“You done yet?” Rock asked causing me to look up at him.

“What you mean am I done yet?”

“I mean if you done then you can go ahead and leave too.” He walked over to the door and opened it.

“Are you fuckin’ serious right now?”

“Damn right I’m serious! You out herr fighting over other niggas and shit! I don’t rock like that ma. Ain’t no bitch bout to have me out herr looking stupid out her in these streets!” he yelled at me.

“Oh, so I’m a bitch now?”

“Shit, that’s how you actin! How the fuck that look? You ‘pose to be my girl but you out herr fighting over dick. You got me fucked up Kira. Look ma, it’s obvious you still got feelings for that nigga. Get yo’ shit together first then come fuck wit’ a nigga!” As long as Rock had been living in Cuthbert, his St. Louis accent wasn’t going anywhere.

“Rock, don’t act like that. It wasn’t even like that. I was betrayed and I blacked out!” I cried but Rock wasn’t hearing it. I never thought about the way he may feel about this shit. I couldn’t even be mad with him if he didn’t want to fuck with me no more.

“You got too much shit going, ma. Call me when you ready.” Rock was still holding the door open for me to leave, but I didn’t want to leave without him and Rahley. I wanted them to come and stay with me like they would normally do.

“So you and Rahley not coming over?”

“You ain’t ready for this shit Kira, and I ain’t fuckin wit you until I feel like you are.” I had no choice but to respect that. I walked out the door and jumped in my car. I sat there and cried and cried. I didn’t know how Rock’s baby mama had gotten out because I had her ass blocked in. She had to drive all through Rock’s grass to get out.
Scary hoe wasn’t even brave enough to tell me to move my car.
I started my car and pulled off.

I didn’t want to go home alone, and 96.3 didn’t make it any better by playing Tamar Braxton’s “All The Way Home”. I was about to lose a good nigga because a piece of me wouldn’t let go of Jay’Ceon’s cokehead ass. I cried even harder at the fact that he was now snorting. I needed to get my shit together so that I could make things right with Rock. It was obvious that he was where I needed to be, but my loose ends weren’t tied up just yet.

After a few hours of just driving, I had finally made it home. I had no one to talk to. Rock was mad at me. I just damn near killed Simone earlier, and I damn sho’ wasn’t fucking with Jay’Ceon. I didn’t want to call Taysia because I knew she was going through her own problems, especially after Mega had pulled that bullshit ass engagement over her head. I was still mad at Rock for not telling me that Mega had a girl. I couldn’t wait to get in the tub and relax in my bed. I had two Tylenol PM waiting on me in the medicine cabinet to cure the awful headache I gained from all this damn crying.

***

It was about 1:00 am when I was awakened by Future’s voice singing.

“Do you love the way I do, when I’m loving yo body.”

I damn near fell off the bed trying to grab my phone. That ringtone was set for Rock.

“Hello,” I said in my sleepy, sexy, raspy, voice.

“You don’t herr me outside this muthafucka knocking. Open the door.” He hung up. That accent was too damn sexy to me. I jumped out of bed and went to open the door. I was so happy to see him and Rahley asleep on his shoulder.

“Hey, why you got her out this late? Y’all should’ve just left with me when I left your house earlier.”

“Something important just came up, and I need to run somewherr for a minute. You mind if she stay herr with you?” he asked.

“No, she's good; go put her in the bed,” I told him.

“Thanks ma,” he said. I watched as he laid Rahley down in the bed in the guestroom then I followed him to the door. I grabbed him by his shirt.

“Hey, what about us?” I said. I just couldn’t accept the fact that he didn’t want to fuck with me like that no more.

“We’ll talk about it when I get back.” He kissed my forehead and walked out the door. That was good enough for me. I watched him jog to his car.

“Be safe!” I yelled to him. I didn’t know what was going on but in his line of work anything goes.

“Always ma!” I heard him yell as he jumped in the car and sped off.

