective beast in him to rear. His chest swelled with a heaviness he’d never experienced before. Always so cold, so aloof, this subtle warming startled him. Her innocent exploration along his pecs begged him to forgo duty to spare her feelings. He suspected only his mate could soften his steeled resolve, but so soon?

Micah cleared his throat. Now wasn’t the time to soften. Not until he leashed his wild white wolf.

He grabbed the knob on the nightstand drawer again and slid it open. The sudden shift in his attention jolted the little woman from her calm. Kasa’s eyes flew open as she looked up at him then turned her gaze to the nightstand. She twisted out of his arm and stumbled between him and the drawer, viciously swatting his hand away. Micah arched a brow as she tried to close the drawer with her hip.

“Bastard,” she spat. “That’s none of your business!”

“What are you hiding?” He watched the rose in her cheeks darken, the grim line of her mouth whiten, and the golden light of her eyes smolder with an erotic secret. The air suddenly thickened and a new scent struck him hard, sending his senses into overload.

“Damn, woman. You’re fucking aroused.”

A deep, threatening rumble touched his ears. The sexually charged sound piqued his own desires. Ribbons of emotions curled through her eyes as they lowered to his mouth.

“You’re blushing profusely. I’m tempted to bring you outside for a cooldown.”

“Shut up.”

Kasa shoved him in the chest, but not even her surprising strength could move him. It only caused the towel to loosen around her. She grappled for the end, shifting away from him as the towel slipped. Micah chuckled, not wanting to miss her cute little jig, but turned to the drawer. She’d been fierce in her stand to keep him away. From the corner of his eyes, he noticed one end of the towel fall over the floor. He turned enough to catch a glimpse of her perfectly round ass at the bottom of a narrow waist and paths of fine muscles along her back. She shot him a death-look, one that merely succeeded in teasing his hungry wolf rather than frightening him.

Nothing frightened Micah Castrove.

His fingertips snagged on something cool and unusual. Reluctant to turn away from the beauty only a few feet from him, he looked down at the drawer.

There, poking out from beneath a pile of miscellaneous knickknacks, was a bright blue bulbous shaft.

“Micah!” Kasa grabbed his arm in an attempt to stay him, but her efforts came a little too late. Her gaze dropped to his findings as he withdrew the secret object and held it up between them.

“You’re a naughty one, are you?” He couldn’t help the smile that took over his mouth. Kasa’s face reddened, that lush color spreading down to her chest. Her jaw worked overtime, teeth grinding behind tightly closed lips. He turned the artificial cock over and briefly examined the dial on the bottom. The hot tension and embarrassment that pulsed off the woman next to him made his own cock throb. He looked at her from beneath his lashes. “Tell me, how does it feel? Better than the real thing?”

Her nostrils flared, but her eyes darkened. He inhaled the sweet scent of her increasing arousal despite the dizzying glances she made between the vibrating dildo and him. He caught the slightest of tremors touching her arms.

He wagged the cock between them slowly, teasing her. She snatched the object from his fingers, tossed it in the drawer, and slammed the drawer shut. The simple lamp tipped precariously on its round bottom then rocked until it settled back in place.

Kasa spun on him, knocking his shoulder with a fist.

“Get out.” She scowled.

Micah straightened up. He caught her arm on her next attempt to shove him and yanked her flush against his body. Securing her with a tight arm around her waist, he practically growled his pleasure. Warmth emanated from her bare skin. The delicate scent of flowers filled his nostrils without covering the heady scent of her fierce arousal. She didn’t fight him as he expected, but her lips remained frozen in a firm line and fire sparked beneath the mist in her eyes.

This woman was his poison, and he’d barely shared a short conversation with her.

“Your play things aside, little Kasa, remember you gave your word not to pursue the Dark Moon hideaway. Understand one thing. I do not take broken words lightly.” Micah drew his knuckles over her cheek. “You will never have reason to fear us. Never. But Slade and I are not to be crossed, especially when it involves our mate.”

“You will not restrain me. I’ve fought long enough for some independence from my brother,” Kasa grated. He lowered his fingers to her lips and traced the generous curves, imprinting their soft pliability into his mind. Those lips would be his to taste and nibble, to toy and suckle. They would kiss his mouth and slide around his cock. Every second he touched her, she softened against him, molding to his form. “You may be my mate, but you are still a stranger to me.”

“Do you often allow strangers to tear off your shorts and slide their dick through your pussy?” Micah asked. A shudder shot through her. “Do you have any idea what it’s taking me not to throw you on the bed and fuck you? You don’t know how sweet you smell right now. You don’t know what months of tracking you, crossing your scent only to lose it again, have done to us. You don’t know what we’ve done to keep you safe while wondering when we’d finally reach you.”

“I can’t let you get in my way,” Kasa murmured. He clenched his teeth, grounding himself in light of her comment. She had no idea what he’d do to keep her safe, what he and Slade had already done.

“Trust me, sweetheart. We’re not going to be in your way.” He dipped his head and brushed his lips across hers. The airy motion ignited the fire in his blood and it rushed to his already agonizing cock. “You’ll never want us to
leave
.”

Kasa could barely stand. Her legs had turned to proverbial mush. The insides of her thighs were slick with juices from her overheated pussy. She wanted to reach down and stroke her aching clit and ease the mounting pressure.

No, I want Micah’s hands on me, his fingers inside me.

She pressed up on her toes and into his teasing kiss. She wanted him like she never wanted another. The dark, handsome image of the man plundering her mouth with his skilled tongue weakened her further. She dove her fingers into the silky strands of his dark hair and arched her hips against the hard bulge in his pants.

Everything about Micah Castrove was hard like fortified steel, right down to his personality. Yet, somehow, she detected a crack here, a split there. His hands spread over her back, touching every inch of her, sending her nerve endings into a tingling frenzy. She drank in the rustic, spiced flavor of his mouth and wanted more. Craved more. His kiss affected her differently than Slade’s had. His spirit entwined with hers, consumed her thoughts, her wonders, her fears until all she could sense was Micah, strong and hot and all around her.

A low rumble reverberated through her mouth from the depths of Micah’s chest. His kiss switched from slow and exploratory to greedy. She followed his lead, feeding into the heady kiss, clutching his head between her hands and pulling him closer still.

“Tell me to touch you.”
Micah’s raspy demand unfurled in her mind. She arched her heavy breasts against his chest. Her nipples hardened as the terrycloth scraped over the sensitive flesh.

“Touch me. Everywhere. I’m hurting,”
she whimpered. Dropping her hands from his soft hair and linking her arms around his neck, she pulled herself onto him and locked her ankles behind his waist. Micah caught her rear, fitting her precisely against the thick mound in his jeans.

Her back hit the wall. She gasped when Micah pulled back with a groan. His pale blue eyes glowed in the dimly lit room, the churning power of his desire painting a fierceness across his expression. Kasa tried to swallow, but her throat had gone dry. Her lips throbbed from the hungry kiss. She leaned forward, his mouth her target. He slipped a single finger between them and tsked.
