Chapter 21

Fiona

Slowly turning my aching head, I opened my eyes, which felt like they were weighted down by heavy weights. Beige walls, fireplace, wall-mounted TV, two mocha-colored chairs that sat across from a beige-colored sofa, a square glass table and wooden floors were what my eyes saw. This was not my bedroom. Panic struck inside me as I lifted up the crème-colored sheet that covered me and stared at the black t-shirt I was wearing. Where the fuck was I? Oh my God, someone must have slipped me a roofie at the bar last night, brought me to his place, and had sex with me. I reached down and felt my panties were still intact. If we’d had sex, I would be naked, right? People who roofie other people don’t just casually dress them afterwards. My pounding head was racing with all sorts of thoughts. I had no memory of last night. The last thing I remembered was sitting on the barstool, telling the bartender about my shitty life and throwing back one drink after another.
Shit
. I couldn’t even remember what I was drinking.

I gulped as I slowly sat up. I could smell the aroma of fresh brewed coffee. My stomach churned. I carefully got out of bed and tiptoed to the closed door, leaning my ear against it to see if I could hear someone. Looking over at the two door walls that sat in the corner, I walked over and stared out at the ocean. Wait a minute. This was Nathan’s house. Fuck my life. Walking into the bathroom, I stared at myself in the mirror and saw the mascara that was sitting beneath my red swollen eyes. Grabbing a washcloth, I ran it under cool water, soaped it up, and washed my face, hoping that somehow it would make me feel somewhat better. It didn’t.

Stepping into the hallway, I went to the kitchen, where I saw Nathan sitting at the island on his laptop.

“Good morning.” He turned and looked at me. “I’m sure I don’t need to ask how you’re feeling.”

“No. No, you don’t.”

“Go sit down outside. The fresh air will help you and I’ll bring you some coffee.”

“Thanks.” My lips gave way to a small smile.

Taking a seat in the lounge chair that faced the sand and the ocean, Nathan handed me a cup of coffee and took a seat next to me.

“How did I get here?” I asked as I slowly sipped from the cup.

“I picked you up and I felt you were too drunk to be home alone, so I brought you here.”

“How did you know where I was?”

“You don’t remember?” His eye narrowed.

“No.”

“I called you and you hung up on me, so I called back and the bartender answered your phone. He told me that I needed to come get you.”

“Oh. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Would you like to tell me why you got so inebriated yesterday?”

As I held the cup between my hands, I stared out as the waves crashed against the shoreline.

“I had a shitty day.”

“I know you did, but I know you being pissed off about my proposal was only half of it. What else happened?”

I looked over at him. “Did we have sex last night?”

The corners of his mouth slightly curved upwards. “No. Stop changing the subject.”

“How did I get in your t-shirt?”

“I took your clothes off and put it on you.”

“But we didn’t have sex?”

“No. We did not have sex. I wasn’t about to take advantage of you when you were so drunk. Now answer my question.”

Wow. Nathan Carter had some morals. Who would have thought? I heavily sighed as I stared out at the water.

“My father stole money from the employee pension fund.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“I wish I was.” I looked over at him.

“How much did he take?”

“Fifteen million dollars.”

“Holy shit. Why?”

“The only thing I know is that a business deal went bad. My uncle doesn’t know the details because my father wouldn’t tell him. He just told him to keep his mouth shut and go on with business as if it never happened. Apparently, my father was working on a plan to put the money back, but he died before he could execute it.”

“And your uncle doesn’t know what that plan was?”

“No. I had just found that out right before you came to the office with your proposal. Your timing couldn’t have been any worse.”

“Sorry about that. So, another subject, you hate redheads, eh?”

Narrowing my eyes at him, I spoke, “How do you know that?”

“You told me in the limo last night when your head was in my lap.” He smiled.

“Shit. What else did I say?”

“You called me an asshole. That’s about it.”

“Great.” I sat there shaking my head. “I don’t apologize for calling you an asshole because you are one.”

“I know.” He shrugged.

“So back to the redhead hatred.” He smirked. “You said that redheads have ruined your life.”

“They have.” I arched my brow as I took a sip of coffee. “My stepmother, my ex’s mistress, and my ex-boss who gave my promotion to the redhead who was sucking his dick.”