CHAPTER 10

MEGA

“MAN FUCK!!!” I yelled and punched a hole in the wall of one of my trap houses. I had received a call from Chino and Dub saying that some niggas came through and took all my shit! I couldn’t believe a muthafucka was stupid enough to rob my shit!!! These niggas around here knew who the fuck I was and what I was capable of doing. I had to make an example out of somebody. If I let this shit slide, niggas would think I had fell off and shit like this was unacceptable. Somebody was about to bury their child. My mind was made the fucked up! I had already hit Rock up and he was on his way.

“They rushed in on us boss! Ain’t nobody have time to grab they heat! They took every thang! Dem niggas was four deep in all black with ski masks!” Chino said.

“I’ve been running shit over here since I was fourteen! These muthafuckas about to make me start getting my hands dirty!!! Niggas got me fucked up!!” I was beyond furious as I paced back and forth. It had been awhile since I put a nigga to sleep. My trigger finger was itching now. I was about to make a muthafucka feel that burn.
That iron will get a nigga mind right!
I thought.

“I know Boss! Don’t worry. Me and Chino already put the word out! I’ma body any nigga that even looks suspect! We gotchu!” Dub was ready to take off. Chino and Dub were two of my most ruthless men here in Cuthbert besides Rock. Those niggas was always trigger happy. They were the “Trigga and Mike” of Cuthbert. I trusted them to find out who was behind this chaos. If anybody could get the job done it was these two.

“Nah Dub, I want in on everything! Bring’ em to me! I don’t give a fuck who they is. If they got somebody with them, bring they muthafuckin’ ass too! We closing down shop for a couple of days. I need you and Chino to check on the other spots to make sure everything’s straight. Also, I’m putting forty stacks up on them niggas’ heads. You said it was four of’ em right?” Chino and Dub nodded. “Well that’s ten stacks a head!” Rock walked in as I was talking. “If y’all hear, see, or need anything hit us up.”

“Aight Boss!” Chino fired up a blunt. He and Dub dapped Rock up and left to go find out who was responsible for tampering with my shit.

“So how we gonna handle this?” Rock asked as we sat down at the kitchen table.

“Forty stacks is in the air my nigga. All we gotta do is sit back and wait for the first one to step up.” I lit up a blunt, hit it two times and passed it to Rock.

“Sup with you and ol’ girl?” Rock inhaled for a few seconds and released a cloud of smoke into the air.

“Shit, I’m still fighting for her stubborn ass. She still pissed about the engagement and shit but she still tryna fuck with a nigga; talking ‘bout give her a lil more time. I respect her enough to do that but that don’t mean I’ma keep a dry dick waiting on her though. I’ma still do me,” I honestly stated. I’m a man. I do what niggas do. I was going to give her time, but I would definitely be doing what the fuck I wanted to do in the process.

“What about JaMel and his brother? You think they still good for business. I mean, that nigga Jay had some animosity built up in his chest at that fake ass engagement party of ur’s… nigga you know damn well you ain’t bout to murry Erica.” We both fell out laughing.

Rock couldn’t believe I had spent over 100 stacks on that engagement party. Hell, I couldn’t believe that shit either but that’s the type of shit Taysia made a nigga do. I needed her to see another woman standing in her position. That right there had her ass feeling some type of way.

“Shit, business is business. Long as them niggas stay in their lane and money is still rolling in, then everything’s Gucci!” Rock and I chilled for a few and then parted ways. Right now all we had to do was wait on that phone call from Chino and Dub.

CHAPTER 11

KIRA

When I woke up the next morning for work, I realized that Rock wasn’t in bed with me. I checked my phone and he hadn’t called nor texted, so I went in the guest room to check on Rahley. I opened the door slightly and saw Rock lying beside her, sleeping so peacefully. I didn’t want to wake them but Rahley needed to get up for daycare. After I finished getting myself ready, I went in and gently pulled Rahley from under him and took her with me to my bedroom so that I could get her ready for daycare. I bathed her then put on her clothes. I did her long pretty hair in two pig tails, and put a pink ribbon on each one. Leaving Rock sound asleep, I dropped Rahley off at daycare and headed to work. I was ready to get these eight hours over with. I had been a teacher for two years and I was already tired of this shit.

