Melody’s suggestion seemed to upset Melissa a little.  Her eyes were darting about and she even turned to her dad and asked, “Hum, perhaps you or Jon or David can help me with the seating, and hum, you know, keep everyone . . . hum, you know civil and hum happy.”

Melody looked at her daughter oddly, and thought she heard another growl erupt from Sabastian’s throat as yet another couple and two single men came through the door and headed toward them.

Jonathan J smiled at the guests and nodded.  Taking Melissa’s arm while pulling her away he stated, “Sam, if you care to join us we’ll be heading to the dining room now.”  He gave his brother a look and Jonathan gave David a look as David had stopped at the dining room door and was looking at them all.  David immediately nodded he understood.

Sabastian flanked Melissa’s other side as her dad escorted her into the large, formal and very regal dining hall.  It was the one used only for parties and was more a ball room with tables arranged into a “U” shape, so everyone could see everyone else.

There were colorful place cards on the table with names elegantly done in gold lettering with a photo of Earth that was taken from the Hubble telescope as the artwork on the placard.

All the men seated stood as Melissa entered the room.  Sabastian was distressed that Melissa was seated at the center table at the top of the “U”.  He had been given a place two seats down on the next table from her’s, but he did have a good seat, he decided as he sat down.  After turning to his left he observed her dad bend down and whisper something in her ear.  Whatever it was it made her smile, then laugh.  He kissed her temple and took his own seat two over from hers.  Melody would be sitting beside her daughter, Jonathan on Melissa’s other side, he would be beside Melody and then David and his wife beside Jonathan.

Sabastian had a feeling that this party with an over abundance of single males was their way of letting Melissa look over the offerings, so to speak.  He didn’t like it one bit, not one tiny bit.  Especially when he could see the clearly eager expressions on all the men’s faces as they gazed wantonly at Melissa, and that blatantly.  Before he could stop it, a low growl came forth.

Another growl was also heard by his especially sensitive and gifted ears.  This time it came from the far end of the table.  Sabastian turned his head to the right and was astonished to find a fellow Zileanian also in attendance.  This one was a full-blooded mating age male, where he was just a half blooded Zileanian from his father’s side.  He was a little older than Sabastian and almost salivating as he stared straight at their hostess, eyeing all her obvious feminine attributes.

Sabastian was ever so glad that Melissa was part Modest, as were all true H’traeians.  Her evening dress though lovely and modern with a high neck and lace sleeves couldn’t hide her beautiful body completely.  He sat wishing for all he was worth that the woman would go change into a H’traeian formal long robe for this party, instead of sitting there for all to see her fantastic shape by the formfitting clothes.

Her wondrous pheromone scents were plucking at every male hormone in his whole body, playing him like he was a violin and her scent was the bow.  He struggled with himself to remain sane, as he fought her womanness calling him, while sniffing the air at the same time to absorb just a bit more.  It was intoxicating and nearly making him lose himself in the calling of her body to his and his soul to try and make hers his alone.

Melissa knew she had to get a grip.  Her normally low blood pressure had surely tipped the scale over into past stroke level for most humans.  She also couldn’t get her heart to slow to its normal forty beats per minute.  It was slamming her chest like a freight train.  The moment she looked into Sabastian’s eyes it had begun.  Every muscle in her body had tensed and her hormones had peaked to all new heights.   She won’t even think about what it had done to other feminine areas of her body.  Her face blushed a bright red as she picked up a napkin to fan herself, as discreetly as she could.

Looking up from the table her eyes first met Sabastian’s seating at the table to her right.  A tremble rippled throughout her whole body as they looked at each other.  She had to swallow several times to prevent herself from actually drooling right there, in front of everyone.  He was breathtaking!  His dark eyebrows were literally talking to her with them rising and lowering while his lips smiled and his eyes smoldered like lava.   Melissa could almost feel her own lips swell from the pressure of the kisses she was desiring from those handsome lips.

“Ooooohhhhh, mmmyyyy,” Melissa moaned low in her throat before her eyes were inexplicably drawn to the far end of the tables.  There sat another handsome man directly in front of her, who also caused her pulse to drum rather crazily. The look in the man’s eyes made her melt a little, right there in her seat.  She was becoming a puddle.  “Oh, for all the planets!” she mumbled to herself in exasperation while trying to look away.

She thought she heard a low growl come from Sabastian.  Looking back at him she saw he was staring at the same man sitting across from her at the end of the long “U” of the tables, and he was frowning.

Melissa tried to smile and give a look of appreciation to all their guests who were now almost all at table.

Another look back at Sabastian made her tremble, not with fear but with hunger.  “Oh my, oh my, oh my goodness!” she muttered in confused irritation.

Jonathan leaned toward her and asked, “Missy, can I help with anything?  What is possibly disturbing you?”

When she looked into her dad’s amused eyes she almost wanted to whop him with a plate.  She’d lost her mind while he actually seemed to be fighting a grin.  “Are you crazy Dad?  What’s so funny?”

“Why nothing, sweetheart.  But, I do believe this room filled with so many masculine pheromones as well as male essences are greatly disturbing my unbonded daughter.  Your eyes are being a deepening violet, my daughter.”