“The way you say it makes it sound so dirty.” He winked.

“Shut up.” I laughed as I lightly smacked his arm. “Is it okay if I take a quick shower before I head home? And I need to go get my car.”

“Of course it is and your car is already at your house. I had someone pick it up earlier.”

“Wow. Thank you, Nathan.”

“You’re welcome.” He got up from his seat. “Hey, I’m attending a cocktail party tonight on a yacht. Would you like to come with me? After all, it is a Saturday and I think you need to take your mind off of Winslow Wines for a couple of days.”

“You really want me to go with you, even though I think you’re an asshole?”

“A lot of people think I’m an asshole, but it doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy their company.”

“You mean women.” I raised my brow.

“Ninety percent of them are women.”

“Sounds like fun. I’d love to go.” I smiled.

“Good. Now get your hungover ass in the shower.” He smirked as he walked away.

I smiled as I finished off the rest of my coffee. Stepping into the shower, I closed my eyes and tilted my head back, letting the hot water soothe my aching head. This showerhead was magical. Way better than the one I had at home. As I was in my zone, feeling completely relaxed without a care in the world at that moment, I heard the shower door open and a fully naked Nathan Carter stepped inside.

“What are you doing?”

“I didn’t think you’d mind if I took a shower with you.” His lips caressed my neck and, suddenly, I could feel myself melting away.

“And what if I do?”

“Then all you have to say is no. It’s simple.” His tongue slid down my chest and to each of my breasts. “Are you saying no, Fiona?”

“No. I mean, yes. I mean, no. I’m not saying no.” I fumbled with my words because he felt incredible.

“Good, because I’ve been wanting you since last night.” His lips traveled up to mine as his hand cupped me down below.

My hands stayed fixated to his muscular chest as he passionately kissed me. His finger dipped inside me and I let out a gasp as I tilted my head back, taking in the pleasure he provided me. My hand traveled from his chest, down to his rock hard abs, and my fingers traced the sexy v-line that drove me crazy. When I wrapped my hand around his hard cock, he let out a moan as I moved up and down his shaft.

“I want you to get down on your knees and suck me. Can you do that for me?” he asked with a whisper.

Getting on my knees, the hot water beaded down on me as my lips wrapped around the tip of him, lightly sucking before inserting him fully into my mouth. His hands fisted through my hair as he moved my head up and down, forcing me to suck him deeper. I never enjoyed giving a guy a blowjob; in fact, I hated it. But with him, I found myself enjoying it. I wanted to give him the same pleasure he had given me. His moans grew louder as he thrust his hips, then suddenly, he pulled out of my mouth.

“I don’t want to come that way. We’ll save that for another time. Get up here,” he commanded as he brought my leg up to his waist and thrust inside me with force.

“Fuck. You feel so good, baby,” he spoke with bated breath as he continued to move in and out of me.

My moans heightened as I swelled around him and my body gave way to an electrifying orgasm. I could feel his cock pulsating inside me as I came. He pulled out, wrapped his hand around himself, and finished himself off on my stomach. Watching him do that was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen. He wasn’t the first guy to jack himself off in front of me, but he sure was the sexiest one. Once he was finished, he placed his hands on each side of my face and his mouth smashed into mine.

“I didn’t come in you because I wasn’t wearing a condom and I didn’t know if you were on birth control,” he spoke breathlessly.

“I am on birth control.”

He gave me a small smile as his hands ran down wet hair. Once we finished our shower, he got out first and handed me a towel. He went to his room to get dressed while I finished drying off and slipped back into my clothes from last night.

“Jason is going to drive you home and then I’ll have him pick you up at six o’clock and bring you to the yacht.”

“You’re not coming to pick me up?” I asked.

“No. I’ll meet you there.” He placed his thumb on my chin and softly kissed my lips.

Chapter 22

Fiona

As soon as I walked through the door, I called Lydia and asked her to come over. So many feelings and emotions were running through my head where Nathan and the company were concerned and I needed my best friend.

“I was going to call you last night, but I was on skype with my parents for two hours and then I was so tired, I crashed.”

“Did you tell them about the baby?” I asked as I made her some tea.

“Yeah and they say they’re happy, but I got the feeling they really weren’t.”

