Duke

"Stop pushing it, it's not fucking going in!" We'd
been at it for the past hour and weren't any closer to constructing the swing.
"Fucking Chinese shit," Diesel threw one of the poles across the yard,
it bounced and came to a standstill in front of a pushchair. Ink raised her
brows and looked between the pole and Diesel.
He held up his hands, "Sorry babe I'm just bloody frustrated."
"You don't say," rolling her eyes she steered the buggy around the
pole and towards the benches.
"Haha! You're in trouble!" I whispered.
"Fuck off!" he stated in response as we made our way over to the seating
area.
"Buster, Cade see what you can do with that shit." I pointed to the
mess we'd made in the corner of the yard. With the ever growing family of the
Aces and the amount of children we had between us now, I'd thought it best to
create an area where the kids could play. The guy's had already dug out the
area and covered it with bark to make it child friendly but the play equipment
had turned up today and although I was keen to construct it myself, I knew when
to face defeat.

"Good afternoon," I glanced in the direction of
the voice to see Ash and Lauren strolling through the yard pushing buggies. It
also looked like they'd been shopping from the amount of bags I could see.
"I'm sure you just wanted a baby so that his buggy was a convenient place
to hang shopping bags!"
"Ooh you're gonna be in trouble now!" Diesel sniggered.
Ash placed her hands on her hips, "Yeah I thought I'd put up with the
sleepless nights, stretch marks and the constant smell of sick just so I didn't
have to carry my bags!"
"Okay, okay touchy I was only joking babe," I strolled towards her
with my cockiest grin, I knew she couldn't resist me when I was in playful
mood. Grabbing her around the waist I pulled her closer to my body and bent
down to nuzzle her neck. My cock immediately stood to attention and prodded her
in the stomach.
"Duke get off!" She squealed.
"No!" I bit and nipped her neck playfully making her squirm in my
arms.
"Duke I'm warning you," she chastised through fits of giggles.
"Oh I love it when you get all moody," I nipped her neck again.
Ash pulled back creating some space between us as my little man started to make
noises bringing me into the here and now.
I turned towards the pushchair, "Oh were mummy and daddy having fun so you
wanted to join in?" I leaned in and gently pulled Junior out along with
his blanket. "And how's my precious boy?" I placed a kiss on his
cheek and breathed in his scent. I loved his smell, it was of baby shampoo and
talcum powder, it was my happy smell. Junior babbled away as he dribbled, I
used his bib to mop up the mess as he was teething and I didn't fancy it
decorating my clothes.

"Who wants a drink?" Silo asked placing a heavily
loaded tray onto the table.
He'd proved himself to be a good addition to the club. Ramsey was patched at
Christmas after being a prospect for just over a year. We named him Silo which
was a play on words and incorporating his love for Arsenal. Being a yid there
was no way I'd play homage to that club so we ruled out any direct connection
but a Silo is an underground chamber in which guided missiles are kept ready
for firing and he'd proved he was worthy of that name with the work he did in
the Midlands. He was now a proud father and although Theo wasn't biologically
his, no one would know any difference.

"Done it!"
"How the fuck did they manage that?" Diesel asked standing and making
his way over to a proud looking Cade and Buster.
I glanced over to the play area to see a beautifully constructed swing and let
out a loud sigh, "I'm obviously getting too old for this shit!"
"But that's what's great about this club Duke, young, old, damaged, fixed,
educated, not, privilege, poor. Having all of those people together is what
makes this club work and why it is so successful. Well that's what I think
anyway." Lauren looked a little embarrassed from her outburst and the fact
that she'd now gained everyone's attention.
But she was right, the combination of all our characteristics and skills worked
well, and with a new generation being born, I was feeling positive about the
future.

I didn't come here often, I didn't
need to sit beside a grave to talk to him. Locke was with me all the time, in
my thoughts in my memories. It had now been a couple of months since he was
taken from us but it hadn't got any easier. He wasn't blood but I was the
closest he had to family and our bond was strong and our connection ran deep.
We'd formed a friendship shortly after we met, I was attending an open event at
the clubhouse. They'd invited local supporters and hang around's of the club to
see who may have the attributes to be a prospect. I'd considered it for some
time before I left the army as I knew that I would need a sense of belonging
from somewhere.