Before she could ask if that was a joke, her mom and Jonathan came breezing into the room.  The men all stood in honor as Jonathan assisted Melody to her seat.  Melody looked out and smiled at all their guests.  Her right hand gripped Melissa’s and gave it a good squeeze and a smile before she released it.

Jonathan rang a bell and announced the food and fellowship prayers of thanksgiving would commence.

After what seemed a shorter time than usual Melissa was being served her meal.

As she tried to put a bite of food onto her fork she noticed her hands were trembling.
Could things get worse?
she thought with irritation at her shaking fingers.  Putting down the fork she ended up gripping her wine glass so tightly that she fractured the stem.

Jonathan had noticed and replaced her glass with his and had the broken one removed.       Everyone seemed to be enjoying the meal.  Conversations seemed to flow smoothly all around the table.

Melissa was afraid to open her mouth, fearing she might upchuck right then and there.  Her silly ole stomach was suddenly doing a flip flop thingamajig that was totally alien to her.  She’d never been sick a day in her life.  She’d seen her mom suffer some morning sickness a few weeks back so she knew what this feeling was.  It was horrible.

She made the mistake of daring a peek at Sabastian.  His eyes were glued to her and he looked upset.  He started to get out of his seat, sat back down, repeated it and finally reigned himself in and remained in his seat, but he kept staring at her.   Didn’t even try to hide it.  She tried a shaky smile his way to let him think that things were all okay.

Jonathan called a servant over and whispered something.  He then leaned around Melody and whispered to Melissa, “They are bringing you a little something to help settle your nerves, sweetheart.  Take it all down with water and relax.”

She nodded and relaxed a little thankful there was perhaps a way to survive whatever was happening to her.

“Missy, don’t look at him.  That will help some.  Look at everyone else and smile,” Melody suggested whispering low.

The servant brought Jonathan the vial and he poured it inside a small cordial glass that the servant also delivered and passed it under the table to Melissa.

She set the small delicate glass on the table and before her trembling could take her over completely she sipped it every few minutes until the liquid was gone.

In just a few minutes she was in control of herself again.  Smiling with relief, she chanced another peek in Sabastian’s direction.  He was still watching her, carefully, his frown was lessening.  She looked at all her guests and began to hear some of the conversations for the very first time and started joining in when appropriate.

The dinner went well, with good conversation and everyone was made welcome.  Soon the meal was over and guests were swiftly led into the auditorium.  There were comfortable theater seats throughout.  The ladies kept everyone moving to an empty chair as the family men got ready for a short musical show.

Excitement was crackling in the air, for they all knew this was the famous Doctor David and the Renewals concert group.

The beat of primitive drums thundered through the air, swiftly followed by the scream of a steel guitar.  The curtains opened and the men, both Jonathans, David, Mark and even Zane came strutting out onto the stage instruments strumming and their voices blending into their old personas of being rock stars.

The family women all bounced up and down screaming with enthusiasm at the foot of the stage, like crazed groupies. They couldn’t help it.  Melissa was enthralled seeing her dads in the flesh singing like wild men.  Her brother wasn’t any slouch either she realized with loud giggles and her fists pumping in the air for more between her yell outs and shouts along with the other women.

The Jonathans sang the sexy songs straight to Melody.  David sang to
Elizabeth
.  Mark to Mary and Zane to his wife Sue.  Their eyes always seeking out their bonded mates.  It was touching to see the love in the men’s eyes as they sang to the gals.

Once Melissa turned and found Sabastian and about a half dozen men standing right behind her, Sabastian the nearest.  She grinned at them thinking they were excited over the male singers and wanted to get a closer look, but then she noticed they were to a man grinning at her.  Blushing brightly and hoping her trembles wouldn’t return she tugged her mom’s arm and motioned behind her.

Melody saw the swarm of males standing behind Melissa.  She quickly tugged on Mary’s sleeve and
Elizabeth
’s arms and suggested they all get ready for their part of the show.  That would also give Melissa a break from the wonton males in their mist.

After waving bye to their onstage men the ladies all smiled broadly at the suitors as the women encircled Melissa and headed for the small backstage dressing room.

Elizabeth
could barely stop laughing once the dressing room door was closed and the girls began to dress for their stage performance.

“Well, Missy, I guess you know what being Stirred is now, don’t you?”
Elizabeth
asked her dear friend and sister-in-law.

“It’s horrible!” was Melissa’s impassioned response.

Mary looked at her and asked, “Who’s the future groom?”

Melissa sighed then burst into tears.     Hovering over her all the females tried to calm her and get her to share what was happening to her.

“I’m pretty sure it’s Sabastian.  But I get a weird feeling when I look at that other man who sat at the end of the table too.  Though not as badly as I do with Sabastian.” Melissa looked worriedly at her mom and friends.

“You mean that man who was having a growling battle with Sabastian?”
Elizabeth
asked with a smirk.

Melody asked once Melissa nodded it was, “What’s with the growl stuff anyway? I was startled but Jon kept whispering it was alright, it was normal for male Zileanians, and not to worry, he wouldn’t allow any fighting in the house.”