When the bell rang at 3:30, I almost beat my students out of the classroom. I locked up my room and headed to my car. When I got to my car, all of my tires were sitting on four flats. If Rock’s baby mama had anything to do with this shit, I was going to fuck her up. I called his phone immediately.

              “Yeah,” he answered.

“Come pick me up from work! Somebody slashed all four of my tires.” I hung up the phone. I was mad as hell.

“Damn, Mrs. Mitchell, somebody out to get yo ass,” one of my students named Jawaan said as he walked by.

“Curse again, Jawaan and I’m writing yo’ ass up!”

“How you gone write me up for cussing and you out here cussing too?” he asked.

“Jawaan I’m grown! Go home!” I told him.

“Just like I thought. Shiiid, it’s after school hours anyway,” he said and walked off.

Fifteen minutes later Rock pulled up in his Camaro. Someone was on the passenger’s side.

“Long time no see Ms. Mitchell. How you been?” The passenger door of Rock’s Camaro came open and the passenger hopped in the backseat.

“Hey Armad. What you doing with Rock?” I asked.

“That’s my lil nephew,” Rock answered as I got in and closed the door. I wondered if Rock knew that I had fucked his nephew. I damn sure hope he didn’t. Armad was the student that burned my ass. After that incident I cut off all relations with him; shit wasn’t supposed to happen in the first place.

“Nephew? Rock, you never mentioned that you had any siblings?” Rock laughed.

“He’s not really my nephew. I just got him up under my wing now, him and his brother Dre,” Rock said. I guess that’s why Armad had dropped out of school only a few weeks before graduation. I needed to tell what happened between Armad and me before he finds out elsewhere. I was going to make sure I tell him as soon as Armad was out of the car.

We pulled up by the poolroom on Andrew Street to let Armad out.

“Aight, Unk!” Armad said as I let him out with his brother.

“Aight nephew, I’ma fuck with you later. Keep them eyes open. What’s good Dre?” Rock yelled out his window.

Soon as we pulled off I got straight to it.

“Rock, I know you probably still pissed about what happened yesterday and I understand that. I just want this shit to work between you and me, and in order for it to work we have to be completely honest with each other. I have something I need to tell you, but first promise me you won’t judge me.” Rock looked at me with one hand on the steering wheel.

              “I promise.”

“Armad and I had sex before. It was only one time though, I swear.” I was so embarrassed but I had to tell him.

“I already know that,” Rock said.

              “You do? How?” I wondered.

“Shit, because he told me. Soon as he found out you were my girl he told me, so that there wouldn’t be any problems with me and him.” I wondered did he tell Rock that he left my pussy on fire too. He didn’t mention it and neither did I.

              “Oh,” I shamefully stated.

“No need to be ashamed now. You did it, but ain’t none of us perfect, so who am I to judge.” That right there was why I fell for Rock. He always knew what to say to bring me back to life.

“What’s up with your car though?” he asked.

“I think yo’ baby mama did it,” I told him.

“Nah, Alicia ain’t gone try me like that, but she did call me cussing my ass out because you took Rahley to daycare this morning,” he laughed.

“Ugh!!! Yo’ baby mama got issues!”

“She’ll be aight, preciate that,” he said.

              “You’re welcome.”

“I think it was your ex,” Rock said.

              “Who Jay? You think so?”

“Yeah I do. I’ma straighten that nigga when the time is right though. I called one of my homeboys to go get your car.”

“Okay” was my only response. If I would’ve have told Rock not to worry about it and leave it alone then he probably would have thought I was defending Jay, and I definitely didn’t want that the way Rock dismissed me for fighting yesterday. I was just happy that we were back on good terms. Whatever happens between him and Jay’Ceon is their business.