"Oi you little
fucker!" I heard someone yell in the distance. As I glanced from my newspaper,
I noticed a young lad wearing a light grey tracksuit and baseball cap running
towards me with a guy in his twenties taking chase. The guy chasing was a
member of the Aces, highly visible because of the cut he was wearing. He was a
big guy but had some speed on him and was making ground quickly.
As the young lad passed me I out stretched my legs and clipped his foot, it
stopped his momentum and I watched as he stumbled before he crashed hard
skidding across the ground. He eventually came to a standstill and groaned as
he held his side.
The guy from the Aces brought back his leg and kicked the teenager hard in his
stomach, he screamed in pain and tried to roll over and scramble to his feet
but the bloke bent down and grabbed the material of his t-shirt around his
neck, "Give me the fucking drugs back or the money."
"Okay okay, I've got the drugs," the bloke tightened his grip
twisting the material around the lads neck. He scrambled in his pocket and
brought out a large transparent bag, I could see the tiny wraps of white powder
as the guy snatched it.

I heard a siren,
"Fuck!" The man shouted looking at the bag in his hand.
"Throw it here mate," he glanced in my direction and narrowed his
eyes before he threw it to me as he didn't have much of a choice.
I crossed my legs concealing the bag between my thighs and opened my newspaper
distancing myself from the two men in front of me.

"Let him go now," the
order came from the officer as he stepped onto the the pavement releasing his
batten.
The man released the lads t-shirt and stood tall holding his arms out to his
sides. "Good morning O'Neil, it's been a while how are you?"
"Don't talk to me you piece of shit. Spread your legs!" The officer
stepped forward and patted him down, while the other officer searched his
pockets. "Have you got anything on you that you shouldn't?"
"Nah man I'm clean," he allowed the police officers to search him
seeming accustom to the routine.
"He's clean O'Neil," the officer rolled his eyes and seemed annoyed
that they hadn't found anything on him.
"Stay there you're not free to go yet." He stated boldly.
Both officers then turned their attention to the lad getting up from the
ground. "Do you have anything on you that you shouldn't?"
"No!" He held his arms out wide and was patted down by the younger officer.
"So what do we have here?" the young lad rolled his eyes as a clear
bag was pulled from his pocket containing what looked to be weed.
"
I am arresting you for possession of a
class B drug. You do not have to say anything but it may harm your defence if
you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court.
Anything you do say may be given in evidence." The officer moved the lads
arms behind his back and cuffed him before walking him over to the police car.
O'Neil turned to the bloke wearing the Aces patch, "I'll get you, just you
wait I'll get you."
"Yeah good luck with that mate." The guy smiled and stood with his
hands on his waist as the young lad was put into the back of the police car. He
removed his hand and waved as the police car drove past. "Fucking
mugs," he said aloud before turning towards me. "Cheers mate I owe
you for that," he walked towards me and joined me on the bench.
"Not a problem," I uncrossed my legs to free the bag and handed it
over to him.
"Thank you," he took it and stuffed it into his pocket. "I'm
Locke and you are?"
"Caleb!"
He extended his hand for me to shake, "Well Caleb it's nice to meet
you."

I remember that day as if it were
yesterday, in fact that day pretty much cemented our friendship. He knew that
he could trust me and that was the basis of his mentoring over the next year as
he sponsored me into the club.

"Right it's that time we've
been waiting for mate." I pulled my jacket sleeve up and glanced at my
watch, "I leave in half an hour." I let out a sigh and instinctively
took Locke's knife from the sheaf attached to my belt and twirled it in my
hand.
"Everything is in place, a few of the guys are coming with me for support
but ultimately it's my shout. I've told Duke I'm in charge although I'll report
everything back to him." I sniggered, "You can imagine how that went
down but fuck him, you were my mate not his." I let out a loud sigh,
"The real reason I came here was to say that I promise you one thing Locke,
I will get the revenge you sought even if it's the last thing I do."
