“This is so much to think about,” she murmured.

“It’s big,” he admitted.

“A whole damn universe,” she shot back.

He shrugged. “Just one solar system, really.”

To help him settle a planet or two… She touched the side of her head. She couldn’t believe she was actually considering it.

The
singilt
ring glinted in her peripheral vision even though the lights from the
Sinner’s Prayer
had withdrawn.

Could an alien dating service really find a match among so many stars?

She didn’t have to wonder, because it already had.

“Yes,” she whispered. Elation made her body light enough to float, and she grabbed his hand. “Yes, I want to be your match.”

His slow exhalation warmed the cold mountain air between them, and he drew her back into his arms.

“There are so many things I want you to see,” he said. “I’ll show you the universe.”

She shivered as his kiss descended on her again, his lips slanting across hers in a glory of molten pleasure. The clasp of their hands brought their
singilt
rings together, sending off a spark of gold, a shooting star that would never burn out.

Epilogue

Outside, Earth continued to spin, but in Sin’s berth on the
Sinner’s Prayer
, it could be day or night, whatever she wanted it to be. Zoe fiddled with the lighting controls, looking for the perfect… Ah, there. A golden twilight like captured
singilt
.

Like she’d captured herself a mercenary cyborg prince.

Fresh from the ultrasonic fog shower, she sighed in bliss and flopped across the narrow bed. Well, they’d have to do something about that when they got to his solar system. There was a lot of work and adventure ahead of them, but at least they’d have a good place to sleep. Together. They were definitely good at that already…

Just the faintest memory left her breathless, and she let her ringed hand drift down her body. The
singilt
warmed and tingled. Sin had said he’d be finishing up with his bridge crew soon.

The outer door shushed open, and when she lazily opened her eyes, Sin leaned against the partition, his arms crossed over his chest.

His ring pulsed back at her. “You couldn’t wait for me?”

“You were taking too long.” She rolled to her side to watch him get naked. “How’d it go?”

“Since Herril broke the concealment codes for a closed planet, the IDA insists he be charged. They are turning him over to the proper authorities.” Sin scowled. “More than he deserves, especially since he wouldn’t say who on this ship reported to him. But I’ll find the spy.”

“And the ship that brought him here?”

“Missing. But we’re taking Herril’s threat against your friends seriously. I assigned guardians to them until we’re sure those mercs are out of commission.”

She gazed at him. “Thank you.”

He strode toward the bed. “My ship is yours to command. You are my
singilt
mate. Everything I have is yours. My rings, my planets, my heart are yours.”

She held her hand out to him and, when he twined his fingers through hers, drew him down. At the same time, she pushed up on her elbow to align her mouth for his kiss. The lock of their lips sent a bright surge of sensation coursing through her.

This hadn’t been what she was looking for, but despite what he’d said, she’d thank all her lucky stars that she found him.

She skimmed her hands down his chest, feeling the steady, powerful pounding of his heart that roused an even stronger pulse between her legs. She opened to him, bringing him close. “I don’t have anything special to give you,” she murmured. “I’m just your poor Earther bride.”

He growled as he settled between her thighs. “With my
singilt
, I give you the treasure of my body and heart. And you give me yours.”

“But it’s not the same,” she pouted. “You can’t see it.”

He lowered his head to lick at her nipple and she arched off the bed with a gasp. “I hear it,” he whispered. “I feel it.” He cupped his hand under her ass and lifted her to his rampant cock. “Feel me.”

“Oh yes,” she sighed. With a tilt of her hips, she took him inside her, the long, hard slide of him filling her until she didn’t think she could hold any more.

And then he gave just a little more. She cried out at the shatter of golden sparks in her mind.

As they curved together in the aftermath, she stared sleepily across the room at the wall hanging she’d admired before. “I still can’t tell what it is,” she murmured.

He followed her gaze. “A map. Of all the places I’ve been in the universe.” He was quiet for a moment. “Or maybe not a map, exactly, since I didn’t know where it was taking me.” He tilted her face up to his for a kiss. “To you.”

She reveled in the sweet rush of the
singilt
. And the sensation that was just Sin.

“I’ve only been around the world,” she confessed, “but I never thought I’d find a love like this.”

His arms tightened around her and his big-sky eyes blazed. “You just hadn’t looked far enough.”