“They’re happy, Lydia. They’re just worried about you being a single mom.”

“Maybe. So what did you do last night? Anything exciting?”

“We have so much to talk about.” I took a seat next to her on the couch and brought up my legs. “First of all, I found out my father stole from the employees’ pension fund.”

“What?!” she exclaimed. “Oh my God.”

“I know. Second of all, Nathan handed me his business proposal and it turns out he wants to take controlling interest, meaning he’d be in charge of Winslow Wines.”

“What a dick. You told him to shove it up his ass, right?”

“Yeah. I did. But then I went to Little Tokyo and did some thinking at the Japanese garden. Then I went and sat in a bar for four hours, poured my heart out to the hot bartender, and then drank myself into oblivion. Nathan came and picked me up, took me back to his place, put me to bed, and then we had shower sex this morning.” My teeth bit into my bottom lip.

“Wait a minute.” She shook her head. “You had sex with the man who wants to take over your company? Even after you found out he wanted to take over?”

“Yeah.” I continued to bite down on my lip.

“What the hell is the matter with you?”

“I know. I’m an idiot, and tonight I’m attending a cocktail party with him on a yacht.”

“Fiona, have you fallen for him?”

“I don’t know. Maybe.”

“He’s every kind of wrong for you. You don’t trust guys as it is and Nathan Carter is one that shouldn’t be trusted.”

“I know that and I’m trying so hard to stop my feelings. He’s just so damn sexy in everything he does.”

“So you’re thinking with your vagina instead of your head?”

“No. Of course not.”

“Yes you are! Listen to yourself. He’s sexy, I get it. He’s more than a god in the bedroom and he makes you feel good. But, Fiona, he wants to take over your family business. Did you ever stop to think that getting you into bed with him was a way to make that happen? That he’d sweep you off your feet and get you to sign that proposal? He’s a womanizing Casanova.”

I rolled my eyes at her, but she was right. He was the hunter and I was his prey, and if I wasn’t careful, I’d fall in his trap and my life would forever be changed.

“Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing,” I spoke.

“I think you’re playing a very dangerous game, Fiona, and the last thing I want is for you to get hurt.”

“I’m not going to allow myself to get hurt. Now, I have to get ready for the party. Are you staying?”

“I guess.” She pouted.

Nathan

Being with Fiona this morning was nice and seeing her in nothing but my t-shirt was hot. I normally didn’t like company first thing in the morning but having her in my home and having coffee with me made me feel—good.
Fuck
. I already missed her and her smart mouth. I never missed someone before and I never really gave anyone a second thought, but I found myself thinking about her more than I should have. It wasn’t just her body I was obsessed with and couldn’t seem to get enough of; it was also her mind, her personality, and her attitude. I’d been with countless women over the years and no one had ever captured my attention the way she had. Normally, I wouldn’t give a shit if a woman got drunk. If they called me, I’d send Jason to pick them up and take them home. But with Fiona, I needed to get her myself. I wanted to rescue her and take care of her, which scared the living hell out of me.

After we pulled up to the marina, I sent Jason to pick up Fiona while I made my rounds to all the guests. Music was playing, drinks and appetizers were being served, and people were mingling. As I was socializing, my phone beeped with a text message.

“Fiona has arrived.”

“Thank you, Jason.”

Making my way through the crowd and down to the entrance of the yacht, I stopped when I saw her. She was gorgeous in her short lace, form-fitting, black strapless dress with stiletto heels to match. Her long blonde hair swept to one side with a cascade of curls. She was simply stunning and the most beautiful woman here. In fact, she was the most beautiful woman in the world as far as I was concerned.

“Good evening, Mr. Carter.” She smiled as she approached me.

Taking hold of her hand, I brought it up to my lips.

“Good evening, Miss Winslow. Thank you for coming.”

“This is quite a turn out,” she spoke as she looked around. “Whose party is this anyway?”

The corners of my mouth curved upwards. “It’s my party.”

“Your party?”

“Yes. Welcome to my yacht.”

“Why didn’t you mention that earlier?” She arched her brow.

“I wanted to surprise you.”

“I hate surprises.”

“I’ll have to remember that.” I winked as I escorted her onto the boat.
